Blizzard Beach or Wet n Wild?

Well it would be WNW for us every time - the rides are WAY better than those at BB. Honestly - Summit Plummit has got NOTHING on Bomb Bay for pure adrenaline rush!

It really depends what your preference is. If you want good thrill rides and a more adult atmosphere I'd go for WNW, if you want prettier surroundings but are not bothered so much about the rides then I'd go for BB.

I think thats the main difference, you go to WnW for the rides/slides and can be lots of fun but if you want to go for a relaxing day which is why we use a water park then the Disney parks with nice surroundings and great lazy rivers are a lot better. We didn't feel as though we could have chill time in WnW, could not find nice places to lay in the sun.

the slides at BB are pretty good as far as adrenaline rushes go....
i really didn't like WNW at all.....as another poster said, it didn't feel all that safe climbing up to them...

when we go to BB we always do the same thing - get there before rope drop, put our 'stuff' into a locker so that we're only in our suits and then stand by the rope...
as soon as the rope drops we make a beeline and i do mean a beeline for the back...
we race to the back of the park (not going over the hill but rather running around to the left).....we start with downhill double dipper - going on that 2 or 3 times (no line yet)..
next we continue clockwise towards the 3 tube slides in the back (i can't remember what they're called) and race up those stairs (ok...so racing might not be the best word....we start running, but slow down about halfway up....there are a LOT of stairs).....and you're dragging your tube with you...unless they've finally built a tube conveyor there...(have they?)...
at the top, we always go in the closed slide first (the one in the middle)..
and down we go (you'll hear me...i scream the ENTIRE way down)..
and then we race back up to the top....still no line..
we usually go two together at this point in one of the open slides (to the right or left)...
and then race back up...still no line.....we do either the open or closed, two together or alone..
we race up and down about 6 times in a row.....(heart attack heaven for sure)....still no line at this point but we've usually had our fill after about 6 times down so we head over to the tobaggon racer (moving counter-clockwise back towards downhill double dipper - where there now is a line)..

we race past downhill double dipper and continue up to the tobaggan racers....
we usually only go down this one once....
the slide that's right next to the tobaggan racers, i can't remember what it's called...you lie on the same mats as for the toboggan racers.....we usually skip that one....
at the bottom of the racers we now head over to the family raft slide...
there's a line by this point but not too bad...only about 10 minutes...
we go down twice (getting our picture taken at the bottom) and then it's on to the two big slides, summit plummit and the other one (can't remember the name)....
of course the lines here are already long.....it's about 10:30 by now i think.....so we wait in line for summit plummit - about 20 to 25 minutes...
we do this once and then head for the lazy river...

it's still possible to get tubes, but the river is pretty crowded (keep in mind we visit WDW in JULY - busy busy busy)....
we go around the lazy river 2 or 3 times and then that's it...

by now it's about 11:30 and it's time to leave...
we never sunbathe and since the lines for the slides are now ridiculously long, we don't hang around...
we head for the lockers, dress, then go back to where the little snowcone van is to get our traditional snow cones (yum), eat them and then head out..
it's usually about 12 noon when we leave (and we are always amazed at the number of people coming at noon - i'd go insane if i had to stand in long lines for all the slides)...

i forgot, we also go shopping right before we leave...the kids always manage to find some nice swimsuits and surfing shirts there....

and then its back to the hotel for showers and lunch....

that's at blizzard beach...
we have a completely different attack plan for TL....
we now only go to TL in the late afternoon, for the last 2 hours of the day - it's FANTASTIC then....highly recommended.....the lazy river is completely empty and the lines for crush and gusher aren't too bad (about 10 minute waits at most)....
i should mention that we have APs, so it doesn't bother us to pop into a waterpark for just an hour or two...we don't feel as if we've wasted an entrance...

disneyholic family
Phew, never mind doing it, I was out of breath just reading it. :)

:) :)
yeah we are a 'bit' commando in our approach to BB...
i guess i should change our name to disneypsychotic family or something...

but we really hate standing in lines for waterslides....and if it wasn't obvious, we LOVE waterslides...(love water in general for that matter)...

i should add that we also skip the wave pool at BB....we love the wavepool at TL so we don't bother with the one at BB (which isn't at all in the same league as TL's)

also, one more amendment - sometimes the kids want to eat something at BB - so they'll grab a couple of PB&J sandwiches and fries there before we go...
by the way, when i say kids -- my kids are 20 and 23 now.....
but we've been following this BB plan since BB first opened....whenever that was....

