We're heading to Orlando for vacation next month..:cool1:

My daughter is 10. We've done 3 family vacations to Orlando in the last 5 years, but have NEVER done Bippity Boppity Boutique. We first went when she was 5, stayed onsite and did everything Disney had to offer. EXCEPT BBB. I think I thought it was a bit cliche at the time, overrated. Our other trips were all about Universal and Sea World and a Disney Cruise (aboard the Dream, no BBB). Each time I considered it, but ultimately just didn't bother. She wasn't asking for it... but a part of me always thought she woudl like.

So this May I have it booked. Obviously she is too old, and too tall, for the whole Disney dress thing... So I booked her hair and makeup and nails. I feel like the window of opportunity is just about over, lol.

I couldn't get her appointment at BBB in Magic Kingdom, so we had to settle for Downtown Disney.

Anyone else's daughter a bit older before they had this done? Did they still love it?

By 10 both of my nieces would have been way to old for BBB. But I know other people with 10 year olds that would have still enjoyed it somewhat. Other than a few pictures with the princesses, they just weren't into much princess stuff by then.

I think they would enjoy the Pirate League much more at that age. I know my DN was 9 and we did the pirate league for my DS3 and she got the one makeup package there and really enjoyed it. Now she is not an overly girly girl, but my other DN is and I still don't think she would have really enjoyed BBB at 10. She may have tolerated it and pretended, but I think she would have been too old.

Just my personal experience with my nieces and every kid is different so who knows. I know some adults who would love BBB :goodvibes

We've done BBB at age 9 and 10. My daughter loves it and asked to do it until she aged out of it. She actually still loves princesses, but she is just really into this process, getting made over and then seeing the result at the end and then having a photo session. I have her 3rd makeover booked for our trip next month. We didn't get to Disney until she was 7.5 and we didn't do it that trip.

At 9 we had Cinderella's Royal Table after so we did a dressy look. This dress is from eBay. Doing a search for flower girl or junior Bridesmaid dress on there is how I find gowns. I search by color. This was at the end of June, but she didn't have it on all day. Her appointment was at 4, plus we had a storm that week. She has on a camisol and shorts underneath, but the dress was soft. She kept the shorts on the make changing easier.

At 10 we didn't have CRT, so we went with more a fun look. My 10 year-old loves pettiskirts with a passion. She'll be 11 in a week, but have loved them since 9 or so.

Here's what we did for BBB at age 10. Tank top was from Wal-Mart. You can kind of see the sparkles on it. Skirt was from eBay, shoes were from Payless, Vest I got online I can't recall where now. Accessories were from a store in the mall that sold them for very little. Earrings are Disney sticker earrings. She's wearing biker shorts under the skirt. I thought she might choose a different hairstyle, but she loves that bun. This was in June.

Next month I'm again going with a long gown because she asked to do it with CRT one more time. So this trip, I booked CRT again. It's lilac. Hopefully the link works for you.

I also considered a knee length dress I found there that was more like a party dress. But she's already told me she prefers full length for CRT. I was thinking of maybe getting it for after she changes, but I'll probably just go with a princess t-shirt.

You know your dd best of course. We're probably in the minority. When we have been she was the oldest there. She couldn't have cared less though.

When my DD was 7, I booked the BBB, and she refused to go. I had to cancel. She stopped wanting to be a princess or wear those type of costumes since she was 5 or 6.

Fast forward last year. We were in Disneyland. What did DD want for her turning 12 birthday? Yep, the BBB. She did not want any of the costumes, I am not sure any would have fit her anyway, and none of the kids shoes fit her either. She wore a pretty sundress and sandals from home. She got the bun hairdo and nails. She was very happy and we did not feel out of place with her being older.

If your DD likes her hair in a highly hairsprayed hairdo, and the fun of being worked on in a salon type setting, then I say let her go to the BBB.

The only thing I would have changed, was not having the nails done. The nail polish was very kiddy, and my DD has nice nail polish at home. I would have had her nails done at a nail salon before going to the BBB. For what it's worth, my DD is bummed she can't got this year, when we will be at WDW.

While I was working at the BBB, I had princesses of EVERY age there (even the occasional ones that were too young, but they somehow snuck in anyways lol princess:) and I don't think there's really an age to have as a "cutoff" age. One of my favorites was when a bunch of us FGITs did a whole family. Great grandma, grandma, two moms, and 4 daughters. It was seriously the best thing I have ever seen. I had the grandma and she was just the cutest and funniest person ever! She wanted a bun, but didn't have much hair to work with so she chose the diva look and it was hilarious to see her with spikey rainbow hair. So I say if you have the money and your girl still wants to do it, go for it until she doesn't feel like it anymore :)

There is a cutoff age now. You can't do BBB if you are over 12.

Yes, I think it got too popular and too many complaints of adults taking up space. It was never meant for the adults anyway.

We were in a similar position with our DDs- we are Florida residents and passholders so our girls have been going to Disney since they were 3 and 1. Despite seeing other girls all dressed up, they never asked to do the BBB thing, so we never said anything about it.

But then on one visit a couple of summers ago, they shared that they really wanted to have the makeover. (They were 10 and 8 at the time.) Fortunately we were able to score a last minute reservation at the DTD location, and they just wore the prettiest dress they had brought with them. They loved having hair and nails done, and afterward we went to afternoon tea at the Grand Floridian and then to MK for a "photo shoot" around the park.

So I would say go for it-- your DDs experience may not be the typical mini-me "princess makeover," but I am sure it will be memorable in its own way.

OP, if you think your daughter would enjoy it, GO FOR IT! Last summer my middle DD and her BFF were both 10, my youngest DD was almost 9, and they all enjoyed it. They all wore sundresses and sandals and loved the attention, the little cinch sack with comb, polish, makeup, sash, etc., and loved the photo shoot afterwards.

Now my oldest DD was 13 and too old for BBB, and she wasn't as into the whole make-over thing, anyway (I know, I have the only teenaged girl in the USA who isn't into makeup, hair, nails, and jewelry!). When we got to the BBB with my younger DDs and BFF, the FGsIT asked why the 4th girl (my eldest DD) wasn't getting a makeover. I explained that even though she looks young, she was actually too old. A few minutes later, one of the FGsIT came over and asked me on the side if my eldest DD would like to do the BBB because her manager said it would be OK (I did NOT ask anyone about this; we are a family of rule-followers; I hope I don't get anyone in trouble even telling this story!). I asked my DD, but she continued to demure (she does not like to be the focus of attention). I persuaded her to go ahead with it -- I was afraid she would regret it later if she never had the experience. They did a great hair style that isn't on the "menu" but involved a series of twists across the crown in fancy clips, and left it full in the back, with lots of sparkle and glitter. She LOVED it, and it was very "teen-aged" looking.

In short, all of the girls (8, 10, 10, 13) really enjoyed the experience. If you think your daughter would enjoy it, do it! :goodvibes

We were on the Disney cruise this fall and DD7 had the BBB package done while DD10 had the Pirates League package. Both were very cute and well done but when it was all said and done DD7 really liked the pirate package better. And it was much cheaper...around $35 to the $60.

We did do a "pedicure and manicure" day at home in a cheaper salon before we left for the trip. I don't know if the BBB was anti-climatic or what her issue was...Mommy loved the BBB!

Offer both, show disboard pictures...Let her decide. It really depends on the child.
