QOTD for April 5th:

Eating vegetables are so important for good health. What is your favorite way to eat your veggies? Do you have a recipe you would like to share?

I have discovered that I LOVE red peppers. I can't stand green peppers so have avoided all peppers. I finally gave in and tried a red pepper and YUM! I dip them in garlic and chive hummus. It's my new favorite treat!

Guess who didn't report her weight this week and is unlikely to report it this week? :rolleyes1 It's that bad. I am definitely stress eating. The morning starts out well and then I go downhill from there. Lunch is sometimes okay, but today was horrible.

I've been reading, but haven't been posting because I've been so off plan. I finally decided that the only way I'm going to get back OP is to admit to it and to commit to getting back on the wagon.

Here's to a better day tomorrow!

I feel for you. That was EXACTLY how I felt after two bad weeks and eating way to much restaurant food on spring break. I had gained back EVERYTHING I had lost. I was embarrassed and mad at myself. Like you, I admitted it, weighed in and then had my big gees weight loss ever! I am completely back on track (probably even more motivated now.)

We all have our bad moments, the key is to stick with it over the long haul.

Congrats on getting back on. YOU CAN DO IT!!!!:cool1:

Ok this might be a novel of an update but I had a good day and i just need to share! It started off not so great, waking up 5 minutes before I had to leave! (I stayed up too late watching tv) but I rushed around and got out the door and got to class on time. My American Government class is one i usually hate, which is a shame because the subject matter is actually interesting to me, i just dont like the professor. But we are doing group projects and they are actually quite fun! We get to pretend to be senators and while I may be on a party i DO NOT agree with, its kind of fun to pretend to be important!

In my next class I got back my midterm and i got an A-!!! :cool1: This means I really do not have to worry about that class for the rest of the semester. This is good because really it was supposed to be my blowoff class and it was starting to be more difficult than i liked!

My last class is what really made my day though. This is probably the most important class of the semester, because I need at least a B in order to continue with my program, and it basically teaches you what to expect in our 400 level history classes. I really love this class, and i love the professor, he's super nice and helpful and really smart and i just admire him a lot. our project for the semester is a ten page research paper, which we've been working on for months, and ive put ALOT of work into. On monday we handed in outlines. Well today in class he singled out ME and two others for our exceptional outlines and handed them to the entire class! Then we had to present our topic to the whole class and talk about our outlines! I was nervous because I did not know this was happenining but I know my topic very well so I did a good job. Also, my professor was being evaluated by the head of the department, so that was even more nerveracking.

I was really proud that he singled out my work, and I am really considering sending him an email at the end of the semester (after grades are out) and thanking him for all his help this semester, but I don't know if that is appropriate. I'm also taking two classes with him next semester. I think the best part is I know I'm getting recognition because I put in the work, not just cause a professor likes me or i'm a favorite. That is possibly one of the best feelings ever. When I got home I had an email from him thanking the three of us for our terrific outilnes and great pressentations, and apologizing for putting us on the spot (which he obviously did because the department head was there, but we all knew the department head would be there). I really hope I am able to take my senior thesis with this professor as well.

So after all that, the dogs had a vet appointment and Scutter got his teeth cleaning moved from Wed to Fri. In the end I think this will be good, because I'm going to be a nervous wreck, and I only have a few hours work on friday instead of a whole day of school. And i just want it over with so I can stop worrying about him going under.

And finally for the best news of the day........I WENT RUNNING! After the vet it was still light out, and not too cold, and I already had the dogs in the car so I thought we would go for a walk. Once I'm on the trail all I can think about is running so I was like "why not". We only did 3/4 of a mile, because I wasn't dressed for running really and one of my dogs doesn't run that well, but we did it! 3 miles all together and i felt great about that. Dinner was sweet potato fries and a turkey burger.

Tomorrow I'm applying for a job at the childrens musuem. Cross your fingers for me and all your toes because this would be great! I have no jobs that involved children on my resume and I NEED that for the education program, so this would be perfect!

So all in all a pretty great day. I didn't go to group classes but I did still get out and do something. I can't believe its 9:30 already, i had wanted to write 2 pages of my paper...I don't know if that will happen.

Have a nice night everyone

WOOO HOOO! :cool1: Good luck with the interview!

