Biggest Loser PURPLE Team -Official Week 7 (Oct 18 - 24)

My week 6 weigh in was a loss of 1.8 pounds :) YAY! Really wanting to break that 2 or 3 pound a week mark though....here's hoping for next week!

RatPack-I was hoping for a 2lb/week loss also so I was dissapointed in my small losses until I took out a calulator and found out if I just average 1.5 lbs a week I'll lose 38lbs by my next WDW trip! Slow and steady wins the race!

When I saw this I thought of the team and thought it really simplified the 5/day concept! I've been getting my five veggies but not across the spectrum like that.

Well water is usually not a problem since that is pretty much all I drink. Well, that and coffee! But TOM is here too so I'm sure that has something to do with it.

Thank you for the warm welcome. Is there anyway someone can post the link to the clippie so I can add it to my siggie? I had an awesome weigh in at WW last night... I usually weigh in on Sat mornings but we are going away this weekend. We are going to the Great Wolf Lodge in the Poconos. My kids are so excited because they have an indoor waterpark that stays open until 10 every night. I am excited because they have a spa and a fitness room... did I just say I was excited for the fitness room? Who would've ever thought? Anyway... so I usually weigh in in the mornings... to weigh in it must be first thing in the morning after I use the bathroom and before I eat or drink anything... oh and when I am at home I must have no clothes on. I need to lose every pound I can, lol! So when I went to my WW meeting last night it threw my whole science of weighing out of whack! That and TOM is visiting and it is VERY heavy and I am very bloated!! So I wasn't really looking forward to WI. But I ended up being DOWN 1.8 pounds from Sat. I owe it all to that WW soup from the week 1 book! It's 0 points no matter how much you eat. I know that some of you aren't doing WW but if you want the recipe, let me know.

After WW I went to my aerobics class and had a great workout!

mrsschlep - I would LOVE the WW 1 point soup. It's finally starting to get cold in my neck of the woods (well not really cold yet - but cold enough to start wanting winter foods) and soup is great!!

Well I went to the gym last night and I walked during Greys Anatomy and walked 3.11 miles. I want to slowly up that distance as I get more used to walking again....and eventually I plan on doing cardio half the time and weights with maybe just a little cardio the other half. I am allowing myself 1 hour of uninterupted time at the gym and I only do upper body or lower body when I do weights so I should be able to get at least a little 10 or 15 minute burst of cardio in too those days. I actually have done the Body for Life program before and loved it - I also played college softball so I'm definitely familiar with weights etc...I'm just giving myself a little time to work back into it. Last night I would not have made it if I hadn't been watching Greys Anatomy. I am so sore where the seams of my pants are rubbing on my legs (right at the panty line) or maybe it is my panties rubbing. Anyway - OUCH!! Anyone else ever deal with that and have any words of wisdom?? I may bicycle tonight instead to give it a little break. I went from no exercise to an hour walking three times this week so I guess it's not just crazy my body is rebelling a little. I may even eventually consider training for the 1/2 marathon in Disney for 2008 or 2009 - we're planning on going in January anyway those years (although initially later in the month) and it would be a good motivator. I'm also wanting to get all this excess weight off to make for an easier pregnancy if we do decide to have another baby.

Anyway.....keep up the good work everyone!! Oh and I understand the disappointment not seeing bigger numbers. I really would love to be putting up the numbers they are on the Biggest Loser consistently. But I think we all have to realize that our journey is during our real life and when it's tough to even get an hour in at the gym (which it is VERY hard for me) with everything going on in our real lives we can't expect to be able to put quite as much into it as they are able to living on the ranch. I'm not saying we shouldn't try - I think we have to realize that it's going to be a longer journey for us. I know I didn't gain my excess 80 pounds in 10 or 12 weeks - it's not going to come off in 10 or 12 weeks. I have set my goal at a year which I think is reasonable as long as I consistently make the lifestyle changes I need to - one at a time granted - but I'm making them. And I know you guys are too :) After all we can't fail - we have all of us lifting each other up!!

Good morning everyone...

Hope everyone's day is getting off to a good start. I have been at the gym twice so far this week and am planning on going again tomorrow. For some reason I am battling a little bit of exhaustion so I did not get to the gym this morning as usual. I am not sure what is causing it, but I am so tired by the time 3:00 rolls around. I left work yesterday at 5:30, went home, ate dinner and promptly fell asleep around 8:30 and didn't wake up until about 6:30 this morning... What is up with that??? :sad2:

Anyways, I am going to do my best to push through this and keep up with heading to the gym four days a week. I am working to get my five fruits and veggies in a day. I may have to try the one of each color thing to get some variety in.

