Completely random question but there is a good reason. :) What is the cost for Bingo? My parents are very very kindly taking us on a cruise in April and I think my mom would love to play bingo with my oldest so i plan on Santa putting in a homemade 'gift certificate' stating that we will pay for bingo. just a ball park. THanks.

The cost of bingo varies by package, ship, and usually is more for the last game. There are two ways to play bingo on the ship, with either paper cards having perforated numbers to poke and fold, and electronic handsets. Normally, a 6-pack of paper cards (6 cards for each of the 4 games) is around $30, while a handset having 24 preloaded cards for each of the 4 games is $40. Some ships give you a 3-pack of papercards with the handset and some do not. But the packages go up in prices as you add the number of cards to the handsets. There is a family pack that usually had 2 handsets, each with 24 preloaded cards, and two 3-packs of papercards for all 4 games, this runs around $75 or $80, but varies by ship and specialty jackpots.
Depending on cruise length, there are at least 3 bingos sessions with about an average of one per night. So bingo could get a bit pricy, and the final session of bingo's final game is a snowball jackpot that has to be won (it is usually at least $2000 on a 3-night and much more on longer cruises).

We were on the med this sept and played twice. First time was I think 40 we had one handset and a 3 on. We also played the last games for 90 but had a handset and 6 on. To our amazement we won the jackpot game. Total was 3460 but there were 2 winners so had had to split so we walked out of there with 1732so we nicely went to the booking desk and we are now going to Alaska next year. Have fun on your family cruise. My parents did that for quite a few years. Took our whole famy on trips. It was such a special time. Unfortunately we had to stop in 2004 which was very special as my son got married on that trip my dad was having a hard time traveling and he passed 2 years ago at 89 but we'll always have those special trips with him

Thank you. This is a very very kind gift of my parents as they are taking my husband and I, our 7 year old and 2 year old plus them on the Fantasy in April in Concierge. So looking for small things I can do for them.

Bingo is also a lot of fun. Not like the casinos where it seems like everyone is out for blood. the CM say to stand up when you are one away then everyone else is supposed to yell. SIT DOWNthey also have drawings for different prizes. You and your parents will have a lot of fun. They also let kids play as long as a parent is with them. Have a great time

We love playing BINGO on the ships. The jackpot at the end can get large. On our 7-night New Years Eve cruise on the Fantasy a few years ago it was over $10,000.

We usually buy the $70 package. There are some cheaper packages though

Here is an informational post I wrote about DCL bingo after our Fantasy cruise this past December:

I just read through the informational post that shanti wrote out

very interesting however theres a question I have--we were on the Med sept 3 cruise and won the jackpot at the final bingo session won 1732 the jackpot was actually 3464 but there were 2 winners

how we got paid is they put it on our account but then cashed it out right away and gave us our money--we had to go where the port adventours are booked with someone from the ship possibly the purser and he gave each of the winners 1732 cash!!!

so it didnt sit on our account --it was on the account and then cashout by disney and the cash was given to us--after that we sure made a bee line for the room so we could put the money in the safe that was sure exciting never won that much at one time

Wow! So glad I stumbled on this post. I would love to play bingo on the ship! When/where do you have to sign up for that?

You just show up and pay there. No advance booking. Show up early for the final round, as it will likely sell out.

You can choose to cash it out right away or leave it on your account until the last day. Since you won on the last day, that's probably why there was no option to leave it on the account.

Congrats on your win!

We love playing bingo, but it can get expensive, especially when it feels like the same people are always winning and you are not (Shake it up Betty!) :rolleyes1 However, we just schedule it into our budget, because we are going to play either way! I know on our last cruise (4-nights), the earlier sessions in the cruise would give you a buzz/code word/phrase to use at the next session, where you got a bonus card. Might not be something that happens on every cruise, but you may find it does :thumbsup2 We are on a 7-night this next time, so not quite sure how much our bingo budget is going to come to! :rotfl:Some of the more traditional bingo calls are not included, but DCL have their own special numbers - I will leave them as a surprise, if you haven't come across them yet :thumbsup2
