Biggest Loser 8 Fall Challenge -- for losers and maintainers!

Hey guys! I don't post much but I am still in with you on the challenge. I have lost 20 pounds since 9/2/2009. As for my pets, I have three. I have a dog, Maggie which is a half poodle, half cocker spaniel. Then two cats, from the pound, which are just now getting to like me after 3 years. LOL. I can pet them now. Yeah!

We leave in 20 days! I just tried on my 16 capris that I so want to wear. I could wear them, but not to Crystal Palace. I still have 3 weeks to buckle down. Another 5 pounds and they will be fine. I can do it. I want to be comfortable, yet, I'd rather not wear clothes that are a little loose where I won't be reminded to stop eating.

Yes, you can! :thumbsup2 Size 16 pants and being smaller than you have in 4 years, that sounds like something to celebrate! Your trip will be here before you know it!

Hi all...just saying hi...I have done nothing...no exercise no eating nothing...I have bronchitis :( will check back in later

, jennz. Hope that you are feeling better soon.

I am feeling some really renewed motivation for my weight loss journey, since my big loss on Friday. I wish I could share this feeling with those of you who are struggling right now. If I could, I would bottle it up and send you each a portion of it! Of course, it would be calorie-free and taste great!!

Wouldn't that be great?!? ;)

I find that committing myself here has really helped. Plus I have been doing the monthly exercise challenges here on the WISH board and they really help keep me motivated. Thanks so much to Goldcupmom for hosting these every month!! If you need some additional exercise motivation, trying joining up next month.... especially if you are the kind of person who likes a challenge!!

I just started the exercise challenge this month. I really like it because exercise is my real issue. I am working very, very hard on exercise for the next 60 days and the daily accountability seems to help -- especially when you see folks like tigger813 who is working out even when she is sick and pjlla who is working out 90 minutes. :cheer2:

Good Morning,

I am actually happy on a Monday! Shocking, I know!
I finally got into a good exercise and eating grove this weekend! I exercised Fri, Sat and Sun!:cool1: Plus I have a workout scheduled for today too! I think it helped that I got my house organized. Now I can actually find things! :rotfl2:

So, a bit of sad news. Did any of you here about the deaths in Arizona due to the sweat lodges? A woman from MN died Saturday night and it turns out to be my personal trainer's mom.:sad1: I am sad for her. Her mom was only 49! My trainer is the best!!!! I am hoping their is something I can do, to help here through this.

I hope everyone has a Magical Monday!pixiedust:

Molly :disrocks:

That is so sad about your trainer's mom. :sad1:

Happy Monday everyone!!
Well I had my first cheat day yesterday (Sunday) in nearly a year, and THOROUGHLY enjoyed it!! I don't feel guilty at all as it is a once in a blue-moon sort of treat. I actually ate a donut (haven't had one in OVER a year) and it was as good as I thought it was going to be :lmao:

That said, I am back on track. I definitely needed that day as the temptation was growing so strong, it felt good to eat and now it was kinda like..eh..no biggie.

I really enjoy my new healthy lifestyle and don't miss all the good "junk" I thought I missed!

That was a smart idea just gving into the temptation right away and getting it behind you. :yay:

Thanks, Shannon, for reminding me about sending in my weigh in info. :)

I will come back when I am home to answer the QOTD because of course I want to share my pet pics, too. 50sjayne, I always like seeing all of your happy, pampered kitties. :cat:

I just had a delicious SmartOnes for lunch -- Veggie MiniPizzas -- 5 WW points. The veggies are roasted and very, very tasty. It is also one of the SmartOnes where you get two servings in one box so I get to have them for lunch tomorrow, too. :thumbsup2

I am happy to say DS got to go to school today. He was happy about it, too. He was getting very bored being under quarantine.

Hey All!! Sorry I haven't been around I have been really struggling this last week to get back into a workout and healthy eating routine. I did workout this morning so that's a start and I have to get back onto journaling. I have been terrible with that as of late!! I really don't want to lose all the momentum I had before my trip but it seems to be slipping through my fingers and I can't do anything to stop it!!! UGHH!!!! Anyways any tips on how to get back on the wagon would be greatly appreciated!!! My weigh in day is Monday so I'm hoping for a great start this week!!! I'm definitely getting back to working out and drinking my water!!

Anyways enough of my pity party...

Monday QOTD: Tell us about your pets.

We have two gorgeous and spoiled rotten cats!! Vicky is the princess and she makes sure everyone knows she rules the house LOL!! Mush (we call her Mushy, named while we were in Alaska in honor of the Iditarod) is a gray fat cat who is a headbutter and definitely her daddy's kitty.

Monday QOTD: Tell us about your pets.

