Hey Jill,

Case is a good school ... but, yes, Penn State is cheaper. He is majoring in chemical engineering. Both schools have great engineering schools. He also got into Cornell. We are going to see them too. We haven't received their financial package yet ... but, unless they are offering something good, it will be out of his/our reach.

We LOVE Cook's Forest. We have had many picnics and slow fishing trips in a canoe down the Clarion River .... That would be a really pretty run! Maybe when I get better at running I can try that run.

Cornell too? Wow. I have a friend that went to Cornell and he works for Microsoft and writes programming books. He loved it there.

My brother in law said it was a really easy 1/2 marathon. It was out and back and completely flat. He had a PR by a lot. He's run the Pittsburgh half and said he could never get that time in Pittsburgh~too hilly. My sister wants to do a 1/2 in the fall somewhere so we are going to start looking. You could join us :)

Geez Jill, you are looking much healthier. I am impressed by your motivation to go to circuit training 2 times a week and spinning 1 day a week. However, I knwo how much you enjoy yoga, and you have been missing class lately. And, you better get back out there running. You want to run a 1/2 marathon in the fall, right? Find one and sign up! And, keep up with logging your food. It keeps you on track.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I am having an emotional day so I didn't go to spinning as planned and decided to spend some time with DH and my boys. It's actually pretty nice just hanging out and we are watching a movie right now. DS5 picked Free Willy 2. Sometimes I feel like we don't get to hang out and relax as a family between two full time jobs and full time school. I ate really well today and if I have time I will jump on the eliptical when the kids go to bed or do a dvd. DH has a paper due Wednesday (and of course he hasn't started), so he needs the computer tonight.
Thanks for all the well wishes for my mom and her surgery. I really appreciate all the support from total strangers to her. I am excited to be on break after Wednesday. Thursday I am planning on cleaning most of the day and visiting my mom in the hospital. I am also planning to go through all my stuff for a garage sale this summer and get everything organized (especially DSs clothes).
Neither my sister or I wanted to host Easter dinner since we don't know which day my mom will be released from the hospital and both of our husbands are on midnights this weekend. So we told our grandma and aunt to do whatever they wanted. My kids are going to go with my in-laws to DHs grandparents house in Conneaut, OH around noon. So, DH, my sister, bro-in-law, and nephew are going out to eat around 3. I am so looking forward to a relaxing Easter break. I am not looking forward to an Easter buffet. I will definitely need to be planned and prepared for this one!
I guess I will be back on tomorrow to catch up some more. Stay OP!
Jill
:wave2:
This may be my last chance to check in until next week sometime. We have to go out of town and not sure what the internet situation will be, but I suspect it will be limited as will my time.
I posted this on the WW thread because I am really trying to figure out how to manage with the crazy travel situation I am facing but would love input from others here:
Very worried about this week as I have a rather sudden trip to take and will be eating on the run where ever I can find it and/or meals fixed by others with very little input from me. :headache: In the past I loved dottis weight loss zone and had everything downloaded on my palm pilot. Now of course it is available as an app for my ipod touch so wondering if anyone has any opinions on the app? Since it is $2.99 I don't want to spend the money if it won't be useful. I won't have internet connectivity most of the time and will be eating several meals in airport or area restaurants. Are there any other apps that are useful to use while offline?
I did print off the Simply Filling list and am wondering if I should try to just stick with that (if I can ) while I am gone.
Would appreciate any advice. I don't want to undo a hard fought week and end up with a significant gain when I get home on Monday.
I had a great first week and lost 4 pounds. Already this week I am a bit high on my points and that is probably not going to improve as I eat on the go. I will probably be over on my points toward the end of the week but I want to minimize the damage as much as possible.
An objective person would definitely say I could have done much better. I've fallen off a couple times, but I have gotten back on program. This time I really think I'll be staying with it- especially since I've already bought the monthly pass from WW ;) Which means I'll be hitting the gym tomorrow since I've already paid for it too! This is my second week of training for my ToT Race...but it should really only count for my first because I didn't do much of a run Thursday last week, and I didn't do a run at all on Saturday. So disappointing! But it's a new week, so it's all good :cool1:
I'd be willing to give it a try. Although I have no idea what to ask for QOTD... But I'd give it my best shot! :)
Congratulations Christopher!! That's great! Have a wonderful vacation!
