Biggest Loser 8 Fall Challenge -- for losers and maintainers!

Monday QOTD: Tell Us About Your Pets.

We have one 16-yr. old black long hair cat, Worf. We are very fortunate he allows us to live in his home, sleep in his bed, and give him the adulation he clearly deserves.

Maria :upsidedow
:rotfl: Sounds like a normal cat-loving family!

Love yesterday's qotd and hearing and seeing everyone's pets. 50s Jayne, you are amazing to take in all of those little kitties. They are beautiful.

Pjlla- I laughed when you talked about your daughters guinea pigs. I think we're in the honeymoon phase with ours still.

We have a guinea pig named Fredward. You can call him fred, freddie, anything with fred in it is my son's rule. We got him last winter, when I couldn't take the "can I get a dog?" any more. He's very cute, and we sit him in our laps on a blanket when we watch tv, and I really like him so much more than I expected. He squeaks and squeals when we wake up, or open the fridge wanting some lettuce. Hope the cuteness lasts the 7-8 years of his life expectancy.:rotfl:

He's also a red sox fan.

Thanks lisa for the encouragement yesterday- and you are right. I can do it. I am back on track.

Tigger813- thought of you and did 45 min of wii last night, and thought of you again this morning when I wanted to hit the snooze, but I got up and did 30 min.

Jennz- I hope you are feeling better real soon.

I love the support and inspiration you guys all give to each other and to me. It really does help so much to get back on the right track.

Hang in there everyone and keep up the great work!! We all can do this as long as we don't give up.

Have a great day.:)

LOVE the GP picture. I just got some that I ordered from Walgreen's to scrapbook for DD. I should post them.... they are "swimming" in the bathtub in the pictures.

The GPs definitely grew on us. But we ended up moving them from DD's room down to the family office mainly because they were making DD's room messy and stinky (she doesn't clean them often enough) and we were concerned that they weren't getting enough attention. At least in the office we are walking by them several times a day and someone (usually me) will stop and check their water, hay, grain, etc. Plus it is easier for me to quickly bring them a handful of veggies when I'm making supper. And I become aware of the stink-factor more quickly and can take care of it.

Jayne.... we had a kitty who started out named "Tofty" but later in life ended up with the name "China", so I love that name! She was unofficially renamed by DB's girlfriend because the kitty was getting older and thinner and it was decided that she was getting fragile, like china. That was her name for the remaining 8-ish years of her life! She lived a good long life... we got her as a kitten in 1976 (yup, I'm old!) and my Mom had her euthanized when she got really sick in about 1994!! My Mom called me at work the day it was happening and we both SOBBED over the phone to each other. Anyhow, just commenting on the name China!!

I'm debating between a workout here at home right now, or a workout at the Y tonight. If I work out here, then I can just drop DD off at the Y and not hang around, which would be a nice change. But then I am wasting some precious home cleaning (and Dising) time. If I wait and workout tonight, at least I can spend more time cleaning DS's room, etc today. Actually, the more I think about it, I think I will hit the treadmill after I am done here and then I don't have to think about exercise for the rest of the day!! The mess in DS's room will wait!!

Well... I don't have anything left to say for today! Pretty shocking for a blabber mouth like me I suppose! Have a great Tuesday everyone!......P

Decided to do the 2 mile WATP this morning as my congestion is just so bad this morning. Coughed through most of it so definitely wouldn't have been able to handle Jillian this morning. Will do another Watp later and definitely some Wii Fit. I didn't do it yesterday and really missed it!

Redwalker, I'm off the couch today! I'm going to miss our walk this week! Praying for it to NOT rain on Saturday!

Yes, I love Jillian Michaels! She really kicks my butt! I do her workouts on Verizon on demand!

Just did over 50 minutes on the Wii Fit including 30 minutes of free step! I hope to do another workout later plus mow our lawn! Congestion is clearing up so I may try Jillian or the 3 mile WATP!

