BL 3 -- Red Team week 2

I love water-but have a really hard time drinking it at work. I need to make this my goal this week. I have been exercising on my elliptical trainer since Sunday so maybe that will start to make a difference. I find I am a 'grazer' ya know, your making dinner and pick while you do it? That's me. I have also decided that after everyone has their dinner- I will put all the leftovers away before I eat. That way I can't pick after I eat. I really think this "mindless" munching is really getting me.

I know what you mean about work. I can actually drink more water when I'm at work for some reason, but because I am drinking more water at work I have to go to the bathroom more. Working in a store that doesn't go over so big with the bosses sometimes! I got in close to 64 ounces yesterday. I think I did really good because I was driving around and was thirsty. Normally that would have meant a trip to the drive thru for a coke or pepsi..yesterday it was a stop at the convenience store for bottled water. I'll try to increase it even more today.

Magical Mom - (???),

In my opinion as long as it doesn't contain a lot of chemicals or the dreaded high fructose corn syrup it can count as water.

BTW where are you in DE? I am near Salisbury, MD just closer to Ocean City along Rt 50. Hasn't the weather been heavenly the past two days?

Have a healthy day.

The Propel seems to have a good bit of chemicals. I think I'll lay off of that for a while. :)

I'm originally from MD, I've lived in Kent, Queen Annes & AA county. Now we live in Dover. I've been hoping to head your way soon to visit the Country House. I've never been there but I've ordered from their catalog & just love their products. :)

Hope you have a healthy day too!

I have lived in and around Salisbury for over 25 years and have never been to the Country House. Most people really love it. Another great country place I've heard about is The Barn in Delmar, MD off RT 13. Sunfest is in OC next weekend and they usually have crafts vendors. It might be time to make that visit.

How's it going Red Team? I exercised and watered yesterday. That's all I care to admit to at this time.

Are you drinking your water? Did you see Nancy's comment that WW says any decaf beverage with no bubbles can count as water. MMMM something with a little flavor would be nice.

Red Team Question of the Day

It's time to gear up for the weekend. Do weekends pose any challenge to your healthy lifestyle? Do you have a different gameplan on weekends?

Me first - Weekends can be a challenge for me. DH and I usually go out to dinner sometime during the weekend and often it can be difficult to find something healthy on the menu. Usually Sunday morning I bake Pillsbury cinnamon rolls that you pop out of the can for breakfast. That does not happen when I am in 'healthy mode' but I really miss them. I can overcome these challenges and be successful this weekend because the Red Team needs me to do my part this week. We will be the Biggest Losers this week.

Check in Red Team, I'd like to hear from you. We are hear to help and encourage each other. Let's get united, and to do that we need to know everyone on the team, like you. So post something to let us know how your journey is going.

Have a healthy day.

Red Team Rocks!!!

The hardest for me is eating out of the house. I have to watch my carbs and make sure I get protein. This weekend we are attending Saturday morning services, after services there is a "luncheon", this will be my toughest.

Disney is easy, the kids meals are very nutrtitous.

Although I am not fasting for Yom Kippur (my doctor didn't want me to fast) , my husband wants to go to the break the fast which will be loaded wth food.

Weekends are my easiest of the week because I have my long run for the week on Saturdays and I weigh in on Sunday mornings at Weight Watchers. So, for some reason, that is my motivation to stay on track for the weekend. Tomorrow is my first run greater than 5 miles. We have been doing 5 miles every Saturday all summer and now our mileage increases every weekend.

The only reason that it might be harder is because we tend to bring in food. Also it's nice to relax with a beer or two. Overall though it really isn't any more difficult for me than any other time.

I'll have to check that store out too! :thumbsup2

Weekends are easier for me diet wise. I work 12 hours Sat & Sun & usually live off of Lean Cuisines. I don't get my usual exercise in but I tend to stay pretty busy at work.

If I could just get my weight to budge one pound I would be so excited. I can't believe the scale hasn't moved in a month. The first 20 lbs just flew off with ease. :confused3

We are having a bit of a family crisis here this weekend. My dh's grandmother (90) has been going down hill but yesterday the hospital called my fil to come up. Then he summoned the rest of us (very unlike him) so we were all there. They ended up putting in a pacemaker and that went well- but she is 90 and it's still up in the air. I'm going to try really hard to not eat a lot of crap at the hospital cafeteria- and drink plenty of water.

Mermaid02, hope things go well. Most hospitals have been putting in healthier items. Our thoughts are with DHs grandmother.

I saw a commercial yesterday that sparked my interest. Progresso now has a ZERO POINTS soup. Endorsed by WW. Can't wait to taste, reminder there are two servings in a can. Here is the link for everyone:

It is difficult again this week for me. I am now in day 14 of this cold (I really think I have had two colds in this period though). DFIL has been visiting as well.

