Biggest park peeves?

Dirty kids ahead of me in line for a character meet and greet. More than once my kids and I waited in line for a good long time only to have a premature princess departure because some filthy brat ahead of us was covered in cotton candy drool or BBQ sauce.

My biggest pet peeve isn't on Disney property, It's at Orlando International Airport. People call the tram that goes from the gates to the main building the Monorail. It hurts when they say it. They act like they're already in Disney World. NO. JUST... NO. It is not the monorail, it is a tram. I hope some of you know what I'm talking about.

Please, do not ever call the tram the Monorail. Please. I just might punch you in the face.

anger issues much?

hey -- looks like we're going to be there at the same time. my 9 year old daughter calls it the airport monorail. i'd love to see you try to lay a fingernail on her.

I saw the escalator working once. By the time we got out of Soarin' it was broke again. I had to use the elevator last time and a woman broke my big toe by stepping on it with the heel of her foot. UGH!

That drives me nuts. I just want to jump out of my vehicle and confiscate their camera.

My biggest pet peeve is people touching me while in lines. I know it's a tight space, but I have never rubbed against, repeatedly bumped into, kicked, slammed my bag into, let my kids climb all over, or leaned on the people in front of me.

Yes, I actually had a woman leaning on me, even though there was a wall right next to her. I told my husband that we needed to change places before I got into a fight. She proceeded to lean on my DH for the rest of the wait. :rotfl2: He has much more tolerance and patience than I do.

Another form of bad queue behavior is talking about inappropriate things loudly while in line. I have recently heard graphic childbirth descriptions and sexual discussions as well as foul language.

Oh heck yes... I do not understand why some people feel the need to be touching the person in front of them in a line. I've never said anything to them, but I make it as obvious as possible that they need to back away by dramatically sighing and moving as far away from them as possible... If necessary I start leaning back on them or getting my family to stand sideways elbows out!!!

I went to Disneyland Paris last year and this problem was rampant!!! Next time I go, I would seriously consider wearing a shirt that explains to people I'm American and need my space!... If that fails maybe I could get away with a literal plastic bubble to wear.

Mine is that I always end up with rude people behind me when I show up to get my spot 5 minutes before the parade begins. :lmao:

My biggest one is the overzealous CM with the passive aggressive tone who's words are polite, but speaks and acts in a demeaning manner.

Oh, totally know what you are talking about!

Had an experience with one on the Pooh ride that broke down. A female cast member came by to escort all of the riders off safely and was pretty much screaming at us in this polite but also condescending tone: "STAY OFF THE WALLS PLEASE" "PLEASE DO NOT STEP ON THE PROPS ON THE FLOOR" "PLEASE KEEP FOLLOWING ME IN A SINGLE FILE LINE" etc... I was standing right behind her as she was screaming/leading us out and I really wanted to tell her "we're not idiots and everyone has been following you just like you asked us to 50 times now".... C'mon lady.

I suggest you go on Youtube and look for CoP videos. You will see that not everyone listens to the CMs, or seems to have their brain engaged when at WDW. I get why they use that tone.

People who walk diagonally infront of the wheelchair I am pushing!!

There is also a ramp by the haunted house that people seem to think they have right of way when they walk up it!!

I now take the plan that I just go down the ramp weather people are walking up it or now.

Obviously I take care not to go down if a stroller or another wheel chair are using it.

I just have a problem with big groups going in that line. Or those that don't understand that they can't ride together when they get into that line. It makes it a huge wait for actual single riders. I waited 30 minutes or more multiple times on RnR this last trip because so many groups were taking advantage of the system.

Can't say I agree there. Trying to ride together from the single ride is one thing (trying to take advantage of the situation), but standing in single rider line by yourself, with two or twelve ppl you know isn't a concern to me. It helps fill the car and reduces the overall standby time.

