How much do you sleep? What time do you go to bed?
Most nights it's about 10pm-10:30pm and I wake up between 5:30 & 6. So that's 8 hours. I feel at that amount- I STILL don't get enough LOL!

Have a happy and healthy day.

I am and always have been a night owl. Made it really tough growing up, at college, when working, etc. but it is how I am wired. I generally go to bed between 1 and 3 AM and I am up around 8:30 because I just can't sleep. It is no where near enough sleep but I just can't sleep so I get annoyed and get up! When I am diligent about my exercise, I can push it to get about 7 hours of sleep but it is usually 5-6 hours tops. :confused3

Thanks for the inspiration. It is all in the head if you are going to choose to succeed or not. Sometimes though those moments of weakness can really get you down.

It varies for me usually go to bed around 10 or 11, Thursday night is choir practice until 9:30, I come home wired and am awake until midnite. Alarm goes off at 6:15 and walk with the group at 6:30. Sometimes wake up around 4:30 or 5 and the brain starts thinking and I can't go back to sleep. End up getting up and doing stuff around the house or catch up on e mails. That makes for a long day. Probably on avg. 7 hrs. If only they were straight through without waking up!

Good monday everyone.

I get an average of 5-6 hours of good sleep. That is something I am working on, but my sons are not cooperative. I am working on getting my newborn on a good sleeping schedule. He sleeps mostly all night but he wants to go to sleep around 12am and get up at 11am. Everyday I get him up earlier and don't let him take a nap after seven pm. Since I breastfeed, I have to up at 6 or7 to do my morning walks without them waking up or noticing. They stay with there father sleeping. If not I have to take them on a walk later on and it's a challenge. Hope everyone is feeling great and looking forward to burning some fat. I want to lose big this week wish me luck.

GREAT Quote! Thanks for sharing that I've printed it and hung it up in my "cube" at work..

Good Monday morning.

I have a long day today. I leave here about 6:15 and won't get home until 5:30. We have our first math team meet today.

H all,

Sorry I have been so MIA lately! Been a rough last week. With DH starting his new job I've been doing the after school activities and trying to squeeze in meals during that time.

And to top it off, Izzie started to get sick on Friday with a bad cough and cold. I started getting it on Saturday and Ash got it yesterday. Both girls and I are home sick today and Brian is hiding downstairs away from all the germs. Both girls had fevers yesterday and Izzie was up at 4:30 barking like a seal. Ash and I did make it to church and then we did our local road race. She did the 1 mile and then I walked the 5K with a friend. I have been pretty much down for the count since then. I made myself wash all the sheets to get the germs taken care of and trying to get the other laundry done. We're watching the 1 Direction concert DVD Ashleigh bought on Friday and then we're going to watch a few more movies. We're all just wiped out. They only have a half day tomorrow and then no school on Wednesday for Yom Kippur. Gotta check temps again soon.

Hoping everyone is doing well. I'm hoping that when I start coaching at the end of the week that will help me to get motivated again. Hard to do anything with the way I'm feeling. Glad I walked the 5K yesterday at least!

Time for a nap and cuddling on the couch!

I know I don't get enough sleep and what I do get is fractured. In bed by 10pm, DH's alarm goes off at 12:30 am (it usually takes me an hour or so to go back to sleep) and mine goes off at 5am on work days. Some days I'm awake the rest of the night after his alarm goes off. On non work days I'm up anywhere from 7 to 9 am.

Of course that old change of life time is here so some nights are no sleep whatsoever. I can not sleep if it is too hot and since I feel like I am living in Jamacia right now that can certainly be a challenge. :rotfl2:

Also, I finally figured out how to place photos in my signature so I posted a small before and after duo. The first one is at AKL almost three years ago and the second one is after a race I ran a few weeks ago.
What a transformation! The amount of work you put in to succeed in your weight loss is amazing!

I know there's been some mention of eating gluten free. Going GF is one of the best decisions I have ever made! I feel so much healthier. My stomach and I get along much better. It's still not great because I have Crohn's disease, but I know which one is making me sick and it's certainly worth it to only be sick from Crohn's and not both.
CC- thanks for all the info. My aunt has Crohn's and has gone GF this past year. It seems to be making a difference for her.

Question of the Day

When do you like to exercise? What works best for you?

Have a happy and healthy day.[/QUOTE]
Thanks, Dona!
I like evening exercise - an hour or so after dinner. In the summer it's great, because I can go out at 8pm and have enough light for an hour walk/run/bike. I truly wish I could get myself out of bed in the morning to exercise - I am not a morning person, but I think it would be good to get moving before going to a desk job all day. When I have tried to do morning exercise, I've felt a little stiff and low energy. I may try it again - we'll see.

