We are celebrating my son's b-day at CP for lunch. Do they have special cupcakes or anything?

Sometimes they are able to bring a cupcake to the birthday person, but not always. If you want something for the entire family to share (they don't bring cupcakes for everyone in the party), or want to be sure that there will be a cake, please call the manager directly in advance (generally they like two days advance notice). They charge a nominal fee for a cake, well worth it to avoid disappointment IMHO.

Don't forget to stop by City Hall on your way in to the MK and pick up a free "birthday" button.

If you have a PS, ask them to note the birthday on it. Then when you check-in, tell the CM that it is your son's b'day. I've seen the servers at CP sprinkle tables with Mickey confetti and bring the birthday child a cupcake with a candle on it. I've heard them play a song, but over the "roar" I've never actually heard what the song is. I've even seen a couple of servers sing at the birthday child's table.

I called last month about this. They noted the birthday on the PS. She said that a cupcake will be given, signed birthday card and all the children celebrating a special event that day will get to parade around the room. Sounds fun.

I just made a PS for my DD's 16th birthday at CP for October (she wants to spend her birthday with Tigger :)) & was told she would receive a cupcake, a card signed by the characters and that there would also be a parade around the room for all those celebrating birthdays (although I've never seen it happen on any of our meals there in the past).

I was also told that you can request a birthday cake when you arrive at the podium ...the cost is $9.99 and it has Mickey on it. Apparently they are prepared for birthdays each day and have these cakes available. She also said that she noted on our PS that it was DD's 16th birthday & that we would be requesting a cake (she said it didn't hurt to give advance notice). This is just what I was told...don't know if that's what will actually happen but I sure hope we don't have to celebrate without a cake.

DisneyLisa-

This is a classic case of one hand not always knowing what the other is doing at WDW. I'd strongly suggest that you call the restaurant in advance to get that cake ordered and/or reserved.

When I made my PS's for this most recent trip, the first one was CRT where I mentioned we would be celebrating my dds birthday. Well every meal we had, her birthday was acknowledged and she was given at the minimum a cupcake. I never stated it was her birthday except for CRT! She got 4 birthday cards and 2 nice placemats. Also she really thought she had a week long birthday! At the RFC she got dessert.
There was also lots of confetti everywhere.

Laura-

It sounds like you had a great trip.

I'm NOT saying that there won't be a cake available at the CP, but DisneyLisa said she would be disappointed if there wasn't. The best way to be sure that it's there is to call ahead. Just trying to be proactive to avoid any possibility of things going awry.

IMHO it's worth making a three minute phone call for :)

Any idea where I can find the phone number Anne? I'll have to call the LTT as well...we're celebrating the 13th birthday of our travelling companion a few days later and the CM gave me the same "instructions" for that dinner. TIA.

Lisa-

Call CRO and they'll give you the direct dial numbers for each restaurant. Have a great trip!