Generally I just totally chill out on holiday and take each day in my stride but last time I was there I got rather annoyed with a few very rude, inconsiderate people about the parks. The worse offender was in EPCOT, we had a stroller with us and I was VERY aware of moving out of the way for people and trying to cause as little trouble for everyone around us, outside France a HUGE tour group was standing practically blocking the path to carry on through World Showcase so we stopped and waited but after about 5 minutes we realised we would need to go round them. There was a steady stream of people going round so we stood a little then a lovely gentleman ushered us through saying 'You will be here all day if you let everyone past you!' we thanked him and moved on but this other man decided to barge past, almost knocking me over, and tried to step over our stroller and ended up standing, yes standing, on my DDs ankle and foot inside her stroller and scraped all the skin off the top of her foot!!!! He did not stop to apologise either, just kept barging on with his wife and son trailing behind shouting at him in Spanish! My DD (2 at the time) was screaming like crazy and a mini crowd had gathered round us in disbelief of what had happened. We moved over to the wall at the lake to have a look at her foot and clean it up. I was, of course, extremely angry but I just took 30 mins to comfort my DD and compose myself and carry on with our holiday. I always wonder if that man felt bad about what he did.

I hate it when CMs refuses to take any responsibility. Like on my last trip, I used the toilets next to CP in MK. One of the stalls were covered in poop, that someone had smeared all over the walls. Because I care and want something like that to be taken care of asap, I decided to find a CM and tell them about it. And for once I was lucky, I found two custodial CMs standing right outside the toilets as I exited, so I told them. They just looket at me funny and told me that that toilet was another custodial CMs responsibility, and then they tried to tell me where to find that CM :headache: If I hadn't been so shocked, I would have taken their names and stopped by guest services.

My biggest pet peeve is getting to MK for rope drop at EMH and then having the rest of the family insist on stopping at the bakery for a half-hour for breakfast. What??? It's prime ride time folks!!

Here's a suggestion (not one that I've tried) for dealing with this, but requires some flexibility. If you know what they like from the bakery for breakfast, get it the day before (without telling them) and then surprise them with it when you arrive early before the park opens. :thumbsup2

Even better are the ones who stop at the end of an escalator... When they stop on the sidewalk you can go around them, or at least stop and not run in to the back of them. But the escalator just keeps feeding people into the traffic jam...

I've seen this a few times at The Land...

Maybe *that's* why it's never running! Maybe Disney turns it off on purpose during crowded times.

Guests who stop in the middle of the road to read their park maps. (Move to the side people)

Also people who leave during Carousel of Progress causing the ride to reset.:furious:

Pre-parade antics for sure are my biggest pet-peeve. We had 7 in a group at MVMCP in December, and we were on the back end of the castle hub 2 hours before the parade - we watched the castle lighting, castle show, castle magic show, all without incident. Then, when it was time to turn back around and sit down for the parade, the people behind us (formerly in front of us) decided they were all going to move in front of us - on the street in front of the curb where we were now all sitting/standing.

When the cast member (aka Parade Nazi as I like to call them) came to tell them to get on the curb, they literally tried to step on/ sit on us. We said, "I don't think so. You are going to have to move. We've been here for 2 hours." The woman in the lead said, "Well we've been behind you for 2 hours." ((crickets.......)) Some folks around us just started laughing. What the heck kind of argument is that???

I'm a hair claustrophobic and very antsy about personal space, so the whole pushing in line, leaning on me gets to me also. I find this happens most from older non-English speaking women, and figure it must be a cultural thing? In any case, I either lean back, or sometimes I do the step-stop, step-stop walk, and sometimes, this is a pretty funny way to stop it too, just turn around and walk backwards. "Oh, hello there!"

I've never been on Carousel of Progress but I also hate it when people stop inexplicably and when people take flash photography. THE CMS SAID NO!! :thumbsup2

1. People who pee on toilet seats and don't clean it up. I get it that they might not want to sit down to pee, but if they pee on it, they should clean it. Why should a stranger using the toilet after them be the one responsible for cleaning someone else's pee?? I just don't get it!

2. People who leave their trays and trash on the tables after eating at a quick service restaurant. Especially when they see that there are others waiting for a table. Do they think a cast member will quickly jump in there to clean up after them before someone else sits down? Don't they realize that the next guest will end up being the ones cleaning up after them?

Wow. Happy to get that off my chest! I'll try to think of others...I'm sure I can scrounge something up!
