Black Friday Buddies 2011 Unite!

I am interested in the Target or Best Buy IPOD touch deal. Does anyone know if you are able to use the incentive gift card immediately after the purchase or is the an activation window of a certain amount of hours like Toys r Us?

TIA:)

On normal days you can use them right away. If I buy something with a gift card, I break my transaction into 2 so that I can use the gift card on the second half of my order. On BF there may be a lag do to heavy use of their computers and systems. I would call the Target you plan to shop at and ask.

Okay I know nothing about these Kindles, but my daughter wants one! So what is the big difference between the Kindle Touch which I had thought I was going to end up purchasing on Amazon for $99 and the Kindle Keyboard 3G in the Target Ad???? Is it just one is touch and the other is non-touch/keyboard instead???? I'm so not an electronic type person so these things confuse me.
I can get %5 off at Target so it would save me some moolah to get they keyboard one

???????

The Kindle Keyboard has 3G, so she could download books anywhere. The Touch, I believe, is Wi-fi only.
The other difference would be an onscreen touch keyboard, vs a physical keyboard. I think the Keyboard model is a better deal.

The kindle keyboard is a better deal for sure however at the sale price it might be hard to find given limited quantities. If you are willing to pay a little more amazon has the kindle keyboard right now for $99 I believe. They also have the kindle keyboard 3G for 139. I'd doublecheck that the Target one is the one with 3G as there are 2 kindle keyboards available (wi-fi and 3G)

85 vs. 99 for a kindle keyboard wifi- to me- it's not worth standing in line for hours to save 15 bucks. If it's the 3G one? that's a good savings and is worth it IMO.

Is there a secret to know which items will be available on line on black friday? I am hoping to avoid waiting in line at Toys R US..but am not sure what if any of there items will be discounted online.

As for the paper our are always in the Thursday paper (home delivery) but if you want them earlier, so places have an evening edition. So they would very likely be in the wednesday evening edition.

And items online is usually hit or miss. I do remember one year Walmart had a separate ad for online but other than that usually have to just go to the site and hope for the best. Amazon sometime gives prices closer to black friday but they are putting a large emphasis on pre-black friday/cyber monday so I don't know if that means they've changed their sales

EDIT TO ADD: Additionally, online shoppers can shop Office Depot's Black Friday ad starting Thanksgiving Day at 7am EST!

online shoppers can shop their Black Friday specials online starting Thanksgiving Day on Macys.com!

My sister wants to get her grandkids one - DD 14 and I both have the 3G Kindle with keyboard - DD uses the keyboard to "buy" books (she goes through the 'free' books, and some of the 99cent list) She also uses the keyboard to make and manage collections (so she has her books grouped - ie 'currently reading' Fiction, Non fiction, school books, classics, etc

she also used the keyboard to play some of the free games she got on Amazon -

I dont use the keyboard so the non keyboard ($79) kindle still has access to letters - much like the old cellphones and texting - so that would be fine with me, but dd, not so much

A great resource to read about kindles is www.kindleboards.com ask questions, the tips, troubleshooting... forum is very helpful

I will say Amazon Customer Service is GREAT!

Probably a dumb question but...if I don't get to Walmart until 10am will the Xbox/Kinect be sold out? I'm assuming yes, but just curious.

Just poking around on Walmart's corporate site and found this:

"Match Any Competitors Ad
Along with its full plate of Thanksgiving weekend specials Walmart promises to match the price of any local competitor's printed ad for an identical product, including matching competitor’s deals for the day after Thanksgiving."

If you are hoping to price match, Walmart will do it. (I would print out the policy and take it with you just in case there is an issue.) :thumbsup2

Wow that's amazing! I thought they weren't going to do price matching on Black Friday. That's going to make shopping easier. I bet they don't carry most of the electronics and that's why they are wiling to price match. It will still be nice on some of the things though. :woohoo:

Yes, Walmart has already said they will match Black Friday ads, and I had them do it last year, so I can confirm it, and they have said very clearly they will do it again this year...

No, it's not a perfect (for the consumer) arrangement. There are several caveats:
1. It has to be a local competitor, someone with a physical store nearby.
2. It has to be during the hours of the competitor (Walmart will not match Kmart's black friday prices at 3am if Kmart doesn't open until 5am.)
3. The item has to be in-stock at the competitor-- this is the flip side of #2 -- if TRU opens at 9 and you buy all your things at Walmart at 11pm, their policy says they can call the local TRU and see if there are any left on the shelf there, if not, they will not price match

So, while it would be AWESOME (if a bit commando) to load up a cart at walmart starting at 9pm with everything on sale at TRU, everything on sale at Walmart at 10pm, everything from Kohl's and Penney's and TRU 5am, etc, and check out just once at 5am... not only would you be a story the cashier would tell for years to come, but if Walmart chose to call TRU and ask if they had any of those 9pm SuperHoochyDeluxe Dolls left... the answer would almost definitely be "no" and they could deny the price match.

To add to the Walmart scenario up there, if there is another Walmart closer to any of those stores, like TRU, your local Walmart may not price match them at all. Weird, but true.

Ours comes in the Thursday morning paper.

We don't have a subscription, so DH always has to trek out on Thanksgiving morning to get the paper. He doesn't relish this, but we need those BF ads!

Maybe we'll check our grocery store on Wednesday night, and see if Thursday edition is out then.

I have never heard this! In my area you cannot kick a rock without hitting a Walmart! What is the logic behind this?
