Disneyland Hotel - Which Tower should I request

I am planning on staying at the Disneyland Hotel with my grandson, his wife and my great-grandson during a Christmas Holiday trip. I will just be getting a standard room (Costs!). For those who have experienced staying in different towers, which did you prefer? Why? Thanks for your feedback.

My favorite is Adventure because it's closer to the security entrance. Fantasy can be nice, too, because it has the lobby and the shops right there.

Personally I always preferred Fantasy. The one time I stayed in Adventure it was the worst room I ever had at DLR. But, I think it was probably an anomaly as I know many people love Adventure.

I have stayed in all three towers. Each has its own advantages.

Fantasy is great if you like a busier feel with characters. I like walking into the lobby there, which is the main lobby for the entire Disneyland Hotel, because it just feels more Disney. Goofy’s Kitchen is in that area so characters are frequently around. It’s also the most convenient for check-in and checkout. And the gift stores are also in that tower.

Adventure is nice because it is right in between the two entrances on the DL hotel side of DTD so it can be good for getting into and out of the parks. However, to me one of the biggest perks of that tower is that it is the only one that you’re guaranteed not to get a parking lot view on a standard room. One side looks towards the pool and the other side looks towards downtown Disney. Not all of the rooms have views because if you are a lower floor, your view will be blocked by trees. But you will not be looking at a parking lot. The lobby is not nearly as nice as Fantasy, but it is quiet.

Frontier is closest to Trader Sam’s and the little outdoor seating area nearby. The lobby is nicer than Adventure but not as nice as Fantasy. It also has a good view of the waterslide area if you happen to get a pool view. If you don’t, however, you could be looking at a parking lot.

My understanding (and I am no expert regarding DLH) is that if you have a standard view room, then your choices are Frontier Tower and Fantasy Tower. I believe the newer DVC tower has specific, distinct room assignments and types that are different than DLH.

Adventure tower only has views of DTD or the pool area is my understanding. I don't know which Fantasy or Frontier tower is better or worse, because I've only stayed at Adventure tower.

I’ve been given a room in the Adventure Tower several times when booking a standard. The rooms on the lower floors are considered standard because the views are blocked by trees. However, you can’t always get a standard view room at the Adventure Tower because there are a pretty limited number of them. On our last trip, they told us we’d have to upgrade if we wanted Adventure Tower because there was nothing left on the lower floors. There are many more standards in the other two towers because of the parking lot views.

Good information. I will probably request Fantasy Tower and hope they can do that. I like the possibility of seeing characters there. I don't mind a parking lot view as my hotel budget is maxed with just a standard. Thanks for your input.

Be sure you request it early. Don’t wait until you arrive and don’t wait until the day you’re supposed to arrive to call and ask. Last time I checked, rooms are assigned the evening before. You can sometimes get your room changed once you arrive, but it’s better to request it before you get there. It won’t hurt to ask for a room on a low floor on the pool side since those are standard views.

Honest advice? Don't bother requesting. They almost never honor it, and it's so insignificant at the Disneyland Hotel that it's not even a brief moment of frustration when you find out you didn't get what you requested. All three towers are good, all are close. I have seen people nearly in tears in the lobby because "they have been staying their 20 years and always get the Fantasy tower," etc. It's just not that big of a deal for this particular property. I personally don't even think they look at the requests anymore given my experience of trying over multiple visits. So I find I am happier just having a surprise and enjoying whichever tower I get.
