Biggest Loser "Sizzlin' Hot" Summer Challenge

I'm not big into team sports. My favorite games are board games, Wii games with the kiddos, and backyard games like corn hole and croquet.

I probably shouldn't admit this, but I love to listen to Justin Timberlake & Britney Spears when I run. When I'm at mile 3 or 4 or 5 and just want to quit, if Justin comes on & brings his sexy back...I pick up my pace :rotfl: I also have some Beastie Boys, Michael Jackson, Jay Z, Maroon 5, Lady Gaga, amongst others.

Jill

Ya know, I'm with you Jill- there is something about Britney coming over my iPod that makes me run just a little bit further. It's probably the cover of her "greatest hits" album- she has the crazy exposed stomach that's all tanned and toned and makes me jealous :lmao:I think of that and go "Yeah, I wanna look like that" even though I know it'll never happen and that picture is airbrushed within an inch of its' life!

The Braves are my 2nd team, they are kind of our home team. They are the closes pro team to us about 4 hours away. We are hoping to take my nephew to his 1st every mlb game there over the labor day holiday.

How fun!! I haven't been to an MLB game in so long. It was part of my graduation present from my mom when I graduated HS. I should plan another one soon!

Late to the thread, but I would love to join. I'm going to read entire thread with my daughter surrenders a computer. :)

Welcome!! It's great to have you here! Don't forget to PM your starting weight to Sue (dvccruiser76) and jump right on in here!

I am finally not suffering from illness. My sore throat finally went away, but of course the antibiotics gave my a yeast infection! With that going on, plus trying to get the "garden" in order, plus work, its been crazy! But i'm back, again, and i will start fresh tomorrow.

Weight loss wise things are going TERRIBLE! I CANNOT seem to find my groove. All these great habits I learned from you wonderful folks, its like i don't even care and i don't like that. i need to really sit down and figure out my priorities, but one things for sure i'm going back to calorie counting. ALSO NO MORE CANDY!

Work at the museum is just amazing, I feel so lucky that I get paid to work there. Today we had an outdoor music festival, plus water color painting, so i got to sit outside for most of the day, in between giving tours and it was almost cathartic. Yes it was busy and crazy but it was fun. Of course tomorrow I have to work at Petsmart all day which is just a bummer. I cannot wait to quit that place. It's just been way too many years, and the store is going downhill really fast, but unfortunately the museum does not give me enough hours to make this a reality.

Hope everyone is having a great week weight wise, at least better than me

Glad you're feeling better, Trina. And keeping my fingers crossed you find your groove soon!

Definitely NOT a team sports kind of person. But I do love games (cards, board games, etc), as do DH and DS (DD can take them or leave them). When DS was younger he could sit for HOURS playing board games with any willing opponent! If I NEVER play Life again, that will be fine with me!:rotfl:

I do NOT watch any kind of sports on tv or live, other than Olympic swimming (woohooo!!).... have never watched a World Series, Superbowl, etc. Couldn't care less.

HOnestly..... I PREFER to run/walk on the TM so that I can watch a movie or something (but definitely NOT the news! BORING!) I find that my mind wanders too much with just music. But if I am outside I have a combo list of some more recent hits (Katy Perry, Black-eye Peas, etc), and stuff from my high school and college years.

It's so fun to see all the different ways people like to work out on this thread. I'm the opposite of you, though. If I have a movie, I wonder too much about what's gonna happen next and focus more on THAT than the running!

Afternoon everyone!

Man, I need to get in the groove this week. Yes, I hit ONEDERLAND on Thursday but I feel like I didn't do anything exercise this past week. I need to change that this week.

Nothing much planned today. I need to get some cleaning and organizing done in my office. I also need to put some laundry away. Then at some point today I'm going to get some swimming in. We're leaving Thursday evening for Vegas and returning the wee hours of Monday morning. Monday night Alan's daughter will be here. We're hoping everything pans out between now and then. We're sort of on pins and needles due to the situation she's in right now. I'm just hoping we don't get a phone call at the last minute saying she needs to get out here sooner. I'll make it happen if it comes to that but we're not all to trusting of the guy she's with right now.