Sorry I haven't responded to anyone today. I have a little bug and not feeling too well. (figures since I am on Spring Break). Feeling a little better right now. So I am going to post my last QOTD for tomorrow. I will try to catch up with you all tomorrow. :goodvibes

Get feeling better!

So as of today I will be MIA most days, Track has officially started and we have a very busy 6 weeks ahead of us.
DS15 did the 200 meter, the 1600 meter (1 mile), and the 4x400 relay. 200 was the very best, 1st in his heat with a time of 27.1 seconds with a headwind. Not to shabby for his first time out. 1600 meter time was 5.57 minutes.
Don't know what time his 4x400 was but it wasn't pretty. LOL

Anyway, we will be busy with races and practice but I will pop in when I can.

I feel for you with track. Between the DS (middle school) and DD (high school) we have had 5 meets in 7 days. YIKES! Sounds like a great first showing for your DS! Have a fun season!

I am off to our first home meet today. Raining, chilly and windy. Yup, it feels like track!

Good morning all! :goodvibes

Lara, I was wondering if you could bring your own refillable water bottle from home to avoid the work water. Might not be too practical but it's an idea.

Jill, glad that your Mom is doing okay! :flower3:

Linda, have fun with that recess in the rain! :umbrella: It turned to snow by the time it got here.

Liz, hope that you are feeling better soon! :flower3:

Susan, glad that you are feeling better, too. Be careful with those antibiotics!

belledreamer hope that you are feeling better now, too. :flower3:

Mary•Poppins sorry to hear that you aren't feeling well, too. :flower3:

Buffy, good luck to your racers and did you know they opened up registration early for the WDW Marathon races? It's discounted to $135 for the half -- it's supposed to be for Disney Visa but seems to be working for everyone. :cool2: I registered for the Donald yesterday.

I was just reading an article the other day that making sure that you get your veggie servings is a an easy way to improve your health -- only 26% of us get the recommended servings. :sad2:

My favorite was to fix vegetables is to roast them in the oven with a drizzle of olive oil, salt and pepper. My favorite combo is potatoes, carrots, onion and parsnip but any combo works. I love the cauliflower but the broccoli I would rather have steamed. Grilled veggies are great, too. Frozen veggies are much better quality now and retain more nutrients sometimes than fresh because they are flash frozen in the field. They are easy for week nights.

Look, CC, the wagon is right here waiting for you! You can do it! :thumbsup2 Sorry for the tough week -- I'm blaming mine on the full moon! :hippie:

Trina, congrats on the great papers and being singled out for your great work! :yay:

Lynda, you might create a new taste sensation with your chocolate dipped veggies! ;)

I'm taking my 2 pound gain and hopping in the wagon with CC. Anyone else joining us? :thumbsup2

Have a great day all!

Hi everyone!

We had a great time at the ballgame yesterday, but uuugggghhh I felt awful last night. All that stuff we were saying about indulging in your old favorites after getting healthy? Yeah, I think that hit me hard. I had a Shakeburger (Shake Shack cheeseburger) and Box Frites sweet potato garlic fries. DH and I split a soft pretzel late in the game, and I had a big Diet Coke to drink. By the time we got home, I just wanted to curl up into a little ball. So I did. I felt a lot better this morning - it was either indigestion, or (hopefully not) something off with something I ate. I don't feel the need to do that again for a while!

That said, I felt pretty good this morning. Not good enough for a C25K workout, but I did do my 30-day shred, and I didn't keel over. DH and I met with our lawyer to finally get our wills, etc. done - I can't believe we've put this off so long. The girls are 5 and 7! We've had life insurance for quite a while, but we just haven't done the work to make sure our kids are covered the way we want them to be should anything happen to both of us. I hate thinking about it, but I'm so glad we're doing it. The lawyer's office is just a few doors down from our favorite restaurant, so I went there for a pretty healthy lunch afterward. They had a local chicken salad (no mayo - made with mustard and a light dressing) over lettuce, and that was just what I needed.

The girls are still at my MIL's for spring break week, so tonight we're going out for Mexican. After last night, I'm definitely taking it easy, but it'll be so nice to go - we haven't been there in ages.

