BL Summer Challenge 2009

I am feeling really big right now. Granted, I am pretty large, but normally I don't feel that way. I feel weighted down. I think part of it is I am sleepy and just had a large, more points than usual at lunch meal. I don't like the feeling though.

Sarah

:grouphug: its been a while since you posted this. I hope you are feeling more normal now. Sometimes a big lunch can make me feel bloated especially if it had a bunch of salt.

Just got back from Great Wolf and thought I'd check in--- was so excited to see that I made the top 10-- it really has inspired me to keep going--

I have made real strives to eat healty (Lots of fruits and veggies) -- drinking lots of water walking almost every day---

and I really noticed a difference at Great Wolf-- normally I would be tired and huffing and puffing thru the waterpark-- this time I was full of energy and felt like I could jog thru the resort--

before we left home to go to the park I did something I have never done before--
I cup up carrots, brocoli, cauliflower and celery--
cup up watermelon, kiwis, strawberries and bought bannas--
mini bagels and low fat cream cheese for breakfast
made 2 containers full of healthy sandwiches-- and brought tons of water and juice boxes for kids--

and thats what we brought down with us---

old me would have packed pringles , cheez doodle, pop tarts, chips ahoys etc etc and would have ordered hotdogs or burgers while we were there.

here's to a great week

QOTD some of my fav quotes

funny quote

You have to stay in shape. My grandmother, she started walking five miles a day when she was 60. She's 97 today and we don't know where the hell she is.
Ellen Degeneres

I just came from a doctor's appointment. She mentioned that my BMI was a little high. I laughed and said, "Well, I've lost 52 pounds in the last five months. I can't do much more than that!" She looked at me astonished and started looking back at my records and then she seemed very excited and impressed. She kept asking questions like how'd I do it, what am I eating, have I gained any back (no, I explained that I'm still using) and what program do I have on my iPhone. It was very fun. The weight part has never been my favorite part of doctor visits, but eventhough I haven't reached my goal, today it felt pretty awesome! :woohoo:

Who would have thought that being a Loser could be so much fun? :rotfl:

monday qotd- What do you do for exercise? How do you keep motivated to keep it up?

I work out on the wii. I also go walking. I'm not doing so good at keeping it up. School has been brutal this last week.
Yesterday on the way to the Nascar race my allergies came out with a vengance.
Did you go to the Dover race? How lucky are you!:cheer2:

Tuesday qotd= Do you have any inspirational quotes you think of to help you keep on track when there are temptations, or you just aren't feeling motivated?

I really don't have a qoute I just think about what those other Dis BL girls are doing or eating. :rotfl:

I had a pretty yummy Lean Cuisine for dinner it was salmon with orzo rice and spinach and carrots.

Tuesday qotd= Do you have any inspirational quotes you think of to help you keep on track when there are temptations, or you just aren't feeling motivated?

I don't know if this is considered an "inspirational quote" but the other day while walking, it was time for me to do my jogging segment. While jogging I just kept thinking of Dorey saying "Just keep swimming, just keep swimming" then I just kind of transformed it in my mind to just keep running, just keep running.

Sort of silly, but it worked at the time!:rotfl:

Sigh. I just weighed in and stayed the same. It's better than gaining, so I'll take it!

I'm very proud of myself that I journalled all week. Writing down the points for everything was eye opening. I never realized how many points I went through in a week.

/
Jessi, I know exactly what you mean about journaling opening your eyes. I was amazed when I started WW and realized that when I thought I was okay, I really wasn't.

Did you go to the Dover race? How lucky are you!:cheer2:

Yep and we are going to the Pocono's race this weekend. This is our 3rd race since the end of March. My son has been in heaven. The best part is that my daughter and I love Jimmie Johnson. Ever since we started going to Nascar races a few years back, every race we go to he has won. DD17 and I are hoping our luck holds out this weekend and he wins again. Let me tell you that even though I was so hot on Sunday (what possesed me to wear jeans I will never know), got sunburned and had horrible allergies.........the end of the race was so exciting. My knees were literally shaking by the last lap. I mean he dominated the entire race and then because of the mix-up in the pits he was in 9th. It was so fun to see him climb his way to first. Those last 30 laps were the best of the whole race.

