We will be heading down soon, to spend Christmas with Mickey and the gang!

The big debate is should we bring our bikes. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

:cool1:

We always take our bicycles with us. Although it would be nice to rent a golf cart, I cannot justify the additional expense. There are so many places to ride bikes because automobile traffic is discouraged. If you want to go to the trading post, it's much easier to jump on your bike then to wait around for a bus. Especially with alot of campers decorating for Christmas, now is a great time to have bikes also so you can ride around and check it out. :moped: :moped:

taking your bikes is fun! Especialy to ride over to Wilderness Lodge for breakfast.

But just a warning here....warn your kids (and everyone else) about the edges of the sidewalks, they have bad drop offs. They're not level with the grass, so when crossing from the road to the sidewalk, you must come at it direct, dont' try to just angle over. i did that....broke my wrist in two places when i went down. You can have lots of fun, just be careful.

Last time we were at Ft. Wilderness we brought bikes. It was great! This year we are excited because we are renting a golf cart for the first time!! We are going to be at WDW during the Christmas season and thought it would be fun the ride around and see all of the decorated campsites and drink hot chocolate! We justified the cost by not eating any sit down or character meals...only quick serve at the parks and meals at the campsite this time! :cheer2:

When we went in June, we took our bikes and were we glad we did. We did lots of early morning rides to Trails End for breakfast or to the marina to rent water sprites. We also took them to the pool once or twice even though it was an easy walk.

If you are going to be spending a lot of time at the campground bikes are great. There are lots of bike trails and not much traffic. We are going to splurge on the golf cart because we have two small kids who are too big for baby seats, but can't really keep up on their bikes yet. Golf carts are loads of fun but they are pricey. There are also bike racks at all the main stopping points- marina, trails end, bus stops and I've never seen anybody bothering anyone's bikes.
LLagow :moped:

We brought our bikes last time and are planning again for the spring. It was so much fun and more relaxing to ride your bike than wait for a bus. We locked them at the trading post or by the marina but never bothered to at our site.

We love to take our bikes! Just don't forget your helmets and any lighting for night-time riding.

I don't remember the bike rental rates but I do know that for our fam of 5, one day bike rental would be about as much as a one day golf cart rental. We opted for the convenience of the cart for a couple of days and used our own bikes.

Where all can you ride the bikes? I know there is the path betw. WL and FW...but I guess you can ride all through the loops of FW?? Other bike trails???
Thanks...hope to get an hour bike ride in while I am there (won't be as fast as my road bike at home, but at least it will be some exercise!!).

Bike rental is 8.00 per hr. 22.00 per day . The problem with rental is no over night rental. We always bring bikes and ride every where. FW is very large and it is great to ride.

Thanks for the feedback.

WE'RE DOWN TO THE SINGLE DIGITS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cool1:

$22/day...Hmmm...it might be cheaper to buy a bike at WalMart or Target upon arrival, and then pass it on to another camper at the end of our vacation. (Don't want the hassel of bringing it home on a plane!)