My WI at WW yesterday was great. I was down another 0.8 - I have yet to level off or gain since I hit goal, and I think I'm going to get through the last two weeks of maintenance and then reset my goal a little lower. I'm happy to have this problem for a change! I'm down 2.8 since I hit my goal, which puts me outside the WW maintenance range (2 pounds up/down from goal). But this goal is 5 pounds higher than my pre-baby goal, and maybe my body is trying to tell me something. :confused3 I guess we'll see what happens over the next couple of weeks. I did realize, though, that my current goal isn't a number I really want to see again, so if I set a new goal two pounds lower, then I'm obligated not to get there again. Maintaining is hard! But I'll take it. :)

XO
Liz

Does WW give you a hard time about lowering your goal after you are at maintenance?

And you're right.....maintenance IS hard.....but being overweight is harder!

Its a habit for me now. However, I make sure I drink the recommended about by filling a 32 ounce glass twice over the course of the day. The bigger the glass I use the more I'm inclined to hit my water target.

Afternoon ::MickeyMo

I'm taking today off but I did get a few leg lifts in, some dancing around while I cleaned, and am working on my 2nd 32 ounce glass of water. I had scrambled eggs and toast for breakfast. Sandwich and string cheese for lunch. Dinner will be sirloin soup over mashed potatoes and a side of broc & cheese.

Alan is going to head to Walgreens later or tomorrow and get me a large dry erase calendar for my office. This will make it easier to track my goals for each month.

Tomorrow I plan on doing some wash, swimming, and starting a grocery list.

Everyone have a great night!

Love dry erase boards and calendars! Trying to train my kids to use them to help keep their schedules organized. i think that DD is a hopeless case, but DS seems to be getting the hang of it.

Do you have a recipe for the sirloin soup?

I try to drink all 64 oz every day. I have a old plastic orange juice jug that's 59 oz so I fill that up and try to make sure I've gotten that down before dinner. Then I know I'll just have 5 oz to go. Work-out days are a lot easier cause I can put down 40 oz in an hour easy.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Been feeling really yucky the past couple of days with my stomach... Ddad had come home with a touch of the stomach bug and I think he passed a little of it to me. Not feeling bad enough to take any medicine, just feeling ugh... After dinner yesterday, I had only eaten 900 calories (due to just not having an appetite) so I had to do some pita bread, hummus and milk to get my calories in. Sipping on some water right now.

Had a terrible storm blow through last night. Lots of thunder and lightning and pouring rain. Usually I love it; helps me sleep harder. But this was too much for even me to sleep through. I did make up for it by sleeping until after 10 am this morning. :goodvibes

Got some laundry to finish and then going to try to get a good walk in at the gym before kicking back to watch my new 'The Muppet Show' DVD's that I got today. :happytv:

Hope you are feeling better today!

It would be easier to state what veggies I DON'T like! Off the top of my head the only veggies I say no to are harvard beets and turnip....and even the turnip would be tolerable in a pinch.

Roasting and grilling is my preferred cooking method for most veggies. Roasted cauliflower, broccoli, and asparagus make frequent appearances here. I also like stir fry with onions, peppers, snap peas, cabbage, etc. i also love salad and eat it at least once a day.....spring mix and/or romaine and/or baby spinach with grape tomatoes, cucumber, carrots, onions, and then I toss in whatever is handy or looks good.....cold cooked leftover veggies, beans, goat cheese, hard-boiled egg whites, diced apple....they are all fodder for a salad.

Guess who didn't report her weight this week and is unlikely to report it this week? :rolleyes1 It's that bad. I am definitely stress eating. The morning starts out well and then I go downhill from there. Lunch is sometimes okay, but today was horrible.

Wow! Things are looking up for you this week! Great job on the outline. Nice to be recognized for your work. And good job with the run! Prayers for the perfect job to come along.

**************

morning friends! Still typing on the Ipad, so please forgive the crazy typos!

Last night's schedule changed a bit and we made it to spin class and were planning to also do the step class, but step was cancelled at the last minute and the fitness room was too crowded for our taste and DD did not have her swim bag, so we went home after spin. But my behind is glad I did!:rolleyes1

Breakfast is eaten and cleaned up, plus I made a healthy OP breakfast for DH. Need to make beds, hit the TM, fold laundry, and maybe scrap a bit today. And I haven't done my Easter Bunny shopping yet! Hope to fit that in tomorrow.

