Biggest Loser 4 Week 5

I'm so glad that the challenge has been postponed. I'm still sick. I hate this, coughing with a sore throat, coughing makes it hurt worse. WAH! Please send the Wahbulance for me.

I suppose the good thing about this is that I'm not eating much because I can't taste it so I'm eating bland like soup and soft things like that. Okay, I did break down and buy some italian ice cups since the coldness of those makes my throat feel a little better.

I did manage to finally lose the two pounds Aunt Flo brought with her and I was even for last week.

So there is a silver lining in there somewhere. I've also had time to sew a few things for DD that needed to be done. I finished her Mardi Gras top this afternoon. I still have to make the one she wanted for a birthday party she's got next weekend to do so I'll probably start on that tomorrow.

I'll be taking myself into the docs tomorrow as long as we don't get coated in ice tomorrow, they're still calling for it but I'm hoping that since I managed to bring everything I'd need into the house to chip out in the morning that it won't since I'm prepared. :) I can dream can't I?

Congrats to all of you who are bringing in the big numbers! You're doing awesome! Keep it up. And to those who aren't seeing the scale move (me included) don't give up! We'll all get there together!

* Someone was also frustrated because they do not have much to lose and may not ever have the opportunity to be named a weekly superstar.

IMHO, that's more a matter of how your body loses than it is not having much to go. My BMI's currently around 23.5, and goal for me is 22 - going by this morning's number on the scale, I've got about 8 pounds left. I'm not losing at a tremendously fast pace - it averages out to about 1% a week, and I've averaged that 1% a week for 8 months and 60 pounds. So how the heck did I make it into the top 10 for 2 of the last 4 weeks? On the other two, I gained or maintained, entirely due to hormonal water weight retention. So I average 1% a week, but in any given week, I might be up 0.5%, and the next week I'll be down 2.5%.

If we had weigh-in days timed differently in relation to my hormones, I'd be one of the people slogging along in oblivion, with a nice consistent loss every week, but never a loss big enough to get a mention.

I just realized that I only lose weight every other week. Is that weird?

Totally normal, IMHO. I retain water at ovulation and right before my period, so depending on the weigh-in dates, I'll see a gain, a small loss, or no change for those weeks. The other two weeks, I lose like crazy, because it's all water weight, and water comes off fast. The perils of being a girl, I guess. :confused3

Congratulations everyone!

I knew you could do it Kathy! Yeah buddy!!!!
thanks buddy. I couldn't have done it without all your support and cheering. I was pretty excited to see my name up there.
Congratulations to all the losers here, and everyone who is struggling, don't give up. Last week I had a gain and was struggling in the eating dept, and this week, I've turned around, and hope to stay there.

This challenge has been such a big help to me. It's great to have a buddy to connect with, and thus keep me involved with the group. I am inspired by so many of you here, and it is so helpful to read about your triumphs and your struggles, and know that through good times or bad, I am never alone.

Keep up the great work!! :cool1: We will all be big losers!!!:cheer2:

A special congrats to Annette!!! This weeks biggest loser!!!!:woohoo:

Congratulations to all of the Superstars!!! And to Annette! An extra big congrats! Everyone is doing so well!!

I forgot to subscribe to this week's thread so missed a few days. What a difference it makes too! Without being here to check in and be encouraged by everyone's success and hard work, I was tempted to make some bad choices.

Looks like I've got my workouts built in for today. 6" or so of snow awaits me in the driveway. It was not pretty driving DH to work at 6am this morning. I thought it was going to be fine as our town wasn't bad. Crossed to the next one and got to go 15 or so slipping and sliding through the most hilly and curvy section of the route. Needless to say, I tried another route home via a highway and 2 other major roads. They still weren't great, but were better.

Well, since no one else is up yet, maybe I'll go change, bundle up and take my first wack at the driveway.