Todays QOTD: Hopefully they'd say something like "Wow! When you make a goal you are really dedicated! You have never slipped up badly once so far and your determination is awesome! You have made little excuses and even when you are tired you still push through. You have come so far in your change in diet and eating more vegetables and with your running! Keep it up for your half-marathon and maybe you will have those long-desired abs by May!" :goodvibes
Hello everyone. Thanks for all the nice comments about my 5k!
I haven't been on lately, have a bit to catch up on. I almost crashed when I got home from my 5k because I was so tired!
Took yesterday off and did my 30 day shred workout tonight and kicked some butt! I have been trying to figure out my school schedule for next year and have been sucked into the hunger games. It's really good, I wanted to read the first one so I could go see the movie. Today was really hard in terms of cravings. I had bored cravings but still ended up under my calories after my exercise so I would say today was successful. Hopefully I can get through all the posts tomorrow.
Crazy weekend! Ready for a new week though. I have a person goal to stick to calorie goal(which means tracking daily) and exercise daily(even if its just 10 minute bike ride). I want to see some weight gone by the end of May and hopefully much lower blood pressure. I doubt I could come off meds but I want it controlled better so I can exercise without the up down spikes that make me dizzy. Plus I like to enjoy outings like the trip to Payson without huffing a puffing and worrying I'll pass out(especially up there out of cell tower range) and our afternoon at the park. So over the anxiety but finally felt okay today until we went out to lunch at Chili's and all the noise was so overwhelming I took a mecalizine because I know it kinda chills me out since it makes me sleepy.
Chili's for lunch and I was still under after exercise calories. :) Had ice cream and the shrimp and one or two strips of chicken that was left from lunch for my dinner and stayed at goal but did extra cardio on the bike(for the challenge). :thumbsup2 The more I drive and start feeling the dizziness and lightheadedness and the shortness of breath that follows(even when I am not anxious over anything) the more tempted I am to apply for SSI disability income while I work on this weight and anxiety issues. I may erase some of the worries and anxiety having regular stable income.
Glad to see you are trying to work out everyday! If you can do it for 2 weeks, even if it is for 10 minutes, you can make it a habit! :goodvibes
This is a tough one for me. I've had a great challenge actually, in spite of being injured twice. I hit ONE-derland for the first time in 20 years, finished the Tinker Bell Half :tink: and am on track to be out of the obese category by the end of the challenge. I think an objective person would say don't give up when you are so close to the prize and especially since you have two races in the next 7 weeks! :yay:
Congrats on hitting ONE-derland ... and finishing the Tinker Bell Half! Those are two big accomplishments! You should be very proud. :goodvibes
You're doing great, Fran! And yes, you can get back on track today! ::yes::
Linda, good job on the run this morning! :thumbsup2 I have been telling myself I need to get myself outside to run this week, even just one day.
Melissa, nice to see you back! :goodvibes I got a chuckle out of living where you have to drive your children to see snow . . . that's how we did it when I was growing up in CA. :rotfl:
Have a great day all! :goodvibes
Well I just saw my doctor so I'll take his thoughts. I'm sure he would think I'm doing really well with the food I eat and exercise but I needed to organize it all a little better and refresh my knowledge of food as fuel--aka calories. It's all very scientific really.
I always forget to think of food this way ... but I know when I eat healthy foods I feel so much better, mentally and physically.
Weighed myself today and I'm back down to 144. I know a lot of my weight last week was due to Tom which wasn't supposed to happen until this week, but I missed some pills...
If I had been smart, I'd weighed myself every day when I was sick to do calorie control and watch my water. But when you're sick you're just not thinking rationally I guess and I know I had a fever the first 4-5 days of it.
Getting ready to go work out. Again I won't over do it as I have to work later and I do easily tire still. The coughing is still there too.
So glad you are starting to feel better!
Cornell too? Wow. I have a friend that went to Cornell and he works for Microsoft and writes programming books. He loved it there.
