Black friday buddies 2010 unite! BACK FROM THE TRENCHES POST YOUR WAR STORIES!

I'm in :). Clearly 58 pages late to the game. Black friday became like a Thanksgiving tradition with my family. I almost enjoy the sport of it all. Most years (including this year) I'm basically done with my own shopping but happily go out and hunt around with people for their gift giving needs.

WalMart is really bringing out all the stops this year apparently. I'm waiting to see how the rest of the world responds. Where I grew up the 4 big places black friday are Walmart, Best Buy, Target, and Toys R Us. This year WalMart is letting people wait inside apparently. For those people shopping in upstate NY this can be a godsend. Altho the one year I shopped down in VA I ended up calling my family and laughing as I stood outside in 70 degree weather while they had 30s.

So does anyone know any good deals in the Kindle are happening this year, or is the 130 the best its gonna get (thats the only real gift I have left - that and a camera for my sister - gotta research the camera a little more but theres a pretty wide selection)

I've been Black Friday shopping with my mom for the past several years, it's our tradition!! but I'm not sure yet about this year as now I have DD. I would be bummed not to go, but would be nervous to leave her with DH who can sleep through anything and might not hear her waking up :lmao: We'll see. Maybe just to Target since they open at 4. That's usually where we hit first anyways.

So excited about this bf! I'm seeing all kinds of good deals I'm interested. :)

Quick question, my Mom is looking for iTunes giftcards. Is the BestBuy deal for $50 gc for $40 the best deal we're going to find? She's on a pretty strict budget, so we're looking for the most economical deal possible. I knew that you all would know because you guys are the shopping gurus.

Right now Micheal's has $25 gift cards for $20.

A couple of weeks ago Walmart had $50 itunes cards for $35. I don't know if they will do that again before Christmas.

For those of you needing HDMI cables to go with your BF purchases, don't fool with an extra trip to the store. Instead, go to monoprice.com , today -- they sell high quality cables of all types/sizes for pennies on the dollar!

They have pretty colors too! Thx for link.

I am debating whether I will need it or not. My current plans now are to grab the Blu-ray from Costco which comes with one. Although that Walmart deal for their $69 looks very very tempting.

Also...Anyone with experience from Westinghouse? I know they are kinda random brand now that apparently rents out their name so I am a tad worried about that. I did go to Target yest and saw a 42" setup and it looked ok.

I am wanting a cheap TV for my room and considering that one or the Vizio from Walmart for $378 with $40 GC bonus. Slightly smaller screen also but Vizio seems like a good brand name. Kinda torn on if I should/could go cheap to last me 2-3 yrs till LED comes down or if I should spring for slightly more money smaller tv that has a better reputation.

We have this Westinghouse and it's great. It's perfect for our smallish living room.

Thanks...I just finished reading some reviews on Vizio from Costco site and I am very surprised at all the negative marks they have. I am heavily leaning towards the Westinghouse if I decide on 40". Might pony up the money for extended warranty on it even though I am so so against them. Could give me little piece of mind that it'll be taken care of for a cpl years.

My parents have a Vizio and it's a good TV. The only thing is that the remote for the cable box doesn't work with the TV (can't remember if there just wasn't a code for it or if the code didn't work). So you need to have an extra remote out to turn on the tv and switch between the functions.

I was told that about Westinghouse also...he said that he can push the TV button to turn it off but the button to turn them both off only shuts the box down. Someone else via the net mentioned that the Westinghouse doesn't work with universal remotes.

Not a terribly bad thing for me because I don't have a cable box, just basic cable and streaming via netflix.

I've got a Vizio and am very happy with it. Its lasted for 4 years too at this point no problems.

Thank you! No, I'm not a gamer. I like to read (not play games) on FB, surf the web, and I'm taking online grad classes.

I'm with you on the daily uses... I too was wondering if this would be a good deal or if I should try for the $298.00 one. I hope to get at least one of them!!!!