So, I have a question for you all and could really use some help. We leave for WDW in just under 2 weeks. I am really worried about ruining all my hard work, but also want to enjoy my time. Eating out is always one of the fun parts of our vacation. What do you all do and how do you manage when you go to WDW? I know I probably won't lose weight, but I would really like to maintain for the week. We are typically eating in our room for breakfast, lunch counter service and sit down dinner. I know one of the helpful things of my diet plan is fruit and veggies. How do I make sure I get enough there without it costing a fortune? Thanks for your help!
I don't really focus on calories and exercise when we are on vacation. I have a fairly small stomach/appetite, so it's difficult for me to overeat - at least not repeatedly. That's not to say I don't consume a lot more calories on vacation, but at least it's not a crazy amount.
I try to incorporate vegetables and fruits - most places let the adults order the grapes or carrots instead of fries. We don't usually get dessert at the restaurant (not dining plan folks), so we may have a snack or treat later instead. To save money and calories, I will bring breakfast foods for the room - meal replacement bars, dry cereal - then buy milk and bananas for the room. I will also bring dried fruit and veg from home. Target has these amazing freeze-dried peas - not salt or other ingredients - just peas. They are crunchy, have the expected pea flavor, and are a good source of fiber and protein.
We are very active at Disney - lots of walking, so I don't usually schedule exercise. If I'm in training for a race I will try to get one run in.

I do not get enough sleep! We set the alarm for 6:30am. I try to be in bed at 11pm, but it doesn't often happen. Then it takes me a little while to fall asleep, so I am probably averaging 6.5 hours per night. I might have to start doing something more drastic, like an alarm at 10:30 every night to start getting ready for bed.

Happy MOnday to my friends! Hope everyone is well and healthy today!

Busy weekend here with house projects and a family trip to the movies on Saturday to see Finding Nemo in 3-D... and we brought along DS's new girlfriend! She seems nice and is very pretty.

Ate too much popcorn and M&M's at the movies, but that is my usual MO for a movie afternoon. oh well.

Waiting for it to warm up a bit here before I go out and slap another coat of paint on the trim. It is far too cold right now! I hung two loads of laundry a little after 7 am and my fingers nearly froze!

DD decided to deal with her "situation" with swim team with some humor and made a short music video about being alone on her team. I'll post a link if anyone is interested in seeing it. You kind of need to understand the situation of the fact that EVERYONE in her age group has left the team. We have lost about 25 kids since the summer season ended and fall season started. Anyhow, the video is kind of funny and sad at the same time... and I have a "cameo" appearance (I play the part of her Mom ;) ).

I am hoping to find a bit of time for scrapping after I am done painting today. I have already folded and put away 3 loads of clean laundry, hung two loads on the clothes line, and did some picking up around the house. I have minimal meal planning to worry about, as DH is going to be gone for a good portion of the week, so I won't worry about big family meals. I HATE cooking and I take his time away as my "cooking vacation"! :stir:

I found some great insights in my new Bible Study book that I mentioned last week. I can't wait to get a chance to share them with you all.

Off to call my Mom. Dad starts his radiation treatments today and I want to wish them good luck (although I don't know what time the appointment is.... they may already be gone).

Reading a good blog about living with less (in fact, I think that may be the title of it) so off to read for a bit while I finish my coffee...:surfweb: TTYL.....................P
Hope your dad is doing well. I'd love to see DD's video. It's nice that she chose a creative outlet for her situation. :)

Question of the Day
Today Fall begins. What do like to do to stay healthy in the fall?

Long walks in the sunny but cooler fall weather. Next weekend I'm hopeful to do a nature walk with DD. Local apples. For some reason I'm better about actually cooking. This weekend we made lowfat pumpkin biscuits and then cornmeal pancakes for breakfasts. I also tried a new recipe for chicken breasts (was awesome! I will have to post in the recipe thread later). And DD helped me prepare a delicata (heirloom) squash. We sliced it, she helped scoop the seeds and put a little brown sugar on it, then put it in the oven. I'm pleased that DH and DD both ate it. I was just invited to a business lunch today, which is nice, but I was actually looking forward to my healthy leftovers and then running an errand or two on my break. Oh well.

Well, if my DH is home then I try to get to bed by around 9:30 or so and get up at 5:30...if he is not then it is more like 11 when I get to settle in. I don't sleep well however...I usually sleep a couple hours then am up for a couple hours tossing and mind racing trying to figure out how many more hours I have to sleep :rotfl:

I wish I slept more peacefully but have never been able to get my mind to quiet down...

Hi, everyone! I just got back in from my run/walk (a little more running every time). I know there are a few other Sherlock/Doctor Who fans on this board, so I thought I'd share my immensely silly (but so far successful) motivation strategy for working out.

It started when a friend sent me one of those someecards as a joke when I told him I was trying to get fit again. It said, "I work out because I know I would've been the first to die in the Hunger Games."

