Here is the QOTD for Saturday, March 31.

Answer one of the following questions about exercising:

What stands in the way of my workouts?
Do I have a legitimate reason for skipping a workout? How could I reward myself for working out?

Well....No. I just feel lazy sometimes and don't feel like doing it, haha. And what's really bad is I have DVD's to do at home so I don't even have to leave the house! I do need to work on that, that's for sure.

QOTD for April 1st

What food has FOOLED you when you looked up the calories or points AFTER you ate it.

Most foods, hahaha! That's how I got into this position, actually. So now (especially after losing FIVE POUNDS at my weigh-in yesterday morning!) I look up everything before I even put it in my grocery cart.

QOTD for April 1st

Rice. I told my husband how many calories were in it and he, after thinking about it a day decided it must be for uncooked rice-- nope!

Belle--Too Cute is a huge guilty pleasure for me, mostly because I am so against breeding.

Well, I worked out a little, had a few coughing fits but I brought cough drops with me. Sanitized the equipment I used. It is soo nice being able to shower with hot water as long as you want, and there was actual sunshine when I went to the jacuzzi so that was really nice. Work was fine but at the end of the night--definitely dragging...
Got home and was pleased to see the food diary adjusted calorie intake from what I reported in the exercise journal, so was able to have some krinkle chips and cottage cheese. The krinkle chips are what my bad husband got and guess who has eaten most of them? I'm usually not tempted by dh's junk food but I was curious about these and they are so good...

The rest of the day was spend fighting with my mother. I don't even know about what. It was just a rough day.

And lastly i come to you folks with a request. One of my big problems is when my mom asks me to make a grocery list. I can never think of anything to put on it. So my question to you folks is do you have any go to items that you always put on your grocery list to help yourself succeed for the week? Are there any general items that help you make meals that you feel every well stocked kitchen should have? Any snack items that you absolutley rely on?

 Really hoping you and your mom can work things out.

As for a grocery list. I buy the food for my family. Since DH, myself and my one DS have to watch our weight, I just try to NOT buy "junk". Believe me .... all my sons complain like there is no tomorrow. My husband and I just got back from our Sunday morning grocery run ... and unless I have a coupon for junk food, I don't buy it. The kids are already complaining. Unless your mom is okay with not buying these things, your self control has to really take over.

A lot of the things in our house are 100 cal English Muffins, yogurt, air popped popcorn (we keep this in our cookie jar :rotfl:), clementines, apples, grapes, strawberries, pistachios.

Lately, I have also cooked either chicken or salmon (only for me ... everyone in my house hates fish) for the week and have for lunch with steamed broccoli and/or sauteed mushrooms. I will get these ready on Sunday and have them ready to take for my lunches during the week.

And ... I am really trying to eat breakfast (my biggest problem!)

Hope this helps!

So sorry about your rough day...

For me, it's usually low-sodium turkey meat, strawberries, Special K cereal and whole wheat bread at least. DM does more of the shopping than I do, but she usually makes sure to get us a couple different fruits.

As for snack items, low fat peanut butter, cheese sticks, and Hershey kisses (but sparingly on the chocolates.) :thumbsup2

Can't really remember the last time I was fooled by a food but I do remember my dismay when I found out that my favorite food at Chili's, 'Big Mouth Bites' were over 2,100 calories for 1 meal!! :scared1: Where do the calories come from?! :confused3

I too love those. Haven't had them in a long time and didn't realize how many calories they were! :scared1:

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Decided to get in my car today to see how far 13.1 miles is... It's a lot further than I thought it was going to be... Had the first bit of nervousness of if I can actually do the Princess 1/2 as I planned. I mean, I have a year. I know I can do this. But I'm still nervous... *sigh* Shake it off Ashley...shake it off...

You can do it. :cool1: One of my goals is to run this race. Not possible this year ... but hoping for the following year!

Watching 'Too Cute' on Animal Planet before heading to bed. The puppies are soooo CUTE!!! Almost makes me wish I had a dog. Almost... :rolleyes1

I think you missed the part that the information came from the Biggest Loser journal. You may want to sit down and have a chat with your Doctor to see what a healthy weight for you would be. Depending on your height and bone structure - you may already be there. Another recommendation would be to see a nutritionist. It was the best thing I ever did. My diet is a mix of 20% protein/55% carbs and 25% fats. Also consider figuring out your BMR.