Thankfully today my allergy medicine is kicking in and my sunburn isn't hurting anymore. I plan on wearing a baseball cap this weekend because I actually think I had either a little sun poisoning or heat exhaustion because I really wasn't feeling too good Sunday night or yesterday. Thank goodness I only have allergies that come either May or June and usually only last a few weeks. I pretty sure it's grass I'm allergic too.

Well today is ending well. I wanted a snack again tonight, but I was strong and didn't eat after dinner. I wasn't hungry, but you know how you get that urge for that snack as if it's a right. I'm trying to keep my calories for the rest of the week between 1200-1400 because I had such a high Friday and Saturday. If I squeak out a loss this week I'll be happy. So far I'm above where I was at WI on Friday. But - I've got 3 more days to hopefully move it in the other direction. I'd love to lose at least a pound.

It's Wednesday tomorrow - where is the week going. 65 more days to Disney. I need to get busy on the exercise but I'm still making excuses and not just doing it!

:guilty::guilty:Sorry everybody. I messed up the stats yesterday and ranked everybody according to pounds lost instead of % lost for last week.
Now I've got it corrected and its the top 15 list! All the names are still there, just in slightly different order, and one more person has been added. Once again I am sorry for the mistake!

HERE's the Correct version
(thanks to Dare2Dream! I have borrowed her writing and just modified it!)

Before the weekly superstar list comes the disclaimer. I am human and I make mistakes. If you have any questions please contact me. For your reference this is the magic percentage of weight lost formula - weight loss for the week divided by weight for last week times 100, that gives us the percentage. Now let me test that with my numbers and click, click, click goes the calculator. Yes, that agrees with the percentage on the magic spreadsheet.

Now let's get to the good stuff. Who were our superstars of week 2? To keep it simple, I’ll list the Top 10 Losers! There was lots of ties in the top 10, so there's actually more than 10 names on the list. That criteria may change from week to week. Hey I'm in charge here and I get paid nothin' to do this so you better take what you can get!;);):rotfl:

Thank you so much Luvbaloo for being the weightkeeper, and no need for apologie. We are lucky to have you do it.
onward and downward!
I always like this saying.

Yes, I've heard that one quote for a long time. It's an oldie but a goodie. The proverb "Fall down seven times, get up eight" has been my mantra recently. I also like one of the quotes that I think Maria gave us: "dead last finish is better than did not finish is better than did not start." But lately I've enjoyed this one "Listen to all, plucking a feather from every passing goose, but follow no one absolutely." - Chinese proverb. I think it's supposed to mean that everyone you encounter can teach you something but thinking about plucking passing gooses makes me giggle. I like your wiggle/giggle quote, too, Kathy. :goodvibes
Those are great quotes. I can see you plucking feathers from geese.
It's a Journey not a destination. .
I need to remember this too, and remember where we are on our journey, and compare where we've been, and even if the destination doesn't seem close, we have come so far.

Tomorrow is always fresh with no mistakes in it. Sarah
That's a good one.

"I'm worth it!"
:
Simple and to the point. We are all worth it.

. "If you bite it, write it," "A moment on the lips, forever on the hips." "Beer before liquor, never sicker." "Thirty days hath September, April, June and November."

"If you want something bad enough, you will do the work."

It's from a woman I saw at a race this spring and have started reading her continuing healthy journey online. Her blog is at Priorfatgirl.com.
These are great. Gotta remember the beer one. Thanks for the link. I"ll have to check it out.

Congrats on your succes at great wolf. It's amazing how our tastes can change, and how we can break those bad habits from the past. Great quotes.

Nice job on the journalling. It really does make a difference, and opens our eyes sometimes.

Wed qotd- What is one or more of your favorite disney memories?

