Biggest Loser 8 Fall Challenge -- for losers and maintainers!

This morning I got up the first time the alarm went off and got on the treadmill for 45 minutes. That makes 3 days in a row for implementing the "mind over matress" and excersing :yay::yay::yay:. :thanks:

 that saying!! 'mind over mattress' it!

:welcome: to all the new losers hanging out with us! :thumbsup2 the energy on this thread is almost palpable!

yea, i'm a loser , i thought we were starting next tues when the show starts. good thing i popped on here today....LuvBaloo i'll send you my starting weight tomorrow....sorry.....

Corrina -- thanks for posting your medals! WOW!

QOTD 1) easy, i'm a Mom who lives in Ohio...and i rarely capitalize b/c i'm lazy i guess. no, it's b/c i don't have to look down to just type, but i always feel like i need to look when i 'shfit' which slows me down in my mind. silly, huh?

2) mini-goal -- my first is to consistently and truthfully journal EVERY bite for 7 days. i'm on day 2. weekends are really hard for me but i keep telling myself if I want a different result I have to change my actions. now lookie there, i typed I twice and didn't look at my shift key

my other mini-goal is to be 8-10 lbs thinner when I accompany my husband to WDW for a quick trip for a conference for his work. it's 4 weeks and I'll have to be intense to pull it off.

Is anyone working on a logo for the fall challenge? If not, I'd be more than happy to come up with one...I could do a small one for avatars, and a larger one for signatures. Just let me know (don't want to step on anyone's toes! :) ).

We could always recycle an old one too! - I loved the Jiminy Cricket one we had in the fall - he was so cute!!

jenjolt - :cool1: congrats on moving to notch 4! Remember how good that felt, so you can think about that memory if you start getting frustrated on your journey :goodvibes (I got that tip from a friend, and I think its a great idea!)

Worfiedoodles - enjoy your nailpolish!:)

tigger813 - :tigger: I hope you enjoy the movie! I'm sure Dona will be on to clarify the Crystal Light question. I'd say use the same logic as her answer for tea, 2 glasses is fine and the other 6 straight water. I do put a bit of lime in mine just for variety.

Desiree- Don't get stressed if you don't have a small goal, not everybody needs them. For myself, I need to focus on the small picture, so I don't get overwhelmed by the big one.:upsidedow

BilltM- I'm hoping for a nice Indian Summer too. It looks like its going to be hot here this weekend (28C tomorrow :thumbsup2).

HallsInTheKingdom - I like your "make yourself a better person" goals. :goodvibes That's great that you and your DH are trying this together :thumbsup2

mikamah - I too am getting back into tracking. I went on WWonline today and realized I haven't logged any of my food for an entire week :scared1:, I thought it had only been 4 days. It sounds like your upcoming vacation is giving you a lot of motivation. :thumbsup2

ShortyNBug - My oldest DD is Shaelyn, too, just spelt a little different! That's great that you are seeing a difference already by cutting out the coke and doughnut :thumbsup2

jennz - great job on the walking! Do you go with somebody? or by yourself with some music?

mullysisters - What a great present from your sister!

DizzyFORDisney - new clothes sounds good to me as a reward!

LMO429 - glad you found us again! :goodvibes

FLAngie - have fun with Steve's running sites!

lisah0711 - I love your sparkpeople name (1313Harbor) and I wish I was at that address right now! :love:Happy Anniversary!

corinna - your medals look great :jumping1:

MickeyMagic - great mini-goal with the fruit/veggies :thumbsup2

disneychrista- stick with it and you'll back in your pants soon! :goodvibes

Cinderella Girl - that'll be nice when you can look back at the pictures of that outfit and see the changes! :)

NC_Tink - That's great that you're learning what works to motivate you. :goodvibes

corky441 - enjoy that daily walking as you get back into it.:)

dreamlinda - those green chili burritos sound yummy!:upsidedow

calypso*a*go-go - Walking everyday is a great goal! :)

MelanieC - I'm sure you'll be successful losing your vacation weight! ::yes::

wildfan1473 - now you've made me curious about the 'good luck charm' story for your birthday?

anut4disney - I think many of us are "a nut for disney!" ;)

I'm enjoying seeing everybody's mini-goals, and its great how many are not just a weight change!:thumbsup2

QOTD

My screen name Lifelong_Dreamer came about because I am always dreaming about news adventures and plans for my future and the future of my family as well.

