Biggest Loser 8 Fall Challenge -- for losers and maintainers!

I just made these burgers 3 days ago and only have one left (:sad2:)
2 pounds of hamburger- one 15%, one 7% mixed
I had about 20-25 good sized mushrooms, sauteed in a little olive oil and white wine (and a little Johnny's garlic of course)chopped up in itty bitty pieces beforehand.

Mix the mushrooms with the hamburger and fry with Johnny's seasoning. Topped with guacamole and one pice of really lean good pepper bacon and fat free cheese umm. I know--not so low on calories but very filling and satisfying. I decided to have mixed berry applesauce instead of chips with the burger one night but got sunchips the rest.

Congrats agian pjlla.

Try going to the grocery store and buying some new healthy foods. Try a new fruit or vegetable. Look for some new healthy recipes. Try to find a FUN food that you can eat on plan. I LOVE Subway sandwiches. I find them very filling and they feel like fast food, but I can easily fit them into my daily calories.

After journaling some this week I decided I really needed some variety. I need to put more effort in food choices as I seem to have less choices these days-- I need to at least really enjoy what I can eat. For lunch at work the last 2 days I had some fruit salad the deli had marked down and a broccolli salad the day before. Both really good. I also tried a cascade lemon water that was really good yesterday-- only 2 calories.

Hi all- I've been reading all of your posts but too busy to reply.
Congrats to all the Big Losers and Maintainers! I made the top ten:scared1: This is the slowest I've ever lost weight.
Tuesday - I think I can commit to no more fast food. This is a tricky one for me, driving around Toronto all day! I haven't eaten any fast food at work for 4 days so I think I can give it up!
Wednesday - I cant think of anything I make but DSis makes a great veggie Gumbo thats very healthy and I love it!
I didn't stick to C25K the first week so I'm going to try again, starting tonight.:cheer2:

Just a quick hello, and I'll be back after work to post more. Went to my ww meeting, this quote was on the board there.
Success is measured by perserverance, not by pounds.
It really strikes home with me this week. We all have our ups and downs, but we are all here still, and we are all succeeding in our goals, though they may take us longer than we like, as long as we don't give up, we will get there.

Keep smiling and keep trying.:)

Love that Kathy. Love that.

Wednesday QOTD: What is your favorite meal to fix for your family that's healthy enough for you to eat it without making any special adjustments for your diet?

EXCELLENT question!! I have a SUPER curried chicken recipe that makes a HUGE serving for very few points that I try to make every few weeks (especially in the fall/winter). Served over brown rice and it is a full meal. DD and DH like it also (DS can't eat chicken) so it is pretty much a win-win for me! I have shared the recipe before here, but I will again if anyone is interested.

I look forward to hearing everyone's answer and PLEASE share recipes if you can!! .....................P

Please please please post this recipe. Thank you. :flower3:

Welcome to our newest member, soozaay! :welcome:

Just a quick check in for now will answer the QOTD later tonight.

Have a good day all!

Just wanted to check in. Had a rough day with my youngest daughter as she's super sick. Plan on getting my run in (W7D1) in a little bit. I'm so excited since I've never made it past W2 the other times I've tried the program. I'm contemplating a 5K in the end of Nov. I have to get my time down quite a bit in a month before I decide.
I got my ball out last night and did crunches and then I did some arm exercises with my light hand weights while I watched Biggest Loser. My arms and sides are feeling it today that's for sure.

Congrats to all the big losers. I'm determined to make it to that list at some point in this challenge. I'm working my tail off this week. I've been under my calories a lot this week. I was at 1100 at the end of the day yesterday but nothing sounded good and I wsn't really hungry so I didn't eat anything else to bring it up. (I try not to get under 1200 before exercise.) I didn't run yesterday so I was ok with being that short.

When you do various exercises such as arms, crunches, lunges, stuff like that, do you wear a monitor to see how many calories you burn or not since the heart rate isn't raised for that long most of the time? I use my polar hr mont to see calories burned during all runs so I'm not estimating it from my treadmill or the daily plate.

