Like her, love her or not, you'd have to say that Oprah Winfrey is a force to reckon with in this country. She's fought the battle of the bulge (and finally *won*). Her website is full of lots of self-help ideas, so if you'd like to try a makeover of your image (to go along with that MAHvelous body you're reclaiming!) this is the place.

Home page of the Oprah Winfrey show

Food section - recipes, nutrition advice

Home and Garden Division - How to do a room makeover, etc. You can also access the Food are from here

All - I hope that when you check out the three different websites I have posted above?...you might just be inspired to live a better, healthier life.

agnes!

:teeth: BE A LOSER :teeth:

sorry I haven't checked in. My inlaws are visiting and I've been at wdw this week.

http://www.dwlz.com/

This is an excellent website. It contains point values for restaurant foods and regular food, recipes, weekly menus and much much more. Check it out!

http://recipes.lightandtasty.com/eRMS/NutriSearch.aspx?pmcode=LNTSite

I like this site because you can search for recipes based on nutriitonal information, like low-fat, high-protein, etc.

http://allrecipes.com/Recipes/Healthy-Living/Main.aspx

Allrecipes has a great healthy living section and I like that their recipes have the nutrition information with them.

www.sshe.com

This one may seem odd, but we have used this program in the past and I lost 15 lbs in about 6 weeks. I just can't afford to keep up with it, but I can look at their menus and use them for ideas. Sometimes it is so hard to not get into a rut when you're trying to eat healthy and their ideas help me.

sorry i was a bit late checkin in.. I am only down 1 lb , I seem to be slowin down.. bummer.. as for a good website.. I get all my stuff from sparkpeople.com.. it is helpful to me.. Hope I do much better next week..

Do you have a Costco near you? They have a frozen berry mix that is reasonable, not nearly as good as fresh but OK to make smoothies with.

No Costco in this area, but the grocery store that I am working at has the frozen berries. I just always thought they would be mushy.

I like www.sparkpeople.com, there is a DIS team on there.

OH yeah, I almost forgot. I went for my "official" weigh in today (I do 2 a week, 1 at home for this challenge and my weigh watchers weigh in)

I am 2 ounces away from 20 pounds!

I've been thinking of you and your quest to quit smoking. How is it going? I know you have to power to conquer this addiction. Hang in there and don't give up. You can do it!!!

Tomorrow will be 1 week down!!! I'm doing pretty good, but keep haing crazy dreams about people smoking around me. It was much easier giving up chocolate. :)

My favorite websites for cooking healthier are:

Weightwatchers.com

This one is obvious. I have been on Weight Watchers for many years and I have gotten so many good recipes off of here.

Runnersworld.com

This isn't just for cooking healthy. I use it for running support and they have good articles on food runners should eat and some recipes.

Hungrygirl.com

If you aren't subscribed to their emails, I HIGHLY recommend it. They have such great ideas!

I have more good ones I will post when I get home and get to my bookmarks.

We are losing and that is good. Wow that did not come out like I wanted. I meant to say we are losing weight and that is good. Our cumulative total to date is 187.8 pounds. That is impressive. We are making a difference.

I know if we all work hard we can have our week at #1. How are you doing with the weekly team challenge? This one is a little more difficult. With lots of participation I know we can win this one. Just try your best, remember EVERY POINT COUNTS!

Thank you to my faithful team members that reported their weight for the week.

Thanks for the listings of websites. Rack up those points gang.

Thanks to simpilotswife (Kimberly) for answering Monday's question of the day today. Sometimes I wonder if I should even do a question of the day. Does anyone really care? Does anyone really read what I say? I do tend to ramble on a lot. I know we are all really busy and want to spend our leisure time in ways that we enjoy. I just want everyone to enjoy reading and posting to this thread. We are the Red Team and we need to stick together. Our percentages may be small, but we are trying to make positive changes to our lives and that is what this challenge is all about.

Have a healthy day!

Red Team Rocks!!!

At work and only have a sec but I like your questions of the day...:goodvibes

I like your questions of the day, I just sometimes forget the question by the time I read all the posts in the thread.

Congrats everyone on the week. That is an awesome total thus far. We are doing great!

Robin

This is me too!

Today's question, or was it yesterday's? Anyway, all of our WDW vacations have been great. We enjoyed our wedding/honeymoon trip SO much that WDW is DH's fave vacation place. It's my favorite place to take the kids. Happy kids make a relaxing vacation and, boy are they happy at Mickey's place!:wizard:

For non-WDW vacations, DH and I took a trip to Destin, FL and stayed at the Sandestin (before the kids) and that was a FABULOUS trip. We were living in Atlanta at the time and owned a convertible (later had to trade that in on a minvan when DD came along:lmao: ) so we drove through Alabama with the top down and laid around on the beach, went shopping, visited the spa and just relaxed. Destin is currently my dream retirement destination. I would love to own one of those condo's on the beach and fall asleep every night to the sound of the ocean (I know it's really the Gulf) after walking along those white sand beaches.
:cloud9:

Another website (that is actually my employer for another 2 weeks)

is www.wegmans.com

when you search for a recipe on there you can gear the search towards your own dietary needs. Each recipe that lists will give a little simbol that will tell you if it is fat free, heart healthy, gluton free, lactose free, etc.

The only thing is a lot of the recipes will call for Wegmans brand products, but I'm sure you can find substitutions for those.