Off to get stuff done! TTYL..........P

QOTD is about vegetables. I hate them. They are yucky....I try to avoid them at all costs...

Ok, really, I am not a vegetable fan. I do eat raw carrots and celery - like I did on my salad last night. Oh, yes, a salad is iceberg lettuce, carrots, celery and seasame seeds with a little grated cheese.....

Waytogo on the impromptu presentation. :dance3: I think it's totally appropriate to e-mail the professor. You want to develop the rapport with him if you want to do your thesis with him, although it seems like you already have impressed him! I would reply to his e-mail and tell him that you didn't mind getting put on the spot and appreciate the recognition for your work.
Good luck on the interview!!

I need to eat more. I like veggies I just have some mental, lazy, block with them. I did have a big salad last night so that's good.

Good for you for realizing that you are having a problem with stress eatting and trying to fix it. The wagon is here for you!

Oh my! I'm 44 days away! But, we are arriving Friday morning (flight lands at 8:30 am) and leaving Monday. DH and I are going alone for our anniversary. It's getting close! Where are you staying? We are staying at Pop. We were going to stay at CSR or the Poly, but we probably won't be at the resort much, so decided to save money by staying at Pop. We really like Pop, too.

Your trip is getting so close! ... and just going with your DH ... sounds wonderful.

Okay. I missed a day and am all caught up. My mom is out of surgery (knee replacement) and everything went well. I came to work while my sister stayed at the hospital. I am going to go to the hospital this afternoon and evening. The doctor said she'd be home in 3-5 days. Luckily, I am off of school until Tuesday, so I'll be able to help her with what she needs.

So glad your mom's surgery went well. Knee surgery is tough. My mom had one a few years ago and it was a hard recovery for her. She is overweight and this made it even tougher. My mom tries to avoid taking any kinds of pills and was not taking her painkiller before she went to therapy. This was holding her back from making progress. When her doctor found out, he yelled at her and told her to take it 45 minutes before her therapy sessions. Hoping your mom has a speedy recovery!

Jill

DH and I met with our lawyer to finally get our wills, etc. done - I can't believe we've put this off so long. The girls are 5 and 7! We've had life insurance for quite a while, but we just haven't done the work to make sure our kids are covered the way we want them to be should anything happen to both of us. I hate thinking about it, but I'm so glad we're doing it.

My BIL just got diagnosed with colon cancer. He is only 48 with 5 children. As much as we don't like to think of these things .... they are so important!! It is a really tough situation.

The girls are still at my MIL's for spring break week, so tonight we're going out for Mexican. After last night, I'm definitely taking it easy, but it'll be so nice to go - we haven't been there in ages.

This sounds like fun for everyone ... you, your DH, your girls and your MIL!

:cheer2::cheer2: ... on your great day! Good luck on your interview! :thumbsup2

CC you've seen my gains these last few weeks:scared1: Ithink reporting it has kept me from throwing in the towel and has helped me "face the music" so to speak:scared1: I'm glad you've been brave enough to own up to falling off the wagon now jump back on again:thumbsup2

Great job reporting even when you have bad weeks. I plateaued a few weeks ago and it was very frustrating.

**** A plug for coaching **** I lost some weight this week and I do think it is due to coaching and being on the boards! ;)

Hmm...eating vegies isn't too hard for me because I pretty much like them any way. I like them raw in a salad or heated up from frozen or a can. But my favorite is roasted in the oven. You can roast any vegetable and it will be so delicious! My husband likes to grill them too, which I also enjoy. Now if only I could dip them in chocolate... :rotfl2:

Lynda

.... oh ... if they would be low-cal dipped in chocolate .... :cloud9:

QOTD is about vegetables. I hate them. They are yucky....I try to avoid them at all costs...

Ok, really, I am not a vegetable fan. I do eat raw carrots and celery - like I did on my salad last night. Oh, yes, a salad is iceberg lettuce, carrots, celery and seasame seeds with a little grated cheese.....

HA HA ... you sound like my sons! And you have more in your salad than my son does! He only eats iceberg lettuce with a little bit of shredded carrots. :upsidedow

Hi everyone!