Fingers crossed she doesn't have any issues and she can just get through the rest of these 8 days.

WHOO!!! ONE-DERLAND!!!! I saw you post this a couple days ago but I'm a terrible coach and had yet to say anything. Please forgive me!! :guilty: That is really so awesome for you, Kristina, I'm so happy for you!!

Keeping my fingers, toes, arms, legs, and eyes crossed for you, Alan and his daughter!! Please keep us all posted with any news. Although with this many people sending good vibes everyone's way, I'm sure it will be good ;)

Today's "voyage" in our weight-loss and maintenance quests takes us to...
d440fe54.jpg

Voyage of the Little Mermaid!
My favorite movie when I was a little girl was The Little Mermaid. It was the only movie I would get at the video store on Friday nights! Ariel went though a lot to achieve her goals of walking on land and being with the man she loved- she changed her whole physical appearance! But she was steadfast, brave, and strong to reach her goals.

What qualities do you share with your favorite Disney character that help you reach your goals? Are you determined like Mulan? Headstrong like Belle? Crazy like Stitch?

I think I am determined and brave like Ariel, and optimistic like Duchess from Aristocats. Those qualities really help to see the big picture through to the final result for me- which will technically be a "smaller" picture for me! :thumbsup2

Can't wait to hear everyone's responses!

I just signed up for my 3rd 5K! It's in my hometown and it's a fundraiser for our new track that is being built! The organizer also is a neighbor and said I could request a number for the race! So I requested 13! I also signed the girls up for the 1 mile Fun Run! It will be Ash's 2nd and Izzie's 1st one! It's on September 23! Now just hoping that it's not as humid as last year or this morning as it was for the triathlon!

Ended up having Dunkin' Donuts for breakfast and then watched the triathlon with our neighbors. Saw several of our friends from town. It's a lot of fun rooting people on! I know how much the support means to the runners!

Just finishing up watching The American Girl movie that we recorded last night. It was ok. The lesson is always good!

Very excited for the upcoming Olympics! Hoping work won't interfere with some of the events I want to see!

Got some cleaning done today. I really need to get back on track with my eating and drinking of water! I feel like we've been home 2 weeks and we've only been home one week! Brian had to correct me earlier! I guess it's because I've hardly stopped since I've been home! 16 massages coming up this week! It's going to be a long crazy week! Just hoping the tipping improves! And it's payday on Friday!

Have a great rest of your Sunday! We really need to play some games and watch movies! It's too hot to be outside here today! Going to see my dad tomorrow and maybe do some shopping with my mom in the morning!

TTFN :tigger:

Things had gotten realy HOT here over the past week that even working out in the house was unbearable (how do they do those yoga classes in the heated rooms is beyond me!)

I agree with you. The poor little air conditioner is running like crazy and I keep it a little warmer in the house to give it an occasional break. We had a few days of the 80's, but is supposed to get back to the 90's, and the humidity is icky. The sweaty part of the exercise is the part I hate as well, and then you take a shower and have trouble drying off because of the humidity.

If you had the opportunity to travel, where would you go and what would you do?

Three things is tops right now (WDW is not travel, but a necessity ;)). Germany and other bits of Europe close by, and then Grand Canyon and Yellowstone. Grand Canyon and Yellowstone because DH and DS have never seen them; Germany because we lived there 30 years ago, and have promised DS to take him to see our old haunts after he graduates.

Hi everyone! Back from vacation, such as it was... :) We survived our cruise debacle and had a really nice week at AKV/Jambo and the parks. We're just pretty tired from everything that went down with our having to leave the Dream, and so I don't feel at all relaxed coming off of this trip. :( We're working on a do-over cruise as a Christmas gift to the girls (and us!), and I'm really looking forward to going back.
We got home on Saturday, and I was so happy to see that I maintained! I left for the cruise below my goal, and while I gained 3-4 pounds over the whole trip, I'm still just below goal. :cool1: I ate well at WDW, but I had virtually no appetite when everything hit the fan on the cruise. So I made really good food choices because I knew I *had* to eat something to keep up my energy. The insomnia I had in Nassau probably didn't help, either...

