Birthday Disaster with PS! Please help!

O.K., here's the situation. We are staying at the Poly Concierage for the first time in November. Even though I am a control freak I let them do all of my PSs.

On another board, I heard a few people mention that things had been messed up on their PSs. I thought that I should check a few of them since this is my DS's 7th birthday trip. The one meal that my DS asked for was breakfast at Chef Mickey's. When I called, the CM told me that the reservation was for September 11th, NOT November 11th. Then he checked and the restaurant is all full. MAJOR PROBLEM!!!!!

The other place that my DS asked for was Whispering Canyon. So as an alternative I am thinking of switching the Whispering Canyon reservation I have from dinner to breakfast and the Chef Mickey's reservation to dinner. The problem is that the only dinner reservation available is at 8:45. Way too late after a day of excitement for two little boys.

Now I am not sure what to do. Is there anyplace else that does an absolute fantastic birthday breakfast? We wanted to go to MK that morning but I am willing to change it to afternoon if I have to. We do have dinner reservations for Whispering Canyon. I need someplace really special at any of the parks that will make him feel super special. I already have reservations for Crystal Palace and 1900 Park Fare on other days. Please HELP!!!!

First- I would e-mail the Concierge and let them know how very important this is to you- and that you don't understand how a reservation could have been made for a date that was outside of your hotel reservations? (You weren't there in September, were you?). ASk them to check daily for a cancellation- often there are cancellations -and you may get your Chef Mickeys breakfast yet- so don't give up hope.

As far as special breakfasts are concerned - there is always Ohana's for a character breakfast- and that way you would stil be able to go to the MK. I would make sure to have concierge note your Son's birthday on your PS. Jill

You could also try 1900 PF or Crystal Palace. I would also have them check for cancellations daily. (Or do it myself)

Crystal Palace does a great job for birthdays also...singing, clapping, the cupcake delivered to your table...lots of fun.

You could take the boat from MK and have dinner at the hoop-de-doo. Fort Wilderness has lots of things for kids to do (pony rides, chip and dale sing along, etc.) and maybe you could even see the EWP. Our kids love the hoop-de-doo! Good luck.

Turnlisa, consider doing an in-room celebration. If your children are anything like mine, they would be thrilled to be able to push the “Room Service” button on the telephone and place their own food orders. Then, once the Room Service person arrived at the door, your children would get a kick out of watching their meal being set up (table linens, silverware, food, drinks, etc.). You could always contact the Room Service folks ahead of time and let them know that your children will be calling the next day to place their orders, and that you would love it if they could add some balloons and party hats to your order (please let them know that you would gladly pay for any special items that they might be able to whip up for your celebration).

Anyhow, just a suggestion in case you can’t find a restaurant that you want to dine in. Have a wonderful vacation.

Thank you to everyone for all of the great suggestions! I finally got a response from the folks at the concierage desk. Back in August when I first made my PS, the Chef Mickey's had been accidentally booked as a dinner instead of a breakfast. This was supposed to be cancelled and the breakfast booked correctly. This is where the problem arose.

Fortunately for me, they never cancelled the dinner and it was set up for 7:15 p.m. PERFECT!!!! I switched my Whispering Canyons dinner to a breakfast and now we are having dinner at Chef Mickey's. The folks at the Poly were very apologetic and I know that this kind of thing happens once in awhile. I was just glad that I had called to check on my PS or I would have never known.

The last time I called WDW Dining to make sure that everything was correct, I mentioned to the CM that my name was probably on a bulletin board somewhere of people not to talk to! She got a good laugh out of it anyway. Hope that everyone else has a much smoother time getting everything planned! Thanks again for the great responses and all of the wonderful suggestions. You guys are the greatest!

You might want to consider the Restaurantasaurus at the AKL--GREAT CB, especially for a boy

I would also call back and speak to the concierge manager. That is absurd that they messed up your PS's like that, there is no excuse for them to have booked them for a period that you won't even be staying there! I'm sure that a few tables are "held back" and that the concierge manager will be able tto take care of the problem. That is what you pay the extra money for!

The Poly Concierge staff have always had a great BD suprise in our room whenever we were staying there for a BD....a very cute little Mickey Cake, a few balloons and party hats and noisemakers have always been put in the room on the special day without any request from us (except noting on the form that they send out that it was DD's 12th BD or whatever)...I think they even had a charecter beanie in there for her. It is always such a fun suprise. Glad your meal reservations worked out....what a happy occasion. Have fun!!
