Birth Certificate Question (Colorado)

Hello

We are curious if anybody has used a CO birth certificate for kids recently. I've heard that they need a raised seal. Our certified CO birth certificates have the state seal (not raised) but does have individual numbers. If you have used one recently or know for sure, let us know. Thanks!

We used CO BC for DH and kids July 2004. Ours do have a raised seal. It is very slightly raised, but it is raised.

I'm from Ohio but I think I can help.

The bc does not need to have a raised seal. It only has to be an original (no copies). My sister's did not have a raised seal on hers. In Ohio, it is different county to county.

All U.S. and Canadian citizens must travel with proof of citizenship, which is a valid passport, original, state-certified birth certificate and picture identification, or a certified naturalization certificate with a picture identification. Acceptable forms of picture identification are state or provincial driver's license, or federal, state, province or local government photo I.D. card. Guests age 17 and under who are U.S. or Canadian citizens are only required to have proof of citizenship, excluding picture identification. These guidelines are based on U.S. government regulations which are subject to change at any time. It is the Guest's responsibility to check with their Travel Agent, government agencies, embassies or consulates prior to their vacation to ensure that they have proper documentation. Any Guest traveling without proper documentation will not be allowed to board the vessel and no refund of cruise fare will be issued.

Birth certificates must either have a raised seal or be on "official" watermark paper.
A photocopy is not acceptable, nor is a birth certificate without a seal or not on official paper.
That's why Passports are so much better, you still need the correct birth certificate to get the first one, but from then on, you just get a new picture and send in the fee to renew them. You never have to mess with a birth certificate again.

Thanks to everyone for the replies. I appreciate you all taking the time. I figured that it was OK but you always worry! I think it will be fine as it is a state certified birth certificate. It is time to get passports for the kids though!

Hi We just came back from the 14 day Repo both DH and DD were born in CO. you will have no problem they are fine.

I was born in Denver and used my BC for our 1st 2 cruises and on the 2nd one I had a problem-the seal isn't raised (but that's how they did it back then) so after that trip I just got a passport.Much easier to travel with anyway. Where in Denver do you live? My grandmother still lives there-Marion St. near Cheeseman Park. Denver is one of the most beautiful cities in the country!Take care! Angel

Thanks again everybody for their replies. We are from Thornton, on the north side of Denver. We are excited to leave for the trip on Wednesday though now our thoughts are in TX and LA.
