I live it Florida, so expecting the heat isn't hard. We went to TL 2 weeks ago and complained because it was cold, and my sister nearly drowned in the Shark Reef (joy), but thats another story.

Wow I almost drowned in that silly shark pool myself 17 years ago:scared:... Must be a rite of passage or something:confused3.

Still voting for TL. Love the theming of that park.

I'm so glad I found this thread! :cool1: I've been wanting to ask the same question...although after reading it, I'm still undecided. Mostly because we have 3 DD's spread out in ages. My 15 yo will go on anything and loves thrill rides, my 10yo is a strong swimmer but very timid, and my 5yo is like my 15 yo, but very small for her age, so height requirements are an issue.
We only have one shot (can go to one water park) we are doing the 7 day cruise in Oct and are planning to surprise the girls the day we get off the ship, they will think we are flying home on Sat. (which is what we always do) but we are actually going to take them to one of the water parks. Now we just have to decide which one. In regards to the crowd levels, I guess BB is usually more crowded...anyone have any idea what wait times are like on a Sat. in Oct?
TIA

All of the responses are very interesting. On our next trip (next Sept) we are planning on doing a water park (first timer). I personally think that TL looks like something that our family would like because of the atmosphere and the types of attractions that they have. I think our family would love to go snorkeling and seeing the coral fish, plus after reading about both of them, it seems to me that TL is more family oriented when it comes to the slides....I could be wrong and please if anyone wants to correct me please do.

I wish they could move the giant wave pool to Blizzard Beach and my waterpark life would be complete.

I prefer Blizzard Beach - *except for* Typhoon Lagoon's wave pool.

When we used to do WDW annually in October/November - we always ended up at a waterpark on the weekends. It's fine. The locals don't consider October hot enough. :lmao:

I actually like BB for kids. Their not-little-kid but mid-kid area is wonderful!! SO much to do for them.

Thanks CathrynRose for the pics....you are really making it hard in our decision making. Our girls will be 9 and 7 when we go next, I think they would have a good time there as well. :thumbsup2 Luckily I have over a year away until our next trip, so I still have time decide which one the family wants to do.

Thank you sooo much CathrynRose! I think I am going to go with BB. With our kids age ranges I think this will be the best fit. That kids area looks perfect for my 10 yo!

We have the water park & more option, so assuming we go to each park at least once with our 4 and 6 yeard olds, which first? What time of day is best?

It's a hard choice, but I give the nod to Blizzard Beach.
Despite appearances, I think BB is actually the more family friendly of the two. It's got better kids areas and it's got a fantastic family raft ride that is exciting enough for the older kids and adults, but not too intimidating for the younger kids. And at a water park, finding a ride that the whole family can ride isn't easy. Plus, BB has the Summit Plummet for the thrill seekers.

But Typhoon Lagoon does have what I think is a nicer theme and it has the wave pool and the shark reef.

So we definitely loved both parks, but if we had to pick one, we'd go with BB.

I voted for TL. When you're from Ohio, anything with "Blizzard" in it's name is to be avoided!:rotfl:

Aha! The search function does work! I was about to post a new thread about this very question and decided to search for it instead. Lot's of great answers here. Think we'll be heading to TL based on what we've read. Thanks all! :goodvibes

I prefer Blizzard Beach, but not by a lot, what probably puts Typhoon Lagoon close to Blizzard Beach in my opinion is Crush n Gusher. But I gotta give it to BB that it has better and more slides overall.

Thanks for those pictures of the kid area in BB. That looks great! I think we'll have to try that when we go next year. Is there an age or height requirement for that area? Our kids will be 9, 7, 2 months shy of 5 and 2. The 2 yr old obviously would be too young. But do they have to be exactly 5? I'm hoping my almost 5 yr old would be able to go in...

NO comparision BB all the way.

The only thing I liked about TL is the crush n Gusher--- and that would be the only reason to return. That slide is the best slide ever. However, TL is just poorly designed. TL does have some cool things like the wave pool & shark reef, but the slides stink. They are too short and boring--- ALL OF THEM!!! EXCEPT Crush n Gusher.

NOW BB is awesome. They bring you up on a chair lift. The red slides in the back of the park are fast and thrilling. The enclosed one is just like space mountain. Its totally dark inside, except for the fact that they drilled tiny holes to let the light in and when you are moving really fast they look like stars and you feel like you are on space mountain. The family raft ride is GREAT. and no stairs to climb. The racer slides are also thrilling.

I have been to TL 3 times and BB once and so prefer BB-- if they ever put in the water coaster (like crush n gusher at BB I would have NO reason ever to go to TL. In fact Water Country in NH beat TL too.

I am torn. My DH wants to go to TL for the theming. We have never been there but he likes the idea of tropical. We went to BB last year and really enjoyed it but he didn't like all the white. My kids will only be 6, 4 and 2 when we go and it really seems like BB is a much better fit. I really don't think my kids would do well in that wave pool (get scratched up for sure) and they are too little for Shark Reef. So is there much for kids this age at TL besides the wave pool? If not I am making him go back to BB as we loved it there. My kids like slides a lot (anything they make the height requirment for) but I am not sure there are slides for their ages at TL?

Do them both!!

TL is prettier, but as others have said, the raft slides are pretty lame compared to BB, especially their so-called family raft ride at TL. At TL, you wait in line forever dragging a heavy raft up a hill to get a very short, bumpy ride. At BB, you stand in a fast-moving line for a few minutes, step in a waiting raft and have one of the longest-smoothest raft rides anywhere!! The kids love to do it over and over.

Our kids really enjoy the pre-teen area and the toboggan rides.

The lazy river at BB is fun with an ice-cave, a house where the alligator sneezes and blows water through the chimney over the rafts, plus other sight gags.

We enjoy TL for the wave pool, but that wave pool can be very intimidating and tear up your feet if you're not careful. That said, if you've got strong swimmers and go out pretty far, it's a blast. TL also has crush'n'gusher water coaster. Again, the kids ride it over and over. There is no pre-teen area and the raft rides are not as fun as TL.

We like visiting both, but our favorite is BB. TL is a Castaway Cay wannabe.

I agree. While they're both nice, Blizzard Beach is definitely my favorite. I actually think the theme at BB is really cute and all the little touches there really make me laugh. I think the slides are better...definitely longer. And it's a little more spread out and easier to navigate IMO than typhoon lagoon.

the Crush N Gusher at TL is definitely cool. Otherwise, I prefer BB.