My oldest is a brain and an over-achiever. It is funny how children in the same house have such different personalities. :upsidedow My other two sons are good students ... but in no way want to put in the time my oldest does with school. He lives and breathes for school. I will tell him about your friend ... however we got the financial aid in the mail ... and it is not looking too good for Cornell. I am just astounded how much colleges think families can afford for college! :scared1:
My brother in law said it was a really easy 1/2 marathon. It was out and back and completely flat. He had a PR by a lot. He's run the Pittsburgh half and said he could never get that time in Pittsburgh~too hilly. My sister wants to do a 1/2 in the fall somewhere so we are going to start looking. You could join us :)
That sounds like the perfect race for me! PM me the race/day you are considering. I would love to meet you and run with you. I have never done a 1/2 marathon ... and I'm just running my first 5K at the end of the month. The only thing that could hold me back is my middle son plays football and next year will be his senior year. I don't want to miss his games.
:cool1: Way to go with the 4 pounds! The only advice I have is to drink lots of water and when I use to go to WW they suggested that every time you ordered a meal, ask for a box when your dinner arrives and always put 1/2 in the box.
An objective person would definitely say I could have done much better. I've fallen off a couple times, but I have gotten back on program. This time I really think I'll be staying with it- especially since I've already bought the monthly pass from WW ;) Which means I'll be hitting the gym tomorrow since I've already paid for it too! I am finding coaching is isn't as hard as I thought it would be. I am SO appreciative of this supportive environment that it was my turn to give a little back. :flower3:
A lot of the questions I am posting are from articles on the internet ... so, it has been educational for me too. And my question for tomorrow is actually inspired by Christoper (we are thinking of you even on your cruise! :) )
Question of the Day for Tuesday, April 3rd:
Christopher's post about clicking the airplane belt got me thinking about other signs that let you know you have lost weight BESIDES the number on the scale.
List one (or more) things/events that have changed since you lost weight.
Hi everyone!
Just a quick drive-by to check in - we were away at my MIL's this weekend (the girls are still there, spending spring break in the country!). I stayed OP with WW this weekend, although I definitely used most of my weekly points over those two days! It was really weird to drive home without DDs, but we had a double dinner date last night and a dinner/movie night at the mall tonight - not the kind of thing we can ever do on a weeknight, and on a whim!
I took Saturday off from exercise - did 30-Day Shred Friday morning and then again Sunday afternoon when we got home. This morning I went back to the C25K workouts. It was in the high 40s but sunny, and it felt pretty good outside once I got going. I'm at the point now where I'm jogging just a bit more than I'm walking, and I had an overall pace of 11:13 today - ! I'm wary of the workout a few down the line where I'll be jogging for 20 minutes straight...
Tomorrow's my commuting day, and DH and I have tickets to see my beloved Red Sox play an exhibition game at Nationals Park in DC - woo! Then a church committee meeting tomorrow night, so I don't think I'll get a workout in until Wednesday morning, but I'm pretty happy with my overall consistency on workouts. Still working on maintaining - so far, so good!
Hope everyone has a great Tuesday!
XO
I have two:
My wedding ring is getting loser! :goodvibes I had to buy this ring after I had my first son because I couldn't wear my engagement and original wedding band. I never wanted to get my two rings resized because I was determined to fit into them ... well, 18 years later .... I think I need to try them on. :goodvibes
The other sign has been a black belt that I always wear with my jeans. I use to tighten it on the second hole ... now I am down to the fourth hole! :yay:
Here we celebrate our progress and recognize our superstars.
Biggest Loser Fall Challenge Week 13!
This week’s group loss = 40.1 pounds!
Average percentage of weight lost 0.51 %
Total group weight loss so far 945.6 pounds!
AWESOME!
Retention Rate (compared to the 144 participants we had sign up for our start week on January 1st)
34% (this includes the Losers, Maintainers and Excused people!). Let's keep sending those weights people!
Before the weekly superstar list comes the disclaimer. I am human and I make mistakes. If you have any questions please contact me. For your reference this is the magic percentage of weight lost formula - weight loss for the week divided by weight for last week times 100, that gives us the percentage. Now let me test that with my numbers for week 1, click, click, click goes the calculator. Yes, that agrees with the percentage on the magic spreadsheet. (btw if its been more than 1 week between weigh-ins, then the % loss is divided by the number of weeks, to keep everybody on the same basis)
Now let's get to the good stuff. Who were our superstars of week 13?
