Biggest Loser "Sizzlin' Hot" Summer Challenge

Ok I have to quote myself which is weird......but I need help with my goal already.

I went to find the Couch to 5K application and find that there from which I can choose. :confused3 HELP! THose of you using these apps, can you give me recommendations?

Thanks!

Christopher

I'll second the recommendation for the active.com C25K app - I love it! I can use my music, and the audio coach just pops in to tell me when to switch and when I'm at the halfway point. She's also very congratulatory when you finish a workout. :)

I use "C25k" by Zenlabs. I am pretty sure it is an iPhone only app since my fiance couldn't find it on his droid, so that may make a difference what apps you will be able to find! Good luck!!!

I am so upset with myself. I have been having a bad day, so I went to my favorite Mexican resturant for lunch. I ordered my favorite burrito. :scared1:
I guess the best way to look at it is that tomorrow is a new day, and that dinner is not a lost cause. I just need to remember to not let one bad meal get me down.

Well, my goodness, I had better check on this thread more often! It has only been a day, and I already don't have time to go through all the responses!! :rotfl:

QOTD June 1 - I have one major goal for this challenge - DON'T QUIT!!! Now here are my other goals.

1 - I want to run 30min+ 3 days/week, and do other cardio and strength training 2 days/week.
2 - I will be following WW (no meetings, just going on what I know from before)
3 - I have a wedding to go to in August. I want to buy a size 14 dress for that (18 now, so here is hoping!)

Long term, I want to be back in a size 10 (or smaller! :) ) and I would LOVE to run a half marathon someday!!

Now for the exciting news...I have been following C25K for awhile now, and although I took a little break during our vacation last week, I am happy to say that ......drumroll please.......I FINISHED IT TODAY!!!! :cool1: I am not running a 5K yet as I go pretty slow, but I can do the full 30 minutes! :) I will get faster as I get more practice, I hope, but I am so excited that I can go the full 30 minutes!!

Hope everyone has a great day!!

Don't be to hard on yourself and just remember tomorrow is a new day! Try to have a healthier dinner and maybe do a little extra exercise, if you feel the need to.

I use the Ease into 5K app as well. Love it! easy to use, you can add music, it has GPS, and you can journal on it.

Nope don't wait until tomorrow. Start new, right now! Like you said, it's one bad meal, not one bad day.

Intro QOTD (Question of the Day) 5/30/12: Please introduce yourself.

Well I am a few days late to the party but at least I made it. Some of you may remember me....my name is Lindsay. I joined the BL challenges 2 years ago. I had always been thin and athletic and then I graduated high school and stopped my athletics. Put on weight and lost it, put on weight and lost it, etc....you get the point. I really wasnt that bad until after I had my second child in 2007. I have not been able to loose the weight and actually put on more weight as the years went on. 2 years ago I decided to give myself a goal and I signed up for the princess half marathon 2011. I lost 32lbs and ran the princess at 183lbs. I had more to loose but instead of coming home and getting right to work I slacked. I got back up to 212 and have been working since January to loose and keep off the weight. I am currently at 197.6. I have a new motivator in sight. We are taking a trip to disney in Oct.:yay: So I have 126 days to get myself fit.

Oh and the other stuff you should know about me is that I am 33, Married for almost 9yrs (will be celebrating in disney). I have two sons...Ryan 7 1/2 and Nick 5yrs. In addition to being a full time mom I am also a full time worker. I am the practice manager of a pediatric office. I have been working at the office for 16yrs. I love my job and most times I have a good balance going between work and home but it is quite stressful to keep the balance and often my health and exercise gets thrown on the back burner. I have realized that I am important too and the past two years I have been much better of taking care of myself.

My exercise of choice is running although I really enjoy Zumba too. I love sports and we are avid Philly fans. Go Phillies and Eagles.:yay: I have been currently doing a specific workout the past month but I am being close lipped about it because I feel when I talk about what I plan to do sometimes I dont do what I say and then I feel like a failure. So this time I am going to do it and then live to tell about it. What I can tell you is that I love what I am currently doing, my husband and I are doing it together, I have lost 8lbs and he has lost 15. I also have lost 4 inches from my total measurements. I am feeling great and am starting this challenge off on the right foot.:thumbsup2

oh and last I will add I made some amazing life long friends on here and I cant thank them enough because I would have quit a long time ago if it wasnt for them.