So glad your DH is better and that you were able to finish your vacation. Not very relaxing, glad you have a chance to go back. When they mentioned it on the podcast, I did not put two and two together until you wrote. It sounds like everyone stepped up and took good care of you all. Glad you are all back safely.

I traveled about the same time, came back to a thawed frig/freezer. Your house got through OK? My friend in Ashburn didn't even lose power.

I am closer to feeling better than i was yesterday! I can mostly eat solid foods again, I'm hoping my tomorrow my throat will be back to normal, than i just have to get rid of these cold sores!
I hope to do some workouts this week but im pressed for time, and i also need to go to the garden store and fix my plants somehhow. I've never planted anything, but i really wanted to, so a couple weeks ago I had two medium size pots, and in one i did some german thyme and oregano and the other some flowers and rosemary. These were already matured plant that i put in the pot, i look the other day and the rosemary and flowers have mushroms growing and are infested with flies! I look in my bag of soil which accidently got rained on and there are mushrooms growing there! Then we also planted some beans and basil in little cardboard containers (these were seeds, and they sprouted) and i looked tonight and they are infested with earwigs! I don't know what to do! So I'm going to try to go to the garden place friday or saturday and seek help!
I had some GREAT tours at work today, and one of them was a group of teachers who gave me a round of applause at the end of my tour! That just felt really great, especially since i want to be a teacher, must be doing something right. Tomorrow is 7am to 3pm at the job i hate and then spanish class. Then i get a few days off so that will be nice, but i really need to study for the Praxis. My boyfriend was getting so frustrated trying to teach me to do division last night. I havent dont diviision without a calculator since grade school. But I can read the hell out of a book, so i've got that going for me.
Allright better start winding down. its always weird being sick and then going back to the real world!

Glad you are feeling better. I hate earwigs, but do not garden so do not know how to treat an infestation. My mom has troubles with them though, and when I visit they are getting in the house. They are nasty, freak me out!

QOTDSince it's Wednesday we get to start looking forward to the weekend. What do you have on tap? any big plans? Do food and exercise play a big part in your weekend plans?
Quote of the day
you must be willing to make sacrifices at times, knowing that the outcome will be worth it.

For this weekend, I planned to really clean out our home office and see a movie with DS (Spiderman). Got quite a bit accomplished, and the movie was pretty decent. Lot of action. Next weekend we are planning a four day trip to Busch Gardens-Williamsburg. DH can't make it because of work, so we are going with friends. Not planning the food, will face it as it comes since we are going with the flow this trip. But we will get exercise, running around like crazy people!

Just downloaded the disboards app. I am so excited.

I downloaded the app too, but was kind of disappointed. We don't have WiFi at home, so I need to use 4G. It kept on telling me I did not have an internet connection, so I have been going to Safari like I usually do and pulling it up there. Seems to work better for me. I'll have to play around with it a little. I had e-ticket before, and was very disappointed with that app. This seems better than that.

I've got pictures on my camera that still need to be uploaded but all I can say is I'm glad Alan wanted me to wear my black dress. I put it on, got my make up on, and looked in the full length mirror and DAMN! you can tell I've lost weight wearing that dress :rotfl:. I FELT INCREDIBLE!! Trust me this is a big deal for me because I hardly ever feel awesome in clothes. I think that's what made the night all that more meaningful.
*****TMI ALERT*****
Well the "witch" arrived full force this morning. Now, I know this may not be a big deal to many people but for someone like me who has PCOS its HUGE. I told Alan (he'd been asking every morning if it had happened yet) and I swear to everything Holy you would of thought I told that man I won the freaking lottery :rotfl:.
We finished packing up and headed home. I got home, turned on the computer, charged up the phone, and got on the scale (weigh in day for my other BLC) and BAM! 200, on the dot!
Haven't done a whole lot today. I decided to take today off from exercising. I'm working on my water and have had a sensible day eating considering what my body is going through. I had a split second urge for chocolate so I went and refilled my water glass and started drinking it. For now the urge is gone.
Here's to hoping come Friday morning I'm in ONEDERLAND!! :cool1:

It is a great feeling when you put on those clothes and they look better or too big!
Cograts on TOM - ok, that feels odd to say that, but I totally understand where you are coming from! And great weigh-in!
I'll have to try drinking more water when I crave chocolate - I need something! Need to get a pickle out too - a dill pickle can kill chocolate cravings, I usually don't have one on hand though!