Once I stopped laughing, I realized I could probably come up with a bunch of examples from other things I like. Basically they're all along the lines of, "You just never know when you'll need to:

- chase down a cab containing a serial killer (Sherlock)
- bet your friend that you can spontaneously run the New York City marathon tomorrow (How I Met Your Mother) :lmao:

or outrun:
- the zombie apocalypse (The Walking Dead)
- evil plastic mannequins brought to life, the Silence, the Weeping Angels (Doctor Who)
- Death Eaters (Harry Potter)
- Reavers (Firefly)

Like I said, it's unbelievably goofy. But it's consistently been getting me through one more interval of running than I managed on my previous workout day, so what do I care? :thumbsup2

Question of the Day: How much do you sleep? What time do you go to bed?

I usually aim for around 7 hours, going to bed at 1 am and getting up at 8. It's hard to go to bed earlier, because I don't get home from classes until nearly 9 pm and the late evenings are the only time I have with my OH (and even then, I'm still usually doing homework).

Have a happy and healthy day.

My alarm goes off at 6 am and I am asleep anywhere from 8:30-11 depending on how I am feeling. I've been falling asleep on the early side lately. I try to get 8 hours of sleep a night. If I don't, I am not a nice person :mad:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sorry I've been MIA. DH was off this weekend, so we tried to enjoy family time. We saw Finding Nemo 3d and went to Pittsburgh Aviary on Saturday. Then, DH convinced me we needed to go to Wheeling, WV after the aviary to go to Cabela's. The kids enjoyed it, but the 2 hour drive home wiped me out.
I had plans for spinning today, but DH just texted me and wants to take the kids to the lake (our lake is very low and you can walk to areas that are normally islands). He thinks the kids will like it (which they will), but it ruins my exercise plan. DS9 has drum lessons tonight, so I won't have time to get a workout in. Maybe I'll jog around the lake if I can. Just because DH is off today, he's screwing up my plans. Typical man :rotfl:
I hope everyone is doing well. I'll have to go back to read and catch up on pages later. Have a good Monday.
Jill
I used to exercise in the evening because DH had the car all day. Now I prefer to do it in the morning.
I try to be in bed at 10:15; that's when the weather comes on! I get up at 5:15 AM and MWF meet people for a 3 mile walk or TT take my stretching class. 15 years ago if you'd told me I'd be doing that I'd have laughed in your face. Can't believe I love being up so early!
I am the biggest doctor who fan so I am going to try to think of this on my run tonight. I can see how it would help you to push through the last little bit.
When do I like to workout???
Well I am soooooooo not a morning person so I loved to be able to stop by the gym on my way home from work....I drive right past it everyday! We have been so busy with kid practices and games that I have not been able to get back on a good schedule and feet are still recovering from my Disneyland adventure so.....still trying to figure out when to fit it in.
After work really puts me on a guilt trip as I then don't get home until going on 7 and some days there is dinner and others not. I feel like I should be home as soon as I can when the kids are home to help get lives organized so tend to put off my "me" time....
Most nights it's about 10pm-10:30pm and I wake up between 5:30 & 6. So that's 8 hours. I feel at that amount- I STILL don't get enough LOL!
I just realized that mine is anywhere from 5.5 -6.5 hours. I am usually in bed by 10PM, but not always asleep. I typically get up at 4:25AM. Sigh. Maybe it was better NOT realizing....:rolleyes1
HEY I JUST REALIZED I'M A DIS VETERAN!!:lmao::lmao:
:rotfl2::rotfl2: Yay, you!!!
Boot camp this AM, then 2.5 hours walking tonight. Spin tomorrow instead of a run because my feet are still a little sore!! :thumbsup2
Hi everyone!
I've done some catch-up skimming/reading - you guys are awesome and prolific! :)
The sleep question really hits home for me. I struggle All. The. Time. with getting enough sleep. I typically get between 4-7 hours a night. I know. Depending on the day of the week (whether I'm commuting or telecommuting), I'll be up between 5 and 7. When the kids go to bed, I get to work on the laptop, catching up on some work, some non-work things that just didn't fit into the day. DH and I both do this, watching DVR'd shows as entertainment at the same time. It's a very rare night that I get to bed before midnight, but I'm resolving to make a better effort at this.
Might not be this week, though - it's crazy around here! DH and I fly to Orlando early Friday morning - without the kids! - for a Food & Wine, hotel review, ToT 10-Miler weekend. I can't wait. I have one short training run left between now and the race on Saturday night. This will be my first 10-mile race, my first Disney race, and only my second race ever. I have the butterflies, but I'm also feeling really ready!
Hope everyone has a great week!
XO
Liz
Trying to catch up on posts here:
How much sleep? I'm not a big sleeper. I can fall asleep very easily (most of the time), but msot of the time I don't stay asleep. I usually get about 4-6 hours of sleep a night. If I get more than that, I'm groggy all day. I usually say I'm going to bed around 10-11, but it's more like midnight-1 before I actually get to bed. And I get up anywhere from 4:30 - 7:00, depending on the day.
When do I like to work out? I prefer to work out in the morning, but it just depends on what my day is like and where I'm working. Tomorrow's plan is to go running in the morning since I don't need to be at my client's until 8:45.
