Black friday buddies 2010 unite! BACK FROM THE TRENCHES POST YOUR WAR STORIES!

I want to go to some of the Black Friday Sales but I will be stuck at home with the kiddo's while DH is out shopping. Does anyone know for sure which stores will be offering online sales during the Black Friday Sales? I really am looking at Walmart, Target, Gamestop, and Raido Shack.

Hi everyone! I am a newer Black Friday shopper...last year was my first time! Can anyone tell me the price matching policy between Walmart and Target? I am looking at both ads and am figureing that there is no way I will be able to get to both sales in time to get the items tht I need before they run out. How does price matching work on the ads?

Last year when I asked Target to price match they wanted me to buy it at the register for their price then take it to Customer Service to have them refund the difference. I handed her the stuff and walked out. Got the last one at Walmart and they price matched stuff from Target right at the register. The general rule for most places is you have to have the actual ad with you to do it. Some will only match certain things and I found at Target they wouldn't match stuff with timed sales. Not slamming Target mind you because they're really good about giving me the price on like items that are on sale even though that particular item isn't on sale but they seem a little confused on Black Friday, like they're not sure what their policies ARE. At least at the one near me. I would skip it this year and head straight to Walmart if they didn't have two "exclusives" I want.
Here's e-how on Walmart:

Here's Target's Policy (note:the site I found this posted said the same as I did, they tend to make up things as they go along):

eta:In my opinion it would be easier to price match at Walmart then Target if that is your plan.

My Target won't price match at all :(

Oh, but Target most certainy will price-match (at least they are supposed to, whether they are in my town, or Philly).

The rules are that it must be a competitor's current printed ad (not an internet printout). It also cannot be from one of the membership warehouse clubs (Costco, Sam's Club, or BJ's Wholesale) or other "members-only" stores.

Target also will not price-match any internet retailer, to include their own Target.com website.

And, across the board, retail stores of all types will typically not price-match competitors' "doorbuster deals" on Black Friday.

I missed the walmart ad! Will someone PLEASE PRETTY PLEASE PM it to me? I am begging!!! Have a great night everyone!! God Bless!

Aren't all WM Supercenters 24 hour stores? They always have been here for years and years. Now the regular Wal-Marts that are not Supercenters so they aren't open 24 hours, but the supercenters are always 24 hours. That store in Long Island NY was not a Supercenter -- just a regular Wal-Mart. We don't even have any regular Wal-marts here anymore. The are all 24 hour stores and are only closed on Christmas Day.

I believe all WM Supercenters are 24-hour stores (whereas many of the old-school WM Discount Stores aren't).

However, up until last year, all WM stores of all types (Discount Stores/Supercenters/Neighborhood Markets) were always closed on Thanksgiving Day and reopened on BF @ 5:00 a.m. (Kmart pretty much had Thanksgiving Day all to themselves). The Long Island WM incident in 2008 was a game-changer, as WM decided to keep all stores open on Thanksgiving, so there wouldn't be a gaggle of crazed shoppers lined-up outside the store (and possibly putting someone's life in danger when the doors swung open on BF).

However, there could be a few Supercenters out there that may not be 24-hour stores, since a few communities seem to consider WM to be something of a lightning rod for controversy.

As I posted a page or so back, our WM SuperCenter is open from 6am until midnight. Probably because we are in a relatively small town. The one in the next county over has the same hours.

Or it could simply be because state or local zoning laws don't allow retail establishments to be open 24 hours (except by special permit) or on a very few holidays.

Okay, my husband wants me to get the wii in the walmart ad. Doesn't it say online only for that bundle?? If so, when will it be available online? Thanks!! :)

Holly, would you mind telling me what the Wii deal is? If you could PM me I'd really appreciate it :-)

My 24 hour Walmart didn't close at all last year. We went at 11pm to ask a few questions about the ad...grabbed a couple of items...and then went back at 4am after we hit up Old Navy.

For those interested in Target BF deals, you can go to the store on Wed. just before closing, buy the BF deals and then go in on Friday after the crowds have calmed down and get a price adjustment. I did this last year with a friend. We both bought 32" TV's. I also bought a Tom Tom GPS and my friend bought a camera -- all Black Friday deals. The sales clerk who went to the back room to bring out the TV's said we would not receive PA's the next day. But we went in the next day and got PA's no problem!!!

Some Targets may not allow it. Ours said it didn't allow it, but it did. I'm going to do that again this year if there's anything I need from Target.

I haven't been following bf this year, until now.. can someone email me or pm the walmart scan? also does anyone know if kmarts turkey day or bf ad is out? I still have no idea what i'm looking for this year.. I"m late to this party!

I did the same thing with our Target, no problems whatsoever. But, I have heard that they are changing the wording in this years ad, so who knows? I actually want one of their TV's so I just may try it again... Doesn't hurt to try! :thumbsup2

Guess I was wrong with the DSi's. Thought they would be on sale big time with the new one coming out in a few months. Oh well. Just gotta try to come up with some more money before the sales next week :rotfl: I dont like how TRU is doing it this year with 1/2 on sale at 10PM then 1/2 on sale at 5AM. I have to divide my night between them and Walmart then hit both again in the morning. Plus my Disney store said they are doing 20% off everything with some other sales and opening at midnight so I guess its gonna be a hard ride that night into the AM hours

I tried this 2 years ago, and they didn't have the black Fri. stuff on the shelves yet. They held the stock and brought it out on pallets for Fri. morning. (this was for the larger electronic items - I'm sure clothing and things was on the racks.

I tried this last year but it didn't work with me. :guilty: The big ticket items weren't on the floor and the salespeople weren't budging. I saw 2 people ask them and they said come back Friday.
Good luck to who ever can do this! :thumbsup2