DS8 has an orthodontist appt tomorrow at 9:30 and gets his expander out. I'm sure it will be weird for him to feel the roof of his mouth again!

DS just got his out as well, and had bottom braces put on. He is glad to be free of the expander, but not happy about the lower braces. We are officially starting Phase II - the expensive phase! He needs to get teeth pulled as well, we are having our regular doctor see him Monday, see if he can do it. Will do it after we get back from Busch Gardens, hopefully he will heal on time to start cross country training beginning of August.

QOTD
So how did you do this week? What did you do right? What can you work on for next week?
Quote of the Day
there is no progress if there is no struggle
I'm trying to get adjusted to this new schedule and it's just not working. I'm tired, all I want to do is veg, and when I veg, I eat. I need to figure out some way to make this morning thing work.

Not much good last week. Went a little over my points, including my splurge points :guilty:. And only a little exercise to speak of. I have been working really hard and coming home fried. Still had a loss, but could have been better. Am going to try staying on-plan this week, although I have broke into my splurge points already, but I usually do that on the weekend. OP today though, and managed well on Friday, since the free lunch was kind of boring and I had lots of salad (really good salad though!). Here you about the veg, that is all I want to do when I come home. But I think I am more caught up at work, so it may settle down.

ONEDERLAND!!! :cool1::banana::cloud9::woohoo::dance3:
Okay, so I "technically" hit it yesterday but still!!!
Oh and I'm down 1.6 pounds for the week, even during TOM which is purely amazing!

Congrats on ONEderland! It is such a big point!

Glad Alan is finally getting to see his daughter again. Big deal!

Toy Story Midway Mania!
I've actually never gotten the chance to ride this ride- no one I'm with ever wants to wait in the line (I go with some impatient people, lemme tell ya...) but when I go in September, I WILL ride this! So my QOTD is, what are some of your favorite games? Do you like to play boards games inside, or team games outside? Are you in any leagues? Are you more of a spectator and like to watch games live or on TV?

Love TSM! Hard to ride though, we usually got FP's, but last time we were there we skipped it to FP Star Tours. And our upcoming trip, no HS. Next time we go to HS, will ride for sure. We have to do with FP though, since we are usually running for RnR as well!
I like puzzles games, play alot of them on my iPhone. For team games, I am a spectator, love college football! DH usually complains about being a football widower during Saturdays in the fall. With DS cross-country though, I may need to do some DVR'ing or finding a way to watch when we go to meets, since they are usually Saturday. I love a live game when I can get to one, the Sooners will be in West VA in November.
Looking forward to the Olympics. Love a lot of those sports, have always enjoyed Track & Field, and now DS is doing it as well!

What are some of your favorite songs to play during your workout? Do you listen to music during your workout, or plug in your headphones to the local news?

Anything with a good beat. I have not set up a selection of songs yet, but I need to set up an exercise playlist. But when I walk I can listen to any of my songs and when I exercise at home, it is usually with the Wii. If i get a treadmill, I will probably want some upbeat songs or listen to my podcasts.

What qualities do you share with your favorite Disney character that help you reach your goals? Are you determined like Mulan? Headstrong like Belle? Crazy like Stitch?

This is hard, since my favorite character is Bambi! I have not suffered hardship to the degree that he did.
I like Rapunzel though as well. She is determined to achieve her dream, but childlike as well. I am determined, but sometimes life gets in the way of feeling like a child again! Occasionally!

********************************************************
Had a busy week at work. My boss had a new baby so he was out part of the week, but I had expense reports pile up and it was taking forever to get through them all, and everyone seemed to be calling for assistance. I did get a star (reward for hard work) and flowers from a coworker I assisted however! I really enjoy helping them out when they get frustrated with the online expense report system. But I went home fried and exhausted each day, but I think I am caught up now. Hopefully a quiet week going into the trip.