On our last trip my son had made a tshirt with chip and dale on it, and and he wore it several days, and I carried it in my backpack the rest of the week and we never found chip and dale until the last morning and they were at the front of epcot. They made such a big deal out of seeing themselves on his shirt and he was soooo excited and proud. I was crying. Don't know if I would have been so emotional if it wasn't our last day, but he was just so thrilled. On his first trip when he was 4 the first characters we met were chip and dale on the way into MK, and they set the mood for him, teasing him and poking his head, and he just loved meeting characters that trip, which was awesome because he was scared of most of the rides.

Hope that you are feeling better now. Sometimes after those big meals we just don't feel like ourselves. After something like that I ususally say to myself, "well, that wasn't as good as I thought it would be!"

You can also make your own tahini if you have a food processor and some sesame seeds. I have a friend who does this because her daughter is allergic to nuts and has a hard time finding tahini that promises not to be made on the same machines as nut products.

I may have to try that this week-end as I am told there is a tahini shortage in this area and has been for awhile. Luckily, there are some pretty good premade hummuses around but Melanie's recipe sounds so good with the lemon and all. I love lemony hummus!

Sigh. I just weighed in and stayed the same. It's better than gaining, so I'll take it!

Journalling is an eye opener. I had the same problem, turns out a lot of what I was eating was 5 or 6 points and just not that satisfying. And you didn't gain so that is a step in the right direction. :goodvibes

Awww! That sounds so sweet. I get lumps in my throat and all weepy all over the place at DL and WDW. I have so many good memories that it is hard to pick one. My son is very good at finding Hidden Mickeys so I have lots of good memories of him finding them all over. Also, last time we were at DL we were riding in the front of the monorail into the park and got to see all the lights on the castle and It's a Small World -- it was truly magical!

Have a great day losers!

Wed qotd- What is one or more of your favorite disney memories?

WOW I have so many.

I'm going to list several that are in the running for the top.

One of the best doesn't include my family. How sad is that. But it was when I finished the Disney 1/2 Marathon in 2005. It really was a defining moment in my life and I'll never forget it, along with the memories of the wonderful WISH people I met that weekend.

I have two moments of my son's that stand out.

I think it was either 2005 or 2006, we were at AK and we were standing on the bridge in between EE and where Nemo was being built. The boat with the characters is coming by and Mickey is pointing towards my son. He announces "Mickey is pointing at ME". He was just beaming at pride thinking Mickey was making eye contact with him.

Another memory for my son is when he named a duck in MK Bob. The rest of the trip and to this day every Duck in WDW is named BOB. No matter how many of them there are or where we see them - There is Bob. When we went in March, my DD and I laughed every time we saw "Bob's".

As a family, one of the coolest moments was when we came for a trip in Nov. We had just arrived on our first day and it was afternoon. We headed straight for MK and we were on our way to do our first ride of the trip on Splash Mountain. As we were about to get in line, a CM stops us and asks have we ridden this yet. We told her not during this trip we just arrived. She said come with me and took us right up through the exit and got us on the next log. What a magical start to a vacation.

For my daughter - one year we searched for days and days for Daisy. That is all she wanted was to see Daisy. Finally on our last full day we got to see Daisy in MK. The look on her face was priceless.

Another one for my daughter was just the two of us going to Disney in March of this year for her cheerleading competition. Getting to see her perform at Wide World of Sports and place 2nd out of 11 other squads in her Division. It was so special. The special bonding we had getting to be there that weekend was priceless.

Wed qotd- What is one or more of your favorite disney memories?

Mine include my ds also. When the pool lifeguards were leaving their stands for the night at ASMo, they said, "Good night, and may all your dreams come true." My ds came running over to me, stating that the man said that night ALL his dreams were gonna come true. How totally sweet and innocent.

His comments during the Spectromagic parade were unforgettable also.

My fav family memory was my Mothers Day trip in 2005. We did the brunch at Epcot and I LOVED it!!! All of the male characters were there, Fairy God Mother gave me pixie dust, Prince Charming kissed my dd's hand and made her blush, the food was great, the setting beautiful. WORTH EVERY PENNY!!!

Any Disney memory is priceless in my book.

Down 7 lbs as of this a.m. YAY :cool1::cool1:

Have a magical day!!:wizard:

Wed qotd- What is one or more of your favorite disney memories?

