BL Summer Challenge 2009

Sunday QOTD: If you could have any role at WDW, what would it be?

I would want to be the person that get's to go around the park and make special things happen like take a family to the front of the line that just got to WDW.

I did well this weekend, even at the race yesterday. They have these booths that you go to and they give stuff away. The National Guard had a booth for their driver and if you did 30 push ups or 15 pull ups (as a woman - men had to do 50 push ups) you got a free T-shirt for their racer Dale Earnhardt Jr. My daughter wanted one, not sure why because we like Jimmie Johnson - but she was afraid to do the push ups because she wasn't sure she could do it. She talked me into it. All of the guys who came up were not doing the 50. One other girl did 30, but almost everyone who came up couldn't. I wasn't sure because of the pain I sometimes get in my shoulder, but I thought I could do it. Guess who got a t-shirt - yep, I did my 30. By 25 my arms were shaking though. But I did it :)

My daughter did 30 tonight, so she could have got one too. She just wasn't sure.

I was asked today to take someone to their house while at work so they could let out their dogs because there car was in the shop. I told her I wanted to stop somewhere to eat before going back and she said let's stop at this place around the corner. I asked her if they had healthy options and she said yes they make stuff fresh. I half asked if it's a diner but just said I don't like diner food. It was a diner - yuck everything was fried or totally not healthy. Even the salads had mayo or ham only - no chicken or anything like that (except chicken salad). I got a side salad with no dressing or croutons and then went afterwards and got a slice of pizza. I felt bad- I don't like to seem so picky - but I really don't like diner's. It's always fried, frozen processed, greasy fattening food.

MONDAY QOTD: What is your favorite "bad food"? Do you stay away from it all together or do you find a way to work it in?

Hmm bad foods -Well I normally try to stay with clean foods as a rule, so technically those foods are all not bad.

Probably chocolate is the one thing I can't or won't give up. What I do eat is organic 85% dark chocolate and I eat a little here orthere. I even put it in one of my smoothies when I want more of a dessert smoothie.

As far as bad foods go....ice cream mixed with candy...like Dairy Queen or Cold stone. I try to avoid having those in general but do allow some ice cream on occasion or some skinny cows so ice cream type food. It helps me from feeling deprived.

Hope everyone is having a good day! I am looking forward to seeing the results tomorrow - thanks LuvBaloo!

Tuesday QOTD: What is your favorite non Disney vacation?

Is there such a thing? Hmmmmm, ok, I got one. I loved the trip I took to Cabo when my son was 7 months old. We stayed in these beautiful condos right on the beach with a view of the famous arch. We could walk down the beach to a restaurant with tables in the sand and have breakfast. The pool had a swim up bar. It was great! I'd love to try Europe sometime though, or Bora Bora, or Australia. Ah dreams

Sarah

My favorite "bad" food is chocolate, and I eat too much of it, even when I'm being "restrained"!

My favorite non-Disney vacation is to cruise, although we've also cruised with Disney and that was fun, too! Our favorite non-Disney cruise destination is Bermuda's beautiful pink sand beaches!

Good Tuesday morning. Foggy and humid here in jersey. If we don't get to mow fil's lawn today I just don't know how high it is going to be when we do get there. We didn't go yesterday and by looking at the radar they had rain down by them. Fil's is not right around the corner. It is 35 minutes away.

Tuesday QOTD: What is your favorite non Disney vacation?
Last summer before we went to DW dh and I spent 3 days in the Fl Keys. I loved the snorkeling in Key Largo. I also love all the museums and things around Washington DC.

Have a great day everyone.

Tuesday QOTD: What is your favorite non Disney vacation?

I love a trip to our NC mountains, it is so peaceful and relaxing.

MONDAY QOTD: What is your favorite "bad food"? Do you stay away from it all together or do you find a way to work it in?

Chips and salsa although the salsa isn't too bad...when we go to our fav Mexican restaurant I break the chips into small pieces to make them last longer and eat more salsa than chips:thumbsup2.

