BL Summer Challenge 2009

Friday QOTD: How did you do this past week? Are you happy with your progress? If not, how what will you do differently this week?

I was to busy this past week to even think about anything. My sister in law who was a close friend was found dead on Tuesday. :confused:It has been a week of chaos. I gained 1.2 lbs.

Saturday QOTD: What is the biggest obstacle to your weight loss and how will you address it?

My biggest obstacle is ME. My weight comes not from a lack of knowledge but from a lack of applied knowledge. I know what I should eat and do when it comes to excercise, but I choose badly. I need to make better choices.

Sunday QOTD: If you could have any role at WDW, what would it be?

I would want to Belle. I love reading. I think it would be great to do StoryTime With Belle and be able to read outloud to children.

I so hear you on this! For the last few years when people ask me what my New Year's resolution is, I always respond "Apply What I Know". :lmao:

Sunday QOTD: If you could have any role at WDW, what would it be?
I have always wanted to be Ariel in the Voyage of the Little Mermaid show, but I'd take any of the performing roles. If DH could get work near Orlando, I would totally move there. ;)

If I could do any role at WDW I would be Cinderella's fairy Godmother...I don't know why that role appeals to me...maybe because it is the only costume I could currently fit into! Ha Ha. Ok, so if I don't take into account size, I think I would like to be Mary Poppins! I love her outfit!

As for how I have done the past few days...pretty well. I am start of getting into the exercise thing. My past 2 work outs at the gym have both been for over an hour of cardio and before that was my 5 k walk. I have been doing 33 minutes on the precor and 27-35 minutes on the treadmill at a decent clip. I have been sweating like a pig but feel good about how long I stay on each of the machines...it is pure will power...and all the quotes from you all in my head. I actually started repeating the "just keep swimming, just keep swimming" today when I was on the precor. Also, I kept thinking that what I was doing was an investment in myself. I work overtime at work to be able to put money in the bank and to go to DL and WDW...I invest in those experiences, so why shouldn't I do the same thing with myself. Invest the time in exercise which I know will help me be thinner and stronger so I will be able to enjoy those experiences so much more and be able to be around for so many more. Also, the less money I have to spend on the doctor for weight related issues, the more money I can spend on DL and WDW!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Sunday QOTD: If you could have any role at WDW, what would it be?

As a guest! ;)

It has been a crazy busy few days. We ended up with DSIL and her other half with their new baby come down for a BBQ yesterday to celebrate DMIL's 60th. It wasn't supposed to be at our house, but plans changed, and it worked out great. Saved 1.5hour drive each way for us! Baby Emily is 2 weeks old, and I was not shy about wanting to hold her, so got to hold her lots for her visit. After 2 kids, and other nieces and nephews, changing bums on newborns is no problem, so I took care of that while they were here.

I was busy studying today and will be studying every evening until Thursday when I write my exam, and then no course over the summer! :cool1:

And I've got a job interview on June 17th, which I think I've got a 50/50 chance at, so its worth using a vacation day to go to the interview. :cool1:

I've got most of the WI's already. We've got 3 people who haven't reported in for 3weeks now, so I'll be taking them off the list. And there's still another 9 people to report in. I'll either put out the results Monday or Tuesday night depending on when a study break works best!

Have a great Monday everybody!

Good Monday morning. It is sunny but humid here in jersey this morning. I hate getting dressed and doing your makeup and have it melt off your face before you leave home.

Just wanted to stop in and say good morning before the day got too crazy.

Good morning, losers!

Sunday QOTD: If you could have any role at WDW, what would it be?

In my dreams I would be Cinderella but that is not going to happen at this stage of my life. Realistically, I would be a merchandise hostess because I had that gig at DL 30 years ago. But, truly, I agree with LuvBaloo that the best role is guest!

:grouphug:, Riverhill. I am so sorry to hear about your sister-in-law. You can't control a lot of the things that are going on in your life now, but you can make sure that you take care of yourself, too. I will keep you and your family in my thoughts.

This was my initial response when I first saw that QOTD, too. ;)

Way to go on the exercise and taking care of yourself! I know you are going to see great results with all that hard work! :thumbsup2

A good morning to you, too, donac. :goodvibes How long until school is out?

Hope that everyone has a great, OP day today! :flower3:

Good luck with the test and interview, LuvBaloo, and thanks for being our weightkeeper! :goodvibes

Please report your weigh in to Shannon ASAP, if you haven't already. And if you are one of the three who haven't reported in three weeks remember after three weeks of not reporting your weight to the weight keeper you are removed from the challenge but if you decide to rejoin you are welcomed with open arms. all you have to do is PM your weight to LuvBaloo. :flower3:

Ew ... I know the feeling! Wheneve I'm having a "good skin" day I go without makeup down here in SC--I hatehatehate hot makeup face!