I have a many favourites, but here's 3.

On my first trip to WDW, with my boyfriend, I was getting annoyed with him when we were in the little room getting a picture with Mickey, because he was asking the CM to take a little bit of video after we got on picture taken, and the people behind us were very impatient and wanted their turn. The CM said no, and when he pleaded, she said yes. Then my boyfriend got down on one knee and proposed :lovestruc Mickey Mouse was the first one to congratulate me :goodvibes

Another great memory is on our first cruise my second DD was 21months old and loved characters. We were coming inside from Castaway Cay, and Captain Hook was in the Atrium, she ran over and gave him a big hug and then stood beside him grinning so we would take her picture.

Another great memory is on the last trip to DL, DD7 and DD4 are starting to get more independent, and wanting to ride together on rides instead of sitting one with me and one with DH. It was so cool to go on IASW sitting behind them in the boat, and listening to them be all excited and pointing things out to each other.

Wed qotd- What is one or more of your favorite disney memories?

One of my favorite disney memories was when I went to WDW as a travel agent on a familiarization trip. We watched the parade and they had these giant abstract puppet type things that were manned by the person in matching colors underneath (you could see the person), and as it passed me it reached down its giant arm and patted me on the head. It was so neat to interact like that! Also that night we got special viewing for illuminations over in the italy section. They closed off the italy pier for us and had a sit down dessert bar for us as we watched Illuminations! So fun!

Thanks to everyone who replied to my post yesterday about feeling heavy. I do feel better this morning. I had a 6" turkey sub for dinner with lots of veggies and just some mustard for condiments. It was fairly filling. This morning I had some watermelon for breakfast because I noticed that my ring was a bit more snug than usual, and I brought the other 6" of my sub for lunch.

We are having a beautiful week here in Western Washington with temps in the mid 80's so after work yesterday I got all of us in our swim suits and we went out in the back yard and played with water! It was a lot of fun on such a beautiful day!

Tonight I am supposed to walk a 3K with my WW group. My back is a bit stiff so hopefully it will losen up by then for a more enjoyable walk!

Have a great op day everyone....don't forget to drink that water!

Sarah

QOTD Fave Disney Memory
Two big ones come to mind first:

Our wedding trip to WDW - having 15 of our family and friends join us in "the World" was amazing. Taking my godsons on "It's A Small World" for the first time, hanging out at Jellyrolls with our bridal party, our rehearsal dinner at Chef Mickey's.

Taking DD1 on her first trip last October. She had a cold and was overwhelmed by everything, but seeing her interact with Mickey, Minnie & the Little Einsteins characters was amazing. Without being prompted, she gave Minnie - the first full body costume she'd seen - a kiss on the nose.

Great memories everyone.

Wed qotd- What is one or more of your favorite disney memories?

Some of you may have heard this one before but it is one of my favorites.

Ds2's first movie was Beauty and the Beast. He started to cry during the ballroom scene but I stood in the back and rocked him and he quieted down. His first Broadway show was B&B. He was only about 4 but it was fun to watchh him since he was watching the with such an intensity. When B&B was getting ready to close he asked if we could see it again. This time he has spent 3 years working crew in the school's musicals. It was so much fun as he was wondering how they did things and how things moved. we were talking so much pointing things out to each other that I thought my dh was going to get mad. One month later his school announced the B&B would be the show for his senior year. He was made co-stage manager and worked his tail off for several months. The show won many local awards including best scenery(which he helped build and paint) and best musical.

HAve a great day everyone.

It is great to read about everyone's disney memories. I have so many it is hard to think of my favorite. One of them was when my son was about 2 months old and we went to Mickey's toon town to see the characters. He cried and cried when chip and dale were there, but we went to see Daisy duck and he was in love. I have a picture of Daisy sitting on the ground rocking BJ. It is so sweet.

Another cool memory was when my daughter, my grandmother and I all celebrated our birthday at the character breakfast at MGM studios. They brought us all a huge cupcake, balloon, and a card signed by all the characters.

I can't wait to go back and make some more memories!