Need to move on to check a few other things before signing off the computer. Have a great day everyone!!

Good morning, losers!

Good evening friends! I don't have much to say and I don't have much energy left today, but I just wanted to jump on and say hello. Glad to see everyone keeping up with the QOTD. I just didn't have the time over the weekend to keep up with answering them, but I love to read everyone's responses. I'm sleepy, so I will say good night! Maybe I'll have more time tomorrow to "chat".....................P

Sorry you ran out of steam -- that happens some days. :flower3: Sounds like you go a lot done on the week-end.

MONDAY QOTD: What is your favorite "bad food"? Do you stay away from it all together or do you find a way to work it in?

My favorite bad food would have to be marble cake with buttercream (the real stuff icing). Oh, it's so good -- I think it reminds me of birthday cake. If I'm at a party, I will just have a small slice and not eat the whole thing. But when my birthday rolls around next month, I will have to bank up some WW points so I can have a real piece and eat the whole thing! :cake: I am also a sucker for buttered popcorn but I can make do with air popped and some lemon pepper and be just fine.

Probably chocolate is the one thing I can't or won't give up. What I do eat is organic 85% dark chocolate and I eat a little here orthere. I even put it in one of my smoothies when I want more of a dessert smoothie.

ITA, Melanie, I wouldn't give up chocolate either!

Tuesday QOTD: What is your favorite non Disney vacation?

My favorite non Disney vacation is our annual trip to Lake Okoboji in Iowa. We have a place that has been in my husband's family for 116 years and we go for a week every summer. Part of the house is original from when it was purchased in 1893. It is a funky, fun place.

Your so nice to help FIL like that! Waiting for things to dry out so you can mow is a problem around here sometimes, too.

Chips and salsa although the salsa isn't too bad...when we go to our fav Mexican restaurant I break the chips into small pieces to make them last longer and eat more salsa than chips:thumbsup2.

Yum! Chips and salsa!

Have a great OP day, everyone!

Hello again, losers! I am catching up on my emails and found this interesting quote from Elvis Presley in a SparkPeople email: "When things go wrong, don't go with them." Here is a excerpt from the email:

Does it ever feel like trouble follows you around and won’t cut you any slack? Sometimes it feels like you can’t buy a break and everything you try just makes things worse. Who could blame you for feeling sorry for yourself or not forgive a little self-destructive behavior? Bad idea. The new way to spend down times is to lift yourself up and operate at a higher level. Remember that what happens to you is not who you are. It’s history. It’s past. Your true self takes that history and decides how to make the best possible future out of it. You have the power to keep your attitude and values from driving into the ditch along with the events in your life. From defeat, you can still emerge victorious.

Here is the link, if you are interested, http://www.sparkpeople.com/resource/quotes_translation.asp?id=260

I thought that this is a good quote for us now as we are past the first few exciting weeks of our challenge and still have a long ways to go on our journey. Our healthy new habits may not be as established as we would like and heck, it's summer, we want to take off too! We are all going to have days that are better than others. Don't let a bad day, or a series of bad days, negate all your hard work and push you off the road to success.

Have a great day, losers!

Cruising - we usually do Carnival because I think its great for kids, and very affordable.

Yesterday's QOTD - the food I must give up is chips - any kind - I could sit down and devour a bag of doritos without blinking. Can't let myself go there. I really can't eat just one!

MONDAY QOTD: What is your favorite "bad food"? Do you stay away from it all together or do you find a way to work it in?

I guess I would have to say potato chips. I can control most of my food desires (chocolate, ice cream, carbs).... but potato chips are another thing. Even the Baked Lays I have trouble controlling. And I recently found a new "chip love".... Sweet potato chips.... OH MY GOSH! YUMMMMMMY! I bought a bag and thought I could dole them out sparingly...NOT! I ate the entire "6 serving" bag in two sittings... not a good thing at 11 grams of FAT per serving!! So I will NOT be buying them again any time soon. I am better off just avoiding them all together.

Tuesday QOTD: What is your favorite non Disney vacation?

