My friend is having her daughters birthday party coming up, and since we cant make it (I had already told another friend I would be at their party) I wanted to get her a little more than I usually would. They are going to Disney this summer/fall for the first time. The other day when we were at Big Lots I saw this "trunk" of Disney princess costumes for a good price, and if it didnt come with shoes I was going to get those too from walmart. Would this be a good gift for a 4yr old girl?

I think it would be a great gift, BUT.... the clothes in those trunks tend to run small. I have a 4 year old and they were too small for her when she was three. I am going to a birthday party for a 4 year old this weekend, and I am going to try to find Disney DVD BINGO. My 4 year old got it for Christmas and we love it.

What about putting together a bag of thing for her trip...an autograph book, disney themed pen, pin lanyard, maybe a princess/character tee shirt or outfit, disney bathing suit, beach towel, sunglasses/flip flops, etc.

I know my dd always loved gifts that had lots of components LOL.

My DD turned 4 two weeks ago. If they have a DD on the small side, the trunk would be a great gift. If she is a larger kid, there might be a size issue. Anything Disney Princess is probably great for the 4 year old, the fairies are a huge hit too. My DD is really into the Disney "barbie" type dolls (or any barbie type stuff) and those little bitty princess sets with the rubber clothes and tiny pieces. If your friend won't kill you, my DD's absolute favorite gift was some paint, paint brushes and this folder of giant disney princess pictures to paint. You could use crayons on them too, but I'm sure it wouldn't be nearly as fun! One of my absolute best friends did that to me, I think it was payback for me getting her DD the cotton candy machine she wanted a few years back! (Actually, we always both get the okays from each other ahead of time to be the aunt that gets the good messy or loud presents). If she doesn't already have a "Pretty Pretty Princess" game, they have a Disney princess version out right now. You move a man around a board and collect jewelry. We have the non-disney version, but that game is a big hit at my house too. My DD actually went nuts when she got a Disney princess sleeping bag for Christmas. It came from either Target or Walmart. She loved that thing. She insisted on going to sleep in it every night for a while and we were always picking her up off the floor and putting her in her bed. There are so many things they like at that age. My list could go on and on.

Thanks everyone. I have 2 boys, so I really dont remember what its like to be a 4yr old girl. I usually spoil her girls on their birthday (or so she says) because I dont have girls and its the one time I can shop for little pretty dress up things (all my friends have boys except her and my bff and she has 2 boys and a tomboy who hates dress up). LOL. When her sister turned 4 we were out of state so I only sent a gift card. I will ask about the pretty pretty princess game.

The dress up trunk is a great idea! My DD4 brought two of her outfits to WDW from her trunk, although she never wore them LOL!

We just went to a b'day party for my friend's DD who turned five. They are going on their first trip to DIsney in May, so part of her gift was her own small cosmetics bag, a Cinderella flip mirror/brush (from Bed Bath and Beyond), Barbie sunglasses (from Rite Aid, they usually have princess ones), and a Burts Bees spf chapstick. She loved it, felt very "big girl".

Ask her mom if you could buy her a princess autograph book online or at your local Disney store? For another friend who was taking his son for the first time, we got him an autograph book and a bag of Goofy licorice bites.

Oh, almost forgot! You could also include a loofah ball (like you see in the Target dollar spot) since the hotels at WDW all have shower gel. I am making note of that for our next trip for DDs.

The dress up costumes are quite small in the trunk. I bought mine at a good price also but was disapointed at how small they are.

What about a Disney Gift Card and tell her about the My Little Pony fill a box at DTD. It costs just under $20 and you can get all the things in one box. Princess outfits for the ponies, mirror, bed, etc. They even have hair clips that can be for the pony or for the child.
