I'm still here......
Didn't get a chance to WI this week and not making WW today.
First the good news..... Tower of Terror was AWESOME!!!!! It had glitches as it was a 1st time, but all in all good.
DD actually jogged most of the way, so I didn't see her until the end. I FINALLY got to meet Cam (KeenerCam)!!! And many others who I'm sure I'll never remember all their names - I do remember HockeyChic, WindWalker, & of course TigerLily, Connie from TX, & too many more to remember!
I started off with Cam & her group as they were walking due to her back problem. I ended up ahead & walking some w/ Dave & then HockeyChic & her DH. I was not last & I finished which was all I wanted to do. DD finished about 30 min ahead of me, but then she didn't stop to take pictures at least 1x every mile!! I talked on the phone part of it w/ my DSIS who couldn't figure out why 45 min into it we weren't done(DUH!) , & then with DD who wondered where I was when she passed mile 6 (I was passing 5). I can honestly say I did NOT exert myself at all. Didn't even feel like my heart rate was really up. Everyone else hated the humidity, but I was LOVING it!!!!
Dd's running shoes are MESH which we never thought about. Good for the dry desert, not so good for rainy Orlando. Her feet were soaked most of the 8+ miles. When I crossed the finish she was waiting, gave me her stuff & said she thought her feet were bleeding. Fortunately it was just 1 blister & the rest was the wet socks. Went to the med tent for ice for her knee & a bandaid & she was good to go ride the ToT(NOT ME!!!) Her feet were swollen & GROSS from the water & VERY SORE!!!!!
From Thursday night to when we got home on Monday night I managed to get a whopping 21 hours sleep in 4 nights. I'm still totally exhausted, so I will LOVE this weeks sleep challenge. THAT I can handle!!
Monday night when we landed I called DS18 to see if he wanted me to pick him up something for dinner. No, as he was down on campus working on a group project & said he would be home soon. 3 hours later still hadn't heard from him. Called him again & no answer. about 15 min later he called me very shaken. He had been driving his cycle on the hwy and the delivery type truck in the lane next to him hit a wooden pallet and threw it into his lane in front of him. No where to go at 65 in heavy traffic. He became airborne - OVER the height of the cars. A piece of the wood hit his throttle hand. When the bike came down it was unsteady, but fortunately, he had bought a $500 steering dampener for loose/out of control steering and when the wheels hit the pavement, it took over & he did not crash. If he had, he & the bike would have both been run over. The only thing we could see wrong with the bike was a small area of the rim was bent - looked like the end of a 2x4 hit it. He stopped in a parking lot, checked it out & rode home after calling me. So, I took him to school on Tues & yesterday morning we took the bike to the shop to be checked. Told the wonderful British older man who runs it & he was amazed we weren't planning a funeral. Then, he called & told me both front & rear rims & tires are bent from the impact, and that there was "no reason on this earth" that both tires did not blow on impact & the bike roll. There are even splinters imbeded in one of the tires. Unfortunately, the damage was over $2000 so we had to call his Ins. co & file a claim - even his $1000 deductible is cheaper, but he is safe and that is all that matters.
So, is it any wonder, with DD being sick, me sick, the 2 trips to FL this month & then DS18's problem that I forgot to WI?? Oh well. Hopefully life will calm down a bit now, but I'll have to play chauffer to both DD and DS18 for a while til the bike is fixed. But I'll gladly do it at this point!
Food was OK in FL - had panera bagels each morning which is not great, but we don't have a panera. Desperately wanted ice cream at 2 a.m. after ToT, but McDonalds had none. Ended up eating a hamburger - probably my 1st in YEARS. ICKY!!!!! Spent way too much money at the UnderArmour outlet - but some is for Christmas.
Went to Halloween Horror Nights at Universal (DBil got us free tickets) n Sunday Night. I would not go back. It was nothing but a drunken mess. Houses weren't scary, just really gross. Waited over an hour to ride the Mummy & Men in Black(and DD's gun didn't work). DSis & her DD came & we were walking down by Jaws & someone threw a beer on them. Then later we got SPIT on!! (just for fun you know!) They left about 11 & we left just after 12 a.m.
My big 'oops' of the trip was leaving the hotel on I-Drive for the airport in pouring rain, sitting forever in traffic & getting to the rental return & realizing I had forgotten to stop for gas!!! $7.99/gallon there I was NOT going to pay. So off we went to way S of the airport to fill the tank as the nearby roads had accidents.
After ToT &
HHN, DD was barely walking her feet were so sore, so she hobbled into the airport for an hour line at security. Barely made it to our gate & neither of us had eaten all day. I RAN to the nearest food place - fortunately 1 gate down & bought 2 chef salads, 2 pretzels w/ cheese, her a brownie sundae (it was Ben & Jerry's) & I had a scoop of Pumpkin cheesecake - yummy & the worst thing I had all weekend. Wolfed down the ice cream during boarding. I ate most of my pretzel - which was like a rock & she ate a couple bites of salad. Noisy, crowded flight & we couldn't sleep & were too tired to really eat. Oh well.....
So, that's the scoop! More in my WISH journal & hopefully pics by the end of the weekend.