Feeling much better after the questionable food at the ball game on Tuesday. :) I did a C25K workout this morning and actually felt really good afterward. I was better about stretching before and after, which helped - but I also put a new song into my playlist, and it came up just as my last 5-minute run started. Perfect timing!

pjlla, my WW leader has told me that it'll be no problem at all to adjust my goal, so I'm hoping that means the process is as simple as changing it with them and in my eTools record. And you're right - the maintaining might be a challenge, but it's not as hard as losing all that weight in the first place! :lmao:

Tomorrow we go to my MIL's to get the girls - we'll be there through Easter weekend, and I just know she'll have the place loaded with Easter candy, including my absolute deadly favorite (Cadbury Creme Eggs). Must be strong...we'll be there through brunch on Sunday, and then we'll come home to get back into the routine. Tonight DH and I are enjoying our last night of "freedom" with dinner out at our favorite restaurant. I haven't cooked all week, but I've been handling it pretty well! Good practice for our vacation this summer, I hope...

XO

Thanks to all of you for all the well wishes! Feeling much better today. :goodvibes

Did get to go to the gym yesterday. Spent 15 minutes on the elliptical (longest so far! :woohoo:) and 45 on the treadmill, burning over 400 calories and walking 2.5 miles. And...I did my first 16 minute mile! About killed myself trying to make it, but I made it! Couldn't do it on the 2nd mile but I did the 2nd in about 17 minutes which wasn't too bad in my opinion. :goodvibes It probably would have helped if I had eaten something beforehand though cause I was already tired by the 1st half mile, not to mention that I hadn't been to the gym in the past 5 days... :sad2: Still trying to figure out how long to wait after eating before exercising...

I'm also thinking that I'm needing to get fitted for some running shoes soon, mostly because I was noticing pain in my joints that quit as soon as I got off the treadmill. Either that or I need to work on my form when I walk. Do have the regular soreness in my legs after a long walk, but I'm finding that I like it now. Really makes me feel like I've accomplished something. :)

Laundry (Does the laundry ever cease in this house?!) and housework for today. And tonight...FISH TACOS!!

Hey everybody! Hope you are having a good day! This week has been busy. My friend and I are having a marathon of reading the Hunger Games so I've been getting a lot of reading done. About 1/3 into Catching Fire.

QOTD Yesterday: I try and get in my 64 oz. everyday. I at least get about 5 cups of water, some days is easier than others.

QOTD Today: I absolutely love broccoli and carrots. I'm fixing some right now in the oven, I need to get to trying some more varities. I eat all different peppers almost everyday, I am addicted.

----
Well, I think this week has gone alright. Today is my last day on level 1 of 30DS. If I didn't lose weight this week I don't think I gained any. I've hit my calories all week, and I'm trying to keep my sodium intake low today, I guess we'll see what the scale says tomorrow!

:grouphug: Take it one step at a time. Try to find something else to do besides eat that you can take your stress out on. I have been looking into meditation - have you ever tried that??

Janis

Well unfortunatly nothing outstandingly awesome happened today, but i didn't really expect to have two amazing days in a row! Today was just a normal day, and I'm still happy about yesterday.

What I didn't get done in working out I more than made up for in my homework. I managed to write 8 pages of my rough draft, i plan on writing more this weekend, but i only need to hand in 7 so i feel relieved that i'm technically done.

I do have a lot of stuff to put away and clean up around the house, which I haven't been getting done but I've been busy!

Tomorrow my dog gets his teeth cleaned! I am worried about him going under anestesia so any good thoughts sent our way tomorrow would be great!

QOTD: Water: I have just made it a habit. I agree with Lisah0711 that water consumption being so important is a myth. One thing I think it does for me is it helps me feel full all the time, so I don't reach for something unhealthy. I love that aspect of it and its why I drink a lot of water. I sometimes get the flats of water, but I have been using the Brita water bottles and love them. It makes my water taste GREAT!

QOTD: Veggies: I am a vegetarian and have been for a very long time and fortunately, I love all veggies. It's not hard for me to get my veggies in! Last night I had some baby bell peppers with a 100 Cal Pack of guacamole and it was amazingly good! YUM! I also like veggies with hummus. Or grilled veggies.

=====================
Kristina I love your new doggie! So cute! Congrats on the anniversary and going to Vegas! Have fun!