DS got bottom braces put on. He does get to not wear his mask for a while now, until we get his four teeth pulled, so he is enjoying that break. He runs on and off, not as often as we should to stay conditioned, but he will start full-time training the 1st of August. Never dealt with cross-country before, but is the same coach, so should not be too different.

Saw Spiderman today. Pretty good remake. Gwen was his girlfriend in the original comics, but ended up dying. Marvel was purchased by Disney, so thought this was their take on it, but did not see the Disney logo come up at anytime.

Other than that, regular summer, too hot for me. This time of year I wish I lived in Northern Minnesota or Northern Maine. Although I heard that the NW is pretty cool as well. I am looking forward to the park this weekend, but not the heat we might run into.

Well, need to get dinner on and then pack for next weekend. I won't have much time this week, and we leave Saturday morning, want to get a good nights sleep before, so don't want to be packing then. I am, unfortunately, pretty close to where I was in April, so I can still wear those shorts and swimsuit. I had hoped to buy carry on luggage and try to fit in four days in one suitcase as a dry run for November (we don't want to bother checking luggage), but haven't had the time to really decide what to buy.

Hope everyone has a great rest of the weekend and week!

Carol :goodvibes

We just got home from eating dinner at Chilis and grabbing some Dunkin Donuts for in the morning. I got my bathroom cleaned, my desk somewhat cleared off and situated, and a ton of paperwork shredded. Alan got the closet cleaned out in the bedroom where his daughter is going to be staying. I need to go through the dresser and make sure the drawers are cleaned out. I need to get all this cleaning and organizing done considering we won't be home the weekend before she gets here. I need to sit down and make a TO DO list cause Lord knows I'll forget something, it never fails.

I'm going to let my food settle and go swim some laps. Its been a gorgeous day here in central FL!

Disney owns marvel but does not own the rights to the spiderman movies. Before Disney bought marvel marvel was losing money (a lot of it) so began selling rights to the movies. Sony owns the rights to the spiderman movies. The reason this movie got made is per the contract Sony would have to make a movie every few years or the rights would be put back up for sale. So hence you have a "reboot" of a franchise that wasn't old enough to be rebooted. So long story short, that's why there is no disney logo, because they had nothing to do with the film! The politics of the movie industry! Haha

Same reason Fantastic Four is getting a reboot and Daredevil may be as well.

Hi -

I wanted to post a picture of my new Merrell flip-flops (as recommended by a few BLs). Today was my first day wearing them, so it is just a little too soon to see how they help with my plantar fasciitis. I'll keep you posted.

ry%3D400

I also took the plunge and bought a bicycle. Here it is:

ry%3D400

It was on sale at Target (already assembled) for $129. I used my Target Redcard and got 5% off.

Now comes the hard part - I have to learn how to ride it. :rotfl2:

I could barely ride a bike when I was a kid, and don't think I even know how to anymore. I do, however, live across the street from an elementary school schoolyard - so I'm going to practice there (away from the public eye!!).

Any tips??? :confused3

Hi everyone:wave2:

I'm new to this thread, but not the challenge. I was on team mickey years ago but have gone astray. I just need some motivation and a bit of accountability. I look forward to getting to know everyone.

Happy Monday morning friends! Here I sit at McDonald's enjoying a $1 cup of decaf and their free wifi while DD is at driver's ed.

She had a great swim weekend and achieved PB times in 6 out of 7 races, including a time trial in her 50 M freestyle. That being said, their hope for a Y Nationals relay is a no go at this point. Disappointing.

I myself had a small NSV last night and managed to avoid a much craved late evening snack. I was truly a bit hungry but mostly just craving a sweet after a late dinner. But I made myself leave the kitchen and not return. DD made me a late cup of decaf green tea to sip and I ended the day right on target for Points!

I'll pop on later when I am home to see how everyone is doing. TTYL.........P

I could barely ride a bike when I was a kid, and don't think I even know how to anymore. I do, however, live across the street from an elementary school schoolyard - so I'm going to practice there (away from the public eye!!).

