Biggest Loser "Sizzlin' Hot" Summer Challenge

Hi all,

Sorry I haven't been around much. A lot of things are just frustrating me right now and I haven't wanted to talk about it or had the energy to talk about it. Work is busy which is both good and bad. People are tipping horribly with their Groupons and we are all disgusted at their rudeness. We have a sign stating what's on the certificates and they ignore it. It's an insult! The other massage therapist quit today. She will cover my shift Tuesday night but is done after that. We can't seem go get another one to come to work. I've contacted schools and posted messages and one of the other girls has done the same. We will have to be rescheduling a whole lot of massages over the next two months plus I need to change my hours with the school year starting. I sent my boss a long email this morning. She gets back from vacation this weekend and had better get on the phone and find someone. It's a good thing I took certain weekends off in the fall. I have to go through the schedule and see what ones we need to reschedule.

Dad is getting out of rehab on Thursday. They will be having him have PT here while he is still here. My sister flies up on August 8th and they will leave here the next morning to drive back. I have to be at work early the morning they leave so everything had better be packed.

Mom went to NY to visit friends for a few days. I will go visit Dad tomorrow. She will be back on Tuesday. She wants me to go down on Monday too but I will have to see. Ash has a drs appt and Brian is working all day and overnight cleaning out his office. He starts working from home on Tuesday. He is meeting with an old co-worker on Wednesday night for dinner to discuss going to work for him. Monday will be a long day. Tuesday I have to work all day. Wednesday Ash has a short dentist appt and then we will finish getting the house ready for Dad to come home.

Still haven't lost all the weight from vacation but I'm ok with that. Trying not to overeat and drink too much!

On a positive note, I LOVE the OLYMPICS! Glad I have that to look forward to over the next two weeks.

Thanks for listening to my complaints! I know putting them on "paper" helps sometimes so I hope you didn't mind!

Enjoy the weekend! The RED SOX are leading the YANKEES so I'm happy for that too!

TTFN :tigger:

Evening all! I think that we are all packed for vacation. Car is not loaded yet...wil do that in a.m. I've been over it in my head a few times and will leave a paper and pencil on the night table, as I'm sure I'll think of something, but as of now I think we are all packed. We all have clothes laid out for the a.m. Dishwasher was full and got run tonight, so we will eat breakfast on paper plates. I'll pack up lunch and snacks for the ride. It isn't a long trip but we will be traveling at lunch time in order to meet everyone near our destination at 1:30 p.m. And I will be able to use up the last of the bread and turkey and lettuce and apples, so the fridge will be nearly bare.

Oops... Just thought of the fishing poles! Guess we'll pull those out in the morning. Opting to skip taking any kind of beach toys or floats. Kids are getting old for that stuff and from the photos it doesn't appear that there is much beach at this location. See what the kids say in the morning. I took a bunch of floaty stuff last year and they didn't even get inflated until the end of the week....just in time to have to get deflated, wiped down, and packed up. :sad2:

Well....just thinking out loud here. I will have wifi on vacation, so I won't be totally MIA, but will try to stick to a once a day check in. TTFN.................P

I have to know, what is with the anchor? Is it a TV anchor or a nautical anchor?

Nautical anchor. I love all things nautical & considering an anchor tattoo when I reach goal. It signifies for me how weighed down I was (literally), Hebrews 6:19, and a reminder that I refuse to sink and will continue live healthy. :)

If you could meet anybody in history, who would it be? What would you ask/tell them?

Jesus Christ. I have no idea what I'll tell him, or if I'll even be able to speak. I'd like to tell him thank you for sure.

Absolutely LOVE your answers!!!

Probably the fruit cup and bottled water. I saw this a lot at AK in 2009 and assuming it's available in all the parks. 2009/AK was the last time we were at DW. I recall some big indulgences at the Main St bakery on previous trips;)

What is the healthiest snack you get at Disney? What is your guilty indulgence?

Have a great vacay:cool1::cool1::cool1: def sounds like your scale has gone wonky! Maybe new batteries or a whole new scale is needed.

The kale I love on the Whole Foods bar is a cold salad. They have a few diff cold kale salads but all are very tangy with lots of vinegar and garlic. Once I put some on a take out plate with some items from the hot bar and the greens got a little steamed on the way home. I thought the salad lost a lot of the taste and of course crispness. I need to buy some kale and fix a large salad at home:thumbsup2

I'm trying the new dis app on my iPhone & have no clue how to multi-quote :( I had about 20 ppl to reply to since I haven't been on for 4 days! Oh well, just know that even though I haven't been on, I've been thinking of everyone.

Qotd~I didn't realize there were healthy snacks at Disney :) Although, fruit is probably the healthiest. I don't have just one guilty indulgence. I have about 3 per day lol. Ice cream & cupcakes probably top the list though. And anything from Goofy's Candy Co. Yum!