Desiree - That pesky scale sometimes!! At least the scale didn't move up this week so you're doing something right! Here's hoping for a successful weigh in next week! You're right, I bet TOM has a lot to do with it. No fair that men don't have to go through this when trying to lose weight!

tinkamom - great job on that exercise!! :banana: I love the 5 a day, the colour way concept! I KNOW I'm lacking in this department. :sad2: I suddenly have a hankering for blueberries and I don't even like blueberries very much! :crazy:

WDWorBUST - Thanks for those inspiring words. You're right. We didn't gain this weight in just a few weeks, so we can't expect it to go away in just a few weeks either. I'm not sure about the soreness you're experiencing. I know that for me, I have chaffing problems between my thights :rolleyes1 , even when I'm at goal weight so the remedy I use is BODYGLIDE. It's a miracle worker. It rubs on like deoderant on any body part (I put it on my feet in Disney) and I have absolutely no problems. Maybe you could try it? Keep up the great work!! :sunny:

goofyfan-12 - Your body probably needed the extra rest. I get like that from time to time (like right now actually!). Listen to your body and keep eatin' those veggies. You've got the necessary motivation!! :goodvibes

I'm doing all right. My work-outs are continuing, but I haven't been able to get myself to do Taebo (which has been the BEST for me for burning calories). But, I'm still running, doing weight training and aerobics. I had dinner with my friends last night and ordered an interesting salad with fruit (apples/kiwi/oranges) with almonds/seeds on lettuce! I skipped the dressing and tried to avoid some of the cashews. I ended up bringing a lot of it home, but I'm not sure if I'll eat it. Hopefully I made a healthy choice.

I'm still really fighting the post-trip blues. Writing my dining trip report is fun, but boy does it make me hungry!!!!! :teeth: I'm going to try to get my butt in gear and get to that treadmill today. It's hard to work past those "blah" feelings, but I don't want to let the team down!!!

I'm sorry for being so absent. I was not feeling too well this week and haven't lost a single pound even though I skipped weighing in last week. Therefore, I was not up to par this week now. I picked myself up though and have decided to join JC tomorrow so if you all will still have me, I'm here and back on track. I was just thinking of not keeping up with this solely b/c I haven't lost anything in the last 3 weeks even with all the exercise I did but I am on the upswing and should be adding some losses to your numbers next week with JC. Let me know if it's too late though.

Congrats to all of you and welcome new members.

Hi team... sorry.. I know I haven't been here.. I have been in work and tech week heck... I would use stronger words.. but it just wouldn't work here on the dis! LOL!! Well.. I am NOT getting on that scale.. I am afraid... tech week equals bad eating... mostly pizza... and junk... and not enough water.. and not enough sleep.. but LOTS of activity... I don't think I have sat down for more than 10 min at a time for the last week!!!

My show opens next weekend.. and I am truly overwhelmed. I will NOT be a great asset to the team this week... But I promise after next week that I will kick it into high gear... I get my life back then!!!!

I am sure I gained at LEAST 3lbs!!! so.. put me there UGH!!! but I will make those come off!!!! I know I will!!

So.. I hang my head in shame.. please don't hate me :( I HATE to let people down.. but.. something had to give this week.. and unfortunately, the first thing I always choose.. is me... I let myself down first...that sucks I know.. but, I can't seem to choose any other way.

I do want to welcome the new members of our team... and will miss those who have left. I really.. really... don't want to go.... but.. if you think someone will do better for you... I understand... just let me know :(

I commit to trying to put myself first.. or at least somewhere on the list of priorities for the weekend. I commit to drinking my water again... that is my baby step for the weekend. WIsh me Luck!!!!

Sorry for the drive by post.. but.. i didn't want you all to worry!!! And again.. I am sorry... but I do know i will be much better after the show opens!! I promise!!!!!! :)

Valentine- Use your crazy schedule to your advantage...just think of all the extra calories you are burning! Maybe you can pack a turkey sandwich or a nice salad and lots of 0 or 1 pt snacks instead of having the pizza and junk food. Its all in your head....you CAN convince yourself that pizza is bad and turkey on high fiber whole wheat is good! :rotfl: And if that doesn't work then just limit yourself to one slice and make sure to bring some healthy snacks to go with it.

Believe me I understand slipping up with junk food...last week I had a fight with a bag of chips and lost! :guilty: (But I did count out a serving size and recorded the points!)