I have two valuable pieces of paper I use. One is a weekly meal planning sheet (template found on Microsoft) the other is my shopping list in excel that has every item on it I would buy. The regular stuff is already checked. Every week we buy milk, yogurt, OJ, eggs, canadian bacon, cheese sticks, oatmeal, cereal, chicken, apples, oranges, grapes, bananas, cantalope, strawberries, red leaf lettuce, green leaf lettuce, purple cabbage, baby spinach, cucumbers, celery, carrots, green onion, bermuda onion, tomatos, whole wheat wraps. The chicken is grilled. With the fruit we cut for fruit salad, the vegies are made into gazpacho (the South Beach diet gazpacho - it's very good) and salad. The wraps are for snacks. Throw some salad on the wrap, drizzle a little lite dressing - yummy. I second the idea of apples and peanut butter. If you have a Whole Foods near you - it's worth the extra money to buy the freshly ground peanuts. A pint is about $3.99.

Actually it was today - but I looked before I ate. I made some stuffed manicotti and 2 of the manicotti were only 325 calories!!!

Just take it one mile at a time!!!!

I think I may have turned the corner this week with exercise. I finally found a mix I like!!! I bought Zumba for the Wii - and LOVE IT!!! Now - I'm not good at it, but it is fun!!! In 20 minutes I burned over 300 calories!!! So I am still walking to WDW, but on alternate days I Zumba and use the BL Wii challenge. I am going slow - so not to burn myself out - or hurt myself. I don't want to break a hip during Zumba!!!:rotfl:

:goodvibes I have only tried Zumba a few times. It is hard to do! Could be that I am not very coordinated! :lmao:

Spent today trying to straighten out paperwork for the past year for both my father and mine!!! Remider to self - don't shove stuff in drawers. PUT THEM AWAY!!! My goal this year is to clean out every drawer, closet, tub, hiding spot I have.

I made DS and DH MonkeyBread. A recipe on Cooking Light - little do they know there is whole wheat flour in the mix. A little high in calories for me - I think 225 for 4 pieces - but DH and DS aren't watching their weight and enjoy sweets occasionally. Imagine there are people alive that can eat sweets occasionally, stop themselves after a serving, and feel satisfied!!! DH requested Apple Jam - so I made a pint for him to go with his peanut butter and bagel for breakfast this week.

Tomorrow is my day with my Father (my sister and I take turns on the weekends taking him for the day). I think he wants to do a little shopping - he wants new pants, etc. But if it's a nice day - I hope to get that out of the way early and then take a ride up to Hampton Beach for a walk on the beach. Head to BJ's on the way home, grocery shop for the week, and then come home and cook whatever we end up planning.

Enjoy your dad today Janis! :)

Have a great Sunday everyone!!!

Janis

Wooooo HOOOOOOOO!!!!! I knew it would go good for you! Sounds like even better than you expected. Watch out, you may become hooked!:cool1:

Jillian's Body Revolution is actually at 90 day program. It has a set of 15 DVD's, a seven day jump start eating plan and 90 eating plan.

There is a workout schedule (which dvd to use when) and all of the meal guidelines.

Yes, I am really enjoying it! Today is my first rest day. I found the workouts to be fairly easy right now, but I do feel like I am getting a good workout in without killing myself. They will get more challenging as the program continues. I like the "building" up aspect of it. Sometimes I jump in too hard and fast and end up injuring myself...

As for the food, I really needed to get myself back into healthy habits. I ate out a lot during spring break and felt like crud when I got home. The 7 day jump start was just what I needed! I lost all of the weight (mostly water) that I came home with and then some. To say that I am pleased with the results would be an understatement.

I also jumped in and had all of the meals she recommended. I found some great new foods that are healthy that I normally wouldn't have tried! I do feel that I have "reset" my system.

The only thing that I found was that it was a bit too calorie restrictive for me. I had an active week and found myself a little light headed the first few days. I added a mid morning snack (from her list) and upped my protein. That did the trick and I felt so much better while still losing weight.

I am totally pumped for next week though. I get to add carbs back in !!!!

Thank you do much for sharing! :goodvibes I am going to look into this. I like the idea of building up on exercise.

Greek yogurt is the best for me. It's a quick and easy "go to" when I don't have a lot of time. Also, any kind of fruit and veggies that you love. I just discovered that I LOVE red pepper. (Who knew? I HATE green peppers!) Anyway, dip those in a little garlic and chive hummus and yummmmyyyyy! Maybe if you get a free moment, you could head to the store with your mom. Walk through the produce section. You might find that you find some new foods. Also, popcorn is my go to snack when I feel like I need doritos or chips or something.

How much condiments to a Subway sandwich!

Well....No. I just feel lazy sometimes and don't feel like doing it, haha. And what's really bad is I have DVD's to do at home so I don't even have to leave the house! I do need to work on that, that's for sure.

:lmao: Yep ... this is me too on some days!

Most foods, hahaha! That's how I got into this position, actually. So now (especially after losing FIVE POUNDS at my weigh-in yesterday morning!) I look up everything before I even put it in my grocery cart.

