Biggest Loser Show Chit Chat Thread

I think that they need to start that way to kick these people into shape. I think if you start out all mushy and lovey and warm and fuzzy, these contestants will be complacent. They NEED to have their butts kicked! And Jillian and Bob are the people to do it!

There's a difference between tough and nasty, and I thought Jillian went too far.

There's a difference between tough and nasty, and I thought Jillian went too far.

ITA, but she honestly didn't seem any tougher or nastier than she has in the past on BL or on her own show this summer. I've always felt that she takes that "tough love" approach a bit too far. Bob is still tough as nails, but isn't quite as nasty...............P

The message I'm taking from this week's show is that I could totally push myself harder, I really could. I've grown complacent because I put up one decent run a week and a few smaller ones, but I definitely could be more "on" in my food choices and more proactive in my portions. Of course, I'm home sick today, so anything I say may be a result of being heavily medicated...still, I did like the new elimination format, I hope they keep it. I thought Jillian seemed to be taking pleasure in their misery, and that I did not like.

I've watched the show for several seasons. I agree that I think Jillian has gotten meaner the last couple of seasons. Bob did it a few seasons earlier. I normally DVR it then fast forward through large sections of the show. I thought the yellow line twist was pretty good. I wonder if it will be all season or just for the first couple of weigh-in's.

Sounds like they will have the yellow line twist for at least one more week -- but then who knows? They were supposed to have Marines and they haven't shown up yet! :lmao:

I don't know if anyone is meaner than they have been in the past. I do know I think there is way too much barfing IMHO.

I don't know, I really like Jillian the way she is. This is only the third season I've watched, but she isn't any different this time around than she has been the past two seasons. And not any different than she was on her show this summer. I would have loved someone like Jillian yelling at me and telling me what I needed to hear when I was at my heaviest - heck, I'd still welcome it today. These people need a reality check! I guess it goes back to what I said before about how they put so much hope in being on the show. I mean if they had the motivation to lose weight or be healthier without someone like Jillian (or even Bob, even though he is "nicer" he still tells it like it is) they obviously wouldn't be where they are. I'm sure they all had well meaning people in their lives, doctors, spouses, etc. gently asking them to lose weight, but they didn't listen. They also didn't listen to their bodies getting unhealthier and weaker as the weight piled on. If they aren't listening to their friends, families, doctors, or their own bodies, there really isn't much left to do but yell at them! Plus, her approach has been successful - someone from her team has won almost every season so far. Even if you don't like her personality, you have to admit she adds interest to the show and she gets her job done.

Now, where are my Marines?!?!? :rotfl:

Bree

I so fully agree:

WHERE are the Marines??

And furthermore:

Why so much barfing?

Seriously - there is way to much puking on TV these days. Do they really think people want to SEE that? I don't even want to see someone gagging, when it comes down to it. It's gross. And what else was gross -- that one guy who ended up with snot on his face during the workout - yeah, I know, it happens, and he just has to push through, but do they really have to show that? Ewww.

And I will come out with a spoiler...

I don't think it's right that they eliminated Allie who had had the surgery as a child. I mean, clearly, she's doing OK on her own at this point, but still. I couldn't believe her mom wouldn't help her. Thank goodness for Danny - that man is amazing. Did you see that in the writing under her "now" picture, it said that she is "speaking to her mom again"? More power to her, I say.

Also, I don't envy Dr. H - the number of wake-up calls that man has to give at the start of each season! Of course he also gets to give amazing news later in the season, usually.

You know what was great, though, was seeing Elizabeth (with the asthma) do well in one of the foot races!

Also, interesting in the race was the little dustup between Jessica and Burgundy. I guess I'm kind of on Jessica's side with that one - they aren't really "lanes" that they were running in - if you are on the side, how are you going to get the flag in the middle unless at some point you manage to get ahead of someone and move inwards, right?