I just got out of breath reading your post:rotfl2:
We have AP's but without the water parks so we have to pay to get in but with a discount.
Our approach to water parks is lazy river, wave pool, lazy river, sunbathe, food, wave pool, lazy river, sunbathe ice cream, lazy river. :lmao: might do an odd slide if no line but basically go in to do nothing for the day.

Did Crush n Gusher once, did nothing for me, infact hurt my backside on it:lmao: Done all the slides at least once but more into roller coasters than water slides. Give me Hulk, Kraken or Sheikra any day.
Have you seen the soft serve in the bucket with a spade to eat it with?:rotfl2:

no i haven't seen the bucket of ice cream....might just possibly satisfy my love of softserve chocolate (which i can't get where i live...probably a good thing where my waistline is concerned)..

if you love coasters, you really should head to cedar point (unfortunately in Ohio)....it's only open in the summers (may through october), but is without question, the coaster king.....in fact, their tagline is "roller coaster capital of the world"....

my favorite there is their classic wooden coaster (gemini - two coasters racing side by side), but they have lots of new ones....more coasters than any other park in the world...and lots and lots of good ones...

http://www.cedarpoint.com/

the coaster page (17 coasters):
http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/park/rides/coasters/index.cfm

maybe you could somehow manage to include CP on one of your trips...
if you do, schedule 2 days there....
when we lived in detroit, we would drive there (about 3 hours each way) and spend the night - they have a 2 day ticket...
and there are lots of good cheap motels right in the area (as i recall, we stayed in the courtyard with a nice indoor pool and minigolf...i think it was the courtyard)...

anyway....if you like coasters, you'll enjoy CP!!

by the way, their new one is Maverick...i've seen video on the internet....it looks amazing (they reviewed it on theme park review, saying it was even better than they had expected)....
i've been on many of them, not the newest ones, since i haven't been in a few years, but all the others...great great great - though gemini will always have my heart...

here's the CP video podcast about maverick -it shows the ride - a cute podcast (took a few minutes to download on my computer)

just reading some previous posts - I've never thought about BB & TL in the afternoon. We always go for opening then visit DTD in the afternoon - what do you all recommend???? I might have to fit in a couple of afternoons there if you think its better that way around???:thumbsup2

TL is our favourite, with BB a close second and I agree with the others, W'n'W is for older children. You'll have a more relaxing time at BB and W'nW aint Disney!!

we tried BB in the afternoon but didn't like it..
the lines were too long, even in the very late afternoon...

on the other hand, TL seemed to really slow down in the afternoon...
but you have to keep in mind that if you're going in the summer, there will be the daily afternoon deluge accompanied by the orlando sound and light show...(lightning storm)...so you won't be able to do anything if it rains...

when we pop into TL it is usually AFTER the afternoon storm....so the park is pretty empty...
but as i said, we use APs, so it doesn't bother us to go into the park for only an hour....

We went to TL yesterday for opening and did the slides near katcherkiddee creek a few times that our eldest can get on. By noon there were queues. We just chilled after that and went in the waves. The preschool area at BB is much better than at TL but I find TL much more relaxing, the atmosphere and theme is so chilled.
In my opinion Disney need to re-think the preschool area at TL with the constant spray guns the area just gets mobbed with older children (and adults) constantly spraying the toddlers and babies, its annoying for the little ones. Two of the slides are also in bad condition with the rubber peeling off. The preschool area at BB is just little ones enjoying themselves.

Having been to TL and BB over the last couple of years we were very dissapointed with the quality of the activities for young children.

Must admit we much prefer the Happy Harbor area at Sea World and are hoping Aquatica has more to offer.

See this is where we differ to most of you - it's the fact that WNW isn't like Disney that appeals to us!

I don't know the age/family set up of the OP or what their general preferences are but if they are of a similar group/mindset to us (couple, age 28 + 30, adrenaline junkies) I'd say WNW is definately worth considering. The rides have more substance and are more varied than at BB.

(Also - we didn't feel at all unsafe at WNW as some other people have suggested)

I agree - the fact that there are other water parks around has to be a good thing and just because something isn't Disney doesn't mean it's not worth visiting.
Fact is Aquatica will provide serious competition and Disney need to ensure they keep BB & TL attractive for people of all ages and as PoppyAnna rightly says some aspects are looking in need of some renovation, for me especially the areas for younger children.