Congratulations to the losers and maintainers! And especially the top ten! :cheer2:

Took my DD to Disneyland for a few hours this morning... told her i would treat her to lunch at Storyteller's Cafe...ugh! I was so proud of myself..bread basket came (torture! But I didn't send it away as my DD enjoys some bread and I had will power!) and I love thier corn muffins..so I cut one in half and put the other half back and pushed the basket away ...ordered an appetizer salad for lunch for portion control and forgot to ask for dressing on the side! Oh well..I got most of it right! :)

We walked a lot and I will do my step in a bit while watching the baseball game.

Have a great day!

Cindylou - Congrats on a great race and qualifying for the Boston Marathon!:cool1:

Mikamah - Love the quote! "Success is measured by perserverance" I'm adding it to my mental quote file :goodvibes

ShortynBug - hope your daughter feels better soon:flower3:

Wednesday QOTD: What is your favorite meal to fix for your family that's healthy enough for you to eat it without making any special adjustments for your diet?

We have Special K fish! DH found the recipe on the Special K website and then I changed it to make it healthier and we all like the healthy version.
crunch up some special K in a dish add some orange rind, and other spices (I change it everytime I do it, so far, I like garlic and parsley the best).
Dip the whitefish into orange juice or lemon juice to get it wet, and then into the special K mix. If the special K mix doesn't want to stick, I just sprinkly some on top and dribble a bit more juice on it. Then put into oven safe pan and bake at 350 for about 15min.

Original recipe called for putting the fish in melted butter and then into the special K mix, but I didn't like the buttery taste, so reduced the fat and went with juice.

That sounds very tasty - I'll have to try it. I still want to try the inside-out eggroll, has anyone had that?

Still feeling lousy w/my bronchitis  today was gorgeous and I just couldn't even get outside for a walk. I'm hoping tomorrow I can go for a short one...actually I'm hoping to be feeling marvelous and go for a long one!! ;)

This is a great quote, Kathy. Thanks for inspiring us all today.

So, I am doing good right now. I went to the doctor this morning for the first time in 13 years! I told my new doctor about our challenge and doing WW and she was impressed with my efforts. It's a start.

Good job impressing your doctor, Molly! :thumbsup2

How fun to take a little trip to DL. :wizard: I bet the Halloween decorations look super. Did you get to check out the Halloween version of Space Mountain? I always love Haunted Mansion Holiday. :santa:

I just realized that I've lost 10 pounds since starting my journey with all of you! I would love to lose 20 more but I hope to make it to another 10 by the end of the challenge!

Great job everyone! Thanks for the laughs and encouragement! I am so excited about all the new friends I have made so far! Keep up the great work!

Good work, Tracey! There is a special WISH clippie for 10 pounds. It's at the bottom of the smilies list -- might was well show off how your hard work has paid off!

LisaH--that is a beautiful turtle!

Thanks, 50sjayne. He has a lot of personality, too. And, even better, I have never had to clean up turtle poop -- in fact in over two years, I've never even seen any! :rotfl:

Hey all. It's been awhile. I have done pretty darn horrible for the past 2 weeks. I gained over 5 last week and have probably gained at least another 5 this week. I have been on track today and feel good about that. I will hopefully be able to continue it tomorrow. I need to do some really introspection and see what is going on. I don't want to undo all the good work that I have done. I would love to come on here more but the schedule has not allowed it lately. Maybe I can get on a little more now that my dear mother in laws wedding is over. I know it helps me to come here and get support and read the posts of everyone elses trials and triumphs!

Sarah

, Sarah. Remember Worfiedoodles quote: don't shoot out all the tires when you get a flat. You've done so well this year. I know you can get back on track again.

I had a little NSV this morning. I used the Wii Fit for the first time in a long time and it showed I had lost 9 pounds since the last time I used it. :thumbsup2 It was a good reminder to celebrate my progress, even if it is slow progress. :goodvibes

Have a great evening all!

Had a great day eating and working out wise! Did the 2 mile WATP this morning, then 30 minutes on the Wii Fit! Tonight I did the 3 mile WATP! Actually didn't eat a lot today, not really that hungry:confused3. May have some lite popcorn again tonight with DH while watching tv. Hoping to see the 160s by Friday morning. Need some water.