------------------------------------------------

We've been busy here. Finally got everything situated with our homeowners insurance & our roof. The insurance said our whole main upper roof has wind damage & they are giving us almost $5500 to repair it. Whoohoo!! The company we are more than likely going to go with estimated $6700 so we figured with possible wood damage it would take it to $8000 max. So, we don't have to pay for the full amount. Phew. Also, we are closing in our refinancing tomorrow. Phew again!

Ok now that I've rambled...I can't remember who all I was going to reply to & what I was going to say, but I hope everyone is staying positive even during frustrating times. Sometimes this feels like a never ending journey. And it is. I know I had a couple off track days, but I am right back at it. We can do this!

And holy smokes, July is coming to a close!! I'm not ready for August or back to school :( I start back Aug 27 and my kids start Aug 29. Noooooo!!! We decided we are definitely going to do a camping trip next week. It's a good way to end our summer.

Ok. I'm off to get some housework done. I'll try to check in daily since I can do so on my phone (I'm not on my computer much in the summer). And if anyone knows how to multi-quote on the dis app on an iPhone, share your secrets!

There! I have read through many of the posts and just felt that many of us needed a good bear hug! So consider yourself hugged and a little cheering you on for a good week focused on healthy living when our lives may have a little storm brewing in them! Oh, and maybe an extra sunshine, too!!

Nice thoughts!

Fruit and/or a pickle. Almost too many guilty stuff to list... First to mind is Mickey bar nd caramel apple from the confectionery.

Haven't tried raw kale.. Always afraid it would be too fibrous. Have to look around for it.

Lots of good news with the roof! Wish we could claim wind damage because we will need a new roof in the next few years.

I can't figure out posting and quoting from the app either, so I go old school.

Good for you for getting back on track!

Enjoy your camping trip. I'd like to fit in quick trip with DS before school starts.

Howdy friends! Here on vacation....in the rain. :sad2: oh well. Beautiful house though. Sleeps 18 with 3 full baths. Normally we are a group of 21 but are missing a few this year :guilty: so we are at 17 this year. Kids have already been fishing and swimming in the rain.

We take turns making dinner so it is hard to plan the eating, but I try to always have the salad option available. Tonight was my cousin's night and it was penne plus meat sauce, garlic bread, and salad (thank goodness!). Ate lots of salad and 1 small portion of pasta with sauce, no bread.but did indulge in a beer...feeling a bit tense and thought I might be more pleasant to deal with!;)

Off to chat and play games! BBL............P

Evening, all!

Congratulations! There is something about crossing the 6-mile threshold that just brings you to the next level--think about what percentage of people can say that they can do that!!! (I'm not talking about all these fit people here at the Challenge, of course... :thumbsup2)

I totally agree - it was such a huge jump, and I was on a high for days afterward that I was able to do 7+ miles! I'm doing my 8 on Friday morning because we're going away this weekend.

Happy Birthday! It's so exciting to cross that milestone in such good shape, like you said. What are you doing to celebrate?

DH and I are going to Frederick, MD! It'll be more exciting than it sounds. ;) Bryan Voltaggio's restaurant is there, and we have chef's table reservations on Friday night. Saturday night we'll be at a restaurant owned by good friends, with some good friends of our own! In between, we'll be exploring the historic area, shopping, etc. I can't wait!

 There's one of us in every crowd!! I love my spreadsheets!! I don't know Access very well at all, but Matt's a lot more advanced than me with setting up databases--and using SQL, which I can't do at all. I'm really excited about being able to run a report and get my shopping lists without having to fish through all my cookbooks at once! Also, he's setting it up so I can search for "Soups" that use "Leafy Greens" or "Root Vegetables", or recipes that are "Easy" and "Rated over 3 stars", or recipes I made more than five times last year. Then, I can say how many servings I want and the math for the shopping lists will all be done for me! :) I'm really excited about this! :cool1:

That sounds awesome - reason enough for me to learn Access, to make something like that!

The time will come when you're just ready to start sewing! I really enjoyed using the book Stitch by Stitch, I think it's a great introduction that really gets you sewing right away, producing neat little projects, and teaching you all the other stuff as you go. I kind of had to put my sewing on hiatus, but I'm looking forward to getting into it again where I left off!

I love doing counted cross-stitch - so calming and detailed; I think it suits my perfectionist personality. :rotfl2: But the time! I have a sampler for DD5 that I've had in the works for about 4 years...so far to go. I need everything else to just go away so I can sit around with it, watching movies or something, for about a week so I can finish it. I used to stitch samples for the Susan Bates catalog when I was in high school (got the gig through my mom, who did knitting work for them), and that was great because I *had* to make time for it - I was getting paid!

Enjoy the weekend! The RED SOX are leading the YANKEES so I'm happy for that too!

Woohoo, me too! :cheer2: I'm sorry things have been so crazy and stressful - makes you want to get back on that ship, doesn't it? I hope things settle out soon, and all for the good. XO

What is the healthiest snack you get at Disney? What is your guilty indulgence?