:sad2: Hey guys, I have struggled with eating the past 2 days. I guess on the good news front, it is nothing compared to what I did in the past regarding overeating. so that is good, I just know I went over my calories for 2 days, and yesterday was stress eating.

We did turbo tax for our taxes, and something got goofed up - BIG TIME! - in the trasferring of the information and instead of us getting back several thousand dollars as a refund, it showed that we OWED 8,000!!!!:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: It shouldn't have been accepted on the other end, because the w2's don't match up, but they did.:scared1: so now we have to wait until we are billed by the governement and then we can do an ammendment. DH was on the phone with someone regarding this, and there is nothing we can do. We are worried that they would pull the money from the checking account, as you have to put that info in for them to automaticly deposit the money. We were so fearful that they would automaticly withdraw the error. Ummm, we don't have an extra 8,000 lying around. so now this is going to be a major pain in the but, major time involved to fix this issue. All I could think of is that STUPID commercial regarding the guy working at the computer having an issue with his taxes and the wife comes up and says "oh, is there a problem, lets ask the box for help" and then I think she hits his head with the box. Well, DH feels terrible about this, and I have been supportive, trying to be positive... "it'll be right in the end, don't worry, it all will work out", I would never give him grief, because I know it was a simple mistake. but it is stressfull when you are talking about that kind of amount of money errror.

If you are still reading, thanks!

Good Friday morning. I decided to take the day off today. We are in the middle of midterms and I don't have any exams today. I would have just been in my classroom all day with just grading to do. So I brought it home and called in that I would not be in. I am going in a little while to my doctor's office to pick up a paper for blood work that I need to do tomorrow morning. If I had gotten it yesterday I would have gone for the blood work today but they said it wouldn't be ready till today.

I bought some yarn and some needles to start a pair of socks to knit. I also have my exams here to grade.

Question of the Day

Are you going to a Super Bowl Party?

As of right now we are not. We usually go to a friend's house but she has been away for 10 days and doesn't get back till tomorrow evening. Dh doesn't want to go because she will want to tell her stories about her trip and dh only wants to watch the game. She also invites people who never watch footbal but since he is well read he thinks he knows it all.

Dh doesn't care who wins. He told me it would be neat if NE won because of their undefeated season but we are from NJ so it would be okay if the Giants won.

COngrats to all the winners this week.

Me too! I thought of going to the gym this morning, but I know I have a lot of shoveling to do, so I'll get out there and get going this morning.

I love the way a fresh blanket of snow looks, but it isn't fun to shovel!

Question of the Day

Are you going to a Super Bowl Party?

No, I will be driving home from work during the first part of it. Since my beloved Packers aren't in, I don't really care who wins. although it would be neat for the Manning family, but it doesn't really matter to me.

I am hoping that all the surgeons will be going to one though, so I have an easy day at work!:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I might tape it too, so I can see the commercials!:rotfl:

Are we going to a Super Bowl party?

It's just be me and DH watching it in our family room. He's already asking what we're going to be eating and I think it's just going to be veggies and dip. I have a MD apppointment Monday morning so stepping on that scale there will keep me not eating too much on Sunday night.

$8000?!?!?:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: YIKES!! I'd be in a panic too! Hope you get it worked out soon.

Your DH should be ashamed of himself! "okay if the Giants win"???:confused3 He's from NJ and he says it's just "okay"?? Give him a kick in the pants from me and tell him to get up and root for the Giants!!! They're the HOME team! The NJ team!! If he roots for the Patriots he has to move out of NJ! (OK, maybe that's not a good trade off...)

GO GIANTS!!!!!!!!!:cheer2:

QOTD--we usually alternate years with my BFF and her family, and this would have been their year. If the Packers had won, we'd be going there. But with our Giants in it, exDH wants the kids with him for the first half, so I'm staying here. Then it turns out DMom, DDad, and DSis are coming, possibly DNiece too if she doesn't go back to Turkey Sunday with her father.