I just spent over an hour multi-quoting and replying to everyone, but sometime in the middle of it the internet connection must have been lost. When I went to post it, I had to log back in and then it told me it couldn't post because I had logged in since the page loaded! Aaarrrgggghhh!

I've had that happen many times because my wireless internet for the laptop gets cut off when the phone rings
Here's what I do to save myself the headaches.
Right before I submit a long post, I select the entire post (click and drag from beginning to end to highlight it all. Then hold Ctrl button and push C (to copy what's written). Then if something goes wrong, just get log back in, go to the thread, start a new post, and instead of typing it again, just do Ctrl-V (hold Ctrl button and push V) to paste it back in.
Hopefully that makes sense and helps you or somebody else. :flower3::upsidedow

Sara, that is a bummer when you lose a post -- it always happens when it is a long one! ::yes:: What, LuvBaloo, says that she does works for me too. Copy so you can paste if the computer messes up.

All those bad pc smilies put me over the 25 limit -- didn't even know there was such a thing. :confused3

Hey guys! I don't post much but I am still in with you on the challenge. I have lost 20 pounds since 9/2/2009. As for my pets, I have three. I have a dog, Maggie which is a half poodle, half cocker spaniel. Then two cats, from the pound, which are just now getting to like me after 3 years. LOL. I can pet them now. Yeah!

You may not post much, but you've done a great job so far! I recall you've been our biggest loser, too. :thumbsup2

Here are some pictures of our pets. This is Wally (named after Wallace i.e. Wallace and Grommit).

Next, we have our dog, Sadie.
IMG_1674.jpg

We named her Sadie (like Sadie Hawkins) because she chose us.

Both Sadie and Wally came from the shelter, like all of our pets, except Peple.

And, last but not least, Peple the party turtle.
IMG_1665.jpg
We call him Peple the party turtle because we decorate a lot for the holidays and always make sure Peple has different decorations for the season.

We've been married so long that this is our "second generation" of pets since we were married.

I've enjoyed hearing about everyone's pets -- that was a great QOTD!

Did 35 minutes on the Wii Fit this morning. Will have to add something after work to get my 60 minutes for the day. I've lost 3 pounds but unfortunately they were the 3 pounds that I gained over the week-end from sitting around with the swine flu. Hopefully, I can take off a couple more and post a loss this week!

Have a great day all!

Wow, I loved hearing about everyone's animals! We have quite a variety among us!

Thanks to everyone for the advice about copying and pasting for long messages. I need to learn to be more computer savvy! My computer is acting a little screwy now, the font is weird and the spacing is all wrong. Maybe I've thrown it on the floor one too many times!

50sjayne I'm in Bloomington, so very close to your relatives! DH just had a meeting in Pekin last week at the Dragon Dome, and we go to Peoria once in a while to go shopping or out for dinner.

tigger813 Glad you're starting to feel a little better. This thing is taking forever to get over! I'm on antibiotics for the strep, but having a cold on top of it really sucks! I've been banished to the couch for the last 3 nights because the swelling in my throat is causing me to snore. At least since I work the next several nights I can sleep in my own bed during the day while DH is at work!

Worfiedoodles I'm one of those get on the scale everyday kind of people too, but I've been eating so bad the past couple weeks that I'm scared to get on! I didn't even weigh in this past week! It's the first week I've missed a WW meeting since joining in May. That's probably why I'm having so much trouble getting re-focused.

Tuesday QOTD: What is one thing you can commit to do today (or tomorrow if you're reading this late) that will help you in your weight loss journey?

I'm going to drink my 8 glasses of water today. I never drink enough, and I've been sick for well over a week and having a terrible time shaking it. I'm hoping if I try pushing some fluids it will help me start feeling better and help get my weight going in the right direction.

whoops, i'm falling behind!

