We have not been to a Disney waterpark before and are planning on going to one on our upcoming trip. I'd like to know which one you'd recommend - there are 11 children in our group (15, 14, three 12, two 11, 8, 7, and two 6 year olds). Is there a big difference in the two parks or do they have some similar attractions? I know my DS 8 has expressed an interest in swimming with the sharks at TL but I'd really like to know which of the two parks would work best with our group. Thanks so much! :)

BB is more "Extreme Water Slide" and TL is water slides, wave pool, shark reef. As long as everyone is 48" and above you shouldn't have a problem with either as far as water slides are concerned... Personally, I'd go with TL unless you've got a batch of dare-devils on your hands.

I dont think you can go wrong either way but blizzard beach has better water slides as a whole, I think. I love water slides so I am happy going to either. If you want more relaxing typhoon is nice with the sand beach tropical setting... It also has the new crush n gusher, and thats very cool.

Either park is great but we perfer TL. You can snorkle with the sharks and they do have the new water coaster. Plus we love the tropical feel of it.

BB does have a great area "ski patrol training area" that might fit a large portion of your group.

You probably can't go wrong with either one.

We can't ever decide which one so we do both!

I read on another thread once that a family decides which park to go to based on which bus comes to the resort to pick them up first!

Agree with the above. Yes, there are more daredevil slides at BB, but the new Crush N Gusher (3 slides) at TL is great! My family liked the wave pool at TL (major waves!) better than BB (more like constant swells). Both parks are fun. If I recall correctly, the family tube ride at BB was longer and better than the one at TL. You can't go wrong with either place!

I have never been to TL because it is usually closed when we go on vacation. We had a blast at BB. My kids were 4 and 5 at the time. We will try TL this trip in 5 weeks.

My children turned 6 & 7 during our last trip and they both preferred BB. They are both excellent swimmers and water dare devils. The bigger and faster the slide, the better for them. We also did the snorkeling with the sharks at TL and none of us really cared for it. The water was freezing and you had to move along fast. Next trip we will only do one water park and they are choosing BB over TL.

We did both in 2004 and preferred TL. For me and DW, the laid back pace was worth it. Next time, we're only doing TL.
Just make sure you get there early otherwise all the good seats (shade, people watching, personal space, etc) fill quickly. We had a heck of a time finding beach chairs and a spot at both parks.

For your group I would go to BB ! The older ones will love the big slides, the middle and younger ones will still be able to do many plus have the great Ski Patrol Area, a great home base to set up. Theme is so kid oriented and fun.

The shark reef is cool, but you get in - swim across (maybe 60+ feet) and you get out. Can't dive down, can't stop, can't go in reverse. We do it several times in a row when park first opens because later in day it is crowded and water is not as clear. Very cool, but I would not pick a park just to go there.
