New DVC owner here. Planning for upcoming annual dues and trying to decided best savings I can plan for dues. I have the Costco credit card that I think gets 2% back on “travel”. Trying to decide maybe I buy Disney gift cards somewhere at a discount...or has anyone used the Disney chase Visa? Looks like if I sign up I can get $200 with initial spend - but not sure how to use the “points” earned on that card.

Any tips or recommendations greatly appreciated!

Many people this time of year look for places that discount, like BJs and Target and buy Disney Gift cards, and get the discount plus the credit card rewards.

The Disney Chase Visa points can be loaded to a Disney Rewards card that then works the same as a gift card. You can use it to make one-time payments on your dues. And as Sandi says above, many people buy gift cards at a discount - for instance, we have the Target Red Card, which gets us 5% off - and then pay dues with them.

You can't set up to pay dues automatically monthly with a credit card, but you can set up to have automatic withdrawals from your checking account and then make one-time payments with gift cards each month before the automatic payment comes out. The GC payment will offset the checking account withdrawal, and you can even build up a credit balance and never have them draft your account because you're all paid up in advance.

I got a target red card simply for getting 5% off disney gift cards. We used to be able to roll discount target gift cards into discount disney gift cards and the savings could be upwards of 10%, but they no longer allow you to use target GC to buy disney GC. The 5% off is the best I have really found.

I do what PP mentioned. Set up auto monthly payments to my checking. Then I buy digital disney gift cards from target and apply to my account each month. If you stock up on GC you could just pay off your dues all at once but I never save up that much so just doing it monthly works for me.

The Disney rewards are pretty easy to use once you begin. We had a pretty good balance a few years ago and based on tips I read here I went to Guest Services and requested a rewards card. I then called Chase, gave them the card number and they funded it - they will of course mail you a card as well. After that first use I kept the card and periodically reloaded it which is easy from the Chase website, no call required. In addition to the Disney Visa we have also used GC’s for all things Disney including dues. We are very fortunate to have our primary grocery chain, Meijer run 10% GC promos several times per year. We buy them with reward credit cards for additional savings.

I use my Amex Cash Back card. The one with no yearly fee offers 3% cash back at supermarkets. The Amex preferred cash back card offers 6% cash back at supermarkets , but has a yearly fee. The Chase Freedom cash back can offer 5% on different stores depending on the quarter and has no fee. Do you know If the discount larger than 5%? Do they offer larger denominations?
The discount is less than 5%. $500 e card is $484.98, $50 ecard is $47.98 $150 pack of 3 $50 cards is $144.98 The $50 card for $47.98 is the best deal.

Thank you. Not enough to tempt me away from Target Red Card discount of 5%.

If you have a BJ’s membership, they will have Disney GCs as a part of their Black Friday sale beginning Nov. 20. GCs will be 6% off.

I tend to purchase my GCs over the course of the year based on credit card deals that I find. Right now, I’m sitting on offers that will give me 10% back in statement credits (up to defined maximums) on GC purchases at Rite Aid, Lowe’s, Bed Bath & Beyond and Staples. AmEx used to be my go to card for those offers but lately my Chase cards have been the ones with the best deals. Discover IT was a good deal when their quarterly 5% bonus was for warehouse purchases this past summer. The Disney GC deals thread on the Budget Board is a great resource for keeping up to date on any discounts that could be out there.

Keep an eye on the budget board. There are times when BJs has a greater discount. Typically I believe you have to email BJs and purchase a larger amount.

Hello friends. Best way is the cash app boost method. Gives you 10% off at a grocery store max discount is $7.50. You can read all about it. (Walmart is not considered a grocery)
