My husband and daughter share a birthday. Their birthday is on the day that we will be flying to Orlando. Although we don't plan to visit a park the day we arrive, we do plan to do a dinner show that evening. Does anyone have any suggestions as how to celebrate a birthday while on vacation? i.e. do airlines recognize them? What about dinner shows? :bday:

Well, I would have spent my birthday at WDW this past september if it hadn't been for our ole' friend Frances! We had to push our trip back one week because of the hurricane. However, here's a few suggestions.

When you board your airplane...talk to one of the flight attendants and tell them that it's your daughter and husband's birthdays. You could ask if she could have the captain give them a HB wish when he does his little talk before the plane takes off or lands.

As for dinner shows, try the same thing. I don't know if they'll do it but find someone that works there and let them know what the situation is and see if they can anyway incorporate that into the show...even at the beginning or the end.

I've never tried it at a dinner show but a pilot did wish my figure skating team good luck at our competition once on a plane ride from Detroit to Alaska.

It doesn't hurt to ask...the worst that they can say is "no"...right? And you never know if you don't try!

We took an extended family trip in 10/03. Our arrival day was my BIL's bday. We weren't planning on doing anything but dinner that day. So, I called Chef Mickey's (where we had our PS) and had them note it on the reservation. They came out w/ a cupcake w/ a candle and sang happy birthday to him. As well as putting confetti and streamers on the table.

Definitely tell them at the dinner show. If you are seeing a show at Disney, i.e. Hoop De Doo Revue I think you can purchase a cake there for $12.00. I know the restaurants do that if you want something more than the complimentary cupcake! I love celebrating birthdays at Disney. I will be celebrating our son's b-days in March at WDW - we can't wait!!!!! Have a great time!!! :cheer2:

I wouldn't count on the airline making an announcement unless it is Southwest.

If you really want something for your husband and daughter arrange and pay for it yourself. Lots of people expect that Disney will do something for them. Sometimes they do, most times they don't.
