birthdays for 6yr old ds and 3yr old dd - suggestions?

This trip we're planning is to celebrate the kids' bdays and mine too!
I want to know if you all have suggestions for what we can do to make it more special...are there things we can plan? I can't spend too much so budget conscious things would be best.

Also, what do the pins do? They get more attention right? We went there before for my son's bday and he had the pin but didn't get any extra attention or anything. Just not sure if I'm missing something there.

If you can afford a character meal, that would be my first choice, but my second would be breakfast at the Rainforest Cafe. They always make a big deal out of the birthday boy or girl, and the breakfasts are always very reasonably priced. Also, it never costs much to bring a few little things, like birthday plates and cups, from Dollar Tree, get a few Mickey Mouse cupcakes from the bakeries and have a little party in the room.