Tuesday QOTD: What is one thing you can commit to do today (or tomorrow if you're reading this late) that will help you in your weight loss journey?

journaling, journaling, journaling...EVERY DAY

Tuesday QOTD:

I can commit to working out (already did it) and drinking my water which has become habit to me now! I'll get extra workout time in when I mow the lawn in a few minutes!

Good for you, Mikamah! When I don't workout I feel lousy! And I imagine Jillian yelling at me! Don't want to feel her wrath!

Tuesday QOTD: What is one thing you can commit to do today (or tomorrow if you're reading this late) that will help you in your weight loss journey?
I'm committing to a good workout today, no unhealthy snacks, and 8 glasses of water. Okay, I guess that's 3 things.

I need to commit to better food choices I guess. Just because it's in my cal range doesn't make it ok. Also, I need to eat more during the day and less at night. I usually eat less for lunch and more at night so I can (most of the time) eat what my family is in smaller portions. I read that's not good. I do eat RIGHT after I workout though so does that make it ok? Am I still burning cals like they say?

Well... I sort of already did it. I got on the TM with the intention of doing just 30 minutes, but I pushed myself to do 50 (alternating flat and full incline every three minutes at 4.0). I hated doing it, but I was pleased with myself when I was done.

I just finished a full glass of V-8 juice to get rehydrated and take the edge off my hunger before lunch. The kids grabbed the low sodium instead of the high fiber at the store and I don't like the taste as well, but I will get through the bottle.

I might end up with a Lean Cuisine for lunch. I rarely eat them, but I bought a few on sale and I am sick of seeing them sit in the freezer.

Be back later.............P

Tuesday QOTD: What is one thing you can commit to do today (or tomorrow if you're reading this late) that will help you in your weight loss journey?

I am going to commit to getting back into the gym at least 3 times per week! I did REALLY well the beginning of this month, but only went one time last week! The hardest part of doing this is that I've been losing without going to the gym!! Although I know it's the best thing for me, I know I will gain for the first week..UGH! 24 Hour Fitness, here I come!!!

Tuesday QOTD: What is one thing you can commit to do today (or tomorrow if you're reading this late) that will help you in your weight loss journey?

I will commit to making sure at some point today I will do at least 30 minutes of exercise. I usually work out in the morning but I didn't but I'm not going to make that my excuse to not work out at all.

Hi everyone!

Just kind of lurking the last couple of days...crazy busy and trying to get through everything.

I started back on WW on Saturday and trying to get back into the whole routine of that.

Journal! I make better choices when I have to write down that point value and go..hmm...can I make a healthier choice?? :)

Tuesday QOTD: What is one thing you can commit to do today (or tomorrow if you're reading this late) that will help you in your weight loss journey?

Today I am going to exercise for 30min while watching BL. That will probably not happen until 9pm, but better late than never.:goodvibes

Tuesday QOTD: What is one thing you can commit to do today (or tomorrow if you're reading this late) that will help you in your weight loss journey?

I've already done 3M on the TM, so I'm going to commit to 30 min of strength training tonight during BL. I need to be doing it 3 times a week, but I've just been managing 2. I'm committing to upping it to 3 times each week.

Love the Red Sox guinea pig! OMG, everyone's pets are so cute!!! Fantastic QOTD!

Well, I already did it today - 3 mile WATP. And, I'm journaling all my food since I always make better choices when I'm held accountable!

I just finished the 3 mile WATP! I did the 2 mile this morning! Think I'll actually sit and relax during BL! Maybe some water and lite popcorn!

Everyone enjoy tonight!

Tuesday QOTD: What is one thing you can commit to do today (or tomorrow if you're reading this late) that will help you in your weight loss journey?

Today I'm pretty sure I'll be using some flex points (why is that so psychologically challenging??) and I will do my killer core balance ball workout after my meeting tonight.

I did not sabotage my workout this morning by having fast food for lunch when DH went out at noon. :thumbsup2
