BL Summer Challenge 2009

Hello everyone!!

I think I have missed several QOTD. I really need to catch up, but I am in the middle of working 3 nights in a row so it will probably be this weekend before I really catch up !!

I will do todays - If I could do anything I think I would just love to spend a day out by the pool (of course it would be clear water and not green like it is now:lmao:) with my family and not have to feel bad that something needs to get done. That is my problem with relaxing - I always feel guilty that something isnt getting done that needs to!!

Good Luck everyone for weight in tomorrow :cheer2::cheer2:- don't think I lost as much this week, but my calories in has been a little higher - that's ok though!! I know it will take a while to get off the weight - But I finally weigh less now than I did when I gave birth to my youngest child - 11 years ago:yay: That baby fat just wouldn't go away!!

Jennifer
Nice job with losing the baby weight. My youngest is also 11 y/o and I have lost the baby weight in the last year or so also!..............P

Today's QOTD is:

If all of your responsibilities were taken care of for 72 hours, what hobby or sport or activity (other than traveling) would you indulge in during that time?

HMMMM... I think a back massage/mani/pedicure/lay by the pool/sleep/shop. Any of those would work. :thumbsup2

Today's QOTD is:

If all of your responsibilities were taken care of for 72 hours, what hobby or sport or activity (other than traveling) would you indulge in during that time?

I'd do some cross-stitch while watching movies, read books soaking in a long bubble bath, play board games with DH, and read books with my kids.

What is missing is the mental strategy, which has always tripped me up. I'm a binge eater when it comes to stress, like after a stressful day with the kids. If anyone has any advice on how to handle this part, I would be so happy to hear it.

Anyway, I look forward to losing a LOT of weight with all of you!

:cool1:

One more thing: my husband has told me time and again if I lose this weight i can have ANYTHING I want! So, that in itself should be enough motivation, no? Especially since I want to take yet another trip to WDW for MNSSHP in October and since we JUST got back from DLR, there is no way he'd let me do this.... UNLESS I show him I am finally serious and drop a good chunk of the weight.

I've tried lots of different things to motivate myself and get past the urge to eat. I've taped a note to the front of the fridge saying "My girls deserve a happy healthy MOM!" and one on the bathroom mirror saying "Remember you're worth it" Those helped for a while.

In January I made a mental change. I never tell myself I can't have anything, because when I tell myself that, then I start to make up reasons why I can. In most things, I'm trained to not accept I can't and find out how I can. So now for food, whenever I'm thinking "I want" something. I tell myself "I want to lose weight". And most of the time, I decide I want to lose the weight more than I want the chips or chocolate. :goodvibes

Hi ...

Is it too late to join? I joined a weight loss group on the boards last year but couldn't participate because I got pregnant ... but now I'm very ready to get on the weight loss bandwagon!

I lost 25 pounds during my pregnancy, which everyone says is great, but it wasn't an overly healthy situation--I'd like to lose my weight in a healthy way and not because of a medical situation. Does that make sense, or just sound stupid?

So, my goal is to lose 30 pounds by the end of September. I know that may be unrealistic, but I'd like to get as close to that as I can. My plan is to stick to a 1300-calorie-a-day diet and try to get in at least 30 minutes of aerobic exercise a day (which can be hard with this little one to care for!

I hope to break my idle-snacking habit, which has been my downfall ... I've been known to think back over the day and not remember a lot of what I snacked on!

Looking forward to watching the pounds melt!

Good Morning everyone. It is very dark and rainy here this morning in jersey. I just hope it clears up in time for tthe proms that are going on tonight. Ds is taking a friend from his old high school to her senior prom. I can't wait to see what he looks like in his tux. He was excited last night after he picked it up. He told me it was more fitted than the last couple that he has gotten. I'm glad. He is almost 6 ft and maybe 150 pounds soaking wet.

tessiemez Welcome. Just pm your starting weight to luvballo sometime today.

I am taking today off from weighing in. It is my birthday and if I gained I would be very unhappy. I know if had lost I would be very happy but why take that chance today. I will weigh in again next week. But I am still in the game.

Dh gave me a a couple of travel books, one on Va (we plan to go to WIlliamsburg in Nov) and on on DW for adults. He also got me a Lenox Tinkerbell sitting on a spool of thread (since I sew). She is absolutely beautiful. HE also wants me to get myself a new laptop (mine died last summer)

Today's QOTD is:

If all of your responsibilities were taken care of for 72 hours, what hobby or sport or activity (other than traveling) would you indulge in during that time?

I would read, knit or quilt and do some yoga and some walking.

Have a great day everyone. Good luck on your weigh ins.