[QOTD Friday, June 1, 2012: So do you have a plan for how you are going to make your goals for the challenge? Share your plan and your goals big and small for this challenge.

Let's get this party started! party:party:party:

I plan to do my workouts 6 nights a week and also try to fit runs in every now and then too. I will continue to use my fitness pal to track my calories. I will rely on my friends here to keep me inspired and if I have a bad off plan day I will not let it be an excuse to just give up all together. I also will plan my meals and keep healthy choices at home.

thanks for coaching this week Lisa you are doing an awesome job. I have high hopes to catch up later and read everyones intro's. Excited to catch up with old friends and meet new ones too.

QOTD Friday, June 1, 2012: So do you have a plan for how you are going to make your goals for the challenge? Share your plan and your goals big and small for this challenge.

My short term goals:
lose 20 pounds during this challenge
focus on the small victories...my overall weight loss goal is much higher than I care to admit, and I will not let myself get overwhelmed with that large number.
exercise at least 5 times a week, minimum of 60 minutes a day
Plan my meals, at least breakfast and lunch, better than I do today.
**I work from home, so really no excuse on this one, other than poor planning

Long Term goals:
Achieving and maintaining a healthy weight

HAPPY FRIDAY! And good luck to everyone!

Leslie

Hey all! I am so excited about this challenge. I have been watching my calories (my fitness pal) and working out every day for 2 weeks and I have lost a total of 12 pounds (in about 4 weeks). I have quite a bit to lose still...but I am taking it in 5 pound increments.

QOTD Friday, June 1, 2012: So do you have a plan for how you are going to make your goals for the challenge? Share your plan and your goals big and small for this challenge.

My goal total goal for the challenge is 20 pounds.
****I want to concentrate on 5 pounds at a time.
My goal is to complete MYFITNESSPAL every day.
My goal is to stay at 1200-1300 calories per day.
My goal is to walk every day and start doing some strength/toning.

Ultimately, I want to be down 50 pounds for our next Disney trip. It's a lofty goal, but I think I might be able to do it! :cheer2:

I am so upset with myself. I have been having a bad day, so I went to my favorite Mexican resturant for lunch. I ordered my favorite burrito. :scared1:

Don't get down on yourself. It is only a fail if you let it sideline everything else. one meal didn't cause the weight problem and one meal won't solve it. It is a process over time. Just balance it out with something extra healthy today and keep going :)

Awesome job on completing the C25K :) that is inspiring. Keep up the great work.

I didn't expect the laundry detergent to create such discussion! It is for the organizing portion of Healthy Habits. The notebook is also for the financial portion of HH.

QOTD: Goals

I have 3 goals for the Summer Challenge.
1. Lose 12 pounds-almost 1 lb per week
2. Increase exercise to 5 cardio, 3 strength training, and 4 mindfulness-based stress reduction yoga sessions per week
3. Complete C25K

I will be tracking faithfully on myfitnesspal. Feel free to friend me there. I am cclovesdis there too.

I also plan to earn more HH points. I better check to see how much laundry detergent we have. I know we talked about needing to buy it, but that might have been only because it is on sale. We have to buy a certain kind because I'm allergic to the world. Well, not the world, but enough.

A bit about me: I am gluten intolerant and lactose intolerant. I'm allergic to oats and oysters. I have no idea if the test results on oysters are correct or not because I can't stand looking at them, let alone eating one. I get sick to my stomach when I eat peanut butter so I don't eat peanuts. I have hypothyroidism so I can't have a lot of soy or walnuts. I don't really like nuts, so not a big deal, but still something to remember. The allergy test results were also positive for rice, cashews, hazelnuts, and wheat. My gastro changed me from wheat allergy to gluten intolerant and the other 3 proved wrong. I'm also supposedly allergic to latex. You should have seen me at WDW with all the balloons. I was constantly dodging them. :rotfl2:

I can lose 75 pounds and still not be underweight and because I'm small boned and petite, that might be a realistic goal for me. However, I'm focusing on small increments and would like to lose 12 pounds for this challenge. I'd be happy with more, but I refuse to set myself up for failure. In 7 challenges, I've gained in 6 of them. So, I'm making it my goal to really succeed this time. I have got to get healthy. I'm really focusing on increasing my exercise.