I think I always like Bob more at the start of the season. I get to like Jillian more when it gets to the point where the people are somewhat conditioned and her pushing them like crazy doesn't seem quite so brutal. I am glad that Bob and Jillian are working more as a team these days and less at odds with each other. They're obviously friends at this point, so it makes sense they wouldn't want to be "rival trainers" on the show so much.

Is it OK to throw in talk about some other TV shows on here? Anyone watching Mike & Molly? Did anyone watch Huge over the summer? I'd love to hear thoughts. :)

Finally got to watch last night.

The puking, well, remember Tara from a few seasons back? She was still puking in week 8 or 9.

I see Brendan being Bob's "special project" cause I think Bob sees something in him that could make him the winner. Bob really pushed him. I didn't think Jillian was any worse than she usually is, that is her style and it works. There were some people you didn't even see really, like Ada or Burgandy.

The foot race, well, I agree there aren't any lanes, don't get your knickers in a twist cause she elbowed you. Burgandy would have done the same thing I think.

Next weeks preview looked interesting, does Tina really want to quit and go home? That would really be sad, since Allie got eliminated and then Tina throws away her chance. We shall have to wait and see.

And yeah, where are those Marines??

Week 3 and still no Marines!!?? Talk about a tease!!

Last night's show was good, but not life changing. I was totally pissed that Tina was ready to go home just a few hours after talking everyone into saving her and sending Allie home. But she pulled herself together I guess (but too late!!)

The tennis part cracked me up.... although that girl was beautiful! Brendan was so funny about hugging her too long! :rotfl:

I hated that they combined a nice serious talk between Bob and Tina with a "product placement" for those Yoplait smoothies. It made the chat seem SO STAGED! Thumbs down for that....................P

I enjoyed last night's show, and I was glad Jillian wasn't there for the first grueling workout! I wasn't happy to see the male alliance so early in the season.

I am glad Aaron got saved this week. He seems like he's very quiet and that the lightbulb really went on for him this week. If he's determined, he could be pulling big numbers every week.

I don't like the alliance either. I think they are all in it for the money more than for themselves. I hope I'm wrong.

I'm glad to see Tina's doing well at home, and I can't believe she made the cut rather than her daughter. Seems to me that her daughter needed the ranch more than her.

When (and how) do you think they'll bring in the other contestants who came in last in the first show?

I was frustrated by a lot of last night's show. I have a feeling that people are trying to get on the show now just to win the prize(s) - as opposed to really wanting to lose the weight/be healthier/etc. Which ties in with the whole, "I can only lose weight if I'm on BL" mindset that I mentioned after the first show - maybe it's really "I have no desire to be healthier and lose weight unless I get to be on TV/someone's going to pay me and/or give me an endorsement deal to do it/etc." Here are the other things that really peeved me off last night...

Firstly - NO MARINES AGAIN!?!?! And no mention of them in the preview for next week either?

Secondly - Tina, ugh. Who the hell takes money out of their 401k for a vacation? And then signs up for and goes on a game show? And then begs to stay instead of someone who really wants to be there? And then tells everyone in the house the very next day that she wants to go home? Ugh. Just too much stupidity there for me to have any compassion for her at all. I am infinitely glad she went home last night. And Lisa, ugh again - I mean really, your kid almost starved/dehydrated herself to death to avoid becoming obese like you and you make the comment that you'd rather go home and take care of Allie whom you've known for what, two weeks, instead of losing the weight and learning healthy habits at the ranch to take home to your kids? Think before you speak next time, OK?

Thirdly - Why, oh why didn't the girls band together during the tennis challenge after getting Tina out so they could keep the faster or heavier guys from getting immunity? This is a competition after all and you girls are doing so poorly on the scale, why wouldn't you give yourselves an advantage? Burgundy was the only one who had the right idea - although, obviously she should have been more discreet with the suggestion!