Right now we have two cats Smokey and Pippen. They are sisters and 1 is fat and the other is skinny. We also have a dog but it is really my son's dog (yeah right) he got it from his girlfriend as a graduation from college present.. They did ask us. As we sit down to dinner after his graduation ceremony they tell us they have something to ask us. Now they had been dating for 3 years at that time. Ds was the same age as we were when we got married. Then they asked us about the dog. It was definitely an easier question to answer. Of course we had to say yes. But it hads really become the family dog and when she leaves dh will be very sad.

Wow, Tammy! - 20 pounds since September 2! Congratulations - that's quite a loss!

Monday QOTD: Tell us about your pets.

We have 4 cats, a dog and a turtle. ETA: They are all crazy in their own ways. Except maybe the turtle.

Good morning everyone! I have a busy day ahead. I'll be back this afternoon to read everyone's weekend posts, but for now...

Monday QOTD: Tell us about your pets.

Right now, we are back down to just one dog, Clifford. She's the same age as my middle DD, 8, and she has a boy's name because DS was 3 and obsessed with Clifford the Big Red Dog when we got her. She's a chocolate lab/springer spaniel mix and we've had her since she weaned. She is the best dog I've ever known, very patient with the kids, a real homebody to the point that even when they forget to close the gate she doesn't go further than our own front porch, and just very sweet tempered. This is her with DS the week we brought her home:

We also had a black lab/malamute mix named Junior (Clifford Jr. - my kids aren't terribly creative with pet names :rotfl:) until a few months ago, but even after having him fixed and repairing several weak sections of fence, he was still getting out of the yard to run. He even broke a couple of tie-out chains rated for 100lb dogs (he is about 55lbs)! Since we couldn't contain him and he obviously wasn't getting the exercise he needed even with me walking him and the kids playing in the yard with him, we ended up letting a family friend take him home over Labor Day weekend. Our friend has a place up north with 50-some acres and he is training Junior to hunt. We miss him, but I'd rather be missing him now and visiting him over the summer than mourning him because he got run over on one of his escapes. :sad1:

Monday QOTD: Tell Us About Your Pets.

We have one 16-yr. old black long hair cat, Worf. We are very fortunate he allows us to live in his home, sleep in his bed, and give him the adulation he clearly deserves.

OK, I'm better now.

I just spent over an hour multi-quoting and replying to everyone, but sometime in the middle of it the internet connection must have been lost. When I went to post it, I had to log back in and then it told me it couldn't post because I had logged in since the page loaded! Aaarrrgggghhh!

Well, I went out to eat with my parents and some of my mom's relatives Sat. night, and my mom came home with me and stayed til today. She took me out to lunch when I took her home too. I think she's trying to sabotage my diet! I must do better! I seriously need a couple weeks of no special occasions and no eating out! Only 38 more days til WDW! I work 6 out of the next 7 days, so hopefully that will help get me back on track!

I need to go make dinner now since it's almost bedtime and I'm still fighting with the computer. At least my poor neglected children managed to get their homework done before dinner for once. I guess the secret to that is not feeding them til after 8! (They did each have a sweet tea and some ice cream after school, so I guess they won't starve to death!) DH is working til 11 tonight, and that always throws off my routine.

Yay - got in 3 miles on WATP today! And, all of my strength training exercises. :cool1: After a crappy week last week - I feel totally recommitted to make all my goals this week! I set personal goals - how many miles, how much exercise, how many calories per day, etc. Hoping that this helps me reach my goal of a 1.5 to 2 lb. weight loss this week. :thumbsup2

We have two pooches -- Disney and Koko. They are both a little over 5 years old. Disney is our tricolor Miniature Australian Shepherd (or Mini American Shepherd - since there's really nothing australian about the breed) and Koko is our Australian Shepherd mix (aka: lovable mutt) - although we think there's more Border Collie in her - but don't know for sure. We picked up Koko from a rescue when she was about 5 months old. We were told she, her Mom, and all her sibs had been abandoned on the side of the road in rural Southern Virginia. Both our girls are the sweetest dogs in the world (just a little biased) - they love kids, love people and get along with most other animals. We absolutely love our girls!

.

Oh drives me crazy. I so want to whip the computer when that happens.

Me - I'm a dog person with two cats. :lmao: Don't ask. It's called a big heart.

But cats really teach you about life. You can't not lead them - control them - limit their wants - make them love you. So so interesting.

