BL Summer Challenge 2009

GREAT job!! And thanks for the encouragement (in your above post). Care to share your plan? WW? Counting calories?

Hi - I calorie count and use sparkpeople.com to track. I used to do WW's, but I really prefer calorie counting. I also try to follow the principles of the Eat Clean Diet by Tosca reno.

Tessiemez- Your pic of your baby is just the cutest~

Ok - my calories have been a little high tonight - but it was a planned high calorie day - Can't be any worse than the wedding last week. I know I ate more last week then I did today, lol.

I've got a shower tomorrow afternoon. I plan on eating breakfast and lunch here at home and then trying not to have anything unless there is fruit at the shower. At worst case scenario I'll limit myself to one goodie.

Since I eat clean, I tend to not eat a lot of the things I crave. I've been working to have a bit of a balance. This week I've had a bratwurst when the family was having them, had pizza the night before the shower had pizza and a little ice cream and dark 85% chocolate tonight. It obviously didn't really hurt me much this week, and I did much better this week having much higher calories than last week when I only lost .2 and my calories were on the low range and static all week. Strange how things work.

Sunday we are going to the Nascar race and we plan on bringing the grill and tailgaiting. This will be good for me since that means I can bring foods that will keep me on track and not have to rely on the junk sold there.

I hope everyone has a great OP weekend. Remember if you stray - stop right there and make the rest of the day and week good. Don't let a little fall derail you :)

Today was a planned higher cal day for me and we went out to eat dinner at Applebee's. But I'm still feeling guilty and gross and frustrated about it. I'm sad that I didn't actually enjoy the meal that much, considering how far it sent me over my calorie goal for the day. If I'm going to go off plan, I'd rather have a piece of pizza and a dessert.

Thanks for that! I was hoping for some motivation like that when I logged on tonight. ;)

Hello Companions in Losing!

I'm here to confess: I am the one with the real-life delays on the logo - it is underway now, though, so no worries. Father-in-Law visit requiring full-house excavation, end of school year mayhem and a technical difficulty that I won't even bore you with. I've sent a draft to Lisa and hopefully we'll have something very soon! Unless someone has beaten me to it...which is certainly possible at this point! I'm so sorry to hold up the show. :sad2:

Friday qotd - How often to you weigh yourself, and how does that help or hinder your ability to stay on track?

It varies. Sometimes I weigh in daily. Sometimes I weigh in only on weigh in day. I often weigh on Thursday and then again on Friday, which is probably insanity. In general, I don't feel like what I weigh this week or this day matters nearly as much as what I weigh 3 months from now. I know which way I'm going, and if the scale doesn't reflect it for a day or a week, well, it will show up eventually if I just keep heading in the same direction.

Welcome, Tessiemez, and congratulations on your cute baby! I was a babywearing mama as well, back in the day - my kids are now 10 and 6, but I still have quite a stash of slings and wraps. ;-) I see so much more BW than when my youngest, even, was a baby. So glad you could join us!

What did you have at Applebees? I like their portabello steak that's listed with a WW points logo. Steak is small, potato portion small, mushroom and sauce yummy and a half a plate of steamed brocolli! 7 WW points loosely translates to 350 calories, but you have to add in the brocolli calories, as that's 'free' on WW.

I stayed the same this week which is fine, it's been a rotten week. At least I'm actually journalling and counting points, even if I'm not staying within the range.

Wow! Nothing like weigh in and COW reporting day to make a busy thread.

Congratulations to everyone for sticking with things and making progress whether it is the scale, our new good habits or just heading in the right direction! :goodvibes

Thanks for asking about WW. It's going pretty well now that I am doing some more planning and really making use of my activity and weekly points. I think it really does help you to make better choices when you are going to eat something. That 5 point stuff I was eating didn't take me too far. :rotfl: I obviously have a long way to go but it seems like something I can stick with for the long run -- you know, like the rest of my life! :thumbsup2

That is so the way I'm feeling, the changes I'm making I want them to stick and be just a way of life for me...we are all making great changes!!

Hey everyone...I had the best dinner last night...Lipton chicken! So easy! I originally got the recipe from WW and thought you all might like in.

1 lb frozen chicken breast
1 can 99% ff cream of chicken soup
6 oz ff sour cream
1 packet Lipton Onion soup mix

Put everything in a crockpot and cook on low for 5 hours plus (yes, the chicken should be frozen). Mix if you can (if you want to leave it while you are at work, though, that is fine...I do it all the time.)