GL with your interview Shannon! I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

Friday QOTD: How did you do this past week? Are you happy with your progress? If not, how what will you do differently this week?

This week I went from 186 to 180. This is my first real, active week of diet an exercise and I've always heard that the first week can be a big one, so I'm really pleased. My healthy weekly weight loss goal is around 2-2.5 pounds per week.
This week was tough for me, in terms of keeping track of what I ate. My sister was in town and we ate out a LOT--uckily I was carrying a calorie guide with me. We also ate teppanyaki style Japanese, and I can't find calorie counts for that type of food anywhere! On Saturday my niece turned one and there was a cookout--I resisted birthday cake and ice cream, but when I got home I found out that the hamburger patties had 500 calories each! I got in some exercise to make up for it, but it was a good reminder of how deceptive foods can be (it was a tiny patty!).

Saturday QOTD: What is the biggest obstacle to your weight loss and how will you address it?

Probably it's being surrounded by people who enjoy food a lot and eat out constantly. My sisters called me three times on Friday to invite me to a CUPCAKE store, knowing that I'm on a diet! Cruelty. Later that night, after eating healthy all day, I treated myself to some Sinless Sweet Cream ice cream at Cold Stone Creamery to use up my leftover calories for the day. I even got strawberries and yellow cake mixed in. It was wonderful. :goodvibes

Sunday QOTD: I agree, I'd be a guest!

Sunday QOTD: If you could have any role at Disney, what would it be?

I'd be an Imagineer -- in a "guaranteed for life" position so I couldn't get downsized! I would love to dream up new adventures, parades, etc. for the guests. I would love the opportunity to be so creative on a daily basis.

Hugs to Riverhill -- I can't imagine what you are going through right now. You and your family are in my prayers.

Awesome loss, Tessiemez!

Thanks again to Shannon for being our weightkeeper, and best of luck with your interview! Refresh my memory, what are you studying for?

I would love to work at Space Mountain. Just the thought of walking around the floor of this wonderfull attraction

Maria,
I've been working in an industrial lab for 13 years, but its in a different town than where DH works. So I started taking courses 3 years ago (just one at a time) to increase my chances of finding a new job. The interview I've got next week is doing similiar stuff to what I do now, but in a pulp mill instead of a fibreboard plant. The nice thing, is that if I get that job, they help cover moving expenses. My goal is find something I'll enjoy that its the same town as DH, so that he can be home every night without doing the 1.5hr drive to get home.:goodvibes

Great job with the loss! And good job with the alternative while still being nice to yourself!

I started working at DL right after Space Mountain opened. My dressing room was in Space Mountain and I could hear people screaming while I got ready. It was amazing all the stuff they found on the floor at night after they closed for the day. :lmao:

Good evening friends! I don't have much to say and I don't have much energy left today, but I just wanted to jump on and say hello. Glad to see everyone keeping up with the QOTD. I just didn't have the time over the weekend to keep up with answering them, but I love to read everyone's responses. I'm sleepy, so I will say good night! Maybe I'll have more time tomorrow to "chat".....................P

Sorry the QOTD is so late, I just got back into town after seeing RENT!

MONDAY QOTD: What is your favorite "bad food"? Do you stay away from it all together or do you find a way to work it in?

Okay, let me clarify Sunday's QOTD. Role is Disney talk for any job. Even if you aren't "entertainment" you still have a role in the show. Example: my first College Program my role was Fantasyland Attractions. So this does not have tobe a performer. You could choose any job at the park. So merchandise, Jungle Cruise Skipper, etc. Basically, what would be your dream job if you could work for WDW? Feel free to revise your answers.

I figured that's what you meant. ;) If I couldn't get in a performing role, I would totally want to be a Jungle Cruise skipper - one of my favorite rides. When I was, like, 9, I used to guide a raft around my grandfather's pool and pretend to give the Jungle Cruise tour. :rotfl:

MONDAY QOTD: What is your favorite "bad food"? Do you stay away from it all together or do you find a way to work it in?
Almost any dessert! Ice cream or cookies - would like to eat them every day. I go in spurts - I'll try to have fruit for "dessert" for a week or so, then eat reduced fat ice cream for a week or two. I sometimes have no problem staying away from sweets, but that doesn't last long. Truly addicted, I suppose.