Any tips??? :confused3

- Laura

Oh that bike is soooo cute!!!

Let's see....tips...... wear a helmet!!!

Make sure the seat is the right height. When you pedal your knees don't come up into your chest. But while sitting on the seat you should still be able to touch the ground. DH said that when you are on the pedals, and the pedal is down towards the ground, your knee should still be slightly bent.

Learn the brakes before getting on the bike. My brother broke his collarbone a few years ago when he was learning how to ride because he expected the brakes to be "pedal backwards" like all kid bikes, but his had brake levers on the handles.

A lot of it is about balance. Make sure your butt is centered on the seat.

Hi everyone:wave2:

I'm new to this thread, but not the challenge. I was on team mickey years ago but have gone astray. I just need some motivation and a bit of accountability. I look forward to getting to know everyone.

WELCOME!!!!!!!

This is hard, since my favorite character is Bambi! I have not suffered hardship to the degree that he did.
I like Rapunzel though as well. She is determined to achieve her dream, but childlike as well. I am determined, but sometimes life gets in the way of feeling like a child again! Occasionally!

Carol :goodvibes

Bambi can be totally legit- he had perseverance and whimsy. You need those to make it, for sure!

Hi -

I wanted to post a picture of my new Merrell flip-flops (as recommended by a few BLs). Today was my first day wearing them, so it is just a little too soon to see how they help with my plantar fasciitis. I'll keep you posted.

I also took the plunge and bought a bicycle. Here it is:

Cute shoes! And learning how to ride a bike is (forgive the expression, but...) like riding a bike! But Buffy has the most important tip- don't forget your helmet!!!

Your races sound like so much fun! Be sure to post pictures of you at the finish line!!

So my QOTD is, what are some of your favorite games? Do you like to play boards games inside, or team games outside? Are you in any leagues? Are you more of a spectator and like to watch games live or on TV?

I like to play things like Tetris & Solitare on electronic devices. I like to play cards with family/friends. I enjoy volleyball, although haven't played in a LONG time! I love to watch my children in any sport. I will watch basketball & soccer on television, but much prefer live games. Go Portland Trailblazers, Portland Timbers & US Womens Soccer!

What qualities do you share with your favorite Disney character that help you reach your goals? Are you determined like Mulan? Headstrong like Belle? Crazy like Stitch?

One of my favorite characters is Mary Poppins. She is determined & gets a job done, while having fun. I am determined and yet enjoying myself throughout this process. Another favorite character is Snow White. She is sweet, innocent, beautiful, hard-working. I am working hard at this and the outcome is to be more beautiful physically.

Afternoon everyone!

Man, I need to get in the groove this week. Yes, I hit ONEDERLAND on Thursday but I feel like I didn't do anything exercise this past week. I need to change that this week.

WOOOHOOOOO!!! Congratulations!!

Today's "voyage" in our weight-loss and maintenance quests takes us to...

Voyage of the Little Mermaid!

All of the above??? :confused3

Not sure I can say I have just ONE favorite Disney character. I love Buzz for believing he was a real SUPER HERO! He believed he could do ANYTHING. And after losing nearly 90 pounds and keeping them off, sometimes I feel like I could do anything!

Can't comment on the shoes.... never tried them. But the pedicure is pretty!

I agree with starting in the school yard... somewhere flat and straight without much of an "audience" around. You'll be less self-conscious. I agree with Buffy...wear a helmet!! Be sure that the bike is adjusted well for you. You're leg shouldn't go straight when full extended with the pedal down....you should still have a bit of a bend to the knee... about 20 degrees I think. And NEVER, EVER use JUST the front brake. You can go flying over the handle-bars, head over heels.

Hi everyone:wave2:

I'm new to this thread, but not the challenge. I was on team mickey years ago but have gone astray. I just need some motivation and a bit of accountability. I look forward to getting to know everyone.

Welcome back! We are glad to have you here with us!! Introduce yourself and jump right in!

**************
Things are quiet on here lately! But that's okay... hopefully it means that everyone is out having summer fun!