:cool1: 5 POUNDS!!!! That is wonderful! Keep up the great work!!!!!!

QOTD: The salads at Chipotle have WAY more calories than I expected! I think I'll get a burrito next time!

Not sure if or when I will get in exercise today. Maybe I'll just use today as my off day. I went down .2 from yesterday. My knees ache today so it may be good to take my rest day. I will do my 10 minute ab workout tonight as I forgot to do it the last few days.

I fell asleep on the floor of the living room last night at 7:30 and woke up at 10 and then went to bed! I was just wiped from work yesterday! My white Russian may have contributed to that too!

Going to see some friends in about 30 minutes for the afternoon. Though Ash just remembers now that she hasn't finished her homework! UGH! She wasted a whole bunch of tie watching tv and asking to play a video game!

They had first communion at church this morning and they had cake afterwards. I had a small chocolate piece and a small white piece and a tiny cinnamon roll. I'm calling that lunch. We will be having some chips and cheese flat bread this afternoon and what ever we decide to order for dinner. I need to drink some more water before going as well.

Mine were walnuts! :confused3 I was making this great salad and I wasn't measuring the walnuts thinking they were SO healthy that they couldn't be too many calories .... well, that was the reason I wasn't making too much progress a few weeks ago. Gave that salad up quickly!

Off to go for a run. Need to get it in before the day gets away from me. See you later this evening. Have a healthy day! :flower3:

Update on me. Didn't do the 3 mile race yesterday. DH and DS10 are fighting colds and it was freezing and raining. So we caught up on Alcatraz episodes. I also weighed in again today, I should have waited one more day to record, I'm down another pound. One more and I'm in the 180's. Awesome day!
I've been slacking on my workouts but I've been pretty on plan food wise this week.

Had a great afternoon with friends and then came home and did the elliptical. I didn't eat well at their house so I owed it to myself to get in a good workout! Did 40 minutes and burned 600 calories. I'm drinking lots more water the rest of the day. Time for my ab workout!

And cheaper is nice :) Does he know what he is majoring in?

Pretty much everything I love :rotfl:

Saturday night, my mom watched our boys so DH and I could go to dinner. We had 2 $25 gift cards for Olive Garden (DH won them at a Christmas party for work) and we had such a nice dinner. I didn't over do it too much, but I did have two drinks. Man, Sangria (which was heavenly) has a lot of calories~230 calories each. Yikes. Needless to say, I was over my calories yesterday so I'll be working extra hard this week!

Watching 'Too Cute' on Animal Planet before heading to bed. The puppies are soooo CUTE!!! Almost makes me wish I had a dog. Almost... :rolleyes1

My mom had that show on while I was at her house yesterday. I'd never seen it before. So cute!

Thanks everyone!! I am very proud of myself, I saw a sign today for another 5k next month in town so I have that one bookmarked too!

Good for you! It gets addicting!

I spent so much time catching up and replying, I have no time left to post for myself! I want to turn off the electronics and do some reading tonight. I'd also like to be in bed by 10. So, I will check in tomorrow while I'm at work. Have a good night!

Hey Jill,

Case is a good school ... but, yes, Penn State is cheaper. He is majoring in chemical engineering. Both schools have great engineering schools. He also got into Cornell. We are going to see them too. We haven't received their financial package yet ... but, unless they are offering something good, it will be out of his/our reach.

We LOVE Cook's Forest. We have had many picnics and slow fishing trips in a canoe down the Clarion River .... That would be a really pretty run! Maybe when I get better at running I can try that run.

Question of the day for April 2nd:

Think about your weight loss since January (or whenever you joined) and write how an objective person would view your journey?

Objective Person:

Well Fran, you started off strong! What the heck has happened? :confused3 You were exercising daily and keeping track of your food and water. Yes, yes, I know you got very busy with all the activities your children were involved in ... however, you need to put yourself first. Make time for yourself! In the long run, your children will thank you when you are at the weight that makes you happy. You can get back on track ... do it tomorrow!

(Hoping this question doesn't sound too strange everyone! :rotfl: I am trying!)

Snow White--great job!:cool1:

D73-- yahoo!

Not feeling terribly inspired today, but I did kill the peanute M&Ms so they can no longer taunt me! ;)

Just found out my walking partner can't join me tomorrow. That means I will run instead! I have time after dropping DS2 and DH off because I've blocked myself out from sub jobs. I'm getting my teeth cleaned first thing in the morning.:teeth: I'm hoping that will get me kick started/back on the wagon again. That and TOM ending should improve my mood! :upsidedow

WIN was a maintain. First time nothing has changed since I started these challenges in June. Definitely time to get busy!

Have a super week, Losers!!!

