If there is another thread like this, I apologize! Just wanted to post some observations I made this past Black Friday.

My strategy was to wait until the initial throng of people were done at Walmart and Target, so I didn't leave home unitl 3:00. I literally cruised through both of those stores like it was any other day of the week. I was shocked that they had stacks of TVs left at Walmart in the aisle. May be the economy -- I don't know. :confused3 I even commented to a sales lady that I was bummed out that I didn't need a new TV and couldn't justify buying one.

I got to Toys R Us a little before 5:00. The only line there were people waiting for the 5:00 sales to begin, but I didn't have any items going on sale at that time, so I was allowed to bypass them. Old Navy was busy, but not out of control. I skipped my local mall, so I don't know what that was like.

I was home by 6:30 a.m. to take a nap and then headed out to Michael's and Kohl's. These stores were by far the busiest I went to. I guess as the day went on, more and more people came out during "normal hours."

Since I wasn't relying on getting any doorbuster items, my strategy to wait out the initial store openings really paid off. This will definitely be my plan again next year!

Sounds like it woked for you. It wouldn't have worked for me since I wanted some of the front page doorbusters (electronics). I went back to the stores later to look for the things I couldn't find in the hordes of people. It was much easier to shop on the second visit.

That's what I did, too. Surprisingly, when I went back to Walmart, I found a sheet set and a towel. They were good, 600 thread count sheets for $20! I wanted the cheapo ones, but I'll probably use these for years.
