Thanks Amanda it was exciting to be that close to the top!!!!

I got back into my size 12 black jeans today. Which is still so amazing to me cause 4 years ago they were a 24!!!!!! I still have lots to go but it sure gives ya a lift. Mybe it will keep me on track for the week end.

happy friday all

it's cold and crappy here in the buckeye state -- today we used our 4th of 5 calamity days. my girls were thrilled to be home but to be honest it's been a LONG day :teeth:

tonight i have a team challenge at our local YMCA where I am on a Biggest Loser team. i'm doing the 'trainer challenge' which i guess will be an obstacle course of strength exercises such as lunges, crunches, etc. i'm nervous b/c i hate NOT knowing exactly what i'm getting myself into. it's helping me eat well today though and beat that weekend mindset. well....for today at least ::yes::

:welcome: to our newest teammies!! so glad you are here, even if you live in that state up north.....LOL

CONGRATS to all our LOSERS and challenge winners.....rock on!

btw -- as i sit here and type i'm surrounded by 153 CASES of girl scout cookies!!

Well beans have a ton of fiber. Here is a good list of high fiber foods with 5grams of fiber or more...
Barley
Navy Beans
Baked Beans
Split Peas
Lentils
Oat Bran
Dates
Refried Beans
Raspberries
Asian Pears
Green Peas
Couscous, dry
Prunes
Spinach
Artichokes
Brussels sprouts
Broccoli
Pears
Raisins
and you can also have things like cornbread, hushpuppies and oatmeal or you could make some turkey chili using chili beans and have some cornbread with it. (these are soluble fiber which attract water to your bowels)

WOW!! Thanks, Cam!! I hadn't realized that raspberries were that high. Guess I'll have to get some. Some of those things I can't eat yet, and some I already do. Today it looks like I have about 29 or 30 grams, so I am doing better.

Cat- Welcome
I think there were other things to respond to but 1 day without reading and you get lost. I was offered girl scout cookies today and refused to be drawn in even though i've had a terrible day. Yeah Me.

Amanda

Challenge- well we went to dinner & a movie last night. Vantage point was good. Kept you glued to the seat. We went to Red Lobster since it's a friday in lent. I did not make good chioces but it was delicious. I will do some walking today. Did skip the greasy popcorn though/

Amanda hang tough with the girlscout cookies, I put mine in the freezer so the kids can have them.

Have a great Saturday-it has finally stopped raining.

Hi everyone!!!

I posted in the pool of WISH this morning and Lisa re to my post and said this is where I want to be!!! Thanks Lisa!

I wanna join, I wanna join!!! I guess I sign up but how?

This isn't a competition is it? It's not really fair for me to be in a competition as I am a gastric bypass gal. I am 2 years out and want to drop the last 15 pounds for our summer Disney trip.

I am full of loads and loads of good info so I can be a positive addition to the group... I want to be held accountable for my intake and all but I don't want to compete against anyone as it just wouldn't be fair :scared1:

Where do I sign up?!

As to that question of the day about not losing weight but still noticing it...
Those are called "NSV"
I LOVE LOVE LOVE NSV's they are the best!!!!
NSV= non scale victories for those who might not know.

A NSV can be something really small like a walk around the block doesn't wind you or they can be major NSV like fitting into that wedding dress you wore 20 years ago :cheer2:
I live for NSV's!!!!!!!!!

So is there room for me in this group? I know not everyone agrees with the surgery I had ... so I don't want to butt in where I am not wanted :goodvibes

Can I add a few things to the list?
Fiber One cereal has loads of fiber and is low in sugar :cheer2:
If I get the munchies I will grab a handful of Fiber One and munch on it.
make sure you get the original Fiber One as the others are full of sugar.

Baby spinach is a great one... might not be as high as beans BUT it as vit c and iron and when you mix iron and vit C you get big bonus points :cheer2:

chili is great for protein and fiber! I have some GREAT diet chili recipes if anyone likes chili, PM me and I can send some you way.

All are welcome here no matter how much weight you have to lose. Even though you have had gastric bypass you are still working to get to your goal weight and that makes you a welcome member of our challenge.

Check out this sticky for details about our challenge.

Your first step is to PM or email your starting weight to me. Our last weigh in for BL 4 will be April 15. After that who knows, we may start another challenge or just stay together to continue to support each other.

If you have any questions post here or PM me.

Good luck as we work together to achieve our weight loss goals and become the Biggest Loser!

Have a healthy day!

I just want a place where I can be held accountable for what I put in my mouth and a place for ideas and support. Even though we all have different systems, our goals are the same.... to be big old losers :rotfl:
I pm'ed you with my info. Glad to know it doesn't get posted on here :scared1:

Welcome, praline! Good to have you with us.

For the challenge - what do I do just for myself? The biggest thing that I do is read. I love reading and I'm not at my happiest when I don't have time to do at least a little each day. The other thing that I do "just for me" is oddly enough reading the DIS and Disney planning. Sometimes those trips are just dreams and other times they get to be real, but the fun of planning and researching really gives me a boost. :goodvibes:

Challenge? AACKKK already I am being all tested and stuff :rotfl:
Even though I am new here going to take a swing at this answer...
What do I do for myself?
HMMM being a stay at home mom with 3 kids this one is usually tough to answer. I like having a beauty ritiual night where I take a bubblebath, pedi and mani and a facial. I tell the kids that mom is off for the night and I have my own little spa :woohoo:

Yeah Praline. So glad you came on over.

Like I said, and Brenda added as well, even though we do post the Biggest Losers of the week we are in essence just a friendly, supportive group of people with a common goal. Although I think we all enjoy seeing our name in lights. :rotfl: ;)

Happy to have you here. And you've already helped me with remembering, once again since I seem to need reminding over and over and over :lmao: , that the scale is not the be all and end all of success. So thanks.

your right Lisa. The scale is not even in the top 10 of the success rating :hippie:
It is a tool to measure pounds ... not inches...not health... not feeling better about yourself. It is a tool... not a monster that is going to eat you... not that high school kid that made fun of you... it is a THING that we control.
I could tell you the total amount my scale has told me I have lost but that is such a minor thing compared to how I feel. ;)

Make it a major point in your life to find 1 NSV (again non scale victory) every single day! It may be something completely minor such as squeezing through a door when there is only a crack in it ...just something small that you can smile at yourself and stick your tongue out at that scale :cool1:

If you are changing your lifestyle ...eating right and working out the scale is most likely not as accurate for you at first... building muscle, losing water weight, body going into total shock ... these things effect that scale number.
There are many people who try really hard only to gain 2 lbs in a week. How frustrating is that?!?!!

I do keep a measurement of what I weigh using a scale but that is not the only thing I do. I also take accurate measurements of my body and keep record of it. Once a month I yank out the tape measure and measure my chest, waist, hips, thighs and bicepts. Between these 2 tools I know where I am and where I should be.

Enjoy life ~ be happy ~ happiness is the best way to drop pounds :thumbsup2
