my son will turn 8 on his 1st Disney trip ever!! I will definately
tell CM on arrival in case he might get some extra attention. He
would be thrilled. What I need to know is about options for
B'day cakes. I'm not sure where to order one from. Or if
some of the restaurants make them.

Does anyone have any ideas for my darling son?

Make sure it's noted on all your reservations both at the resort and all your PS reservations. I ordered a cake through Pixie Gifts/Beth for my DD's 16th Birthday in October. It was Tinkerbell and she loved it! Some restaurants allow you to purchase a cake. Depending on the restaurant, you can just tell them at the podium when checking in. A few restaurants gave her a cupcake and sang to her. Make sure to pick up a Birthday Badge at Guest Relations at the parks! He will have all sorts of people singing and wishing him HB. My DD was sung to on the bus. She was allowed to be the first to get on the boat from WL. So many people wished her HB that she sometimes didn't know who to thank. Also, a CM in a store in Frontierland asked my DD if Goofy wished her a HB. She replied "no." She picked up the phone and dialed a number and handed the phone to my DD. It was a prerecorded message from Goofy. My DD actually blushed! It was so cool! They have other characters if he has a fav.

Pixie Gifts can also do a gift bag for him. I did this for my DD. I ordered t-shirts, a Tinkerbell cake, and other goodies including Disney Dollars so she could spend whatever way she liked! They will custom whatever you like and I highly recommend them. Since it's his first trip you could do a Guest of Honor Badge, Water Mister Bottle, Disposable Camera, Lanyard, Pins, Etc. There are so many options depending on your budget!

I'm sure he'll have a Birthday you will both always remember!

One of my DS's birthdays always seem to fall when we are at DW. My youngest actually asked this year if we had to go to Disney for his birthday again!! (I'm not sure he wasn't switched at birth! LOL) Anyways, we LOVE the Boardwalk bakery cakes! You can specify flavor, filling, frosting, and characters on the cake. They also make flat chocolate charaters (colored in) to stand up on the cakes. They are awesome!
Also, the BW one year sent up a little cake and some ice cream in the a.m., along with 2 refillable mugs and balloons at n/c. It was MAGICAL! Housekeeping also put a signed picture of all the main characters on his bed, along with some balloons while we were at the parks. This was three years ago. The following year was another DS's bday and I inquired at the front desk about this. He showed me a list of different packages that could be ordered. I told him about the previous year and that I needed it to be identical. I was more than willing to pay whatever the cost. He made a couple of phone calls and said it was all taken care of and would be comped. Again, MAGICAL!

They had a really cool Mickey cake on the Boardwalk at the Bakery last week.... I wished it was one of our B- days so I could buy the cake.. I think it was around $15......

We had a cake one year at Chef Mickey's but it was just your standard run of the mill cake - nothing too thrilling. We had to order it when we made PSs and I think it was about $10.

We also had it noted on our reservation when we checked in at AKL and DH was surprised on his birthday with a stuffed safari Mickey and an autographed picture.

We ate one year at UNOS (yes, offsite, but only like 10 minutes away) and they gave us a cake for no charge whatsoever. For another birthday we ate at Fridays. Each employee came around the corner and tied a balloon to my grandfather. When they came round the corner they would say, "So I heard it was our birthday! It was absolutely hilarious and by the time they were done there were balloons on his glasses, fingers, ears, wrists, chair, everything. It was quite time consuming for the staff at the restaurant, but completely memorable for us. (I've never laughed so hard!!!)
:hyper:

LTT has a nice birthday cake (about $11) that you can order when you arrive. They will decorate the table if you let them know when you sign in. GF has a very nice Mickey cake (about $40) that you can order. We had it delivered to our table at 1900 Park Faire to eat with our dinner. We could have had it delivered to our room at GF. Other restaurants might have the same cake as LLT or they will give you a cupcake for free.

Let them know when you make your reservation, but plan on doing something yourself if you don't get any notice from the resort. Get the birthday buttons at City Hall (MK) or Guest Relations (Epcot, AK or DS). And buy the birthday cake hat that lights up at one of the store.