The weekends are easy for me. I can control myself more somehow :confused3

Happy Saturday Team! I am still having "motivational" issues ... but I've tried to make at least one choice per day where normally I would have eaten something, and chose to either eat nothing or something much healthier instead. My water is always an issue on weekends, although I've been finding that if I put it in a Disney refillable mug like I do at work, it's easier to remember to drink. :thumbsup2 For the most part, I get anywhere from 64oz to 100 oz of water in per day. I had promised to kick start my power walking this week, but unfortunately life has gotten in the way, and when I look at the coming week's schedule, doesn't look much better. But I WILL get it together ... I need to do it for me, but more importantly, I need to do it for this TEAM

As a team, we moved Downwards this week ... that's AWESOME! Keep up the great work. TOM hits this week, although I was having "issues" last week too ... so not sure how well the scale will move even WHEN I get moving. :confused3

well tomorrow is a big day for me. i'll be doing the jimmy fund walk in boston. 13 miles of walking! i have to stay strong and not eat everything they put out along the way. i'm debating whether or not to bring a nalgene bottle with me so i can keep hydrated and feel full! :cheer2:

How about substituting a healthier treat breakfast? What about a nice quiche with egg whites (I usually use one yolk for the color), some nice chopped asparagus, chopped tomato, some crab meat (LOVE those new pouches they have in the tuna aisle), and some lowfat cheese. Add a little powdered mustard for color and flavor. I don't use crust for my quiche, just bake it in a glass pie plate.

Another version I like uses chopped turkey and chopped spinachand tomatoes. The restaurant where I used to get this serves it with hollandaise sauce and it is SO yummy. I found this alternative to hollandaise that's lowfat: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Lemon-and-Mustard-Dipping-Sauce-for-Artichokes/Detail.aspx

Here's a basic crustless quiche recipe to give you an idea on cooking times, etc. http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Crustless-Spinach-Quiche/Detail.aspx

Weekends are hard for me too. We usually eat out and DH tends to bring home treats which are hard for me to resist. I did good on my ater yesterday, filled the water bottle twice, had a bottled water while running errands and I drank iced tea with dinner, so I got in the 64 oz.

I have great motivation now - the weather has turned cool and my capris are a little tight. It won't be shorts weather much longer and I need to lose a few pounds quickly or I won't have anything to wear!

Good luck on your 'half marathon'! I don't remember what diet plan you are doing, but you will need to 'carb up' a bit before and after...but you probably already know that.

Weekends are generally easier for me, even though I tend to eat out (well, I eat out a lot anyway). Dinnertime after work (that drive home) is what is my biggest hurdle. I'm tired, fried, hungry and it's so easy to talk myself into quick comfort food. Today I made myself a cheese omlette for late breakfast, and now (it's about 3pm), I'll head out for my largest meal of the day (roasted chicken, a bite of ham, veggies and sugar free jello). I'll just have some fruit later this evening IF I get a rumbly tummy after my evening swim.

....I'm a little behind on the water today....better go remedy that right now!

Hi Everyone! Weekends are usually the toughest for me b/c I don't have a set routine. During the week, I'm good about eating my lean cuisines for dinner and working out. But, on weekends, I usually end up going out to eat, etc. But, on Friday night I actually passed up going over to my friend's house b/c I knew there would be lots of stuff to eat and drink and I didn't have many points left. Sure, I missed out, but the scale also went down on Saturday morning - so I felt good! So far this week I've lost 2 pounds, so I'm pretty excited!!!

Mermaid02-I hope you were able to make good choices at the hospital!

Iggbees-Good luck on your walk today! I hope it goes well!

Have a great rest of the weekend!!

I know this sounds weird, but try INCREASING the amount of food you eat, even if just by a small amount. You need to jumpstart the whole process. When I stalled at WW my first time around (I had dropped 45 pounds and then just kept going up a pound, down a pound for 2 months) this is what they told me to do. I was always eating my points but not the flex points they let you have so they told me to use the extra points and increase my water by half and that should kick it in again. It worked! I didn't lose that week, but the next week I did! So if you are drinking 40 ounces of water, increase to 60, etc.

I saw that about the soups, I am looking forward to trying them. I love soups but I don't want to eat the points up with one little bowl.

How did it go? 13 miles is a lot of walking!!!!

I was looking through my recipes for something good to make for dessert. I don't do artificial sweeteners, so I was looking back to my WW ones. I thought I would share. My Mom gave me this one.

1 Can Pumpkin Puree (One Pie for me, or you can use Libbys)
1/4 Cup Water
2 Teaspoons Vanilla
1 Box of Chocolate Cake Mix (it can be the cheap kind, I buy whatever is on sale)

Preheat over to 350 degrees.

Spray Cookie sheet with Pam and then wipe with a paper towel.

Beat first three ingredients until fluffy (Puree, Water, Vanilla)

Add cake mix, beat well, mixture will be thick

1 Tablespoon of the dough is one cookie.

Bake for 20 minutes

1 Tablespoon of Dough = 1 Cookie = 1 WW Point

(Disclosure - I haven't done the points calculation in a while so you might want to double check).

hi everyone! thanks for the well wishes! it was really tough and the last 2 miles were the worst, but we made it. for the most part i was pretty good about what i ate and i drank a lot, so i think i did ok. we'll see tomorrow though. my legs are killing me though and i'm exhausted, since we woke up at 6:30 am.