Did one outdoor project after lunch and came in DRIPPING with sweat and now I have a headache. :rolleyes2 Oh well... at least it got done.

Lunch was a bit of a hodge podge of leftovers and such, but everyone got something and the fridge is a bit cleaner! I've got a pork loin in the crockpot for pulled pork sandwiches tonight. Just need to whip up some of my special low sugar bbq sauce for DH's portion. I'll splurge and have a bit of the "real" stuff with mine. :thumbsup2

Two more things I absolutely MUST finish up today, so I'm gonna fly! TTYL.....P

It is raining cats and dogs here. I got some strength training in and going to do cardio after dinner tonight. We're having burgers with leftover deviled eggs and macaroni salad. I need to finish up organizing under my bathroom sink. Alan cleaned my bathroom for me. I also need to get clothes organized and in my drawers of my dresser. He also vacuumed earlier and got the kitchen cleaned up. Sarah's room is ready to go. The closet and dresser are cleaned out and the bed is made.

TRACEY -- Congrats on signing up for a 5K! I've always wanted to do one but I need to lose some more weight. I tried doing the C25K but just the little bit of running killed my knees.

OUGRAD -- I've never been to Yellowstone or the Grand Canyon and think that would be incredible places to visit

What are some of your favorite songs to play during your workout? Do you listen to music during your workout, or plug in your headphones to the local news?

It has to have a good beat to it! I actually have a workout play list that varies from KISS, Aerosmith, Kenny Chesney, to the Black Eyed Peas. It really just depends on my mood. My most recent favorite is Kenny Chesney's new album. I finally got it onto my IPOD earlier today and was cleaning house while jamming out to it.

Laura -- Your new flip flops look comfy. Good luck learning to ride a bike! I haven't rode one in years. Alan keeps talking like he wants to get me one but I prefer a stationary bike that I'm not prone to falling off of, :).

:wave2: Bungle!

Evening Dear Friends!:goodvibes

I survived my weekend with the in-laws and even managed to lose 1 pound which I promptly reported to Sue this morning. I am sitting at the public library waiting for DS to finish soccer camp. He has it every night this week from 5:30-8:30. He is trying out for the HS team this year but there are only 30 spots (JV&Varsity) and 100 boys trying out. I've tried to discuss the odds realistically with him but not be too discouraging. It seems like everything we try to do there are always so many people trying for so few slots. Even at school he has a 3.8 GPA and is # 187 in his class ranking!

Good Morning Losers!!!!

My name is Kaiti and I am going to be your coach for the next week!!

First, I want to say a huge thank you to Buffy for coaching last week. You always do an awesome job! Second, be sure to send your weight to Sue so she can keep track of your goals, and where you are on the Top 10 List :thumbsup2

This week, we're going to be visiting one of my favorite parks....

800px-Sorcerers_Hat_at_Disneys_Hollywood_Studios_by_eddison_moreno.jpg

Disney's Hollywood Studios!!!

I love this park. It has some of my favorite attractions! But the one I am most excited about riding the next time I visit in September is...
100_5262.jpg

Toy Story Midway Mania!

I've actually never gotten the chance to ride this ride- no one I'm with ever wants to wait in the line (I go with some impatient people, lemme tell ya...) but when I go in September, I WILL ride this! One of the reasons I'm so excited to ride this is because I love games. They're something I've learned to love since I've lost weight-I am not so self-conscious about how silly I look on the field as "the big girl". In fact, I recently joined a kickball league and we played our first game this past Tuesday!

So my QOTD is, what are some of your favorite games? Do you like to play boards games inside, or team games outside? Are you in any leagues? Are you more of a spectator and like to watch games live or on TV?

I'll be back late tonight with responses!

Love this question! I have never played team sports but love to watch my son play and he has played everything I think. I love to watch almost all sports, live or on TV. I was a majorette with the marching band in HS so sorta like a team:confused3. I love love love cards, board games and puzzles like Buffy. Not into electronic games or Wi and no more puzzles with the kitties now.