Thanks for letting me know about the 10 pounds clippie! I'm going to add it in a few! Maybe I can reach 20 by the end of this journey before starting my final journey to 150! The Wii Fit says my ideal weight is 136.9 but that just seems to be overdoing it!

WAY TO GO TO ALL THE LOSERS! :cool1:

Not doing very well. DBF started feeling sick last night, and I think it might be H1N1... Not sure, though. And now I am really tired and headachy, so I skipped my run - AGAIN - and am sitting here watcing BL from last night (taped). Going to go to sleep as soon as I finish some marking. Not very pleased, especially since I have a Halloween costume I need to fit into that I bought a size too small a month ago and I have not been doing well at all this week :(

ANYWAY, enough whining from me; it doesn't help.

Wednesday QOTD: What is your favorite meal to fix for your family that's healthy enough for you to eat it without making any special adjustments for your diet?

I try to cook fairly healthy and just use portion control. Big fan of homemade soup and stew right now (probably cuz I be sick!), and I also do a lot of stirfry with homemade sauce (which is basically broth with a LOT of spices and "healthy" hot sauce)... I do baked and grilled whenever possible, too.

I need to remember to try this. I have been buying ocean perch when it is on sale and it is very tasty and light. I've been using a combined bread crumb/parm cheese coating, but will give the Sp. K a try next time. BWT, I coat the fish with egg whites so that the crumbs will stick. Thanks for sharing.

Yup, I tried the inside out egg roll the week it was posted. I liked it a great deal, but then again, I like cabbage. I made it when my folks came to visit. I served slivered almonds and crispy wonton strips as toppings (on the side, of course) and the wonton strips really added to the dish. I intended to add bean sprouts, but forgot about them... maybe next time. And I combined regular cole slaw and broccoli slaw, to up the nutrition factor (I made a double batch since we had company). I also decreased the vinegar amount, since DH doesn't care for vinegar.

I need to remember to add the ingredients to my shopping list... now that you mentioned it I am craving it!

Thanks to everyone on their congratulations. When DS asked WHAT I won, I said "a good feeling in my heart". He said "Is that all? Why bother??" I guess when you're 11 you just don't get it! I am truly excited about being the BL!!

To the person asking for my chicken recipe....I'll try to get it on tomorrow. Good night all!.................P

Tracey, that clippie looks good on you! :thumbsup2

Also, a big congratulations to all of our superstars and especially our biggest loser, pjlla! :cool1: Way to go!

I am so sorry that I didn't include that in my earlier post.

I can't believe I made superstar! That is exciting.

I haven't been on because this week has really been the week from hell. Friday was my birthday, and I worked from about 6 am to 1 am (school and then the theme park.) Saturday was a 16 hour shift at the themepark and my lovely crew did not bother to show up on time. Not a single stinking one. Literally every crew member was at least 20 minutes late (some were 45 and two hours late) or did not come in at all. And only one bothered to give appropriate notice. Of course, my swing shift person who was 2 hours late got all pissy that we had to combine his breaks into one (hmmm, maybe you should be on time for your shift so I can get breaks out on time). And because it was so cold my ride kept shutting down. Combine that with the downtime from when the fog from the vampire house completely obscured our ride, and it was not a fun evening. Plus it was COLD!

I'm pretty much done with my crew. I have never met a lazier group of people. I'm so glad that we're done in two weeks. I can't wait for next season when I can start out as a lead with a crew and train them the way I want them, instead of coming in at the tail end of the season and having to deal with someone else's mess.

I went to WI tonight, I gained .2. But honestly, I'm pleased. We had two other birthdays in the SPED department at school this past week, so we've been awash in cake and junk food. I went to 24 Hour Fitness and joined tonight. I have my first personal training tomorrow. I'm hoping they can kick my butt enough to help me get into shape!

Question: If you could have Bob or Jillian, who would it be? I was essentially asked this tonight. He asked me if I wanted somebody with more of his personality, or a drill sergeant. I like Jillian better on the show, but I don't know if I'm prepared to deal with an unknown *******, so I went for the soft option.