I am making a nice (organic) chili, with rice. I will also make hummus and serve that with raw veggies and bread for dipping. At halftime there will be franks in blankets--OK, so not healthy but it's a tradition my kids will not forgive me if I break! The usual chips and salsa too, but I'll skip that thank you very much. I'll be plenty full from the chili and the hummus!!

I'm off to the gym. Running late, but I wanted to check in on the dis...

Sorry I've been VERY MIA lately. The last week really got away from me between chaufering my adult & teen kids & a new puppy(see my journal for details). No time to be on the computer.

I'm FINALLY feeling mostly over the 'crud' that I've had since mid-December & all but one node seems back to near or normal. And then Dear old TOM decides to make a Grand, surprise appearance........UGH!!!!!! My DSis & Mom were thru with all that 10 years earlier than I am now!!!!!!!!!!! NOT FAIR!!!!!!!

Food for the last week has been horrid as I've had nasty chocolate/salt cravings. Amazing that my weight was down 1.2 yesterday at WW.

Managed to get to the gym on Tuesday between kid runs & swim a bit. Hopefully will make it back today.

Congrats to all on this journey! Keep on Keepin' on!!! Have a GREAT weekend!

NO Superbowl parties here! Just not a football fan......(but DD & I will likely have to watch part of the Puppy Bowl on Animal Planet!)

Tha's nothing. He is also a Packer's fan so he was really torn during the last game. :rotfl:

ALso aren't they also still officially NY Giants. NY or already for a parade if they win what about NJ. The only tall building in Moonachie (the town right next to the Meadowlands, where my parents still live) is three stories tall. How can you have a big tickertape parade with only a couple of short buildings.:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Good morning everyone!

Vija - sorry to hear about the taxes. That stinks! Hope it all gets settled quickly!

Question of the Day

Are you going to a Super Bowl Party?

Nope, not that big a football fan. Didn't even go to one last year when the Bears were in it. We'll watch or at least DVR the game to see the entertainment and commercials.

My workout this morning was shoveling snow for 40 minutes. DH left at 4 am as he has to plow where he works. He cleaned the snow before he left but when I was ready to leave at 7 there was about 3-4 more inches down. Good workout at least!

Hi everyone! I'm a Biggest Loser Newbie. I don't mind being the Smallest Loser as long as I'm losing. :)

We're not going to a Super Bowl party but I'm already wondering what I'm going to eat. Our family tradition is to make a boat load of appetizers and munch for 4 or 5 hours straight. Um, I don't think I can do that this time.

Hi addicted to WDW!!!! Just saying hi:goodvibes

Lisa

Welcome addicted to WDW.

Hope you're not getting to much ice where you are. Schools closed here for the day - not fun, especially, when you work from home.

No Superbowl Party for us either. I married an Englishman so he doesn't get American football. I have never been much of a professional fan, I prefer college ball, but ever since having DD I haven't had time to keep up with all of that.

I woke up to rain this morning which was fine with me, they were predicting ice this morning, I'll take cold and rainy over icy and slippery any day.

I'm feeling a little better this morning, I had a voice back, at least for the time being. DD has gymnastics this morning, I usually walk but I'm going to sit since I'm still coughing a lot. I'll start back on Monday if I'm back to normal or at least close.

PrincessVija, I'm so sorry about the IRS mix up. That's terrifying. I hope you can get it sorted out soon.

I'm off to find something for DD to wear to gymnastics and get her moving in the right direction.

I think we're going to head out to Trader Joe's to grab a few things. Think I might fire up the oven tonight and make homemade pizza with whole wheat crust, low fat mozz, and some veggies. DD loves making pizza at home and it beats the junk we get out.

I hope everyone has a great day!

I should have mentioned that my name is Jen. :)

Nope, no ice here in Montgomery County, but the schools were delayed anyway - I guess it was icy up in the northern part of the county. It's pretty icky out there though.