We're off to Rockin' Rollercoaster today!!
6aa891aa.jpg

This is one of my absolute favorites at any park- an indoor roller coaster with turns and inversions and spins and one of the coolest themes ever. And one of the best parts about it is the music!! Music is a huge motivating factor for me during a workout (or anything, really!)

What are some of your favorite songs to play during your workout? Do you listen to music during your workout, or plug in your headphones to the local news?

I love to run to fast, upbeat songs, but not really anything by Aerosmith, haha. One of my favorites is Flo Rida, and I love David Guetta. Anything related to hip-hop is good with me! But it's funny, I don't like to listen to it when I'm not working out. Maybe my brain makes the connection between that kind of music and exercising and rejects it when I'm not wearing the right shoes, lol!

I also love hip hop for exercise, also pop or top 40 type songs. I love that song "titanium" right now!

I think I am crazy like Stitch.....fell off the wagon a few months ago and can't get my head back to the place it was. I have finally stopped gaining and feel like that is under control. Now, to actually lose some!!!

Katrina, congrats on reaching ONEder land!

Pamela, your daughter is doing great! I am really looking forward to the Olympics!! You asked me awhile back about mt PT job. I am a property/casualty underwriter for an insurance company. Lots of detailed work, lots of paperwork, lots of phone calls and emails. I think it would be a little similar to a Mortgage Und.

Have a great evening all! I know this is not really healthy but wondering if I can make it with no supper tonight? I am not feeling super hungry and it's well past the time I usually eat. Going to read a few pages of my book (3rd book in the SOG trilogy) and then go pick up DS.

Biggest Loser "Sizzlin' Hot" Summer Challenge Week 6!
This week’s group loss = 22.8 pounds!
Average percentage of weight lost 0.33 %
Total group weight loss so far 179.3 pounds!

AWESOME!

Retention Rate (compared to the 58 participants we had sign up for our start week on June 1st)
76% (this includes the Losers, Maintainers and Excused people!). Let's keep sending those weights people!

Before the weekly superstar list comes the disclaimer. I am human and I make mistakes. If you have any questions please contact me. For your reference this is the magic percentage of weight lost formula - weight loss for the week divided by weight for last week times 100, that gives us the percentage. Now let me test that with my numbers for week 1, click, click, click goes the calculator. Yes, that agrees with the percentage on the magic spreadsheet. (btw if its been more than 1 week between weigh-ins, then the % loss is divided by the number of weeks, to keep everybody on the same basis)

Now let's get to the good stuff. Who were our superstars of week 6?

NOW FOR THOSE OF US WHO SET A GOAL FOR THE CHALLENGE!!!

NOTE: This list includes participants who have reported in within the last 3 weeks, once someone misses 3 weigh-ins they are dropped from this report.

How this works: You set your goal for what you want to lose in the challenge. Then I calculate your weight loss in the challenge divided by your goal to get a % to goal.

Anybody can change their goal at anytime (or add a goal) – all you have to do is send me a PM.

Since the goals are an individual thing, the list is just in alphabetical order to make it easier for everybody to find their own name. If there are any questions or suggestions please let me know.

We have done 6 out of 13 weeks, so the challenge is 46% complete.

What qualities do you share with your favorite Disney character that help you reach your goals? Are you determined like Mulan? Headstrong like Belle? Crazy like Stitch?

I don't really have a favorite Disney character. I like them all lol. I will say that to reach my goals, I am pretty determined.

DS already had braces on top and bottom, so getting the expander out was a big deal lol. We are still in phase 1 and I am hoping we don't need phase 2! Yikes! Tell DS good luck at CC training. My nephew started conditioning this week (9th grade but he ran in junior high).

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I don't have much to report tonight. I did really, really good with my points yesterday and today so I am motivated to keep going. I bought a treat for myself if I do good throughout the day. I bought Great Value brand (Walmart brand) pineapple sherbet. It's 3 weight watchers points for 1/2 cup. It is so yummy! And, I measured out that stinking 1/2 cup! I just picture myself sitting on the Poly beach, eating a dole whip, and watching Wishes :)
I'll check in tomorrow. I'm going to watch a movie with DH. Good night all.
Jill