I tried the inside out eggroll after I posted it. I've done it twice. Second time I added bean sprouts and I liked it. I didn't use any vinegar just some light soya sauce. I added some slivered almonds to it as it was cooking, and DH & the kids all liked it. One time I had the coleslaw with purple cabbage and I prefer it with just green cabbage as the purple colour makes the whole thing a funny colour. I think next time, I'm going to add some mini-corncobs as my dd's really like those. I didn't bother adding the crunchy noodles, but I do add some of those to salads.

Thanks pjlla for the eggwhite idea. I'll have to try that next time. :goodvibes

I think this winter is going to be a tough one for people getting sick. Has anybody else heard the H1N1 virus referred to as the hie-ney (as in your tushy)? I think that's a great name for it:lmao:
My oldest DD had a cough and fever this evening, I hope she feels better in the morning.

Sending positive thoughts out there for everybody that's struggling!

Jessi - you sound excited about the personal trainer session tomorrow. Hope it is fun :goodvibes

Wednesday QOTD: What is your favorite meal to fix for your family that's healthy enough for you to eat it without making any special adjustments for your diet?

One of our favorite dinners is breakfast! We make eggs, bacon, homefries and pancakes, and I can select a bit of each and still make my WW pts. It's a treat for us, but I make sure it's not going crazy eating for me!

Maria :upsidedow

Wednesday QOTD:

We really like the Trader Joe's Orange Chicken and tonight we're having the Chicken Yellow Curry from Trader Joe's with brown rice. I'm not crazy about brown rice but I'm so close the the 160s (.4 away) I'll do anything to see it!

Did the 2 mile workout and after taking DD2 to school I'm going to do the Wii Fit for awhile. I'll probably try and do the 3 mile workout once the girls are home from school.

Work has been slow lately so I've had my workout time plus! I do have a client coming tomorrow and so far I have 2 people next week.

I love my neighbor! Yesterday when I went outside to leave for mey erranrds she yelled over, "You're looking skinny today!" I was wearing my skinny capris and my black Disney sparkly shirt. That outift makes me feel good! Just hope I can get into some of my skinny jeans in the next 2 weeks as it's getting cooler here again! Though today it's going to be 70!

Have a magical day everyone!

Morning all! I did my BL Cardiomax workout this morning because I haven't done it in a while... I forgot what a butt-kicking workout that is! Kind of glad I did it, but I was hating myself at the time! While I really like the WATP videos, I really have to WORK to make those strenuous enough.

I got in a full 90 minutes at the Y last night. DS came in the fitness room while I was in there (he had been playing kickball in the gym) and did some of the Nautilus machines and a bit on the bike and treadmill. He tends to be my more sedentary child, so I was glad I had inspired him to move a bit more last night. The person working in the fitness room showed him how to use the chin up/dip machine (I've never used it so I couldn't help him) and he was excited to try something new. He was showing me his muscles after we were done!! So cute! (BTW, he is 11 y/o.)

EB... glad to hear that the tiny gain isn't getting you down. You have had so much stress lately, I'm not surprised that your weight has been crazy! Good luck with the trainer. I'll be curious to hear how it goes!

LuvBaloo... I hope your DD is feeling better quickly! I love the HEINEY reference.... I'm surprised my kids didn't come up with it. DS LOVES the scene from Phineas and Ferb where Dr. Dufenshmirtz says "Perry the Platypus... you ate your own heiney??" That totally cracks him up, every time! Do your kids watch that show??

Well.... I took a sneak peek at the scale and was ALARMED to see that it shows that I am UP THREE POUNDS!! :scared1: That just doesn't seem possible, unless it is water weight or PMS or something like that. I did have a splurge meal last weekend, but that really isn't anything new. And I have been very careful with my points and getting in plenty of exercise, so I am just holding out hope that it will be gone by tomorrow. I did have some salty micro popcorn last night before bed, so I suppose some of it could be fluid retention. I'll be sticking well within my points today and drinking loads of water and will attempt to get in a good cardio/fat burning "last chance" workout tonight. Not sure what else I can do.

I will be able to hop on here a few times today at work, so I will be around.

Have a super day everyone!....................P