Oooh, let's see. Healthiest snack would have to be whole fruit - I'll get a banana, which always tides me over when I'm peckish. My two biggest weaknesses are the dark chocolate caramel cookie at Karamell Kueche and the mickey head cake pop at the Main Street sweet shop (and probably other places, too) - I love the vanilla one! YUM.

That sounds so wonderful - have fun! Takes me back to summers on the lake with my aunts, uncles, and cousins...I miss those relaxing weeks away so much! Now my cousins and I are all grown up with kids of our own, and we're much more geographically scattered than we were as kids. We keep in touch well, but I miss our summers together. Have a wonderful time!

We drove back from MIL's today after picking up DD7 and DD5. They had a great week with grandma, but bedtime tonight was a disaster. They were staying up SO late at grandma's house that getting them down at anything resembling a normal time today was awful. They're doing another week with her in a couple of weeks, and I think we need to chat about their bedtime routine a bit! We're pretty lax about how things go there - it's her house, her rules, and what happens at Grandma's stays at Grandma's, but they're just too little to adjust back and forth. :( We have to be up early for their summer camp tomorrow, and I think it's going to be rough. On top of that, DD5 has a UTI (we think - preliminary analysis looks like it, and she's on an antibiotic and a cream), and so she's been having a hard time with potty accidents. She needs routine and structure more than ever while she gets healthy.

Speaking of tired...time for me to wrap up my Olympics watching for tonight (or at least move it to our bedroom and set the sleep timer!). I want to be up early to help DH with the morning routine before I do my 30-minute Galloway training run. Hope the weather cooperates!

And hope everyone's week gets off to an awesome start!

XO

My new favorite snack: Cilantro and Jalapeno Hummus from Trader Joe's with raw zucchini and carrot sticks. YUM! :lovestruc

Good MOnday morning everyone.

This teaching has been really easy but it really eats into my day. I can get a little done in the morning before I leave. When I get home I need to eat lunch but it is a late lunch and before I know I have to start dinner.

Last week we went to the zoo after I got home but the enjoyable afternoon ended with the truck blowing a tire on a major highway. Luckily we were in the right hand lane and not too far from the shoulder.

We spent Sat morning mowing my fil's lawn. His yard reminds me of all the plants at AK. My fil has never met a plant he didn't want to plant. Throw in 86% humidity we were soaked by the time we finished.

I have been nursing a bad knee. I think it just stuff floating around like the other knee and it has moved to the wrong spot because some times it is fine and other times it is off.

I also have to get ready for my trip:yay::yay::yay: I can't believe it is only a couple weeks away. Dh seemed upset that I only bought PH passes and didn't get the water park option but we can always add it on when we get there.

Off to get the day started. I will try to get on later. It should be easier. Ds1 finished his first online course for his master's and he was using our computer so that the wifi wouldn't die out.

Have a happy and healthy day.

Sorry about the knee. Hope it fixes itself !

Scary about the blowout. Glad you're all okay.

Morning friends! Up and out at 5:30 for my walk/run. The cottage is quite an open floor plan and I can hear everything  But I'm often the first one up anyhow. I made breakfast for anyone who was up when I returned.

DH has to drive DD back to southern NH for driver's ed this morning. I was going to take her but he had an errand to run, so he offered.

Not sure what is on the schedule for today, but the weather looks good, at least for today.

Off to enjoy my family time! Ttyl.............P

Aside fom walking, how else do you get exercise at Disney? Or do you have a special disney related exercise you do? For instance I have Toy Story on Wii. When I am needing exercise and a shot of Disney, I pop that in and play off the pounds.

Hi Everyone - I am back from vacation and up 2.5 lbs.. but I expected a gain so it's ok..

I start my Zumba classes this week on Tues and Thurs, 1 hour each night (4-5pm or 4:30-5:30pm).. does anyone have any advise for me as to eating on those days -- I will have Bfast around 8am and lunch is normally at noon - should I be snacking on something like string cheese and/or fruit around 3ish? I just don't want to be starving or have a full stomach where I am not used to any kinds of physical activity.. then when i get home around 6 I'll be having dinner

Thanks Michelle

I have a quick 15 minute workout I do in the hotel room. Pushups, planks, squats, lunges, etc. I can work up a good sweat in those 15 minutes. Last trip, that 15 minute x 3 days plus walking plus Expedition Everest Challenge and I came home a pound down! :thumbsup2

Crunches, squats, modified push ups, and swimming laps (weather permitting and the pool isn't crowded).

Now that we live close I'm going to start packing my dumb bells in my bag.

I really don't exercise at Disney. I figure I walk enough lol. If we are on any other vacation, I do get up early & go running. I don't have any Disney exercises. I may try to find some later, though!

------------------------------------------------

Off to close on our refinancing! I know it's not soup weather, but I have taco soup in the crockpot & made bread in the bread maker this morning. That way, we have dinner ready for when we get home & aren't tempted to go through a drive thru!

Nothing much left on the agenda today. Tomorrow I need to start hauling crap to my sister's for our garage sale this weekend. Ugh. But, I'll be happy to get rid of more stuff :)

Gotta run, have a healthy day!