Hey W.I.S.H. Gang. I have some good news to share. I lost 4 pounds this week . I did get A chance to walk durring lunch. and after work. I have began to cut back on eating large portions of food at dinner. It looks like i am back on track again for a slimmer summer:thumbsup2

I love that idea. You're right... most of the time I want to lose the weight more than I "want" that food. I just have to keep reminding myself of that!

Never too late to join us. Cute baby in the signature!!

Anyhow, 30 pounds by September is very do-able, if you are diligent. I lost about 35 pounds last year from Jan 2 through mid-April. I didn't not cheat, not even once, I counted every point (or calorie) and exercised at least three times a week. I did have a weight-loss slowdown in February because I wasn't eating enough, so be careful of that.

I'm sure that it will be difficult with a new baby in the house. Try to fit in 5 minutes of exercise here and there. It still counts, even if you are not doing 30 minutes in a row. Run the stairs in your house for 5 minutes right after you put the baby in for a nap. Do 100 jumping jacks while waiting for a bottle to heat up. Put that cute baby in a stroller and go for a power walk in the morning. You can do it! Thanks for joining us on our journey.

Happy Birthday!! I don't blame you for skipping the scale today! Sounds like DH picked some nice gifts. Enjoy your day!

Right back on track, I see! Way to go!

Good morning to all! I did not have a great day on the scale, but Aunt Flo is in the house and I did over-indulge a bit last weekend. I am up .6 lb. Not great, but not too scary. I am vowing, right now, that it will be gone plus a full pound at this time next week. Yup, you heard it here, I am committing to lose AT LEAST 1.6 lb for next week. Stay tuned to see if I do it.

Everyone needs to remember to PM LuvBaloo with their weight this morning and PM donac with your COW points. You should have a new coach starting today (I can't remember who). Coaching this week has been great fun........P

:bday: Dona!

I hope it is a great one. I agree about not weighing on that day...why chance a less than perfect day? ;)

I'll be weighing later after I send the fellas to work and school and do some TM time. I am having a mental health day. I know it's frowned upon, but trust me, it is clearly needed. I had a surly attitude yesterday, and I need to get back in touch with me and away from the crazy at work. Plus, I really need a jumpstart on working out and eating right. This week has not been pretty, and honestly I'm expecting to gain lbs not ounces. It's like I just took a week off from everything.

Anyway, best of luck today to everyone with the weigh-in! I hope you have all been much more diligent than I (or even paying attention :rotfl2:), and you have fabulous results!

Maria :upsidedow

Good morning, Losers!! Hope everyone has a good weighin, and if you aren't happy with the number, don't despair, change something up this week, and next week will be better. I am going to be the coach this week, and hope to be able to check in a couple times a day. Thanks Pjlla for the awesome coaching last week.
Yesterdays qotd- That would be a dream 72 hrs with no responsibilities. I would take a book and sit on the beach for a while, maybe do some scrapbooking, and go for a bike ride.

Whoo hoo!!:cool1: Awesome weight loss. So nice to see you can get right back on and lose that weight. Nice job.

I am down .4 this week, and thrilled, after an indulgent weekend. It does make me think, if I had made a few better choices, I really wouldn't have been depriving myself, and I could have seen a bigger loss. This week ahead, I have no parties or camping to contend with, and the stress of my mom being in the hosp, I've been actually handling that pretty well, without food.

Friday qotd - How often to you weigh yourself, and how does that help or hinder your ability to stay on track?
I have a love / hate relationship with my scale, and i weigh myself every morning before I get dressed. My weight fluctuates daily by 2-3 pounds, and sometimes when I see a big loss one day, the bad person in my head will say oh, go ahead and have that cookie/cake/icecream, your weight is down today, and on the other hand, if I've been really on track, but the scale is up, I might say, WTH and go off as well. I know the scale fluctuates, and it's not a great idea to weigh daily, but on the other hand, it does help me when I'm really sliding down the wrong path, to get back on track too.

Good luck with all your weighins today. Have a great day.

Thanks P for coaching, and I love your attitude for this week. You will see that weight gone. You can do it!!:cool1:

Ah, a mental health day sounds lovely. Enjoy your day, guilt free, and you'll be so much better when you go back to work. Good luck on the scale.

Good morning, losers!

A big thank you to pjlla for coaching last week and a big welcome to mikamah for coaching this week -- you guys are the best!

party::bday:party: to donac! I hope that you have a wonderful day. Sounds like your DH is a thoughtful guy and loves you very much.

And we appreciate you very much for being our COW keeper. Like we appreciate LuvBaloo for being our weightkeeper. :goodvibes

Welcome to tessiemez! That is one cute baby you have there. :cutie: Please PM your starting weight to LuvBaloo, if you haven't already. There is a sticky at the top of the WISH boards and a lot of info in post 12. You will want to read about the COW (challenge of the week) that is starting today.