Crazy weekend! Ready for a new week though. I have a person goal to stick to calorie goal(which means tracking daily) and exercise daily(even if its just 10 minute bike ride). I want to see some weight gone by the end of May and hopefully much lower blood pressure. I doubt I could come off meds but I want it controlled better so I can exercise without the up down spikes that make me dizzy. Plus I like to enjoy outings like the trip to Payson without huffing a puffing and worrying I'll pass out(especially up there out of cell tower range) and our afternoon at the park. So over the anxiety but finally felt okay today until we went out to lunch at Chili's and all the noise was so overwhelming I took a mecalizine because I know it kinda chills me out since it makes me sleepy.

Chili's for lunch and I was still under after exercise calories. :) Had ice cream and the shrimp and one or two strips of chicken that was left from lunch for my dinner and stayed at goal but did extra cardio on the bike(for the challenge). :thumbsup2 The more I drive and start feeling the dizziness and lightheadedness and the shortness of breath that follows(even when I am not anxious over anything) the more tempted I am to apply for SSI disability income while I work on this weight and anxiety issues. I may erase some of the worries and anxiety having regular stable income.

Good morning losers and maintainers! :goodvibes

Fran, thanks so much for coaching this week! :flower3:

I'm back from my trip to AZ and calling myself caught up after this post. I did read along. Sorry I can't reply to everyone but a few things stand out in my memory. :sunny:

belledreamer, a big :woohoo: and :yay: and party: for being in ONE-derland! It's a wonderful place! Congratulations on your accomplishment! :thumbsup2

No worries! :goodvibes Have you ever heard the expression "How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time!" That's how you run a half marathon, one mile at a time, one landmark at a time, sometimes even one step at a time. As you train you will become more comfortable with what to expect and develop lots of strategies to deal with anything that comes your way. You can do it! :thumbsup2

Kayla, a big BL congratulations on your 5K! :cool1: Great job!

This is a tough one for me. I've had a great challenge actually, in spite of being injured twice. I hit ONE-derland for the first time in 20 years, finished the Tinker Bell Half :tink: and am on track to be out of the obese category by the end of the challenge. I think an objective person would say don't give up when you are so close to the prize and especially since you have two races in the next 7 weeks! :yay:

Linda, good job on the run this morning! :thumbsup2 I have been telling myself I need to get myself outside to run this week, even just one day.

Melissa, nice to see you back! :goodvibes I got a chuckle out of living where you have to drive your children to see snow . . . that's how we did it when I was growing up in CA. :rotfl:

Have a great day all! :goodvibes

What stands in the way of my workouts? ME! I stand in my own way....lazy, tired, overscheduling myself....
Do I have a legitimate reason for skipping a workout? Only when I have an injury....so hopefully that isn't too often
How could I reward myself for working out?
SHOPPING, cause once the lbs are gone, I am gonna need new clothes anyway...

A proten bar I was thinking of getting to eat the mornings before my early workouts on Saturdays. Man, that is not funny....

"Lara, what happened to your journal? Great job on the strength program, get back on it! You got past your plateou and then stopped at the next. You have an exercise goal - do you need to set another type of goal to get yourself motivated again?!"

I hope I did this multiquote thing right....
So, back to the gym today. My 30 day strength training is over, so I have to figure out what worked for me and continue on....Just over a month until Disney and the Everest Challenge!!!:cheer2:

QOTD: Well, an objective person would certainly say I could do better. My whole heart isn't in this, but I am plugging along. You guys are such an inspiration!! :grouphug: Progress has been made, including lots of non scale victories. Got a run in this morning so am off to a good start today!

Teeth are shiny clean after my trip to the dentist. Was starving because I had time to either shower or eat before I dashed off. I choose cleanliness! I'm sure the hygenist appreciated that since I'd just run 2 miles!

Have the day free and feel like I should be doing a million things. Need to focus and get to work. I've got meals planned in my mind for the week, now just need to look at the calendar and see if they will really work. There are lots of baseball games and a meeting for senior parents and a few other things going on in the evenings. That may kill my ideas, or I may just spend today putting meals together so can just warm them up later.

Better go get busy. Costco is open now so first of the month run here I come!

Well I just saw my doctor so I'll take his thoughts. I'm sure he would think I'm doing really well with the food I eat and exercise but I needed to organize it all a little better and refresh my knowledge of food as fuel--aka calories. It's all very scientific really.

Weighed myself today and I'm back down to 144. I know a lot of my weight last week was due to Tom which wasn't supposed to happen until this week, but I missed some pills...
If I had been smart, I'd weighed myself every day when I was sick to do calorie control and watch my water. But when you're sick you're just not thinking rationally I guess and I know I had a fever the first 4-5 days of it.
Getting ready to go work out. Again I won't over do it as I have to work later and I do easily tire still. The coughing is still there too.

We still need a coach for this coming week.