You will hear me talk about med checks. I've been on a med or two (or more) that cause weight gain and finding the right med combo has been a long battle. Well, my doctors and I have found it and I'm doing much better. The meds I am taking now do not cause weight gain. Taking a hypothyroidism med should at least make it possible to lose weight. I know that weight loss is work (thanks Buffy!) and I do not expect this med to help me lose weight. I just know that if I don't take it, I am unlikely to lose weight.

Well, that is me in a nutshell. I tend to be chatty. I also have a mom who makes excessive negative comments. I am getting better at ignoring her.

Hope everyone has a great, on plan weekend!

CC

Good evening everyone! I know a lot of us struggle with sweets, so I wanted to share a great simple recipe I found that is portioned controlled and only about 100-150 calories. Its called 3-2-1 Cake, some of you may of heard of it, but I was just told about it a week ago.

3-2-1 Cake

Ingrediants
1 Box Angel Food cake mix
1 Box Cake mix ANY flavor
2 Tbsp Water

Directions
In a ziploc bag, combine the two cake mixes together and mix well. For each individual cake serving, take out 3 Tablespoons of the cake mix combination and mix it with 2 Tablespoons of water in a small microwave-safe container. Microwave on high for 1 minute, and you have your own instant individual little cake! Keep remaining cake mixture stored in the ziploc bag and use whenever you feel like a treat! You can top each cake with a dollop of fat free whipped topping and/or some fresh fruit.
**I store my mix in a tupperware container with the directions taped to the outside, for my "forgetful" DH
:rotfl:

Intro QOTD (Question of the Day) 5/30/12: Please introduce yourself.

I'm Reenie. I live in the Chicago suburbs with my DH and our 3 kids - DS almost 16, DD 13, and DS 8. My spring and summers seem to revolve around baseball as both my boys play. I work full time and commute to the city most days. I do get some exercise each day as I have a 7 block walk from the train to the office I work at.

You do get a workout everyday! If this was me (I am always running late) ... I could see myself running to work, not by my choice. :lmao:

PHEW! It took me ALL day but I finally caught up!!
So here is my official introduction!!

:wave2: My name is Shannon, I am 28. I am a SAHM to two little monkeys. My daughter Calee is 3. Her name is pronounced like Cali, not Kaylee. My fiance is Cal so we just added the "ee" to his name. So she is like his JR. LOL. My son, Joshua, will be 2 in July. He is a little monster! I'm pretty sure he will give me a heart attack at some point! :)

My weight issues began about 3 months after our daughter was born. I gained 80 lbs in ten months. :sad2: So I have only been dealing with being overweight for 3 years. This is my second BL challenge. I lost 18 lbs in the spring challenge, finishing in 9th place and I also was #1 in the WIN challenge!! :yay: I also lost a few lbs before I started that challenge so I am down about 25 lbs total right now! I also made it to ONEderland during the spring challenge!! So I definitely consider it a success!! I am hoping for similar results this time around!!

My fiance Cal and I are getting married at Cocoa Beach on 10/11/12! With a 5 day Disney-moon (with the kids, of course)! We will be staying at the Art of Animation resort!! :woohoo:
My wedding dress came in last week and I am determined to have it get altered and taken in a little after the summer challenge!!

I am looking forward to this challenge as I am down to crunch time before the wedding! :scared1:

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!!!!

I love the date of you wedding. Great numbers! I am rooting for your dress to be taken in. :goodvibes

Fran I got your request!! And I even took a screen shot of Mary Poppins and you are now friends. How cool is that!!! Mary Poppins is my friend!! :rotfl2:

LOL ... I love it! Trying to figure out all the "stuff" on that site. It always takes me a while to figure things out on the computer. Be patient with me.

Hi everyone - something ironic for the day. This morning I posted my goals and one was to take my kids outside more for physical activity, which I planned on doing when my older son got out of school at 11:30 am - he's 4.

We pulled out of the driveway to bring him to school and were stopped by the police right away. I was shown a picture and asked if I had saw the man in the picture - which I hadn't. Turns out he was lose in our neighborhood (in a small little town that never has crime!) and wanted for assaulting his mom and stabbing her boyfriend. So needless to say my kids are stuck in the house today :sad2:

That is really scary. I hope they caught the person.

*****************************************************

QOTD: I put a short term goal on here and I wanted to add a goal for the end of the challenge. I would like to lose 10 pounds.