A little update on our clippie. The person who volunteered to do it has been hung up with some real life issues so if anyone would like to give it a try, just PM me. Thanks!

Oh, Kathy, I can so totally relate to this statement. I, too, weigh myself every morning first thing after I get up. My weight fluctuates from day to day, too, so I don't get too excited about any number until it has stayed at least two days.

I lost 1.5 pounds this week and I am happy with that. That's two weeks in a row for a loss and that is important to me after maintaining for weeks and weeks during the last challenges.

On Tuesday I was down three but part must have been water from working outside and some came back. Or its my body's revenge as I work out this WW system. I'm joining you on the better choices and not depriving myself wagon! I really need this because on Wednesday I was standing in the pantry eating Cheerios out of the box kind of hungry and it was not a pretty thing! :scared1:

Today is the big menu planning and shopping day. I see lots of veggies and fruits in my future.

Have a great day losers!

Friday qotd - How often to you weigh yourself, and how does that help or hinder your ability to stay on track?

I usually only weigh myself one day a week, on Friday mornings. That said, I will occasionally take a sneak peek... usually after an overindulgent weekend or when I think things are going really well. But like mikamah said, if I see a great number, sometimes I use it as an excuse to spurge... and if the number isn't great, I get upset and sometimes my mood can affect my eating. It is such a MENTAL GAME!!! So I really try to stick with once a week. It still keeps me accountable, but I don't get caught up in a daily psychological swing.

I will admit that I hopped on the scale a few times this morning, hoping that the +.6 might disappear, but no such luck. It is here to stay... at least for now. But it will be gone next week along with its brother, 1.0!........P

I weigh myself every morning. Sometimes I even weigh before bed and try to guess what number I'll get in the morning! It's been fun to weigh because I've lost 52 pounds! I know about the fluctuations, so I don't let it bother me if the scale doesn't cooperate for a little while! I love the scale these days!

Friday qotd - How often to you weigh yourself, and how does that help or hinder your ability to stay on track?

I am supposed to weigh myself once a week on Wednesday morning, however, I've been jumping on the scale so often that last night I hid it deep inside my closet and vowed to not get back on it until Wednesday morning! I would like to be surprised by my weight loss. I want to work hard to see a difference and if I jump on the scale morning and evening (which is what I've been doing) and notice a drop I won't work as hard.

Okay, I'm posting from my phone and I accidentally posted twice. I can't figure out how to delete the extra post so I'm modifying it! Please forgive me. This is tough to do from my phone!

Good luck on today's weigh-in everybody!

Dow 2.5 this week! YEAH!

QOTD

I also weigh each morning. I've learned to play my mental game...if it doesn't look good I know I have to be 100% on plan. If it does look good...I don't want to blow it for weigh in day.

Here's a water retention helplful hint.....WATERMELON. This week my rings were just a-spinning on my fingers. Last evening I suddenly noticed they were tight and leaving marks on my fingers. I realized I had had a frozen Healthy Choice for lunch and figured it was probably sodium packed. So last night before bed I had a serving of watermelon, as I'd remembered my sister told me her homeopath had recommended that. Apparently it worked! :)

.

I have a question--
I pm'd my actual weight this morning--- is that correct//-- or should we pm the actual weight loss for week???

Today's QOTD is:

What is one healthy change that you made that you thought would be SO HARD, but is now part of your regular routine??

Giving up sweet tea and soda's several years back. I really enjoy my water now and have no desire for the sweet drinks anymore. Every now and then I will have a glass of unsweet tea but not very often.

Today's QOTD is:

If all of your responsibilities were taken care of for 72 hours, what hobby or sport or activity (other than traveling) would you indulge in during that time?

Oh what a question...stamping, scrapbooking, cross stitching, crocheting, reading more time for the computer...my list could go on and on.;)

Happy Birthday!!! Enjoy your day, sounds like you've gotten some great gifts so far, go for it on the new laptop too!!

Friday qotd - How often to you weigh yourself, and how does that help or hinder your ability to stay on track?

I weigh each morning before I shower, it helps keep me on track and like a few others have mentioned, if I'm up some, I know I need to really work the plan and if I'm down it helps remind me to continue with what I'm doing because I don't want to be up the next day. I don't let it rule me but I like to keep tabs on how I'm doing.

Good morning, losers!

A big thank you to pjlla for coaching last week and a big welcome to mikamah for coaching this week -- you guys are the best!

Thanks for the great coaching last week pjlla and looking forward to having you coach this week mikamah.

I stayed the same this week for WI but am just thankful that there wasn't a gain. I went a little off plan last night but am back on this morning. I need to get a few things done around the house before heading out to run some errands. Hope to get back home and get some stitching done today.

Have a great day everyone!!