Mini-goals: I would be happy to lose 2 pounds a week. As for a reward I am going to allow myself to have a pizza night once a month.

Will do. Welcome, Lisa!

P.S. If I recall your signature correctly, your VWL groupie moose might have wandered off with the others that have gone missing lately.

Thanks Lisa.

Where did my moose wander to? :lmao: ;)

I did the wandering. I had to abandon my little groupies for my WISH daily thread. I couldn't keep up with both. I might be MIA here too. I can't seem to keep up with the BL mega format. But do know that I'm reading and cheering everyone on.

QOTD.

My name. I was a little slow when I first signed up. :lmao: I got so excited to see a huge Disney board I didn't realize not to put your real name.:rotfl: :goodvibes

My goals. I have lost a lot of weight - some with the help of previous BLs. However, I have gained some back being off scale. So my mini goal is simply to get back on track and not freak. Yes not freaking is a fine goal!!:rotfl2: I moved and was living in other's houses after we sold - unable to find a new place to buy and although I was fortunate - well it wasn't so good for routine. Now I'm in my new place and need to get focused again. Food - just eat consciously. I'm heavy on the exercise.

All the best to everyone. Thank you to all the leaders. :lovestruc

I know Lisah0711 said somebody was doing it (I think Corinna know that she's back from her trip). Maybe PM Lisa?

Now I really should get back to work. I see I've got lots of PM's coming in, and I haven't opened any yet today. I might get a break this afternoon to do it, otherwise I'll get to everybody's tonight :upsidedow

Now I must get back to work and actually earn my paycheque!:goodvibes

Here's one:
Fall_Challenge_Signature.jpg

QOTD:

1) My screename is a combination of my first and last names that I use for all my boards, emails etc.

2) My mini-goal is to work on portion control issues. I am sticking to Lean Cuisines, fresh fruit, soups etc with preset portions for a while to remind myself about appropriate portions. Otherwise I tend to cheat myself by counting a 20 point plate of food (such as a plate piled high with spaghetti) as a 10 pointer and wonder why I am not having success. Maybe that's an exaggeration, but you get the point. :confused3

Good Luck everyone!:hippie:

QOTD:

1) My screenname is my maiden name initials plus my nickname as a child. My uncles dressed me up and said I looked like a russian grandmother (ba bushka)

2) My mini goal is to not pig out at Disneyland next week. We leave the 16th and don't come home until the 21st and I am worried. I know I am going to eat what I want but I am hoping I can work on sharing so not eating the quantity I would have before. I plan to split meals with my ds4 and to eat treats but get 1 for the whole family of 4 to share instead of one for each of us!

Sarah

My DisName is just a play on my last name and I like to think I retain some child-like qualities (loving Disney, for one). Some would probably say childish, but moving on...

My first-mini goal is to make better food choices for several days in a row. I have been so out of control for so long. (Long term - I want to feel comfortable in a bathing suit for PodCastCruise2.0.)

I have a dilemma. Since I am such a new poster, I cannot PM or e-mail anyone except the staff. I can't weigh in!

Maybe I'll just go onto the boards and start replying with abandon to random people. Stop the lurking!! Join the party!

wildfan1473 - now you've made me curious about the 'good luck charm' story for your birthday?