The WISH Biggest Loser Spring Challenge Week 13 Superstars!!
#10 - 0.89% - GoofyPredsFan
Have a healthy day!
NOW FOR THOSE OF US WHO SET A GOAL FOR THE CHALLENGE!!!
NOTE: This list includes participants who have reported in within the last 3 weeks, once someone misses 3 weigh-ins they are dropped from this report.
How this works: You set your goal for what you want to lose in the challenge. Then I calculate your weight loss in the challenge divided by your goal to get a % to goal.
Anybody can change their goal at anytime (or add a goal) – all you have to do is send me a PM.
Since the goals are an individual thing, the list is just in alphabetical order to make it easier for everybody to find their own name. If there are any questions or suggestions please let me know.
We have done 13 out of 21 weeks, so the challenge is 62% complete.
I find everybody on the list an inspiration and everybody who participates in this challenge is an inspiration in and of themselves. Whether you post, lurk or just pm your weight and check results on Tuesdays, you have made a commitment to yourself. And that is the biggest inspiration of all!BY Octoberbride03
Good Tuesday morning everyone.
I tried to get on here yesterday but my computer just wouldn't cooperate. Last night I had to work an hour shift at McDonald's for McTeacher night. The National Honor Society gets a percentage of the proceeds while the teachers are working the registers. I have worked the drive through every time I have worked this fundraiser.
Tonight I have to go to a Faculty/Faculty basketball game. I am not going to play but I am cheering for the math department. We do stand a chance of winning our first round game because we are going against the guidance department. After that we don't stand a chance.
Congrats to all the biggest losers this week especially Sunshineminnie
Off to get dressed.
Have a happy and healthy day.
1. My jeans fit again so that I'm not cutting off the blood supply to my lower limbs just by putting them on:lmao:
2. I'm up a notch in my belt:)
3. I can walk halfway up the hill on my monday walk before I have to stop (before I'd only get a quarter of the way up):thumbsup2
4. I like me more than I did before:banana:
How did you find working at McDonalds? I hope you raised lots of money:thumbsup2
i've been a terrible BL participant this challenge (last challenge too but i was knocked up so that doesn't count...right?). i need to make it a rule that i sign in with you guys at least once a day. i've been falling backwards a little these last few days and i'm sure signing onto this thread will keep me better motivated and accountable.
luvpoohandcompany well if that last comment doesn't just :woohoo::yay::woohoo: then i don't know what will! saying you like you more than you did before is a great feeling and something that definitely comes from not just losing weight but eating healthier and moving more. i find that it's not necessarily the fact that the number goes down a little for me that makes me feel awesome but it's when i finish up a workout that i feel like wonderwoman.
QOTD 4/3: since the challenge started i've dropped almost 20 lbs (19.5...darn you .5!) and i've picked up my running pace slightly since then. i'm still much slower than i was last year but i'll get there with time. my jeans are finally fitting again although they are still a little tight.
46 days til my next disney trip. can't wait! i set a weight loss goal for then and i'm currently 2 lbs under the goal! i'm lowering my goal now a few pounds to keep up my motivation!
have a great OP day everyone!
First, I just feel better - when I'm moving around, when I see myself in the mirror, everything - and that seems to motivate better choices for me. I want to keep feeling like this!
More tangibly, I'm running (a little!), something I never thought I'd do. I'm doing strength workouts regularly, something I never used to do. I'm in the smallest jeans of my life, and I had to buy a beautiful new dress for a wedding this spring because everything else in my closet was too big! I "lost" half my closet to weight loss, and I'm refusing to keep any of the big stuff around as a cushion. And I'm getting compliments from people - everyone from people I barely know to my nearest and dearest. I know I did this for myself and my health and well-being, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't love hearing those compliments!
It's a beautiful but chilly morning here - so psyched for it to warm up later when we head to the ballpark. Definitely treating myself to a Five Guys cheeseburger at the game today! :thumbsup2
Happy Tuesday morning friends! Sorry I haven't been here. As I mentioned the other day, our family computer is down and my laptop died about a month ago, so we are busy fighting over my Ipad and DD's laptop!:laughing:
But I'm still here....just not much computer time lately!
I'll try to answer the QOTD before I disappear again!............P
Christopher's post about clicking the airplane belt got me thinking about other signs that let you know you have lost weight BESIDES the number on the scale.