CC What you're going through is totally normal and we have all been there. So glad you posted about it! You are going to get back on that wagon and continue as usual. That is a given! Congrats on the courage to post and continue this journey! You are amazing!

---------------------------
We are here! We arrived in Orlando yesterday afternoon. We are staying at Bonnet Creek Resort in a 3 BR Presidential. It is absolutely gorgeous! We went to Hollywood Studios today. It was amazing! Animal Kingdom tomorrow. We walked about 12 miles today! I tracked it on my RunKeeper. We came back to the resort early, so the kids could swim. I got a nap, got up and went to the fitness facility and ran a mile in 12:00 and biked a mile in 4:30. Now I am just chilling with my kids, watching TV, while my hubby sleeps. So glad to be here and exercising! We ate at Mama Melrose's today. I got the Penne alla Vodka pasta. I only ate about 1/3 of it, and was stuffed! Tomorrow I hope to find some healthy options. I usually get the salad at Flame Tree BBQ. Have a good night all, and I hope to report in tomorrow night. Animal Kingdom is only open until 8:00 so that should be totally possible! Goodnight!:thumbsup2:cool1:

Non Scale Victories: eating only 1/3 of the pasta at Mama Melrose's today. Previous to this challenge, I wouldn't eat only 1/3 of anything, especially something so yummy as WDW food, and something I spend about $20 on. But, I'm full now on smaller portions (more "normal" portions) YAY! and also, I realize it doesn't make it a better value if I stuff myself and feel miserable. So that's progress, for me.

Working out while on vacation! I have been in the fitness room at Bonnet Creek before (once) but I usually don't go in there. I have ran outside here though and that is beautiful!

I was able to pack clothes that didn't fit me last time! YAY!! :cool1::banana::cool1::banana:

I haven't heard of a 100 calorie of quacoamole. Is there a brand name for it? I would be really interested in that (I tend to eat more than 100 calories!)

Way to go on the food and exercise ... keep it up! :goodvibes

Remember to weigh-in tomorrow with Sue. Good luck my loser friends!

It has been a pleasure coaching you this week! :goodvibes I hand the reins to Lisa. Have a great weekend and for anyone celebrating Easter and/or Passover, have a peaceful holiday.

QOTD for April 5th:

Eating vegetables are so important for good health. What is your favorite way to eat your veggies? Do you have a recipe you would like to share?

I don't like many veggies (baby carrots, brocolli, green beans, potatoes). I on occasion eat carrots with ranch dressing. I put cheese over my brocolli (I love the Green giant single servings. Its a MUST buy every grocery trip).

So I went to the gym tonight. I go to an unsupervised 24hr gym, you swipe your card to get in, etc. So I go in tonight and where the outdoor shoes are left there is a row of 10 high-tops. Half are florescent with one snazzy pair all neon green and blue. Throw back to the 80’s. :rotfl:Turns out that there is a bunch of boys at the gym. (well I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt that they are 16 or older, as that is the age limit for membership). I had no ideas that high-tops and neon was back in style!!!:confused3:laughing:

Despite the noisy boys workout went good!
Have a great Easter weekend everyone!!!

In eggs or on nachos..lol. Seriously really love roasted brussells sprouts now.

Yeah well I was doing great until the Mexican restaurant tonight. I don't eat out much so if I'm going to get something it's going to be something I like...

Tomorrow I will go under my caloric allowance to make up for it...:)

Went to see Trans Siberian Orchestra tonight-- was great as expected. :rockband:

Cadburys creme eggs arent as bad as you might think-3.5 pts on old ww system and at least they are 1 portion sized:lmao:

Have you ever heard of Paul McKenna? I've just started listening to his hypnosis/meditating download.

 Interesting! Maybe they just like to be noticed?

Good morning everyone!

Looks like I sweated my gain last week for no reason becasue I lost a solid number this week. Only about 5lbs away from my goal for May! Maybe I can even surpass it by a couple pounds before the challenge is over!!

I think we're heading out to shop this weekend for vacation clothes. I'm equally happy and nervous. I actually had to put a belt around a pair of shorts I wore just a month ago. I'm excited for new clothes, but I'm nervous that they might not fit by May!!

Thanks to this weeks coach and for this coming week's coach!!

Have a fabulous day everyone! :goodvibes