How do I explain this? The simplest way is to say I have a guardian angel, and that is how she communicates with me. Whenever something is going to happen, or if there is something I am worried about, my bday numbers start showing up everywhere - license plates, prices, order totals, game scores, you name it. Sometimes it's to prepare me for something bad, sometimes it's to comfort me, I never know what it means, but I'm always prepared something is about to happen. Right before DH was laid off, it showed up everywhere, and I knew to expect something. The day DH and the boys went into the lake on the snowmobile, it showed up endlessly - again, I knew to expect something. When we were adopting the boys and had 10 months of delays, it kept showing up when I was at my darkest...she was telling me it was going to be ok (among other really weird things that kept happening, all when I told her I needed a sign). Most recently, just a few days ago I watched a neighbor's dog get hit by a car. The person who hit the dog kept woulda, shoulda, coulda, as did I - if I hadn't chosen that walking route that morning, then I wouldn't have had a dog tag along, then the other dog wouldn't have ran out in the road to see the dog that was tagging along with me. I was devastated. The first car to pass me after I got walking again had my birthday numbers on the license plate. It wasn't my fault, she was telling me. If I'm anxious about something, I literally ask her to tell me it's going to be ok - I know to be worried if I don't see those numbers popping up after that.

I know this sounds like a bunch of hooey, but I swear it's all true. I've had several people tell me I need to write a book about it, particularly the stuff that happened during the adoption process (I was literally asking for signs from above, and told her I needed something that would hit me hard so I knew it was from her, and she sent them to me in amazing ways). Someday, maybe I will.

1) lol I didn't think when I was registering lol so its my name!

2) this ones kinda hard... my main focus right know is the marathon I started training with C25K and with in 2 days I got massive shin splints a week later I went to the docs to make sure I didn't have a stress fracture they said I did not but found a small mass on my bone that they believe is just a cyst and told me to take it easy and check in back in a month, so I have to say that was VERY depressing and I have been in the down and outs since. Thats kinda why I am joining you guys to get back to it! I need this race Its hard to explain but I need to prove to myself that I am worth it and that I Can Do It! and be a fabulous princess during it LOL

If we do, we'll be seeing less of us than we are today!! How long are you going for? We checkin on sun the 8th, and leave onsat 11/14.

:rotfl: I hope so... We will be checking in on Wednesday the 4th & leaving Wednesday the 11th...

QOTD: I'm going with a 2-part question today. Since many of us don't know each other, I'll start with something simple: What's the meaning of your DisName? and for part 2: We have all set our own goals for this 14-week challenge, have you got a mini-goal to help measure success along the way? The goal could be a small weight loss, or exercising a number of times in a week, or a belt notch or . . . . .

My DisName is a nickname that I have had probably my whole life CanCan & all I did was just stick Dis in front of it.

These are my major goals but I do celebrate every 5 pounds lose

1. Work out 6 times a week… 1 hour each day… 3 days will be strictly cardio and 3 days will cardio with strength training
2. STAY ON PLAN with weight watchers by making sure i track my food
3. Stay positive & just be health!!
But my long term goal is to run/walk Disney Princess Marathon[COLOR]

Kudos to you, Shannon, for figuring out the 1313Harbor thing! ;)

Is it too late to join the challenge?

It's never too late! Welcome!

1) lol I didn't think when I was registering lol so its my name!

Well, of course, you are worth it! Bummer about the shin splints. Can you ride a recumbent bike or do some water exercise while you recouperate?

How do I explain this? The simplest way is to say I have a guardian angel, and that is how she communicates with me.

That is a wonderful story!

My DisName is just a play on my last name and I like to think I retain some child-like qualities (loving Disney, for one). Some would probably say childish, but moving on...

There is a thread on the test boards of the forum -- way down at the bottom -- where you can rack up random posts to get to the magic number for PMs, I think it is 10.

Here we go with the QOTD:

Mine's really uninteresting - it is my first name and my lucky number.

As far as mini-goals, my first is a pair of pants that buttons but are too tight to be comfortable through a day of chasing my toddler daughter. I want to get into those.

Beyond that, I'm thinking about taking Airtime247's suggestion and looking for run/walks in my area to use as goals. I know there is one coming up in early Oct that is a fundraiser for an arts organization I've donated to in the past, and I think there's one for the zoo sometime in the fall as well. Those might be fun ways to stay motivated on the exercise front.

DId everyone hear about the Disney Wonder??? It looks like it will be sent to do Alaska cruises out of Vancouver in the summer of 2011!!!