I went running tonight with my husband in the rain. It was light and comfortable. I love running in the rain. :goodvibes I usually run while I listen to a book on tape, it makes the time go by. However, I downloaded some new songs and wanted to run to them. My mistakes is that they had a rather fast beat .... which made me run faster ... so I tired out too quickly. My goal is to run longer distances. I can run 2 miles without stopping but I would really like to work up to 3 miles. (Another goal. ;) )

I bought a Groupon to run the Color Me RAD 5K in Pittsburgh in August. My DS who is 12 is running it with me. It should be different.

I haven't introduced myself so here is the short story. I'm Debbie. Been on Dis for 14½ years, and was not creative with my name. In those days...we weren't. I've been on the original W.I.S.H. challenges, too, many moons ago. (before it was W.I.S.H.) I did the first W.I.S.H. half-marathon in 2005 with my three sisters. Those are memories that will live with me forever. :goodvibes

I am a teacher, and we go until June 29th, so will be mostly MIA for the first month. I shall skim (well, do a scroll-by) every day or so, but, probably, won't be posting. I really can't keep up with all that chatter!
I'm walking right down the middle of Main Street USA-a-a . . . it's the heart of America, the heartbeat of a holiday-ay-ay-ay! The place was made with a magical plan . . .

We all know a trip to the Happiest Place on Earth starts with a little trip right down Main Street USA. ::MickeyMo

How many times have you been on Main Street and seen some poor group of people standing right in the middle of the street staring at a map and trying to figure out where they are going to go. We Disboards big time planner types know that you can't get where you want to go without a great PLAN.

DO create a plan. DON’T wait for "someday" to roll around.

DO start small. DON’T focus on too many things at once.

DO write it down. DON’T forget to give yourself a deadline.

DO be specific. DON’T deal in absolutes.

DO leave room for failure. DON’T expect perfection.

DO track your progress. DON’T fool yourself into failure.

DO reward your success. DON’T beat yourself up over failure.

DO find a support system. DON’T try to do it alone.

DO make a commitment. DON’T ever forget that you can do it.

Here is a link to the whole article if you are interested.

I will seriously consider my plan over the weekend. I do know that the biggest thing will be to check in here, and be part of the HH group. Hopefully, I can WIN, too. ;) And with that said....

Welcome to Healthy Habits Week 1: Let's Get Ready for the Trip!
Ready to go! :dance3:

Thank you. I'm not a particularly cake fan, but this sounds quick, easy, and fun, too.

Evening everyone!

Well, today was interesting to say the least. I've been struggling with trying to get apt made with a doctor to figure out for sure if I have PCOS. My primary doctor is fairly certain I do. I'm planning on going to my dr's office on Monday and trying to get this all straightened out. The dr they referred me to hasn't called me in 3 days and I'm getting very frustrated (as is my doctor).

Well, one of the symptoms of PCOS is no TOM. We'll I haven't had a TOM in going on over 2 years. Well, you can imagine my surprise when I went to the bathroom today and I had a little bit of a surprise (if you catch my drift). It wasn't a whole lot but enough for me to wonder and scratch my head. I'll be mentioning it to my doctor when I go back for a warfarin draw on Friday.

I took today off from exercising and just relaxed, or tried to anyway. We started a weekend tradition of going to the Grand Floridian (we live 15 minutes from Disney World) and relaxing. Well, it turns out that Alan may be coming down with a bug so we'll just relax at home this weekend. I'll get back on the exercising bandwagon tomorrow.

I hope everyone has a great weekend and make sure to get your starting weights in! :)

Yes CC weight loss does take hard work, but it also takes smarts and support. And going to your Dr to get the medical help necessary is smart. Having the support of the WISHers and the MFP'ers is also a key component to being successful.
I know you will be successful!

Fran I've found that using the computer in tandem with the app really helps to see the big picture and will help you find your way around MFP quicker. You'll get the hang of it soon!

Kristina That is an unexpected surprise. I would be really interested in knowing what the Dr says.

OK, caught up on my emails. Caught up on MFP. Caught up here.
I'm going to take DD upstairs, tuck her in and try to finish reading Marathoning for Mortals. As much as I'd like to do the full at WDW in Janauary, I think I'm going to aim for the 1/2. Really wanted the full because it's our 20th wedding anniversary and the 20th anniversary of the race, but I just don't think I'm there. Kinda bummed about that decision.

OH note to self: Email CC about organizing challenges.
We should make sure the utensil drawer is clean and clutter free so everyone can find their measuring cups and spoons.

I hope everyone has a great night. To our friends across the pond, have a great day!
I will see y'all tomorrow!
