Biggest Loser Show Chit Chat Thread

Thanks for bumping this thread! :flower3:

I am a little behind in watching the episodes but saw who the finalists are online. Maybe I will feel a little more excited about this group when I see the marathon episode since I am doing the Princess in February? princess:

I'm hoping that Ada wins. I'm not liking any of the other three myself. I'm amazed that Elizabeth, who fell below the yellow line just about every single week, managed to stick it out until the bitter end. :confused3

Question:

Why do they start the beginning of the competition shirtless or in a sports bra at weigh in, but then when they have lost 100+ lbs they weigh in - in t-shirts?
I'm not really interested in seeing them topless.... I just think I would rather be seen in a sports bra AFTER I lost 70-100lbs rather then before.:)

Any ideas?

My guess the producers don't want their now fit contestants with loose skin around their midsection. I think I read somewhere that at the final show, several people where compression garments under their clothes to give a smoother appearance to their bodies.

I think Jeremy has a point -- with losing all that weight so quickly they have to have lots of loose skin.

I hope that Ada makes it to the finals. I can't believe Elizabeth made it as far as she has considering that she hasn't worked as hard as she could have -- the alliance and game playing really helped her.

I guess the finale is tonight now that I think of it -- I've lost my enthusiasm so much for the show it didn't even register until now. :rotfl:

I think Elizabeth made it to the finals because she wasn't considered a threat to anyone. Watch out...that's how Helen won a few seasons back!

I think that you are absolutely right, Nancy! :thumbsup2

Warning! I am going to type the names of the winners in white in case people haven't had a chance to see the show so be careful if you don't want to know who won. You can see the white name by highlighting that "blank" area.

I guess that I am glad that Patrick won but probably less excited than I would be normally because of all the game playing. I was very happy that Ada won the vote (that shouldn't be a surprise) by an overwhelming response. And I'm glad that Mark won the at home prize. I haven't figured out if he would have been the Biggest Loser if he had not been sent home. I hope not because that would make me a little annoyed that he didn't win because of the game players -- one of whom looked like they didn't lose all that much weight once they left.

Did anyone see the preview of Season 11? There are two new trainers as well as Bob and Jillian. Makes me wonder if Bob is leaving, too, at the end of the season as well as Jillian. I would miss Bob much more than Jillian.

Does anyone else feel like the show jumped the shark this season? It looks like they are trying to shake things up for the next round. It will be interesting to see if they make it better or make it worse! :confused3

Continuing with the potential spoiler. Yes Mark would have one the whole thing had he not been eliminated. Patrick was the second highest overall. This was in impressive season for the at home players. According to wikipedia 6 contestants lost over 40% of their body weight and another 6 had weight loss in the 30%'s. Also, everyone lost weight while at home.

I know Shay decided not to run the NYC marathon. She decided she wan't prepared enough to do it.

Thanks. But for another $50K, I would have walked the entire thing. :rotfl2:

I forgot about Shay!!!:confused3 That just goes to show you how hard it is to lose weight - even when $50,000 is on the table !!!

As for the finale, 4 at-home contestants had higher percentage of weight loss than the 3 finalists!! The real BL was the one who won the at-home contest. All 4 of the actual highest losers seemed to me to be very nice, decent people.

There was too much game play this season, IMO. Those poor people don't need that on top of everything else they go through. I wish the person with the highest percentage of weight loss, even if they get sent home, would win the biggest prize. It only seems fair.

Thanks for the link to the stats on Wiki!! -- look at them again, the winner was actually not the second higest, they were the fourth highest in total percentage of weight, and almost in fifth place! Does not seem fair to me that they won all the $$$ :confused3

I know I think it's kind of sad. :sad2:

I think we can declare that it's okay to say names by now -- surely most people have found out who won by now.

It will be interesting to see how things go with the new season. So far the contestant interviews I've seen seem to have more likeable people -- hopefully they learned something from watching a season of game playing.

Be sure that you all join us on our virtual holiday party BL thread! :santa:

It really would be interesting if they made it an overall 1st Prize, 2nd Prize, and whether someone was sent home or not, they could win it. How would people vote differently? Of course I wish they'd have a season where they didn't eliminate anyone along the way, but where would be the drama, the pleading, the backstabbing then, right? :sad2:

Patrick did look great in the end, and it's nice that he won, since he doubtless can use the money. Even nicer to hear that he'd found a job - the show has been a blessing to him in more ways than one, that is for sure.

Next season should be very interesting. We didn't actually get to SEE the new trainers, did we? Just the dancing shadows. Strange.

I'm glad they're back to couples again, and I enjoyed this show more than the first show last season.

Me, too, and the show is doing so much game playing with "The Unknowns" that the contestants don't have to pick up the slack! :rotfl:

Holy Cow! I wish they would have shown more of the weigh ins and training for the unknowns because they apparently kicked some serious butt.

I haven't even finished the episode just yet, BUT I have to wonder....if you were on this season of BL and had the choice to make, which would you have choosen? It was interesting to look at Bob and Jillian and see that they thought the people who chose them instead of the 4 weeks were probably not making the wisest choice. Sooo pragmatic, those two!

But so true! What a way to start your BL training with your trainer saying "You are crazy for picking us!" right off the bat.

I would have picked immunity even with the unknown, especially the first season because you know they have something to prove, because four weeks on the ranch guaranteed is a really, really good carrot!

I'm guessing the actual filming of this first episode was before any of the announcements about Jillian leaving, introducing new trainers. With all the BL game play and twists the producers throw in, I wouldn't be convinced I was getting a trainer at all. Wouldn't it be an awful promo if your "trainer" for the 4 weeks of immunity was a Biggest Loser game for Kinect? However, since we as an audience knew they'd be replacing trainers, the drama was kind of lost. Obviously the show isn't going to introduce lame trainers.
In the end, I think the immunity would have been tempting enough, that I would have picked the unknowns. Yes, I would have gone to the ranch wanting to work with Bob or Jillian, they always switch up the trainers at some point, so you'd likely have a chance to work with them after your 4 weeks immunity.

As some others have said, I think I'm going to like this season better than last. I never really got attached to anyone last season. The girls' numbers were always disappointing and many guys were gamers. I did like Ada though.

I thought it was weird that we didn't get to see the "other" weigh in.

I am liking this season still after week number 2. The team competition things seems to have squelched the game playing. It may rear its ugly head later.

I am glad that they are revealing the new trainer next week -- although apparently people know who they are by the buzz in the internet -- so we can see a little more of the workouts and know the other teams better.

I am also intrigued by whatever happens at next week's weigh in. :confused3

I'm also enjoying this season quite a bit. Given the choice, I probably would have also gone with the unknowns. Being guarenteed 4 weeks would be pretty hard to give up. I would like to see more of the unknowns as well.