YOU CAN DO IT............DON'T GIVE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
 
Valentine- You are not letting us down!! We are here to pick you back up. As tinkamom said - just try to plan an little better and when you slip try to eat at least a smaller portion than you would have in the past. We all slip occasionally - last week I caused the team a 3 pound gain - so I do understand that you are feeling bad....but just pick yourself back up and get after it this week. You can do it!! Together we all can.

Hey everyone!! Don;t ask me what happened.... but I haven't lost a pound the last week and a half! UGGG!!! On Monday I weighed in- and no loss/no gain. That's fine. I'm ok with that. But so far this week- no loss again! I don;t officially weighin until Monday, so there's still a chance, but .............MAN! This is frustrating!

Sorry I missed out on you all this week. It suddenly dawned on me early this morning that I hadn't reported in or seen any reports from anyone all week. I guess because of the change of teams I must've thought the week was off or something and usually there's one last post on the thread from the week before so that indicates to me that there is a new thread- and I guess that didn't happen this time.... In any case- I'm back.

WELCOME TO OUR NEW TEAM MEMEBERS!! You've just joined in on a great team.
 
Kathy, I know how hard it is to eat healthy during tech week. I have worked with my son's school play for the last 6 years and very involved with the costumes for 3 of those years (Copcabana had over 350 costumes and last year we did Evita) Just keep positive thoughts and always have a water bottle with you at all times. That has helped me in the past. I also rely on turkey subs with no mayo. One of the healthiest take out. I also packed fruit so I could stay awy from the cookies and candies that the directors had out. Two years ago I lost 10 pounds during the month before the show opened (We were working on Suessical and had a lot of challenges with those costumes)

Break a leg with Fiddler (I saw it at a local theater this past summer adn really enjoyed it)

PS I just got home from seeeing Mary Poppins on Broadway. We loved it. It is very different from the movie.

Sorry I wasn't able to get on earlier...I had SO much to do today, and still didn't get it all done!!! I totally forgot I volunteered to do a booth at my daughters school fo rthe fall festival, and I wound up being there for about 3 1/2 hours, but I did go to the gym this morning, that was after hitting Weight Watchers first thing this morning...I am estatic to report that I lost 2lbs this week!!!! Wish it were more, but I'll take it!!

Valentine so glad that you are OK, I was starting to worry...We are not giving up on you, so you better not give up on yourself, I know that once this is over, you will be commited!! Sorry that you had a gain this week, I totally know what you are talking about putting yourself last...I did it for 5 years, and I am determined that it will not happen again...I am important to my family, and I need to take care of myself in order to take care of them!!! karebear1 I didn't get a chance to post the link to the new thread before it was closed last week...sorry...I know what you mean about the no loss and very little loss thing...When I first started WW I was losing 2-4lbs a week, now it is just .6 here 1.4 there...but I think it may be because I have fewer to lose now??? Keep up the great work and you WILL see results!!! :banana:

OH YEAH...I am so excited...at the fall festival, they had a chinese auction, and my DH is a HUGE Flyers fan, well they had a raffle for 2 club box seats for the Nov. 2nd game, and I put $40.00 worht of tickets in...AND I WON!!!!! It was so awesome, cause our 4 year anniversary is Oct 25th(Wednesday) and his birthday is October 30th(the following Monday) so I got 2 club box seats to the Flyers game(with parking) for $40.00!!!! WOOOHOOOOOO :banana: :cheer2: :Pinkbounc :cheer2: :banana:

EVERYONE ENJOY THE REST OF THEIR WEEKEND!!!!

P.S. I am def. going to hit the gym tomorrow, it is supposed to be our long run day...8 miles...UGH!!!!
 
Wooohooooo! Thank you disneyfanz04!! I will wear it proudly!! So how's everyone's weekends going. Mine has been okay. I haven't ate too badly and we even had a family picnic. I can tell that my stomach is getting used to smaller portions and I'm getting better at leaving food on my plate. In the past I've always had issues with "wasting" food so I would eat it all making myself miserable. I'm getting much better though. Oh - one scary thing. Last night my DD had some type of reaction to something. She had hives all over her belly and back. We took her to urgent care because she is almost 3 now and had never had anything like that happen. The doctor told us that they were classic hives, but we couldn't think of anything that could have caused them. He gave us a strong antihistamine and told us to give it to her every 4 hours until it was completely gone. She had one dose last night and 2 today. I think she might need one more - but they are getting close to gone now - they are definitely MUCH better. But it's definitely frightening - and what's worse if having no idea where they came from. Today we went to the pumpkin patch and DD picked out pumpkins for herself, me and Dh. She had a ball. Oh and she got one of the teeny tiny ones and is sleeping with it right now. Anyway...hope everyone finishes the weekend strong.
