My sister-in-law and I are just starting to plan for a two family trip in Fall 2022. Her child and my child have birthdays a week apart (same age). Most likely we will be going over my child’s birthday but it will be birthday trip for both. Can we get birthday buttons for both of them even though the other’s birthday was either the week before or the week after depending on final travel dates?

Were also thinking of staying off site to have more space to share between our families. Does this preclude the birthday celebrations? Any other tips for us to think about specifically with regard to making the trip equally special for both birthday kids?

Yes, you can get birthday buttons for both! :)

Staying off site will have no impact on the birthday celebrations on property. Just an idea: you may want to look into renting DVC points and getting a bigger space on property - just for a little extra magic!

Not sure if you have boys or girls but there's lots of fun extras you can do for birthdays - special dining, BBB, tea, etc.

I always went around my birthday I did have a card from Mickey on my hotel bed but that was it outside of the parks

My dad got a birthday button when it wasn't his birthday. :) You shouldn't have a problem.

How fun! Staying off property will have no bearing on birthday buttons or anything you choose to do for their birthdays. When you arrive at the parks, you can get buttons at guest services. We've gone for bday trips to celebrate my girls and husband's birthdays and we always get buttons and it's great because there are always friendly CMs that say Happy Birthday or do something to make them feel special. I think back when we used to do regular desk check in, you could get buttons at the resort too but not sure if they have that anymore.

Birthday buttons are at most gift shops and guest relations at the parks, anyone can wear one! Many of the CM's will say Happy Birthday so be sure they are ok interacting with CM's (one of my kiddos was shy and would rather not wear a button).

Not sure what you mean by birthday celebrations onsite vs offsite because anything you want to do must be planned and paid for by you but are available no matter where you stay. I would do some research on some character meals that would appeal to them both or if they have different tastes pick one for each. When you make the ADR you can note that your celebrating but don't expect much more than a happy birthday and maybe a cupcake!

There are options to order a cake at some of the restaurants so you could look into that as well.

Have fun!
