Birthday at MGM

This is probably a silly question, but I was wondering what a nice way to celebrate my birthday at MGM would be? We leave in two weeks and have never been to WDW before. My sister and I have read the dis every day for months and have done so much planning, reservation making etc that I actually forgot we would be at WDW on my birthday. We are going with 6 children and 6 adults, the kids range in age from 1-9 and 4 of them are mine. I guess I would be sad if the day went by without any notice. I am looking forward to spending the time with my family, but was hoping to be able to do something special. We have reservations for lunch at Prime Time Cafe. I love birthdays and was hoping the saying was true that WDW was not just for kids. Any suggestions?

how about getting yourself a birthday pin when you get to the park. I think at MGM you pick them up at Guest Services which is to your left as you enter.

How about Fantasmic show that night?

Are there any characters you would love to meet....search them out and have a picture taken with them.

Let your family know (sublte or not) that you would like to celebrate your bday. You can have your PS noted to indicate its your bday. I know when we did that at MK they offered a decorated table, bday card and free cupcake. We actually upgraded to a 6 inch cake for 12.99 instead of the cupcake. You can ask for the 12 in cakes when you check in. If you want a bigger cake you need to call a special # to order at least 48 hrs in advance (sorry don't have the number anymore...you could always call WDW dining and ask)

If you are staing on site...have a note put on your reservations that there is a bday celebration. This last trip was during my son's and husband's bdays...we got a free upgrade on our resort room at AKL....I am sure mentioning the bdays in the reservation didn't hurt.