Oooh, I love this QOTD! I am such a pet person. I always say, we do not have kids yet, but we do have pets. They are family members.
I have 2 dogs - a golden retriever named Jezebel who's 3, and a pomeranian named Teddy who's 12.
I also have 3 cats: Halo (age 7), and the brothers: Mr. Inara and Archduke Fluffypants III.
I'm serious about those names.
The last two are boy kittens rescued before their eyes were open, then we took them shortly after that. We were told it was a boy and girl (hence why there is a "Mr." in front of Inara's name). We call Archduke Fluffypants III "Duke". There was never a first or second; DBF just thought it would be funny and it sort of stuck.
maybe i will find some pictures and post them...

I've had that happen to me before so now what I do is just write stuff (if there's a lot and I don't want to retype it) on the wordpad before posting it. I did that with the quotes for the board too, just had to type the people's name- helped me get to know peoples screen names too.

And lol about the kids and their homework. I just noticed you are from Illinois---I'm originally from Pekin (of chink rink fame) but most of my relatives are in Peoria.

Inara as in Inara Serra or Inara of Hittite-Hurrian mythology? My mom had kittens that my brother named before they were accurately sexed. They were All My Children based names - Edmund, Natalie, Angelique and Dmitri. Except it ended up that Edmund was the only one with the right name. Angelique became Tadalique, Natalie became Natalique (not sure how that made it a masculine name) and then there was Miss Dmitri. Sooo silly. Everyone but Tadalique and Edmund got adopted out and renamed. My mom still has those two brothers, though!

Incidentally, 50sjayne, I think the turtle is probably crazy, too!

My life pretty much revolves around my animals (it's sad -and it's happy)
Here they are:

Pippin and Robin

Minerva, Kim and Magnus
They are all rescues except the big horse "Guinness"

Inara as in Inara Serra or Inara of Hittite-Hurrian mythology?

Um, I think we got the name from a Joss Whedon show that was cancelled - "Serenity" (maybe "Firefly" is more well-known? Same characters). I just thought the name was pretty. :)

I think it's happy. Definitely happy. I totally understand. :)

For me getting back into gear, means I have to tell myself why I want to lose weight and then pick one thing to do the next day (drink the water, or journal, or eat a good lunch) and then something else to start doing again the next day.

:badpc: :badpc: :badpc: :badpc: :badpc: :badpc: :badpc: :badpc: :badpc: :badpc: :badpc: :badpc: :badpc: :badpc: :badpc: :badpc: :badpc: :badpc: :badpc: :badpc:

I've had that happen many times because my wireless internet for the laptop gets cut off when the phone rings
Here's what I do to save myself the headaches.
Right before I submit a long post, I select the entire post (click and drag from beginning to end to highlight it all. Then hold Ctrl button and push C (to copy what's written). Then if something goes wrong, just get log back in, go to the thread, start a new post, and instead of typing it again, just do Ctrl-V (hold Ctrl button and push V) to paste it back in.
Hopefully that makes sense and helps you or somebody else. :flower3::upsidedow

Getting back on the exercise wagon today. I took Sunday off and then most of yesterday until I went to my Irish Step class last night. I will be doing Jillian's 30 Day Shred after I put DD1 on her bus. Then I will get DD2 ready for preschool and take her and then come home to do the 2 or 3 mile WATP. Haven't decided what we'll eat for supper yet. Crazy night with soccer practice at 5:15.

Feeling better than yesterday though the congestion is still there.

Have a great day everyone!

I'm one of those people who gets on the scale every day -- I've been stuck at the same weight for 3 days -- doing my workouts and eating within my ww pts., but I think I'm eating too many carbs. I need to do something to shake it up, I want my loss this week! On the bright side, at least it hasn't gone up for the last 3 days...

Love yesterday's qotd and hearing and seeing everyone's pets. 50s Jayne, you are amazing to take in all of those little kitties. They are beautiful.

Pjlla- I laughed when you talked about your daughters guinea pigs. I think we're in the honeymoon phase with ours still.

We have a guinea pig named Fredward. You can call him fred, freddie, anything with fred in it is my son's rule. We got him last winter, when I couldn't take the "can I get a dog?" any more. He's very cute, and we sit him in our laps on a blanket when we watch tv, and I really like him so much more than I expected. He squeaks and squeals when we wake up, or open the fridge wanting some lettuce. Hope the cuteness lasts the 7-8 years of his life expectancy.:rotfl:
_MG_5348.jpg

He's also a red sox fan.

Thanks lisa for the encouragement yesterday- and you are right. I can do it. I am back on track.

Tigger813- thought of you and did 45 min of wii last night, and thought of you again this morning when I wanted to hit the snooze, but I got up and did 30 min.

Jennz- I hope you are feeling better real soon.

I love the support and inspiration you guys all give to each other and to me. It really does help so much to get back on the right track.

Hang in there everyone and keep up the great work!! We all can do this as long as we don't give up.

Have a great day.:)
