My dd's birthday will be celebrated during our trip to Disney (next month!). Anyone know if VWL will help me plan for some balloons to be waiting in our room or delivered on the day of her birthday? Nothing too fancy, but some balloons and maybe something else.

Thanks!

During one of our stays in the early 1990s at OKW we had a birthday. I called MS prior, and they set it up. We got balloons, a cake, (and I think paper plates and party supplies, but I'm not sure) for $35. I'm pretty sure it would cost more, now...but it is certainly something that can be done.

If you don't mind paying for something, as in Chuck S' case, I would just come out and ask at the desk. They should be able to arrange something.

That said, there are many, many reports of people receiving in-room birthday surprises just by casually mentioning it during check-in. And in these cases it's obviously free of charge.

I once travelled with my step father the week of his birthday. He came with me when I checked-in, so I didn't get the opportunity to mention it. The day before his birthday I called down to the front desk and tried to be subtle--I asked if they could help me find a birthday card since I had forgotten to bring one along. Unfortunately the CM that I spoke to wasn't he proverbial "sharpest knife in the drawer." She had to put me on hold just to tell me that I "might" be able to find a card at the gift shop. So, that was the end of that.

We did get special treatment at dinner--don't be afraid to mention the birthday when you are getting PS and again when you check-in at the restaurant.

Also, in case you don't already know, you can pick up a button at the theme parks which will tell everyone that it's your daughter's birthday. She'll get a lot of special attention from CMs and the characters on her b-day.

Call and put a note on your reservation about the birthday. If the CM doesn't mention it at check-in bring up the fact that you had noted a birthday in your party. (I had someone "earning their ears" who didn't mention it when checking in this June with DS turning 1yo.) They then ask who the person's favorite character is, and balloons with a card signed by that character will be in you room on the birthday.

TIP: If you want the card and balloons to be there for your full trip, tell them the birthday is the day you check-in. DS didn't get his surprise until the day before we checked out, his actual birthday.

On our trip in August we stayed at the Boardwalk. I had ordered a cake through Guest services for my twins, 1 cake for both and set up a delivery time. One of the twins poked himself in the eye and had to go to Celebration ER (again) When we returned I told them to please cancel the cake for the next day as we would be at the Doctors and did not know when we would be back.
When we returned the next afternoon, The room was all set for a full party. A cake for each baby with thier names on it. About 2 dozen balloons, streamers, blowouts, fan napkins, confetti, A stitch mug for each of them. All complimentary and sooooo, appreciated. Oh yes, and a card for each. They went above and beyond.
I am not sure what they would charge for this?
Also we had a Birthday cruise out of Wilderness Lodge and the cake was supplied from thier kitchens. The cake was so wonderful. We all couldn't believe how great it was! Good Luck!