We took a trip out west a few years ago (admittedly, the trip ended with 3 days at DL). We started in NM and continued through AZ and saw the Grand Canyon... then we headed into Nevada and saw the Hoover Dam and a quick evening on the Vegas strip. We saw so many amazing things. It was truly the best trip of our lives even without the DL part... but of course, that was the icing on the cake! DH and I were actually talking about it last night and I'm trying to start planning another similar trip out west (concluding in DL again, of course!!;)).;)

Lisa, your post was really inspiring. It is so true, that when life is doling out CRAP that it is so easy to indulge in lots of self-destructive behavior (such as over-eating), but honestly... what does that really achieve??

I'm busy here at work again, so I must run now. I hope everyone is having a terrific day!.....................P

Sorry the QOTD is so late, I just got back into town after seeing RENT!

MONDAY QOTD: What is your favorite "bad food"? Do you stay away from it all together or do you find a way to work it in?

Was Rent fantastic?
I have far too many favourite bad foods, and I find ways to work them in. For me, being good all the time, just leads to completely blowing it down the road.

Okay, let me clarify Sunday's QOTD. Role is Disney talk for any job. Even if you aren't "entertainment" you still have a role in the show. Example: my first College Program my role was Fantasyland Attractions. So this does not have tobe a performer. You could choose any job at the park. So merchandise, Jungle Cruise Skipper, etc. Basically, what would be your dream job if you could work for WDW? Feel free to revise your answers.

If I was working at Disney, I'd want to be behind the scenes making/repairing costumes.

Tuesday QOTD: What is your favorite non Disney vacation?

DH and I have done some fun road trips, where we stop and do stuff along the way. I'd like to do a trip to Cabo since I really enjoyed our stop their on a cruise. I'd also like to try another Cruise Line.

MelanieC - way to go on earning the T-shirt! :worship:I definitely would not have passed.

Tuesday QOTD: What is your favorite non Disney vacation?
My Non-Disney Vacation would be to spend 5-7 days in St Louis Missouri. I have been there twice (1997 & 2005) I love going up in the Gateway Arch and see the city . The Arch is the most Beautiful structure I have ever seen. St Louis has a great Science Musieum and a beautiful Zoo

Wow.... someplace I have actually been! DD and I went to St.L a few years ago for Mother/Daughter weekend (part of a bigger trip to see the Laura Ingalls Wilder home in southern MO). The arch was AMAZING!! And the zoo is terrific (and FREE). I can totally understand loving that city............P

Anyone else anxious to hear from the weight keeper? I am hoping for good things! LuvBaloo....come out come out where ever you are!

I'm way behind on QOTD. :confused3

My favorite bad food is actually a drink. I grew up drinking Mountain Dew and I'm SOOOOOOO addicted. I HATE diet and I think theres nothing better than a good cold one in a can. But alas, they are very bad for my weight loss, so I've started buying just the little mini cans and I don't have one every day. I will drink pop a little when we go out, but I usually order water and just sip on my daughter's. That way I haven't told myself NO and that is a big thing for me.

My fav non-Disney vacation...well nothing else comes close but if I had to chose Myrtle Beach. Thats where our time share is and I've been going there forever. Now that I've been there/done that/got the t-shirt I relax more at the beach and just enjoy it when we're there.

If I could have any job at Disney it would probably be to either work at the Fire Station gift shop just inside the MK. Dh is a Firefighter and most of them are really cool. OR I'd like to drive a monorail. OR work any place thats inside and in the AC out of the Hot Florida sun and humidity.

I'm trying really hard to stay on track. This morning I hit 209:cool1:Thats down from 218 when I started. I'm trying to fit in exercise everywhere I get the chance (doing extra chores in the barn, laps in the pool, walking further at the grocery store, etc.) I'm reaching for water and not Mountain Dew which is hard to do. I'm cooking baked/crockpot chicken alot.

Thats pretty much the update on me. We're going to TN next week and I plan on staying right on track. I'll be doing so much walking at Dollywood it will offset eating a few of my favs while I'm there.
