It's 8 AM and I'm done with my door buster deals!
Now I'm sitting
and wondering how you all did.
I didn't have anything spectacular on my list, but I got up at 3:30 to get to Koh's by their 4 AM (
)opening so I could get the Cuisinart knife set for $39 that is normally $169! The final price is after the sale price of $89 and $50 rebate, which is already in my mailbox! We've needed a new knife set for a few months now, when I saw that in Kohl's ad, I decided that since I have the day off anyway, I'd get up and see what all the fuss is about on Black Fridays. This is my first one where I've gotten up early to do the door buster sales.
So I get to Kohl's at 3:55 AM, thinking there wouldn't be that many people there that early.
Wrong!
There were 75-100 people ahead of me. But when I got to the kitchen area, they still had about 8 knife sets left, so I was good to go. I also picked up a Food Network brand reusable storage container set that I'd been wanting for 25% off. Between that and the knife set, I also got $20 Kohl's Cash back to use on a future purchase.
So I was out of Kohl's by about 4:30. By 4:45 I was sitting in the Target parking lot. They didn't open until 6:00 AM, there were six people in line when I got there and about a dozen more waiting in their cars. I was dressed warmly so I decided to go ahead and wait outside in line. They had a Kodak digital picture frame ($60)that I wanted two of (to give one to each of my brothers) and I wanted the Camp Rock guitar game ($40) for my nephews. I aslo wanted the cordless screwdriver ($15) they had on sale as a stocking stuffer for DH.
The other people waiting were all very friendly, most were waiting for the flat screen tv they had on sale. By 5:45 I'd guess that there were 200-250 people in line. At that point, a Targe employee came out with a bunch of Starbucks samples, they were the mint mochas, complete with whip cream and chocolate syrup on top!!!! Yummy! It was nice and hot, too! By that time I was freezeing. It was a really nice touch, and reminded me yet again why I prefer to shop at Target as much as I can. They also handed out maps, told us all where the hot items where, and cheerfully answered questions. They had carts ready for us at the front and at several other places through out the store, so it was easy to grab one on the mad dash in.
They opened the door about 2 minutes early (by my watch) and I was able to grab all the items I wanted in about 5 minutes. I headed to check out and there were already long lines, but they opened up another three checkouts while I was standing there so I got out pretty quick. By 6:20 I was back on the road, on my way home!
All in all, it was a pretty nice experiance. All the people waiting were friendly and patient, and the customer service at both Kohl's and Target was great (especially Target!).
So, how did you do?

He hit
) and get in line so we could get the wristband to get a free MP3 player. That was a good idea cause the line quickly kept growing. They opened at 5, we got what we wanted and picked up 2 free MP3 players in the process
