"Black Lives Matter" - it's stupid. Just cut the crap.....

The point of the Black Lives Matter movement isn't that all lives don't matter. Obviously, they do. But protesters are concerned with the systematic racism that is present in our society. Do yourself a favor and take the Harvard Implicit Association Test (google Project Implicit). It's a really sobering look at your own biases.

I can see why politics are banned from the DIS, they can get unpleasant fast.

Is it only white people who are prejudice? I think not, but if you watch the media, they constantly reinforce the public that it is white people who are racists. To be honest, I'm sick of it!

If it is true that's has nothing to do with MY neighborhood where none of the white kids have been stopped.
Do you actually believe white kids are stopped and searched equally?

I believe black kids are stopped more because there is a higher population of blacks in high crime areas. You cannot blame the cops or white people that more black people live in higher crime areas.

In the wake of the deaths of two black men at the hands of law enforcement officers in Louisiana and Minnesota this week, [name redacted] stated in a Facebook Live broadcast with Van Jones on Friday afternoon. During it, the man [current event description of man's identity redacted] acknowledged “it’s more dangerous to be black in America,” adding that “it’s more dangerous in that you’re substantially more likely to end up in a situation where the police don’t respect you where you could easily get killed. I think sometimes for whites it’s difficult to appreciate how real that is.”

“It took me a long time, and a number of people talking to me through the years to get a sense of this,” [name redacted] said. “If you are a normal, white American, the truth is you don’t understand being black in America and you instinctively under-estimate the level of discrimination and the level of additional risk.”

These are just a FEW of their "poster children." And yet absolutely not a single person was convicted for ANY wrongdoing in ANY of the instances. The system decided ALL of these people DESERVED to be killed. You are right. There is no problem. I don't even know why people are complaining, the system sure seems to be doing its job.

I know this seems like a lot but you need to realize that police have MILLIONS of interactions with people everyday. Yes, sometimes mistakes are made, sometimes the cop is guilty of something but you have to realize the media over focuses on these shootings and make it seem like white cops just want to kill black people. I also believe that some cops shoot someone because they panic or feel that their life is threatened, they are unsure. There was a shooting of a mentally challenged man a few years back a few towns over from where I live. The guy was in a car in a parking spot, cops came up he panicked and tried to go forward because he was probably scared, cops shot and killed him. I didn't think it was justified but it was in the paper for 1 day and that was it (white guy, white cops). The media is praying on peoples emotions with these shootings. The media is making it a black against white issue.

No, even when it is stated they were specifically targeted

Well maybe the ones who came armed & with Kevlar vests ?

Autism has just reached LE radar. I just attended a symposium on dealing with autistic community. It was eye opening. I had no idea the intricacies of the autistic. Btw it was run by a large national autism organization.

Hey, last I checked, in Texas it was and is completely legal to open carry. WTH is the issue with a black guy with a gun? Or are only white people allowed to have guns?

What building did black lives matter suicide bomb? What Americans did black lives matter murder by cutting off their heads with knives and then post said videos on the web? When exactly did Black lives matter declare holy war on America? I must have totally missed all that.

BLM is a divisive group that doesn't care about truth. They just care about demonizing Police Officers, especially white officers. That is terrorism. Look at what happened in McKinney, Texas last June. No one lost their lives, but an officer lost his job and it was through a BLM activist. He was the father of one of the girls in the video who was not handcuffed. He appeared on News outlets claiming that the officer was out of control. He also made the claim that the officer was only handcuffing black kids, but one of the first ones handcuffed before the video starts is a white girl. Interesting that there was barely a mention of this fact, BLM ignores this because it didn't represent their narrative that the Police are racist. It might not be a "holy war", it does come close. Is there racism? Yes. Do the Police make mistakes? Yes. Does BLM try to open a dialogue? No. Does BLM have any interest in the facts of an incident? No.

My opinion about BLM is that the leaders of this group, Cornel West and Alice Walker, want people to believe that people today have the same attitude towards Blacks as when it was in the 1950s and 1960s. It is 2016 and BLM leaders should open a dialogue with community leaders including police because if they don't, more people will die because of the hate BLM spews. BLM also should stop defending people who commit crimes. Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri and the hands up and don't shoot, has been shown as a lie, yet the leaders of BLM don't care about that. This incites people to anger and this led to the Officers in Texas being assassinated.

