Birthday Suggestions: California Adventure

For the first time, I'll be at DLR for my birthday! Here are the plans so far:

• Dinner at Carthay Circle Restaurant
• World of Color

Since it's a blockout day on my pass, I'll have a 1 park/1 day ticket that day for DCA. Our trip is during the Christmas season.

Do you have any suggestions for other things to do that day? Our budget is stretched as it is, so I'm looking for free or low cost extras.

We went for my birthday last year (my bd is 12/30 and we went on 12/31). I would make sure you ride RSR in the dark! We didn't plan a sit down dinner, just ate at Pacific Warf. My husband surprised me with tickets on 12/30...so no real time to plan the trip, we just winged it.

That sounds delightful! I'd definitely get some treats from the Cozy Cones. (I ended up having ice cream (!) for brunch and then a late-ish lunch at Carthay Circle so I was way too full to have dinner. I had popcone while waiting for World of Color!)

The only "freebies" I can think of are the Buena Vista Street newspaper and I heard you can now sometimes get tickets on the Red Car Trolley, which would be neat. And of course you can draw a character at Animation Academy, so in that sense you get a free piece of paper and some pencil lead.

http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=47932962&postcount=2 has everything I did a few years back--most of the experiences are still around. There is DEFINITELY plenty to do in that park; I didn't even see Aladdin or do Toy Story Midway Mania or the thrill rides.

If the bell ringers are in DCA again this year, I wouldn't miss them; I never saw them in person but they looked great!