Fourthly (I don't think that's a word, but oh well) - The girls in general. During the circuit training it looked like the majority of the girls were skating when Bob wasn't working with them - um, you guys were (almost) all under the yellow line last week, step it up already!

Lastly - Frado, Patrick, and Brenden. I liked Frado before last night. He seemed compassionate, he was obviously concerned about Elizabeth at the try out challenge, and even called Tina out for being selfish at the beginning of last night's show which I admired. But then, the "secret alliance meeting" and only 3 pounds lost (screams thrown weigh in to me) changed my mind. I'm not a fan of that kind of game play - I think it undermines the reason they are all there to begin with. HELLO, you are all morbidly obese and suffering from various obesity related illnesses - if someone falls below the yellow line then maybe they need to go home regardless of who they're friends with because they didn't work hard enough to stay.

Anyways, I'm obviously less than thrilled so far this season. I hope they show the Marines soon or I may just give up on this season all together!

Don't forget, this is a GAME SHOW.... and it isn't always about who NEEDS to lose the weight or how much weight they have to lose... it is about PERSONALITIES.... who is going to create more conflict or garner more sympathy.... in other words... WHO WILL KEEP THE RATINGS UP???? Sad but true.

The bolded part..... AMEN!!! You took the words right out of my mouth!! I was FLOORED!! I also agree almost everything else you said.... but don't give up on the Marines! I'm sure they'll make it sooner or later!!

Finally watched this week's show -- I agree, the ladies seemed like they were phoning it in, and not using any "girl power" strategy! :confused3

I wouldn't mind seeing some Marines...:magnify:

I wasn't very impressed with either Tina or Lisa -- clearly they are or were in some level of denial, because those ladies needed every moment they could get at the Ranch. I think Lisa likes the idea of "taking care" of Allie because then she can avoid taking care of herself. It's a shame she can't know that Danny's got her covered -- i.e. there's not reason not to focus on you for yourself and your family.

I think Fredo admitted he threw the weigh in when he made a comment about having to use the advantage when you have immunity. :headache:

I liked the brass ring because it was really random -- no advantage if you're a man or a woman.

I'm looking forward to next week's show.

Maria :upsidedow

I thought the episode was OK. I didn't care for the elimination challenge. Yes it was a lot of work, but it was also a lot of luck.

Finally got to watch tonight.

Lisa and Tina- uhh, HELLO, are you two for real? I would have slapped Tina for letting them send Allie home then the very next day saying she wanted to go home. And Lisa, sweetie, you got bigger issues if your kid starved herself so that she didn't become like you. You need to stay.

The boys and their alliance, well you knew it had to happen. I think there may be some folks who can fly under the radar that those 3 boys haven't thought about. Like Ada. You hardly ever see her. She reminds me of Kae from a few seasons back. Gotta watch out for those quiet ones.

And yeah, where are the Marines gosh durned it? Though I did see one in person today at the expo for my race tomorrow. He was yummy, sadly, I am probably old enough to be his mother:rolleyes1

Anna Kournikova, well she is a hottie, they boys were distracted. Too bad she didn't hang around while they did the challenge. The girls might have had a shot.:rotfl: The elimination was more luck than skill.

Looking forward to next weeks show.

Watched it online last night (shh don't tell DD, I will watch it with her this weekend). The game is afoot already:headache: Its sad that there are "players" already. I am hoping that the boys get a comeuppance soon.

The temptation? Eh, wouldn't have done anything for me, but the prize was quite interesting. Next week should be fun, with some old faces making an appearance.

Jillian must not have been feeling well, because she wasn't so nasty this week!

This week was definitely the best prize ever, but I think it was better to let it go and not get started eating those cupcakes!

Is there are romance brewing between Brendan and Ada, or did I imagine that?

Um, did I miss the Marines?

Maria :upsidedow

After tomorrow's show I will be three weeks behind. :sad2: After reading these comments maybe I don't need to worry about catching up! ;)