Serve over pasta...For WW this works out to about 6 points for 1/4 of what this makes plus however much pasta you choose to put it on! Love it! Hope you all have a great day!

WE CAN DO THIS! WE WILL DO THIS!

Sarah

Thanks for sharing, I'm always looking for a new recipe to try and love using the crockpot!! This may be on my menu for this week.

You are heading in the right direction with your counting and keeping up with your journal, you can do it!!

I had a pretty good day yesterday, stayed OP and was able to get some things done around the house that needed it. We have ds's baseball game this morning then back home for housekeeping while dh & ds work a while. I hope to get a few flowers planted later this evening.

I hope everyone has a great Saturday!!

happy Saturday! what a crazy week it has been at my house --and today is my youngest DD dance recital. she works so hard it's awesome to see her beam on the stage ;)

CONGRATS to our losers and maintainers this week! I did see small loss, but a loss none the less and i'll take it! it's been a couple weeks since a loss ----

Hey everyone.

Just had to share this. At Christmas time when I went to Vegas, I came to the realization that I had gained weight and my size 10 jeans were - well way too tight to wear to Vegas. I had bought the 10's out of desperation when I needed something to wear in September when DH came home from Afghanistan. Before that I was still squeezing into my size 8 jeans. So I was sad that I had to actually go buy 10's and 12's last fall and winter. I remember feeling so fat at Christmas time. No fun seeing family and friends and going to Christmas dinner and feeling yucky and fat.

Well...... yesterday to work (casual Friday's) I wore my 10's. And today I just ironed up another pair of 10's. Yep - I'm hanging up my 12's because they are just too baggy on me - YEAH! The 10's fit fine! Next stop - Size 8 - All aboard :) All those 6's and 4's in my closet better watch out. I'm hoping by August they fit :) Hmm - maybe I can dream of being in them by July?

Off to finish getting ready for the shower and put on my 10's :) Wish me eating success at the shower today!

No worries, Corinnak, we are glad that everyone is doing okay. The clippie looks great and should be making it's debut very soon!

The end of the school year is always a crazy time at our house, too. I will be glad when school is out next Friday. Going to Disneyland the following week might have something to do with that too. :cool1:

Nice job with the jeans, Melanie. :thumbsup2 I didn't put away the winter things that are too big now, I gave them to charity because I decided I am never, ever going to need that size again!

Have a great and OP day all!

Good morning! Looks like our clippie is a "go," just in time for June! Sorry no votes this time - I hope this looks OK to everyone.

Also, I just had to post to say - Way to go MelanieC! It's so nice to fit in clothes that haven't fit in so long! Good luck with that shower - parties can be a big challenge. Eat something healthy before you go and remember where you're headed this summer - Single digits coming right up for you!!!

OMG it's so cute :)

I love it. I am sad to see Jiminy go - I loved the Green Jiminy clippie. I love this one too - It's really cute!!!

Congrats on the 10's! I'm sure you can get to 8's by mid-July. That's only about 6 weeks away! I'll take your 12's and hopefully I can get into them by September! I'm a (tight) 16 now.

Are the weekly weights ever posted? I haven't come across a post that has the weigh in weights yet.

Are the weekly weights ever posted? I haven't come across a post that has the weigh in weights yet.

The weights are never posted but the results for our first weigh in were posted on Tuesday. Page 18, post 258. The results for the Friday weigh ins are usually posted on the following Tuesday.

A big, big thank you to corinnak for designing our Summer Challenge clippie for us! Be sure and grab one for yourself.

Back to working in the yard. The pine pollen floating around and the air is literally yellow green here . . . it is amazing!

What did you have at Applebees?
DH and I only chose Applebee's to get their 2 for $20 meal deal - appetizer and 2 entrees. We split the spinach-artichoke dip (I'm sure an insane amount of calories, I guessed using Ruby Tuesday's nutrition guide) and then had a cheeseburger (entree selection very limited, none of the WW ones). I only ate half the burger and drank water, so that's something. Before counting calories, I wouldn't have thought twice about the amount of cals in my splurge meal for the week. I think I'm more sad that I went that far over and didn't get dessert!

Melanie - congrats on getting into those 10s. I am on a similar quest to get back into the 6 pants and capris that my closet is filled with!

Corrinak - LOVE the new siggie icon - thanks for designing it!

For those of us a little more computer-challenged (I can just never remember this), how do we add the new clippie to our siggies?

Gracias!
Maria :upsidedow

For you, Maria. ;)