List one (or more) things/events that have changed since you lost weight.
I FEEL SOOOOO MUCH BETTER!!!!!!!! It's really just that simple! :goodvibes
I don't dread the change of seasons, clothing wise. I used to dread having to go from a winter of jeans and oversized tops to the shorts and t's from the previous summer....because everything was too tight. I gained weight every season. But now I will often find that a beloved outfit from the previous season is too big!
I've found some styles that really suit me and I know what to look for when I go shopping....I'm not just looking for a size and style that doesn't make me feel huge. I don't dread every holiday or dress up event. I have many pretty clothes that I feel GREAT in! (now gotta work on shoes!)
Great question!.........P
WHAT HAPPENED? You started off strong even when life was tough, fell off the wagon big time in the middle and while you are making efforts to get back on you havent fully commited have you? Wake up, get back on your feet and start again!! YOU CAN DO THIS! You loved how it felt when you were eating healthy foods and exercising each day now you need to get that feeling back. DONT WAIT! Do it now! Begin again and become a Big Loser!
1. My jeans fit again so that I'm not cutting off the blood supply to my lower limbs just by putting them on:lmao:
2. I'm up a notch in my belt:)
3. I can walk halfway up the hill on my monday walk before I have to stop (before I'd only get a quarter of the way up):thumbsup2
4. I like me more than I did before:banana:
How did you find working at McDonalds? I hope you raised lots of money:thumbsup2
Those are lots of great reasons!! I could also say the one about my jeans. I used to have to ssstttrrreetttccchhh them out when I first put them on.
i've been a terrible BL participant this challenge (last challenge too but i was knocked up so that doesn't count...right?). i need to make it a rule that i sign in with you guys at least once a day. i've been falling backwards a little these last few days and i'm sure signing onto this thread will keep me better motivated and accountable.
Being pregnant doesn't count! :lmao: But the week you had that baby could have put you at the top of the Biggest Losers for the week! :rotfl: Please post with us. The people on this thread are absolutely lovely and very encouraging! Jump on board ...
luvpoohandcompany well if that last comment doesn't just :woohoo::yay::woohoo: then i don't know what will! saying you like you more than you did before is a great feeling and something that definitely comes from not just losing weight but eating healthier and moving more. i find that it's not necessarily the fact that the number goes down a little for me that makes me feel awesome but it's when i finish up a workout that i feel like wonderwoman.
I agree with this! It feels so good when I am done.
QOTD 4/3: since the challenge started i've dropped almost 20 lbs (19.5...darn you .5!) and i've picked up my running pace slightly since then. i'm still much slower than i was last year but i'll get there with time. my jeans are finally fitting again although they are still a little tight.
46 days til my next disney trip. can't wait! i set a weight loss goal for then and i'm currently 2 lbs under the goal! i'm lowering my goal now a few pounds to keep up my motivation!
That is fantastic! :cool1:
have a great OP day everyone!
First, I just feel better - when I'm moving around, when I see myself in the mirror, everything - and that seems to motivate better choices for me. I want to keep feeling like this!
More tangibly, I'm running (a little!), something I never thought I'd do. I'm doing strength workouts regularly, something I never used to do. I'm in the smallest jeans of my life, and I had to buy a beautiful new dress for a wedding this spring because everything else in my closet was too big! I "lost" half my closet to weight loss, and I'm refusing to keep any of the big stuff around as a cushion. And I'm getting compliments from people - everyone from people I barely know to my nearest and dearest. I know I did this for myself and my health and well-being, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't love hearing those compliments!
It is so nice when people are noticing. :goodvibes
It's a beautiful but chilly morning here - so psyched for it to warm up later when we head to the ballpark. Definitely treating myself to a Five Guys cheeseburger at the game today! :thumbsup2
XO
Happy Tuesday morning friends! Sorry I haven't been here. As I mentioned the other day, our family computer is down and my laptop died about a month ago, so we are busy fighting over my Ipad and DD's laptop!:laughing:
But I'm still here....just not much computer time lately!
I'll try to answer the QOTD before I disappear again!............P
We have missed you! It stinks when you computer goes down. It is amazing how much we depend on them. They are a blessing and a curse!