When people raise money for cancer nobody gets pissed off and says #alldiseasesmatter. When people say #cancerstrong nobody says well you are discriminating against #multiplesclerosisstrong. Why is that? Saying there are OTHER problems has nothing to do with the problem being discussed, its completely irrelevant. There are "more important" issues than homelessness but does that mean we shouldn't address, acknowledge, and work on improving and solving that issue? My mom saves dogs, should I tell her that all animals need saving and its not fair for her to concentrate on dogs (specifically rottweilers in her case). Should I tell her stop talking about saving rotties, lets save cute little kittens because they need saving too? PP's are right, if you are saying #alllivesmatter you are part of the problem. YOU are being separatist. YOU are being divisionist. By pitting one issue against other ones. By citing one race against other ones. Black lives matter has NOTHING to do with other races. You are making it about that. Black lives matter has to do with addressing and acknowledging a problem THAT EXISTS and saying all lives matter is doing just the opposite. We all know that all lives matter. Duh. Add something valuable to the conversation... and its a conversation that needs to be had so stop trying to avoid/ignore by deflecting to other, non related issues. We focus on gay rights, women's rights, animal rights.... but god forbid we focus on a black mans right to live. After all... that would be racist right?

I have been pondering your post today.
I think the difference between Black lives matter vs. let's cure cancer is that cancer isn't blaming another diease. In this case Black lives matter are saying that rasist cops are murdering black men for no reason except their skin colour, when those same cops they are blaming are 18 x more likely to die from being shot on the line of duty, which is why I think some people are countering with blue lives matter. A poster up thread shared a list of the "poster children" of black lives matter.
To give some perspective Trayveen died Feb 2012. In 2012 131 officer died in the line of duty, 2013 109, 2014 122, 2015 123, 2016 58 and counting. Now is it any wonder cops are nervous.

You are right though that just because it isn't the biggest problem doesn't mean there isn't a problem (of some sort, I personally don't think there are widespread rasist cops are the root of the issue)

It was a peaceful march attended by people of every race and faith. The march had ended and people will calmly dispersing back to their cars and homes. At that point, a lone gunman committed a horrible act of violence in his name only. He clearly told the police he was acting alone and not part of any group. Now, of course, this gunman happens to be black and so an entire race and movement have been condemned. That in and of itself is indicative of the racism in this country. When a gunman is white (pick pretty much any school shooting to start), all whites are not held accountable. It is a lone wolf or an unstable youth. That, in and of itself, is why Black Lives Matters is needed.
Here it is in a nutshell.
What was said by the "Reverend" at this protest with a bullhorn, and with the crowd shouting "yeah, uh huh", was GD white America. As a white American, how the heck am I suppose to embrace this? Do you see my point? If not, then the conversation is at an impasse.
Also, the shouts of "What do we want? Dead Cops. When do we want it? Now!!! does not speak to me and should not speak to you if you are at all a decent American.

Thanks. I don't know how I graduated magna cum laude with an MFA from USC (the Trojans, not Gamecocks btw) and married an English professor... Especially seeing as I don't know that and never make typos.
Obviously not by proofreading what you type.

What does crime rates have to do with the fact that a black teen is much more likely that a white teen to be stopped for no apparent reason while walking down the street? That tp of ingrained prejudice is the problem. The white kid is just going to the store. The black kid must be up to no good.

Please post evidence of marchers in Dallas chanting about dead cops. There was a fringe group in New York a year or so ago not affiliated with the Black Lives Matter march who chanted that. I think it was about a dozen people and they marched a couple hours after the BLM march there. You don't need to embrace anything. If you can't see that there is systemic racism in the justice system against blacks then there is no need to be involved. Have you ever heard of Driving While Black? However, don't criticize those who do see the racism and are trying to bring attention to it and force change. Just get out of the way.

How about being stopped for being the wrong color in a white neighborhood with virtually no crime? It happens and we were told "if you don't like it you people can stay out of my town."

Or being asked during a routine traffic stop if my new car was REALLY mine, if it was legal, if I had any drugs on me and WHY was I in THAT neighborhood. Ummm Bc I freaken LIVE HERE. All while he literally had his head looking around my tires like I was transporting guns and drugs.

There are certain towns on my area that we, people of color, know not to go to. Towns that we purposefully don't drive through because it seems the cops always harass people of color. That's the world WE live in.
